Adeboye outlines actionable framework for structured youth inclusion

The International Forum for Peace and Diplomacy (IFPD) convened its Council of Emissaries Assembly on 27 January, bringing together senior envoys and stakeholders to deliberate on strengthening global peacebuilding, diplomacy, and multilateral cooperation.

Discussions at the Assembly placed strong emphasis on the evolving role of young people as strategic partners in peace, governance, and sustainable development, particularly in regions facing demographic growth, economic transition, and complex security challenges.

Participants underscored the need to move youth engagement beyond symbolic representation towards deliberate, policy-driven inclusion within diplomatic and peace frameworks.

During the Assembly, Ambassador (Dr.) Alan Peter Adeboye, Special Envoy on Youth Affairs, presented a clear Youth Action Agenda aimed at institutionalising youth participation across peace and diplomatic processes.

The agenda prioritises structured youth inclusion in decision-making, expanded capacity-building and leadership development programmes, increased youth participation in policy dialogue and conflict prevention initiatives, and the creation of cross-border youth networks to promote innovation, dialogue, and social cohesion.

Emphasis was placed on transitioning from ad-hoc youth initiatives to formal mechanisms with measurable outcomes, accountability, and long-term sustainability.

The Assembly further highlighted the importance of aligning youth-focused interventions with broader international peace, security, and development objectives, while strengthening partnerships among governments, multilateral institutions, civil society organisations, and the private sector to maximise impact.

Concluding deliberations reaffirmed the position that sustainable peace and effective diplomacy are unattainable without the intentional, strategic, and sustained inclusion of young people.

The IFPD Council of Emissaries reiterated its commitment to advancing youth-centred frameworks that translate dialogue into concrete action and long-term societal resilience.

God’s mercy rescued Anthony Joshua – Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has attributed the mercy of God for British-Nigerian boxing champion Anthony Joshua’s survival in a fatal auto crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Two of Joshua’s friends, Ayodele Kevin and Ghami Sina, lost their lives in the accident.

Adeboye spoke at the church’s monthly thanksgiving service, saying Joshua’s survival was a demonstration of God’s mercy.

He noted that Joshua had exchanged seats with his friends before the accident, which ultimately led to their tragic demise.

“I read in the newspapers yesterday that our boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, exchanged seats with someone before the accident.

“The people he exchanged seats with died. I don’t know why, but the mercy of God said someone would still be alive today,” he said.

The cleric stressed the importance of recognising God’s mercy in our lives, urging listeners to take the message personally.

Adeboye releases 2026 prophecies, foresees reduction in hunger, economic revival

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has released his prophecies for the year 2026, declaring that the New Year will be more remarkable than 2025, with notable improvements in welfare, opportunities, and testimonies of divine intervention.

Adeboye delivered the prophecies while preaching at the church’s annual Cross Over Service held at the RCCG Camp along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, as worshippers gathered to usher in the new year with prayers and thanksgiving.

According to the revered cleric, the wind of change that began in 2024 will continue to blow even more strongly in 2026, ushering in increased opportunities and victories for individuals and nations.

“2026 will be more remarkable than 2025,” Adeboye declared. “The wind that has been blowing since 2024 will continue to blow more strongly than before.”

He prophesied that the new year would witness more breakthroughs, successes, and victories, with fewer failures compared to the previous year.

He added that many testimonies in 2026 would begin with the words, “God remembered me at last,” signifying long-awaited divine intervention.

Nigeria: Reduction in hunger, economic growth

Focusing on Nigeria, Pastor Adeboye said the country would experience a reduction in hunger in 2026, offering hope to millions affected by economic hardship.

He further prophesied that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) would begin to blossom, contributing to economic recovery and job creation across the nation.

In a striking declaration, the RCCG leader spoke of a “reversed JAPA,” predicting that many Nigerians who left the country in search of better opportunities abroad would begin to return home.

Global outlook: Lower war risk, weather patterns

On the international scene, Adeboye said the likelihood of a major global war in 2026 would be less than in 2025, offering a measure of relief amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.

