Southwest leaders set up panel on constitution amendment

The Governors, Senators and House of Representatives members from the Southwest on Tuesday set up a committee to harmonise the region’s position on the ongoing constitution amendment.

Southwest Governors’ Forum Chairman and Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, gave highlights of a two-hour meeting of the leaders in Abuja.

He said: “We deliberated on constitutional amendments and we have resolved that we will present a common position as regards amendment to the constitution.

“To achieve this, this meeting has set up a committee made up of distinguished Senators led by the caucus chairman and House of Representatives members, led by the caucus chairman, as well as attorneys-general of the Southwest states. The committee is to harmonise our positions.”

All the Southwest governors were in attendance.
