He led an exemplary life, says Afenifere

The National Leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Chief Reuben Fasoranti,  has expressed grief over the passing of the former Governor of Kwara State, Chief Cornelius Adebayo.

He said in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, that Adebayo was a patriotic Nigerian, a democrat and an Afenifere chieftain who greatly espoused and exemplified the Omoluabi ethos that Yorubas hold very dear.

Fasoranti said the late scholar and politician made great and positive impacts in various places he traversed while alive.

He added: “An Awoist to the core, C.O. was a tireless advocate for justice and a moral force in the Nigerian public life. As Governor of the old Kwara State, and later as Minister of Communications and later, Transport, he distinguished himself as a leader of uncommon integrity, depth, and unwavering commitment to the common good”.

Adebayo was also commissioner in the old Kwara State, now Kwara and Kogi States. Hhe left indelible marks in the state particularly in the area of education.

Fasorati said Adebayo’s commitment to the causes he believed in came into sharp focus during the struggle for the actualisation of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election won by Chief Moshood Abiola.

The Yoruba leader said: “He was in the trenches with many other patriots in Nigeria. He suffered for it and had to go into exile when he had the opportunity to do so.

“He had to do this because the authorities then were after his life as they did to many of us who were fighting for the restoration of the annulled election”.

Fasoranti said due to his efforts during the agitations for the actualisation of the June 12 presidential election among others, Adebayo deserved recognition among the heroes of that struggle.

He added: “In view of how he distinguished himself in the public offices he served, Adebayo’s exemplary conduct should be emulated in terms of how one should act when in a position of leadership where honesty, intelligence, courage, service and principled commitment to public good are highly needed”.

Fasoranti said Afenifere shares in the grief by the family of the late patriot, his associates, the people of Oke-Onigbin and Kwara State as well Nigeria in general “on this irreparable loss.”

Afenifere hails Tinubu for kick-starting Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, other key projects

The Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for his administration’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure, particularly road projects that directly impact citizens’ lives.

Speaking to journalists at the Akure Airport on Tuesday, Afenifere’s General Secretary, Sola Ebiseni, praised the President for flagging off the first phase of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, describing it as a landmark initiative.

Ebiseni noted that the coastal highway project would not only enhance connectivity across regions but also usher in a new era of infrastructural development for the Niger Delta and surrounding areas.

He commended the Tinubu administration for its bold steps in actualising projects that had long been on the drawing board, saying such efforts would bring economic growth and social transformation to the people.

“I notice some monumental initiatives, particularly in the area of road infrastructure development. Take the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, for instance.

“We have archival records that the road was proposed around 1900 when the Ilaje coastal territory of the present Ondo State was still part of Lagos Colony. There was already a telegraphic line which connected Lagos through Ilaje to Warri along the Atlantic corridor.

“The road was designed in alignment with the telegraphic route to link Lagos Colony with the Southern Protectorate, whose headquarters were then incidentally at Calabar,” he said.

Mr Ebeseni recalled that an agreement to link the road was reached in 1900 when Sir William Macgregor, Governor of Lagos Colony, was on tour of the Ilaje, the eastern boundary of the colony up to around the Benin River in Warri Division.

“The document was later signed on the 12th January 1904 between Sir William Macgregor, Governor of Lagos Colony, and Sir Wyndham Roseberry of Southern Protectorate.

“President Tinubu has taken such a bold step in launching this historic road project which, if faithfully implemented, would be the most monumental, particularly in the Niger Delta.”

He charged President Tinubu to allow the road project to follow the coastline of Ilaje in Ondo State, aside from the coastal route of Lagos.

Fielding questions on the division rocking the group, Mr Ebeseni said the two factions of the late Ayo Adebanjo and Pa Reuben Fasoranti have what it takes to come together in unionism.

According to him, Afenifere is a welfarist socio-political organisation with an ideological stance that has been maintained since 1951 with an unambiguous position on national issues.