Regarding weather patterns, he noted that conditions would be similar to those experienced in 2025, although he cautioned that there could be a chance of a couple of major hurricanes.

Adeboye urges Nigerians to embrace Christ’s priceless gift

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged Nigerians to fully embrace the gift of Jesus Christ, describing it as the only gift without limitation.

Speaking recently, Pastor Adeboye emphasised that God has given the world the priceless gift of His son, and accepting Christ opens the door to all associated blessings.

“The echo is simple: the only gift that has no limitation is the priceless gift, the gift of the Lord Jesus Christ. God has given the whole world this gift,” he said, calling on everyone to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour so that blessings of healing, victory, favour, breakthrough, and prosperity can be released in their lives.

Adeboye reassured believers that by next year, those who are sick or seeking divine intervention would experience answered prayers.

“One of the blessings of the gift of Jesus is healing. Those who are sick will receive their healing. One of the blessings is victory. If you are being pursued by the enemy, you can be sure your enemy will not overcome you,” he said.

He also urged Nigerians to live lives that reflect Christ’s character.

“Christ came to save mankind from sin. Our attitude as Nigerians should be to accept Jesus and ensure that our lives resemble Him. Jesus is truthful; let us be truthful. Jesus is holy; let us be holy. Jesus is merciful; let us be merciful. Jesus is compassionate; let us be compassionate.”

Adeboye lamented that many Nigerians accept Christ in words but not in action, urging them to emulate Jesus in their daily lives. Looking back at 2025, he noted, “We didn’t serve God the way we ought. In 2026, let us praise Him more, show appreciation, live holy lives, love others, and stand against kidnapping, insecurity, and all forms of vices.”

He assured Nigerians that whatever the nation has lost will be restored for those who align their lives with Christ.

Speaking at the event, tagged The Priceless Gift, the cleric said God has given the world the ultimate and priceless gift in His Son, adding that accepting Christ opens the door to numerous blessings.

He said the only gift without limitation is the gift of the Lord Jesus Christ, urging everyone to accept Him as Lord and Saviour so that blessings such as healing, victory, favour, breakthrough and prosperity can be released in their lives.

Adeboye assured believers that by the coming year, those trusting God for divine intervention would have their prayers answered.

According to him, healing is one of the blessings of Jesus, noting that those who are sick will receive healing, while those facing opposition will enjoy victory over their enemies.

Reflecting on the outgoing year, he noted that many did not serve God as they ought to, calling on Nigerians to praise God more, live holy lives, love one another and stand against all forms of vices in the coming year.

Renowned filmmaker, Chief Lere Osunpaimo, popularly known as “Eda Onile Ola,” has appealed to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, RCCG General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and Nigerians to intervene after alleging that the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, is attempting to remake his iconic film Ogbori Elemoso without his consent.

Speaking at a press conference in Ibadan, Osunpaimo described Ogbori Elemoso as pivotal to his career and legacy, noting that it earned him national recognition, including the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) award, and contributed to his chieftaincy title of Are Arobajo of Ogbomoso, conferred by the late Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade II.

The filmmaker said the current monarch had initially approached him with a proposal to remake the film, requesting cost estimates.

Osunpaimo valued the project at around N100 million, but alleged that the Soun suggested the budget could increase and requested script changes, promising to follow up.

However, in October 2025, Osunpaimo claimed a man identified as Ben Ayoola, also known as Ben O Ben, together with individuals claiming to represent Fewchore Studio, visited his home asserting they had the monarch’s approval to remake the film.

“They told me they did not need my permission to remake the movie and that they only wanted to give me a ‘gift’ for the work,” he said.

The group allegedly deposited N7.5 million into his account, which Osunpaimo’s children described as manipulation.

Acting on their advice, he returned the money and, through his legal counsel, issued a cease-and-desist letter to the studio warning against proceeding without his approval.

Despite this, he claimed the parties insisted on having the monarch’s backing and warned that legal action would not favor him.

