  • Cobhams, Falz, Adekunle Gold to perform at AMVCAs

    •Special performance by Niger-Delta Dance Troupe, SEKI

    Come Saturday, September 1, song writer and producer, Cobhams Asuquo, rapper and song writer, Falz and highlife singer, Adekunle Gold will light up the stage at the sixth edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs).

    Cobhams who recently released the video to his hit single, ‘One Hit’, will captivate audiences with his powerful vocals while versatile rapper, Falz TheBahdGuy will bring his signature sound and high energy on stage performing some of his most loved songs. Meanwhile, alternative singer-songwriter, Adekunle Gold, who is still fresh off his sophomore album, ‘About 30’ will also perform alongside his band, The 70th Element.

    And attendees and viewers will also get to see live on stage the SEKI traditional dance troupe. The dance drama group are heavily influenced by traces of American tap dance which originate from five different masquerade groups of the lower Niger Delta area of Nigeria. On the opposite end of the spectrum, will be a classical performance by Omo Bello, the award-winning Nigerian soprano and a special performance by singer and Big Brother Naija 2017 alumni, Bisola Aiyeola.

    The AMVCAs, a celebration of African film and TV talent will be broadcast live on all Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv.

  • Adekunle Gold, Simi in show of affection on London stage

    While  his tour was taking place in the UK, Adekunle Gold had Simi sing with him in a show of affection on stage while they were performing together at the ‘About 30’ concert at the IndigO2 Arena in London.

    The move made their followers encourage the two singers to make their relationship official.

    With Adekunle Gold uploading their picture and referring to her as “And my song bird”, Simi did the same uploading their video where the singer was seen holding her on the waist while they did their song to the delight of the fans who tried to capture the moment with phones.

    The show of affection shown by Adekunle Gold while looking at Simi is evidence to his revelation some months ago when he opened up on their relationship.

    The artiste, who has always kept his relationship private, made the revelation oduring an interview with Channels Television’s Sunrise Saturday.

  • Celebrities turn up for Adekunle Gold’s listening party

    It was a gathering of celebrities as urban highlife crooner, Adekunle Gold held the listening party of his sophomore album, ‘About 30.’

    The event which held at Upbeat Recreation Centre, Lekki, Lagos last Friday was hosted by Nollywood actress Kemi Lala Akindoju and had in attendance celebrities like Omawunmi, Falz, Seyi Shay, Emma Oh My God, Woli Arole, Lasisi Elenu, Pheelz, Praiz, Ric Hassani, Denola Grey, Cobhams Asuquo, Tobi Bakre, Dotun, Alex and others.

    Donning his signature embroidered cap, Adekunle sat across the audience with the host; Kemi seated right next to him. As each track came on, the singer elucidates and narrates the unique story behind their inspiration, creative process, production and recording experience.

    The singer explained that ‘About 30’ embodies the various experiences of his life, right from his childhood to the present day. On the album’s opening track ‘Ire’ which was the first released single, Adekunle revealed the song aims to instill in the listener, the importance of resilience and self-content. On the next song, ‘Down with You’; the singer revealed working with DYO on the song was an exhilarating experience and on ‘Mr. Foolish’ featuring Afrobeats musician Seun Kuti, Adekunle expressed gratitude for working with Seun, describing the making of the song as incredibly momentous.

    Adekunle also gave background details of other songs such as ‘Surrenda’, ‘Damn Delilah’, ‘Yoyo’ featuring Flavour, ‘Money’, ‘Pablo Alakori’ and ‘Remember.’

    The listening party ended with Adekunle appreciating everyone who contributed to the making of the album. He also gave special thanks to Simi for directing, mixing and mastering the album, saying he trusts her genius.

  • Adekunle Gold releases ‘About 30’

    Urban highlife singer, Adekunle Gold after months of delay, has released his 2nd and sophomore album titled `About 30′.

    His newly released album ‘About 30’ which is expected to be another great hit from the artiste, is a follow up on his first album titled ‘Gold.’

    Adekunle Gold with excitement made the announcement on his tweeter handle @adekunleGOLD on Friday .
    He wrote: I am really emotional right now. “I could cry happy tears.

    “This album, #About30, is a reflection of my heart, my fears, my pleasures, my pain, my losses and my faith.

    “With the love you give me? I would do it again and again and again and one more time.