“At critical times in our national life in the Action Group, UPN, SDP/NADECO, AD, AD/APP and presently, there have been contests on ideological ground which have always been resolved according to Awolowo on the interplay of thesis and antithesis.

“The current disagreement is not so deep in my view. It is between strict adherence to its historical socio-political character of Awolowo’s political world view and the new romance with being a Yoruba socio-cultural organisation of all-comers.

“No viable organisation, including political parties, is spared the bug of centrifugal forces today in our country. The new leader has what it takes to navigate the mines and bring all together.”

Afenifere hails Tinubu over Southwest Development Commission

The Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) has expressed optimism that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s initiative on regional development commissions will expand economic growth in the Southwest region.

The Ekiti State coordinator, Elder Bunmi Awotiku, stated this in Ado-Ekiti at an event marking 32nd anniversary of June 12, Democracy Day in the country.

Awotiku praised Tinubu for his visionary leadership and commitment to regional development and integration, said the initiative is a welcome development that will harness the region’s socioeconomic potential and promote development.

The event, themed “June 12: Economic Imperatives of Southwest Development Commission,” featured a lecture by Professor Taiwo Owoeye of Ekiti State University.

Awotiku commended Tinubu for his efforts in promoting democracy and development in Nigeria, noting that the President’s initiatives are a testament to his commitment to the country’s growth and progress.

Reflecting on the significance of June 12 in Nigeria’s democratic history, the ARG Coordinator, said the 1993 presidential election laid a solid foundation for the country’s democratic growth.

Awotiku lamented the annulment of the freest and credible election won by late Moshood Abiola and the loss of lives during the protests but lauded sacrifices made by Nigerians, which ultimately paved the way for the country’s current democratic dispensation.

He said, “Many here may have not witnessed the election, but we thank God for the ARG , if not for the group, History as a subject wouldn’t have been reintroduced back into the school curriculum.

“Our people are fast forgetting our history, most of children don’t know who is Segun Odegbami, Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, even MKO Abiola, we only hear their names but the elders here will know the story of June 12.

“The spontaneous reaction of Nigerians against the annulment of the election led to the killing of people on the streets of Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Kano and across Nigeria. But let us thank God, because if not for June 12, there won’t be Biodun Oyebanji and talking about shared prosperity.

“It is because of June 12 that we have democracy in Nigeria and our own Bola Tinubu as President. This has brought freedom and development to Nigeria in all spheres. We need to remind ourselves, where were are coming from , where are we and where are we heading to ? It is this agitation that gave birth to ARG”, he added.

Owoeye, in his lecture, suggested that states in the Southwest region should leverage their comparative advantages to achieve common goals.

He emphasised the need for regional integration, citing the ongoing coastal road project from Lagos to Calabar as a catalyst for economic transformation.

The event drew various interest groups, artisans, market women, students, and government officials, who reflected on the significance of June 12 and the future of Nigeria’s democracy.

  • Afenifere wannabe

    Afenifere wannabe

Afenifere in 2025 is a mere shadow of the mighty Afenifere, which in 1999 packed quite a muscle; and wore a chip on its shoulders, determining who got what in political Yorubaland.

Still, playing the Afenifere leadership wannabe, even in its present sorry state, has own consequences.  That appears completely lost on the scions of the Afenifere faction that Chief Ayo Adebanjo created before he died.

Chief Adebanjo deluded himself as “leader” of Afenifere, when he knew the Afenifere Leader, Baba Reuben Fasoranti, was alive and well, if not so active.  When his wings were clipped, he declared himself “national leader” — non-existent in Afenifere storied lore.

Baba Adebanjo’s power grab was scuttled by the grim reaper. He probably thought Baba Fasoranti, older by two years, would go first.  Adebanjo did.

No one can say the late chief didn’t live an impactful life as a celebrated progressive.  But even his most doting fan would admit the “last-minute” stain to his name, by trying to upstage his leader, now risks defining his memory. History never forgets such things!

Still, the dead stay dead but the living have their daily chores to pursue.  Which is why the irony of Chief Adebanjo’s exit has not sunk in the band over which he paraded himself as “national leader”.

