Adeniji Adele – Falomo Road rehabilitation/restriction begins Monday — FG

The Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Works says rehabilitation work on the Adeniji Adele – Falomo road will commence on Monday, May 13.

The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mrs Korede Kesha, announced this in a statement on Saturday in Lagos.

She said that Adeniji Adele – Falomo road would be progressively closed in sections for rehabilitation work, from Falomo roundabout to Adeniji Adele (both bounds).

She said that one section would be fully repaired and reopened to traffic before work begins on the next section.

Kesha said that motorists would be diverted to nearby streets to access alternative routes during the closure.

She said that the first section closed would be from Glover Junction to Falomo, urging motorists to use alternative routes.

Kesha thanked the public for their cooperation, stressing that traffic management officials will be deployed to minimise inconvenience during construction.

She, therefore, emphasised the federal government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Federal Government had in April announced that resurfacing work on the Third Mainland Bridge will commence from Adeniji inward Falomo, to restore the integrity and aesthetics of the bridges.

The project, which is an extension of the original plan, will continue where it left off on the Third Mainland Bridge.

    Sunshine’s Adeniji joins Levski Sofia

PFC Levski Sofia have completed the signing of Tunde Adeniji from Sunshine Stars on a three-year deal.

Adeniji was in blistering form in the Nigeria Professional Football League last season and scored 16 goals for the Owena Waves in their failed bid to emerge as league champions.

The 19-year-old forward also represented Nigeria at the 2016 African Nations Championship in Rwanda, and he will now continue his career in the Bulgarian topflight till 2019.

“I want to confirm to you that I have joined Bulgarian side Levski Sofia. This is one of the biggest things to have happened to me as a footballer and I know this is the right step to move forward in my career,” Adeniji told Goal.

“Levski is a great club where I will do my utmost to develop myself and to make my contribution to the team’s success. The way I’ve been welcomed by the players, the staff and the club’s employees was great. This club seems the right place for me to show my skills and character,” he concluded.

Sunshine’s Adeniji focused on winning NPFL title

Sunshine Stars striker ,Tunde Adeniji has said he will not be leaving the club this transfer window as he targets the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title.

The 20-year-old was a target for champions Enyimba as well as Warri Wolves and Kano Pillars, after scoring 16 goals last term but he said he has given his word to his current club that he won’t be leaving them this window and has every intention of keeping his word.

“I already told my club that I will not be leaving them now. Even the new coach (Samson Unuanel) called me and asked me to stay and I promised him I would,” Adeniji said.

“So for now I am still with Sunshine and I have not joined Enyimba or Kano Pillars, I am still with my club.”

When asked if he would have turned down the opportunity to play abroad if offers came, his response was rather non-committal.

He said: “Well I don’t know about that and it’s not like I didn’t get some offers but God knows best and for now I remain a Sunshine player. Whenever God says is the right time to move, I will move but for now I am focused on Sunshine and how we can win the league title next season,” he added.

Adeniji was part of Nigeria’s team to the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Rwanda but failed to find the back of the net in three games.

  • Efugh backs Adeniji, Chikatara to shine

Efugh backs Adeniji, Chikatara to shine

Nigeria head coach, Sunday Oliseh, has named the roster for the 2016 African Nations Championship (Chan) and as expected last season’s NPFL leading scorer, Gbolahan Salami, is not listed.

The Wolves forward failed to turn up in the team’s training camp in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, thereby fuelling speculation of a possible move abroad in the January transfer window. However, one man who has played in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) for more than a decade believes that the Super Eagles can cope in the absence of Salami.

Efugh told supersport.com that Salami is a fantastic player but believes the Nigerian squad for the CHAN can soldier on without him.

The Heartland FC captain also named two players who are capable of standing up and getting counted in the absence of Salami. He believes Chisom Chikatara and Tunde Adeniji will come good.

“Well I don’t think (Salami’s absence) will affect the team,” began the Heartland FC captain. “No doubt he is a fantastic player but the team are experienced enough.

“In football, the absence of a player or players can always lead provide the opportunity for others to thrive. Like I said, Salami is a fantastic player but his absence will give others the chance and I think Chisom and Tunde are capable of doing very well too.”

Apart from backing the duo of Adeniji and Chikatara, who scored a combined 29 league goals for their clubs, Abia Warriors and Sunshine Stars respectively, in the NPFL last term, Efugh is confident the Nigerian squad are good enough to win the 2016 Chan.

“Yes I see them winning the trophy,” the former Enugu Rangers man said to supersport.com. “They (the Nigerian team) have experienced players.”

However, before thinking of the African title, Nigeria will have to navigate through a group with Tunisia, Niger Republic and Guinea as opponents.

The Nigerians began their bid to reach the quarterfinal stage of the Chan against Niger Republic at the Stade Regional Nyamirambo in Kigali, Rwanda on January 18.

Adeniji coy on talk of Wydad Casablanca deal

Tunde Adeniji would not be drawn on talk of him joining Wydad Casablanca from Sunshine Stars on a permanent basis as several clubs want his services.

The forward had an impressive season with the Akure Gunners in the 2014/2015 Nigeria Professional Football League season scoring 16 times despite his team’s inability to seal a CAF Confederation Cup ticket.

Reports claimed that the Botola Pro side is on the verge of securing the services of the former Rising Stars player to reinforce their attack, but Adeniji was quick to dismiss the subject insisting his focus is the African Nations Championship.

“That’s not true, I remain a player of Sunshine Stars. To be candid, I have received offers from several clubs within and outside Africa but I will take my time before deciding on my next destination,” Adeniji told Goal.

“It is a good thing to have been linked with Wydad but there is nothing concrete between us. Anyway, we never can tell what the future holds.”