    Some of the songs includes: Ire, Down With You (feat. Dyo), Mr. Foolish (feat. Seun Kuti) Surrender, Damn Delilah, Yoyo (feat. Flavour), Money and Pablo Alakori.

    He earlier released ‘Ire’, a song also added to the album, which was aimed at craving the appetite of his fans and it automatically became a hit song.

    Unlike his debut album where the only featured artist was Simi, Adekunle Gold expanded his range working with the likes of DYO, Flavour, Seun Kuti and the Lagos Community Gospel Choir.

    Meanwhile one of the songs, Damn Delilah, is already generating controversy on various social media platforms. Adekunle Gold has really paid his dues, and like the popular phrase, he deserves some accolades.

  • Adekunle Gold surprises fans with ‘About 30’ tracklist

    Fans have taken to social media to commend and laud urban highlife singer Adekunle Gold for personally mailing them to unveil the tracklist to his sophomore studio album ‘About 30’.

    Earlier, the singer urged fans to sign up on the upcoming album’s official website www.about30.info; assuring them something special awaits them. In the wake of the announcement, thousands of fans obliged.

    The ‘Ire’ singer went on to send some of the fans personalized emails; thanking each of them for their patience and loyalty and showing them the tracklist – which contains 14 tracks and two bonus tracks.

    Some of the fans immediately expressed their enthusiasm – with many particularly praising Adekunle Gold for honouring them and taking time out to personally reach out to them. One fan wrote; “I’ve been a fan of Adekunle Gold’s music since he released ‘Sade’. ‘Gold’ album is still one of my favourites and I’m sure ‘About 30’ will be better! He just sent me the tracklist and it’s looking hot!”

    Adekunle explained his decision to personally get in touch with the fans, commenting; “I’ve been dying to release this album to the world. I’ve really worked hard for this I believe my true friends deserve every news about it first.”

    Being a direct follow-up to the singer’s debut album ‘Gold’, which ended on track 16, ‘About 30’ tracklist picks up from where he left off; with the first track starting at number 17 – an apparent continuation of his previous album.

    The tracklist also revealed Seun Kuti, Flavour, Dyo, LCGC, among others as collaborators on the album.

    Though the official release date of the album is yet to be revealed, the singer has promised fans it would be phenomenal.

  • Adekunle Gold thrills at ’30’ album listening

    Penultimate Friday, urban highlife singer Adekunle Gold played to a choice audience at the third edition of ‘Trace Live’ at the Terra Kulture Arena.

    Tagged ‘Trace Live Presents Adekunle Gold: About 30’, the event started with Gold’s band 79th Element serenading the crowd before he performed his songs. He wrapped things up with a choir backed emotional rendition of his current hit song, ‘Ire’ off his sophomore album ‘About 30’ to be released later this month.

    The red carpet kicked off at 6pm with guests enjoying cocktails provided by Hennessy and Pepsi.

    Adekunle Gold’s highlife infused sound clearly strikes a special chord with music lovers, demonstrated by the crowd in attendance, including Falz The Bhad Guy, TEC of Show Dem Camp, Dice Ailes, CDQ, Falana, Kaline, Ric Hassani, Pencil, MC Acapella, Lamide Akintobi, Lala Akindoju, Tania Omotayo, Afua Osei, Bolanle Olukanni and several housemates of the just concluded Big Brother Naija Season3, among others.

    The event also featured an interactive element where Gold’s fans got to ask questions by Twitter, which showed on the main screen and Gold answered in-between songs.

    According to Sam Onyemelukwe, Trace Managing Director, Adekunle Gold still maintains the space he has occupied since his entrant into the music industry.

    “AG just proved why he holds a special place in the music Industry and he has set the bar really high for the next artist who is lucky enough to feature on Trace Live. By the end of the show the entire audience was out of their seats and dancing. We will proudly broadcast this thrilling show on Trace channels across Africa and Europe,” he said.

  • Adekunle Gold, Joke Silva, others for Nigerian Creative Arts Exchange

    With the aim of attracting investment and tourism to Nigeria, the Embassy of Nigeria in France, come Saturday May 19, at Le Pavilion Dauphine, Paris, Saint Clair, will host hosts business community and friends of Nigeria to an exhibition of some of Nigeria’s finest art, cuisine, fashion, music, film and traditional games, on the platform of the Nigerian Creative Arts Exchange.