Oba Oladipo Olaitan — the new “national leader”? — and factional spokesperson, Justice Faloye, took the Tinubu Presidency at two to the cleaners.  That’s no crime. It’s a democracy, for God’s sake!

But when a traditional ruler dabbles into politics, under whatever cover, it seldom ends well.

Well, the Kano debacle is still playing out.  Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the radical  social critic, conflated self with Muhammadu Sanusi II, the conservative traditional ruler.  That led into a deposition.  Even the bid to return Sanusi to the throne has led to a peculiar mess, breeding two Emirs, one throne!

Even, history.  The Afenifere tendency are not unaware of the one-kobo-a-year royal salary.  They perfected it during the Action Group (AG) days.  That might be antiquated now, but there are always risks for royals playing blatant politics.

Still, if you must do that, why must it be linked to organizational disloyalty — Afenifere’s No. 1 crime — with which Baba Adebanjo signed off?

Let the “national leader” faction be careful.  The dead stay dumb.  But let the living not lug a needless can!

Afenifere never called for Akume’s suspension, says official

Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, led by Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has never called for the suspension of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, its Director of Organisation,  Chief Kole Omololu, said on Wednesday.

He said in a statement that the organisation should not be dragged into any controversy over investigation of any individual by the anti-graft body.

The statement reads: “We categorically repudiate this spurious and unauthorised communication.

“Afenifere does not have factions. There is only one Afenifere, and it is under the leadership of Pa Reuben Fasoranti.

“At no time did the authentic leadership of Afenifere authorise any of its officers, serving or retired, to issue such a prejudicial, defamatory or politically-motivated statement.

“The public is hereby advised to disregard the fraudulent individuals hiding under the name of Afenifere to pursue personal or partisan agendas.

“We are fully aware that certain members of the Labour Party in Yorubaland have continued to masquerade as speaking for Afenifere.

“These political opportunists, whose actions are driven by bitterness and selfish ambition, are hereby sternly warned to desist from dragging the revered name of Afenifere into disrepute.

“The alleged statement, which attempts to link the SGF to an EFCC investigation involving a private individual, is not only dishonest but a deliberate act of blackmail.

“As publicly known, the said investigation was initiated on the strength of a complaint by Senator Akume himself, upon observing irregularities.

To now twist such facts into an accusation of complicity is irresponsible, malicious and embarrassing to the Yoruba nation.

“We wish to reiterate that Afenifere stands firmly on the side of due process, justice and rule of law.

“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) should be allowed to conduct its investigations without pressure, coercion or threats of orchestrated protests.

“Afenifere, as a non-partisan and principled socio political-cultural body, will not be used as a vehicle for any political vendetta.

“We shall continue to defend the integrity of our name, the unity of Nigeria, and the dignity of Yoruba leadership.”

Afenifere Innovative group urges youths to embrace peace, party directives

Afenifere Innovate Group, Yaba branch, has called on youths within the community to actively participate in the democratic process and shun every form of violence.

The group, during an interactive session and sensitisation programme with its members of the group, said the party was aimed at reinforcing unity and encouraging compliance with party directives.

The spokesperson of the Yaba branch, Mr. Suleiman Mustapha, expressed concern over the growing disunity among the leadership of Lagos Mainland  and Yaba LCDA, which, according to him, has placed them in precarious position, hindering the effective delivery of democratic dividends.

“We call on our youths to embrace peace and avoid violence, especially acts being instigated by elements within the local leadership,” he said.

“A divided leadership is detrimental to progress, and we must work together to restore unity and purpose.”

He also lauded the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its empowerment programmes targeted at young people and reiterated the group’s support for the party’s decision to adopt indirect primaries.

“This method is a step in the right direction. It will help curb bloodshed and reduce the atmosphere of fear among party members,” he added.

The Afenifere Innovate Group, Yaba Branch, reaffirmed commitment to peaceful engagement, political participation, and sustained support for the APC and its policies.