Describing the situation as an attempt to destroy his legacy, Osunpaimo recalled that producing Ogbori Elemoso had left him heavily indebted and had even led to the seizure of his car.

“This work was meant to benefit me and my children, but powerful individuals are attempting to take it away from me,” he said.

He urged Governor Makinde, Pastor Adeboye, the Oyo State Police Commissioner, and the sons and daughters of Ogbomoso worldwide to intervene.

He also appealed to Nigerians to protect him from what he described as injustice at his old age, noting that he suspects those involved may be connected to recent social media rumors about his death.

Attempts to reach the Soun of Ogbomoso’s spokesperson for comment were unsuccessful as calls to his phone went unanswered.

    • Wants US to pause any planned intervention for 100 days
    • Says service chiefs who don’t deliver after 90 days should be fired
    • Trump wrong to introduce religion into Nigeria’s security challenges – Mustapha

The General Overseer Of The Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Yesterday Weighed In On The US Threat Against Nigeria.

He urged President Bola Tinubu to act swiftly, wisely, and diplomatically to address the issues surrounding the alleged Christian genocide in the country.

He spoke during this month’s Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption City camp ground in Ogun State.

A think tank, the Independent Media and Policy Initiative (IMPI), said President Donald Trump’s redesignation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) stemmed from “jaundiced, obtrusive data provided by local and international groups with ulterior motives.”

Chairman of IMPI, Dr Omoniyi Akinsiju, accused Intersociety, a local NGO, and Open Doors, a Christian charity, as two of the entities that have been “spawning false data to misrepresent the security situation in Nigeria.”

Adeboye asked the federal government to adopt a balanced and strategic approach to the security challenges.

“If I am asked to make suggestions, I will say quietly to the governments to move wisely, diplomatically,” he said.

He added: “Find a way to convince the President of America to please delay his actions for about 100 days, and then come home and tell our security chiefs to get rid of these terrorists within 90 days or resign.”

He recalled a similar directive issued by former President Muhammadu Buhari, which he said was not effectively followed through.

“There was a President, Buhari, who issued such an order. He called the service chiefs together and said, ‘Get rid of these Boko Haram people or resign.’

“He ran with that advice, but he did not follow through because he gave the order as the Commander, but he did not follow up.

“The work was not done after three months, so I went to see him. I asked him, ‘Why did you not proceed with your threat?’

Adeboye said the fight against terrorism by the Tinubu Administration should not only target the foot soldiers but also their financiers and backers.

His words: “When giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, he should make it clear to them they are not only to eliminate the terrorists but also eliminate the sponsors, no matter how influential they may be.”

He also told government to be wary of offer of support from foreign countries as none would come to Nigeria’s rescue when the chips are down.

“When I say our leaders should move diplomatically, we must take note of the fact that if America should attack us, China is not coming to defend us. Likewise Russia and Britain.

“All the so-called world leaders, they will talk and condemn what America has done, but they won’t help us.”

‘Trump, you’re wrong to introduce religion into Nigeria’s security challenge’

A fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Mustapha Isah, faulted what he termed Trump’s introduction of religion into Nigeria’s security challenge.

Isah in a statement yesterday said the US president’s framing the current security challenges in the country as driven by religion was way off the mark as Christians, Muslims, animists and atheists have all been victims of insecurity in Nigeria.

Isah said there is abundant evidence to show that the Islamic fundamentalists terrorising parts of the country “do not have respect for the religious affiliation of their victims.”

“It is on record that Boko Haram insurgents have attacked several Mosques and killed thousands of Muslims in Borno, Yobe, Kano and Adamawa, while bandits have decimated hundreds of Muslims in Zamfara, Sokoto and Niger states,” he said.

“If the motive of the insurgents and bandits is to wipe out Christians as alleged by Trump, why are they also killing Muslims? This is to show that their motive goes beyond religion.

“The aim of the Islamic terrorists is to set up a Muslim theocratic enclave in northern Nigeria and are determined to crush anyone who opposes them, Christians and Muslims alike.