    Described as a platform for promoting cultural exchange and diplomacy and enhancing social and economic collaboration between Nigeria and the world, The Nigerian Creative Arts Exchange also aims to develop channels for commerce between Nigeria and France.

    Making the announcement at a press conference held a Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos last Friday, the Nigerian Ambassador to France, Dr. Modupe Irele said that the Nigerian Creative Arts Exchange will create a forum where participants can make enquiries, network and build useful links, in a relaxed setting.

    According to her, the Nigeria Creative Arts Exchange will beam the light on other fresh trading products as it focuses on Nigeria’s rich creativity and presents a diverse display of products in the arts and the wider Nigerian culture, enabling the French business and travelling public to better understand the tremendous opportunities that lie in this jewel of West Africa.

    “Our art, music, film, fashion and in recent times, our food too, have caught and received international attention and acclaim. They have shown that they are industries that can and in many cases already are successfully operating internationally, at the requisite high standards,” she added.

    The Nigerian Creative Arts Exchange will feature among its creative industry giants, including acclaimed visual arts curator, Bisi Silva; Ituen Bassey Andrea Iyamah, Lanre Da Silva, Chef Fregz, Kemi Lala Akindoju, Adekunle Gold and a host of others.

    The exhibition is supported by Nigeria’s Bank of Industry, Emzor Pharmaceutical, UBA, Total, Lagos State Government, CIUC Consulting, Institut Francais, NEPC, CCI France Nigeria, SJ Tours, Aart of Life Foundation, French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.     For fans of both artistes, it’s been rather the relationship status between Adekunle Gold and Simi has been a little bit confusing.

    However, Gold seems to have laid speculations that there is something between them to rest with a birthday message he sent to the songstress n her birthday.

    He wrote; “To the girl that deserves every good thing in the world, thank you for giving my life a meaning. Happy birthday babe”.

    With this new revelation, and going by fans’ reactions, it can be cleared that other related stories concerning the Simi’s relationship with Falz which can be said to be false.

    Though Gold has always indirectly spoken fondly of Simi, she has however kept her relationship private.

    In the past there have been several comments and insinuations from people, on social media about been in a love relationship with two of her colleagues, Adekunle Gold and Falz the Bahd Guy.

    Adekunle Gold is on top of the world at the moment over his upcoming concert slated for June 29, 2018, at IndigoO2,  tagged ‘Live In Concert.’

    Posting a short video on Twitter, Adekunle Gold wrote: “Most times I act cool like all this is nothing…but this Ikotun boy’s face is on the wall of the #o2indigo. There is no word in the dictionary to explain how I feel physically. My heart though? My heart is feeling grateful to you all”.

    This comes in addition to the endorsement deal he recently signed with Unity Bank. Sharing the good news with his fans on Instagram with the caption; UNITY means the state of being joined together as a whole.

    Since he came into Nigerian consciousness with the release of his single ‘Sade’ and ‘Orente’ under YBNL Nation, Adekunle Gold has continued to soar.

    ‘One Night Stand’, an intimate moment with fans, says Adekunle Gold

    Celebrated Nigerian singer, Adekunle Gold has promised that his forthcoming show, ‘One Night Stand; Adekunle Gold and the 79th Elements’, will be an intimate moment with his fans.

    According to the ‘Sade’ crooner, the show which comes up on Tuesday, December 26 at Federal palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, will present an opportunity for him to bond with his fans and together, they can sing their hearts out.

    “I want it to be an intimate moment with my fans where we can talk and sing our hearts out. It is going to be an amazing night. This is the last leg of the show. It was fantastic in London. It was amazing in Dublin, and Lagos is on. It will be a larger crowd. There’s going to be lots of music. There will be surprises and the stage will be electrifying,” the singer revealed.

    Speaking further, the singer stated that the decision to hold the last leg of the concert in Lagos was borne out a desire to save the best for the last. The show started in London where it held on June 30. From there it was taken to Dublin on June 7 before returning home for a finale.

    “I’m happy to say that I sold out at O2 venue at London because it was filled to capacity and everybody came on time. It was simply mind-blowing. The same goes for Dublin. It was a 750 capacity. That was another sold out show,” he adds.

    Gold, who describes his sound as Urban Highlife, a fusion of pop and highlife, also revealed that there will be guest artistes on the show.

    “I’ll be performing along with Simi, and several other artistes. Simi is coming because we have a song together. Hopefully, there will be a surprise artiste,” he enthused.