  • Labelling Tinubu’s administration ‘Yoruba government’ attempt to scuttle second term – Afenifere

Labelling Tinubu’s administration ‘Yoruba government’ attempt to scuttle second term – Afenifere

The National Organising Secretary of the Pan Yoruba Socio Political Organisation Afenifere Abagun Kole Omololu has said labelling President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led administration ‘Yoruba government’ by some was to stir embers of division among Nigerians to deny the President a second term in office.

He said the Tinubu’s government is not running a Yoruba government but an all inclusive administration.

A statement by the Afenifere chieftain said Tinubu did not became President by tribal inheritance but by democratic choice through result of votes by Nigerians of every tongue, creed and religion.

According to him, to label Tinubu’s administration as “Yoruba” is not only dishonest but a vile act of tribal opportunism.

He said: “When President Muhammadu Buhari held office for eight years, no one branded his leadership as a “Fulani government. No tribal coalition was formed to deny him a second term on the grounds of ethnicity.

“He was allowed to serve out his mandate in full and rightly so. The same principle of equity and continuity must apply now. Let no one demand justice only when it suits them, but deny it when it is owed to others.”

He stated thad Tinubu shall be re-elected as by Nigerians under the watch of the Constitution.

“Nigeria is not a personal or tribal empire. Our nation will not bow to tribal blackmail. It will not bend to invented narratives. And it will not break under the weight of conspiracy. Let all patriots rally to the defence of truth, justice, and constitutional order. Let us remember that nations fall not only when tanks roll through streets but also when lies, repeated often enough, begin to sound like truth.

“We have come too far to be dragged backward by petty ambition disguised as activism. Let us reject the agents of sabotage not because they threaten one man, but because they threaten all of us.

“We have taken due note of the recent expose by Dr. Sandra Duru, detailing her conversation with the suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, particularly her shocking admission of a clandestine plot to sabotage the administration of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which the conspirators have stereotyped as a “Yoruba government,” and thereby stir the embers of division to deny him a second term.

“This is no light accusation. It is a revelation that demands reflection from patriots and repudiation from all who still hold Nigeria dear.”

He saluted Duru for her uncommon courage for speaking truth not only to power but to conspiracy.

“Her voice is a reminder that integrity still walks among us, and that silence, in the face of wickedness, is not an option for those who love this country.

“Furthermore, we condemn in the strongest terms the campaign of calumny and false allegations against the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio a man whose only crime, it appears, is that he dares to cooperate and collaborate with the President in the spirit of statesmanship and progress.

“We reject the weaponisation of false allegations as political tools especially when such weapons are aimed at innocent men, families and private lives.

“Politics has its place but it must never trespass the boundaries of human decency. To smear a man’s name, fabricate charges, and unleash innuendo on his children, his home, and his honour that is not politics. That is malice in its rawest form.

“We strongly decry the internationalisation of fabricated domestic issues by those who authored the falsehood in the first place. This is akin to setting fire to your own seat in a cinema and running out crying “Fire! Fire!” not out of alarm, but out of selfish ambition.

“It is selfishness that seeks to burn down the image of the nation to satisfy the ego of one person who believes that except she has her way, the country should not have peace.”

Afenifere rejects labeling Tinubu’s presidency as ‘Yoruba government’

Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has rejected the categorisation of President Bola Tinubu’s administration as a “Yoruba government,” stating that such labeling is misleading and divisive.

In a statement issued by its National Organising Secretary, Abagun Kole Omololu, Afenifere emphasized that President Tinubu’s emergence was a result of democratic choice, not ethnic inheritance.

“This administration is a Nigerian government, not a tribal mandate,” the group declared.

The organisation condemned attempts to use ethnic identity as a tool for political sabotage, describing such actions as “dishonest, tribal opportunism, and sedition,” which it said must be rejected in totality.

Drawing a comparison, Afenifere pointed out that former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration was never branded a “Fulani government,” nor was his re-election campaign hindered by tribal coalitions on the basis of ethnicity.

The group also praised Dr. Sandra Duru for boldly countering what it described as a conspiracy narrative.

