    I don’t want my daughter to suffer like me- Adekunle Gold

    Singer Adekunle Kosoko aka Adekunle Gold has said he is striving so hard for his daughter, Adejare. 

    He said all his hard work is basically for his daughter to live a better life than he did while growing up.

    AG Baby, as he is fondly called, said he is releasing multiple singles and projects to make enough money to cater for his child’s education and other needs.

    He spoke in a recent chat with famous Youtuber, Tayo Aina.

    He said his family is the “centre” of his life.

    According to him: “Being a father is a huge responsibility that I love by the way. Knowing that I have a huge responsibility to raise a queen. You know, my family is my center. Anywhere they are is my happy place.

    “That is one of the reasons I’m hustling hard. Because this girl, the life that I lived growing up, she can’t do the same. That’s why I’m dropping school fees’ music for you people.”

    He said being married to someone who is also an artiste has made his life easier because he doesn’t have to do a lot of explanations about his busy schedule.

    Adekunle Gold and singer, Simi got married in January, 2019, after dating for five years.

    The couple welcomed their daughter, Adejare, aka Deja in May 2020.

    Controversial singer Portable has called out his senior colleague Adekunle Gold for requesting a video challenge promotion from him and not a feature. 

    According to Zeh master, AG baby reached out requesting he jumps on the challenge competition for his song to reach a wider audience.

    However, Portable noted that what he wants from the singer is a feature and not a video challenge.

    In a widely circulated video, the street singer jokingly teased AG judging with his already built career. 

    According to him: “That’s how Adekunle Gold, who is popular, reached out and said I should join the social media challenge on his new song rather than a song feature.”

    Afrobeats pop star, Adekunle Kosoko aka Adekunle Gold, has said the idea behind having his hair braided is not for ‘shakara’ nor branding purposes.

    The father of one said he loves exploring new things, hence his braided hair.

    The ‘Ogaranya’ vocalist disclosed this while featuring as a guest on MTV Base Africa’s programme, Touching Base, hosted by actress Susan Pwajok.

    He said: “There was no plan for my braided hairstyle to be like a brand.

    “In 2019, my hair was growing. Remember when I had that punk. And I was like, let me even try a new side of me. Let me even try to grow this hair and then make it. And I have a really nice core pattern, whatever you guys called it. Core texture.

    “But, yeah. I just decided to grow it and it looks good on me.”

    Lagbaja, Wande Coal and Adekunle Gold over the weekend mesmerized guests with a scintillating fusion of music at the Johnnie, Jazz & Whisky (JJW) music showcase, which held at Lekki Special Events Center, Lagos.

    Adekunle Gold opened the night with some of his hit songs such as Ire, By You and Orente, before the masked one; Lagbaja came on stage and captioned the audience with smooth renditions of Never Far Away, Nothing For You and Konko Below.

    Lagbaja later invited Cobhams Asuquo who was among the guest to sing a verse with him to the delight of fans.

    Soulful singer, Wande Coal was not left behind as he ended the magical night with fine melodies from his crowd-pleasing hit songs.

    The JJW evening of glitz and glamour, style and flavours, was another night of success for Johnnie, Jazz & Whisky; a truly unforgettable experience.

  • Singer, Simi set to release second album

    Popular alternative singer, Simisola Ogunleye aka Simi has announced the release date for her second album ‘Omo Charlie Champagne’.

    News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ‘I don’t care’ singer made the announcement on her Instagram page @simplysimi with the caption, “On the day I was born, my next album will be born.”

    She went on to announce the album name and the release date – April 19 on the post. This album swiftly follows ‘Simisola’, her debut album which was released in 2017.

    ‘Simisola’ went on to win ‘Album of the Year’ at the Headies and contained a bunch of fantastic singles, including ‘Joromi’, ‘Lovin’, ‘I Dun Care’ and ‘Ayo’.

    Simi, who made her musical debut with ‘Ogaju’ in 2008, recently got married to fellow afro-alternative musician and long time partner, Adekunle Gold.

    The singer’s career came into limelight in 2014 after she released “Tiff”, a song which was nominated in two categories at The Headies 2015 and further brought her to mainstream recognition. (NAN)

  • Simi to release 3rd Album on 31st Birthday

    Popular Nigerian Afro Pop Singer, Simisola Ogunleye a.k.a. Simi said her third studio album `Omo Charlie Champagne’ would be released on April 19, her 31st birthday.