“There shouldn’t be a debate as to whether Muslims or Christians are being killed in Nigeria. No innocent life should be cut short by any violent group. It is the responsibility of the government to protect the life of every Nigerian.

“Humanity is diminished when life is lost unjustly. In spite of the defective nature of the 1999 consideration (as amended), it recognises the fact that the number one priority of government is the protection of life and property.

“No nation is completely immune from violence. The US itself experiences attacks on places of worship including churches, mosques and synagogues. But the perpetrators of such heinous crimes are swiftly brought to justice.

How Trump got his decision wrong – IMPI

The IMPI expressed concern over what it called the circulation of falsehoods which led to the US action against Nigeria.

It said: ‎”Long before this official response, merchants of tainted data had populated the social media space with obtrusive figures.

“The International Society for the Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) reported that 5,068 Christians were massacred in Nigeria in 2022, while Open Doors’ 2023 World Watch List reported that 5,014 Christians were killed for their faith in Nigeria in 2022, more than in the rest of the world combined.

“Those figures definitely did not portray the reality on the ground.

“In contrast to the figures being bandied by these NGOs, the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) for 2022 noted that there were 6,701 deaths from terrorism globally, a 9% decrease from the previous year and 38% lower than the 2015 peak.

“The number of terrorism incidents globally also fell by nearly 28%, from 5,463 in 2021 to 3,955 in 2022, while deaths in Nigeria dropped to 392 in 2022, the lowest level since 2011.

“However, fatalities increased by 34 per cent in 2023 to 533, and further to 565 in 2024, but not anywhere near the inflated figures generated by Intersociety, which reported that 8,222 Christians were killed in Nigeria in the 12 months between January 1, 2023, and January 1, 2024, describing it as the ‘deadliest in recent years’.

“Open Doors also reported that 82% of the 4,998 Christians killed globally for faith-related reasons in 2023 occurred in Nigeria, while the Observatory of Religious Freedom in Africa (ORFA) recorded 1,637 deaths of Christians between April and June 2023 alone.‎

‎“The trend continued in 2024 with this same set of advocacy groups providing higher figures for faith-related killings. A report from Open Doors claimed that 3,100 Christians were killed in Nigeria in 2024.

“According to the group, this made it the country with the most Christians killed globally for faith-based reasons that year.

“Another source published in August 2024 documented at least 7,087 Christians massacred in the first 220 days of the year (Humanangle.com, 2025).

‎“However, the Global Terrorism Index reported a fatality figure of 565 for 2024. This speaks to the industry of falsehood underpinning the advocacy to get Nigeria redesignated as a CPC.

“Yet, while we condemn any loss of life, the practical reality is that the data provided by GTI and Statista cannot, by any stretch of imagination, be described as genocide.

“Based on this background, we find it challenging to accept US President Trump’s decision to designate Nigeria as a CPC based on fictitious data circulated by a collection of NGOs.

‎“We expect the US to verify and validate any data presented to President Trump before using it to make a decision.”

In tracking InterSociety’s activities, IMPI said its researchers found that the group had since 2019 been cooking false data on what it called “Christian deaths” that were never in tandem with the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) and other reports on lethal violence in Nigeria.

“We note that in 2019, the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) reported a 39.1% decrease in terrorism deaths in Nigeria, from 2,043 in 2018 to 1,245 in 2019. The decline in fatalities, according to GTI, was primarily due to a fall in violence linked to Fulani extremists, despite a slight increase in common killings, the lowest since 2011.

‎“The GTI data is validated by Statista.com (Sasu, 2024). Though this 2019 terrorism data is in the public domain, the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety), a Nigerian Human Rights NGO in Anambra State, claimed there were between 1,000 and 1,200 “Christian deaths” in the same year.

