Stalemate as factions boycott Oyo APC Congress

There is a stalemate over the Oyo All Progressives Congress (APC) Congress slated for Obafemi Awolowo Stadium Ibadan.

Members of most factions in the party insisted that there would be no congress, alleging that the delegates list has been manipulated in favour of a particular faction.

But the Congress national committee led by Alh. Gambo Lawan insisted that the exercise would hold.

Access to the main bowl of the stadium was under lock and key since Saturday morning.

But a faction led by Sen. Teslim Folarin mobilised its members to the stadium since morning, occupying an open field within the premises.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials are also at the venue.

They are waiting for members of the committee to start the exercise.

As at the time of filing this report, party members were still waiting at the stadium.

Gambo Lawan was still giving assurance that the congress would hold.
