Student charged with robbery

An Ilorin Magistrates’ Court in Kwara State on Wednesday ordered that a student, Samson Moses, be remanded at a correctional centre for alleged armed robbery.

Magistrate Mohammed Ibrahim ordered the remand of the defendant at Oke-kura Correctional Centre, Ilorin and adjourned the case till February 5.

Prosecuting Inspector Nasiru Yusuf said the defendant was arrested by the police on January 9 while on patrol at Tanke, Ilorin.

He alleged that when the defendant was searched, a toy gun neatly concealed like a berretta pistol was recovered from him.

The prosecutor added that investigation conducted showed that the defendant was on his way to rob Oluh Kabaka at Colony Hostel, Ilorin.

He claimed that the defendant confessed to have planned the use of the toy gun for robbery, adding that he also admitted being a member of Aiye secret cult.