“Another data contained in the ‘Ninth Annual Report on Lethal Violence in Nigeria’, which covers the period between January 1 and December 31, 2019, was collected by Vitus Nwankwo Ukoji, with the help of Abiola Victoria Ayodokun and Victor Chinedu Eze of the University of Ibadan, wherein the researchers submitted that fatalities from lethal incidents inched up by 5.6% in 2019 after a 1.4% decline. According to the Report, there were 11,277 violent deaths in 2019.

‎“The import here is that Intersociety attributed virtually all reported fatalities to Christian deaths. This is an example of the deliberate inflation of data regarding killings in Nigeria to in part inflame divisive passion among the people, and to justify the designation of the country as a CPC by the American government.

‎“The groups momentarily had their way in 2020, when, against all statistical sequences indicating a reduction in terrorism-related killings, especially those linked to religious conflicts, Trump, in the fourth year of his first term, declared and designated Nigeria as a CPC.

“It was a very questionable decision, given the declining number of terrorism-related deaths,” it said.

‎IMPI added that a better understanding of the situation in Nigeria through government-to-government engagement would lead to the US withdrawing Nigeria from its CPC list.

Kano protesters to Trump: No Christian genocide in Nigeria

Hundreds of Kano residents yesterday stormed the streets in an anti–Trump protest over the recent pronouncements of the US government on Nigeria.

The protesters, in a video circulating online, carried placards, chanting anti-US slogans.

The protesters moved from the Kano Central Mosque to Sabon Gari under the watch of security personnel.

There was no ugly incident while it lasted.

    Mustapha calls for collective effort

The immediate past  Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha, urged Nigerians to work together to address the country’s persistent security challenges in order to ensure peace and stability.

Mustapha, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt yesterday, said that the security challenges and agitations were becoming pandemic across the Sub-Saharan region which collective responsibility was needed to ensure peace in the region.

Mustapha, who was in Port Harcourt for the National Conference of the Full Gospel Business Men Fellowship (FGBMF), expressed concern over the security situation in the country, describing it as a recurring issue that has persisted across multiple administrations.

He explained that the administrations included those of Presidents Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan, Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Tinubu, adding that Nigeria’s security challenge was not new.

He recalled that during President Buhari’s administration, the government engaged with the Office of the Secretary of State (United States of America) through the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

He explained that the engagement was to address concerns raised by the international community, particularly USA, over the security situation in Nigeria.

Mustapha noted that the government was able to convince the US government that its concerns were being addressed, leading to the country being removed from a list of countries with religious freedom concerns in 2021.

He emphasised the need for Nigeria to deploy all its diplomatic resources to engage with other nations and attract investments.

“Security is a collective effort that requires intelligence gathering, dissemination and harmonisation of approaches,” he said.

Eliminate terrorists, sponsors to prevent US military action, Adeboye urges FG

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye has urged President Bola Tinubu to take urgent and diplomatic action to address security challenges.

Adeboye gave the advice on Friday during the November Holy Ghost Service while reacting to recent threats issued by US President Donald Trump.

He recommended a 90-day deadline for security chiefs to eliminate terrorist groups or face dismissal.

Adeboye also suggested that President Tinubu engage diplomatically with US President Donald Trump to secure a 100-day grace period before any international action is taken against Nigeria.

“Let the government use diplomatic methods to convince President Trump to give us 100 days of grace. All our service chiefs, fortunately, are new, should perform within three months, or resign,” he said.

Adeboye emphasised the importance of identifying and exposing sponsors of terrorism and insurgency, regardless of their influence.

He warned that if America attacks Nigeria, no foreign power, including China and Russia, would come to Nigeria’s aid.

“When giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, we should make it clear to them that they are not only to eliminate the terrorists but also their sponsors, no matter how influential they may be.

“When I say our leaders should move fast, move diplomatically, and move wisely, we must take note of the fact that if America should attack us, China is not coming to defend us. Russia will not come to defend us.

“All the so-called world leaders will talk, they will condemn what America has done in the strongest terms, that’s all they will do. Britain is not going to come and help us. No other foreign power will come to our aid.

He stressed that this is not a time for debates or arguments, but for practical action to protect lives.

