Sokoto Speaker Aminu Achida has defected from the All Progressives Congress(APC) under which platform he won the seat to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
Achida’s emergence as Speaker after the 2019 polls followed what seemed a game of betrayal when he aligned with opposition PDP, which hatched the move against the APC anointed candidate Alhaji Sidi Garba.

The process got the overwhelming support and backing of the PDP, which favoured Achida’s candidature at the expense of his party’s efforts and the preferred candidate. .
