The incident happened along the Akure-Ondo road, near Olokunta community, Akure, the state capital,
They were declared dead at the scene after a Toyota car rammed into them.
Special Assistant to the Governor on Emergency Response, Prince Oriade Wellington Adebawo, in a statement, said he arrived the scene within few minutes but the victims could not be saved.
Adebawo condemned reckless driving on the highway and cautioned drivers to avoid over speeding to prevent such tragedies.

National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC) Ondo State Axis, in a statement by its Chairman, Comrade Oluwarotimi Tobiloba Joshua, described the loss as a heavy blow to the Ondo State students community.
“The tragic deaths of Chukwu Athanasius and Oladokun Oyindamola remind us of the fragility of life.
“These were young individuals with promising futures, and their loss is deeply felt.”
The statement expressed optimism that their memories would inspire efforts for safer roads and justice.