“This is not the time for joking. This is not the time for drama. This is not the time for semantics. This is not the time to begin to argue, is it suicide or kidnapping or whatever name they call it? And this is not the time to say, ‘Ah, it’s not Christians alone, Muslims are also involved.’ The point is, people are dying. Innocent people are dying”, he added.

In his advice, Adeboye drew from his experience with past administrations, including that of late President Muhammadu Buhari, whom he advised to take decisive action against terrorism.

Unfortunately, those efforts were not sustained to achieve lasting peace.

“This is not the time for apportioning blame. Our President inherited this problem, it started before him.

“Some of you will remember who called the service chiefs together and said, ‘I give you three months, get rid of all these Boko Haram people or resign. It’s not allowed to tell you who gave him that advice. He ran with that advice, but he didn’t follow it through, because he gave the order as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and the security operatives moved fast.

“But three months went by, and the work was not done. So I went to see him. It wasn’t unusual. This time, somehow, the press got to know that I visited him. Of course, they were not there when we talked.

“Unfortunately, like I said, he’s not alive now. I would have asked you to go and ask him, ‘Sir, why didn’t you follow through? Because when three months passed and the work wasn’t done, why didn’t you proceed with your, are we going to call it threat?’

“I won’t tell you the details, but one thing came out of that meeting,” he said.

Adeboye to pray for singles, waiting mothers, families

The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch  Adeboye, will be leading a global prayer session dedicated to singles, mature singles, waiting mothers, expectant mothers and their families during the church’s November 2025 Thanksgiving Service.

The service, which holds on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 8:00 a.m., will take place at The Throne of Grace, RCCG National Headquarters, Ebute-Metta, Lagos. It is expected to draw millions of participants both physically and virtually from across the world.

According to a statement by Pastor Oladele Balogun, Special Assistant to the General Overseer (Administration), the special prayer session is a divinely inspired move aimed at bringing hope, restoration, and breakthroughs to individuals and families trusting God for marital settlement, conception, and new beginnings.

He noted that recent population surveys indicate that in Nigeria alone, singles and mature singles between the ages of 20 and 45 represent over 40% of the adult population, highlighting a vibrant but growing segment seeking divine intervention for marital settlement.

“Globally, millions of waiting and expectant mothers—many within the RCCG’s vast network spanning over 190 nations—continue to trust God for the fruit of the womb, making this service a deeply spiritual and emotional moment for families united in faith and expectation,” he said.

He noted that those residing within Lagos and its environs are encouraged to attend the service physically.

Adeboye urges Nigerians to elevate God for progress, as Sanwo-olu reiterates commitment to serve

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has urged Nigerians who desire to be elevated beyond limits to recognise the sovereignty of God as the ‘King of Kings,’ whose power cannot be fathomed.

He gave the admonition yesterday, during the monthly thanksgiving service with the theme: ‘King of kings,’ which was attended by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his wife, Ibijoke and members of his cabinet at the RCCG headquarters, The Throne of Grace, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

At the service, he prayed for government executives, legislators, politicians, electoral institutions, elder statesmen and the people of Nigeria, among others.

Adeboye, who gave thanks for Nigeria on the celebration of its 65th anniversary of Independence, described Nigerians as  ‘wonderful’ for weathering the storm, but counselled that honouring God as an exceptional King will usher the nation into a new dispensation of every Nigerian’s dream.

“When God elevates a person, no obstacle or opposition can stand in the way of that elevation.

“If human beings are the ones lifting you up, sooner or later their hands will grow heavy, and they will bring you down. But when God is the one promoting you, there is no limit to your promotion because His hands are everlasting,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu at the service appreciated the privilege of himself and his wife, including members of his cabinet being at the service, which he said he didn’t take for granted.

“I want to assure you that this government is a committed one that would do a lot more than what it has done in the past. It is our desire to see positive changes in the lives of our people, and I want to assure you that as long as I have breath, I will continue to serve and serve well,” he said.