“Her voice is a reminder that integrity still walks among us, and that silence in the face of wickedness is not an option for true patriots,” the statement added.

Afenifere condemned what it termed campaign of calumny and false allegations against President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

According to the statement, “We reject the weaponization of false allegations as political tools — especially when such weapons are aimed at innocent men, families and private lives.

  • MURIC blasts Afenifere over mosque demolition, accuses group of bias against Yoruba Muslims

MURIC blasts Afenifere over mosque demolition, accuses group of bias against Yoruba Muslims

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has accused the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, of harboring deep-seated bias against Yoruba Muslims.

MURIC made the disclosure in a statement issued on Friday by its Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, in response to a press release by the Ekiti State Chairman of Afenifere, Mr. Gabriel Alonge.

Alonge had earlier defended the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, over the demolition of the Sabo Central Mosque in Aramoko, Ekiti State, describing MURIC’s criticism of the act as incitement.

He also called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to place MURIC under watch.

However, Professor Akintola, in a sharp rebuttal, accused Afenifere of spreading falsehood and marginalizing Yoruba Muslims.

He insisted that Yoruba Muslims are not second-class citizens, stressing that they are integral members of the Yoruba community who deserve equal protection.

According to him, Afenifere has failed in its duty by siding with those oppressing Yoruba Muslims instead of defending their rights.

Akintola maintained that Senator Bamidele is the sponsor of the constituency project that led to the mosque’s demolition, arguing that it was impossible for the lawmaker not to have known that the structure existed on the land.

    The statement reads:

“Following our statement of Monday, 7th April, 2025 captioned ‘MURIC Condemns Demolition of 2 Mosques in Ekiti’ in which we alleged that the Senate leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, knew about the demolition of Sabo Central Mosque, Aramoko, Ekiti State, the chairman of Afenifere, Ekiti State chapter, Mr. Gabriel Alonge, released a press statement yesterday, 8th April, 2025  in which he defended the Senate leader.

“The Afenifere chieftain claimed that MURIC’s allegation was an incitement. It therefore charged the Department of State Security (DSS) to monitor our activities. First and foremost, we stand by our statement and we take Afenifere’s remarks with a pinch of salt. The Senate Leader owns the constituency project for which the mosque was pulled down. It was therefore not possible for him not to know that his project would affect the mosque which was existing on the land.

“Were there no drawings for the construction? Was the owner of the constituency project not briefed by the architect? What about the project engineer? Did he not brief his client? Was there no personal visit by the Senate Leader or his aides to the site of the project? Was it an empty land? Or do we want to infer, a priori, negligence or incompetence in the execution of the project?

“Afenifere should stop defending the indefensible and allow Opeyemi Bamidele to do the needful, namely, to engage the local Muslim community in dialogue. Is that too much to ask for? Is that incitement? Afenifere is hiding behind one finger. Afenifere has taken sides by defending the demolition of the mosque. Neutrality would have been the best stand of the organization when the issue involves a religious group since Afenifere wants Nigerians to believe that it is not out to push a Christian agenda. Fact-finding, neutrality and objectivity would have promoted dialogue and subsequent mutual understanding.

“Afenifere has exposed itself as a group with vested interest by defending Opeyemi Bamidele. It is an exhibition of anti-Muslim sentiment. Afenifere appears to be happy that mosques are being demolished methodically and systematically in Ekiti State. Of course this demolition of mosques in the state has a long history. It is not a new phenomenon. It started during the first tenure of Ayodele Fayose’s administration in Ekiti, precisely in 2005 and MURIC cried out at the time. He first demolished the Old Prison Staff mosque.

“The mosque at the State Housing Estate, built by the Egbira community was the next. OkeSha mosque in Ado Ekiti was demolished in 2006 ostensibly to pave way for road dualization. In 2012, the Fayemi-led administration demolished Igbein Mosque, allegedly to avoid a clash with an idol worshippers’ shrine in the area.

