According to the singer, the advancement of technology has made it possible for Nigerian music to travel far.

In his words: “I think it’s a bright future, many incredibly talented artists, and the emergence of online streaming platforms also makes things more promising.

“Now we have paid subscriptions to online streaming platforms on mobile devices, giving people millions of songs at their fingertips, some are even free as long as it reaches wider audiences.

“With the advancement in mobile phones, a music artiste can Snapchat a gig to thousands of followers in real-time on social media,”

The Afrosoul star also revealed that he is currently working on a new project, an 8-track album set to be dropped in August.

“I think the end of July, I promise I’m working around the clock to make it happen. You should expect a more matured and musically inclined Ayola. I’d like to believe my songwriting has really improved and is probably top tier now, so the album should show it,” he said.

Scum EP was released on all major streaming platforms on 20th November 2020 after its first release date was cancelled amid the #EndSARS crisis.

Blending his Nigerian roots with a Western pop sensibility, the EP consists of 6 tracks. From the lush and soulful proposal of “Fe mi” to the #EndSARS protest-inspired closer, “Home”.