    The Ojuelegba born singer who recently got wedded to her fellow singer Adekunle Gold, took to her Instagram handle @symplysimi on Tuesday to announce the release date of the much awaited album.

    “On the day that I was born, my next album will be born.’’

    The X3M artiste released her sophomore album, `Simisola’ in 2017.

    The 12 track album enjoyed mainstream success which made it the first album to hit one million mark on streaming platform, Boom play.

    `Omo Charlie Champagne’ would be the former gospel singer and songwriter’s third studio work following her debut effort, `Ogaju released in 2008.

    The Jam Question and Open and Close crooner has collaborated with top artistes like Falz, Praiz, Adekunle Gold and Johnny Drille.

    Her journey to stardom started in January 2014 when she released a five tracker EP titled Restless that eventually earned her a record deal with X3M Music.

    The video for her song `Tiff’ was released on Aug. 30, 2015; the song was nominated in the `Best Alternative Song’ Category at the 2015 edition of The Headies Award.

    Later in 2015, she won `Most Promising Act to Watch’ Category in the 2015 Entertainment Awards.

    On Feb. 14, 2016, Simi released one of her most successful single, `Love Don’t Care’, a ballad which received positive reviews and tremendous airplay.

    She has raised to stardom within a short time with positive vibes and it is believed that her third album would not fall below her fans’ expectations.

  • Simi gushes over husband Adekunle Gold at 32

    Nigerian singer, Simisola Ogunleye, aka, Simi has celebrated her husband, Adekunle Gold on his 32nd birthday.

    The duo got married in a private ceremony earlier in the year with 300 guests in attendance.

    Award-winning Simi took to her Instagram account to convey sweet words to her singer husband.

    Just married singer Simi has dropped a new single titled ‘Ayo.’

    Simi who married fellow singer Adekunle Gold a fortnight ago in Lagos released the song while the couple were on honeymoon in South Africa.

    This is a brand new song by the songstress, coming after the duet, ‘Promise’ by she and her husband, Adekunle Gold.

    In several Instagram posts, she shared different videos of people exhibiting smiles.

    Talking about the song whose title means Joy in English, Simi, who is signed on Xtreme Music, shared a prayer with her fans.

    “Every line is a prophecy,” she wrote.

    “For you. For me. This song is a gift. I pray that the words become your truth.”

    The song was produced by Legendary Beatz.

    Simi released her debut in 2008 titled ‘Ogaju’ but it was in 2014 she came into limelight with the release of her song, ‘Tiff.’

    The audio of the song which was produced by legendury Beatz talks about the singer’s expression of joy forever and request for better things to come.

    The new song ‘Ayo’ in Yoruba dialect, which translates to ’Joy’ was the singer ‘s first solo single for the new year after her joint single with her husband and singer Adekunle Gold.

    The music star song expressed thankfulness to God and looking forward to good things and greater expectations to her new song and marriage.

    The afro-alternative song contained lyrics of her speaking of the joy and God’s blessing for her and her entire household this year.

  • Adekunle Gold, Simi make vows with ‘promise’

    Not satisfied that their low-key beach themed celebrity wedding trended online since last week, newly-weds Adekunle Gold and Simi, on Thursday, proved their love further with the release of a new single titled ‘Promise’.

    In a clip which the couple have shared, they are seen dressed in wedding dresses and serenading each other in an enclosure on the beach.

    Sharing snips of the music video on their Instagram accounts, they made what seemed like vows to each other.

    On his part, Adekunle Gold wrote, “If I lose it all, will you still be there for me?

    #Promise” while Simi wrote “Love is love is love #Promise.”

    Their wedding penultimate Wedneday and Thursday in Lagos reportedly had only 300 guests including the families and friends of the couple. Guests were not allowed to take photographs of the event and it was only this week that some pictures of the wedding surfaced.

    For many years, speculations had been rife as to whether Adekunle Gold and Simi were dating. In fact, Falz The Bad Guy was even romantically linked with Simi, especially after they also did a collaboration together.
