Southeast group drums support for re-election bid

A political support group, under the aegis of New Southeast People’s Traditional Consultative Parliament (NSEPTCOP), has said President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election is the shortest route to Igbo presidency in 2023.

Addressing reporters at the weekend in Awka, the Anambra State capital, NSEPTCOP’s President Levi Vincent said over 7,000 executive members of the pan-Igbo traditional organisation had signed for the second term bid of the President.

He said the group consulted widely – physically and spiritually – before taking the decision.

Vincent said the group believed that the President’s completion of his second term would favour the aspiration of the Southeast to produce the President. The NSEPTCOP leader described President Buhari as a man of impeccable honesty and integrity, adding that he is compassionately patriotic.

According to him, the President has sufficient international goodwill and political will to set a new time table for democracy in Nigeria and Africa.

He said: “A lot of things happen more in the spiritual than physical. So many things take place in the third heavens. That’s where President Buhari’s second term decision has been taken.

“Buhari’s presidency is very significant in several ways. It’s more spiritual. His assignment is to ensure Nigeria is sanitised in the next four years. I’m sure he’ll do just that.

“That’s why lots of Nigerians who don’t understand are getting it wrong. But those of us in the region won’t make that mistake again.”
