The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) has named the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr. Lateef Olatunji, the best Rector in the country.

Olatunji was presented with the best rector award during the SSANIP’s fifth Delegate Conference held at the Nigeria Merit Award House, Abuja.

While congratulating Olatunji, National Secretary of the association, Chief M. P. Jegede, said the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the association had noted and praised the effort of the Rector towards staff development in his Polytechnic.

“The National Executive Committee (NEC) Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) has noted your consistent understanding and co-operation in matters relating to our union and indeed, members of the union in your institution. Consequently, you have been selected for this special recognition as Best Rector in Staff Welfare.”

In his speech, Dr. Olatunji thanked the association for the honour done the Polytechnic. He also admonished Governing Council Chairmen and Rectors of institutions present at the occasion to endeavour to give staff welfare an utmost interest in their institutions. Olatunji mentioned that since his assumption of office, he has carefully ensured that his staff members were promoted as and when due. “When I came on board as Rector, I have a back-log of promotion of staff who are yet to be promoted. With the support of my Governing Council Chairman, there is no promotion that is outstanding. The 2019 promotion exercise is already completed at the Federal Polytechnic Offa,” he said.

Olatunji explained that, when staff are happy, growth in such institution is unstoppable. He, however, urged the association to always cooperate with the government as well as the management of the various institutions in maintaining a sustainable peace which will bring about technological advancement in the country.