“The Fayemi administration also demolished a big Hausa mosque at Atikankan to make way for another Otu shrine, relocating the Hausa community to New Shasha at the outskirts of Ado Ekiti. In the recent demolitions under discussion, two other mosques were demolished: one at Sabo, Aramoko because of a constituency project initiated by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele; the other in the same Igbein area of Ado Ekiti about six months ago. How can Islam survive in a Muslim community that loses two big mosques in six months? How can the Muslims worship freely and safely where every new regime joins the Mosque Destroyers’ Club (MDC)? The conspirators know what they are doing. There seems to be a plot among traditional and political leaders in Ekiti State in particular to eliminate Islam through multiple demolition of mosques.

“Afenifere knew about the persecution of Yoruba Muslim children in public and private schools in the region, the denial of the use of Shari’ah for Yoruba Muslims, the political marginalization, economic strangulation and social ostracisation of Muslims in the region by their Yoruba kinsmen. Has Afenifere ever defended the rights of Muslims in the land? Some Yoruba youths threatened to unleash violence on Yoruba Muslim leaders a few weeks ago over the Shari’ah panel imbroglio. It was in viral video clips but nobody heard the voice of Afenifere. An intermediary role in the saga would have proved that Afenifere is for all Yorubas regardless of religious leaning. But Afenifere looked the other way because what those youths threatened to do to Muslim leaders keyed into Afenifere’s scheme.

“Afenifere is a biased organization that operates like a cultural wing of the Christian Organisation of Nigeria (CAN) in the South West masquerading as a socio-cultural organization. Afenifere has asked the DSS to monitor the activities of MURIC. But what we know is that Afenifere cannot give DSS orders. The DSS knows its onions. Afenifere should stop being naïve. There is no notable organization that DSS does not monitor as a matter of routine, including Afenifere. So how can a group that is being monitored issue orders to those monitoring it to monitor a perceived rival group.

“Afenifere claimed that we incited Nigerians in our statement. That is a big lie from the pit of Jahannam. Nobody should take Afenifere serious after this. Our statement ended with a plea for calm among Muslims. This was in the last paragraph where we said, ‘Meanwhile we appeal to Muslims in the state to remain calm and unperturbed. Islam is a religion of peace and we expect every Muslim to be a good ambassador of his or her religion’. It can still be checked. Internet does not tell lies like Afenifere. Nigerians can see very clearly that Afenifere is looking for ways of implicating MURIC or at least, to smear our good image. But they have failed woefully. We remain undaunted. Afenifere also tried to hoodwink Nigerians by saying that the Muslims of Aramoko were happy with the demolition of their mosque because the Chief Imam was present at the commissioning of the market.

“We respectfully disagree. The Chief Imam was ‘officially present’ at the commissioning as demanded by protocol. Muslims in Aramoko complained to MURIC about the demolition of their mosque. They also issued press statements on their own. The first paragraph of one of the statements published in a newspaper on 29th March, 2025 (i.e. even before MURIC reacted at all) reads, ‘The Muslim community in Aramoko Ekiti, Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti State, has raised concerns over what it described as systemic marginalization following the demolition of two of its mosques within a six-month period”.

Afenifere urges Tinubu to restructure security architecture

Pan-Yoruba political organisation, Afenifere, has called on the Federal Government and security agencies to redesign security architecture of the country.

It said the new design should enable heads of security agencies to dig deeper into causes is insecurity and deal with them decisively.

Afenifere called on the National Security Adviser (NSA) , Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to collaborate with Governors with a view to coming up with strategies to confront the challenges and put them under control.

This was contained in a communique after the end of Afenifere monthly meetings at the residence of Pa Reuben Fasoranti.

In the communique, Afenifere urged Governors in Yorubaland to strengthen security network in the region because of the upsurge of terrorism in our area.

It said Amotekun personnel should be increased, motivated, trained and properly equipped as well as deployment of modern technology such as drones to tackle insecurity.

The group said: “Afenifere is unrelenting in its insistence that State Police should take off immediately.

“We called on State Governors to track unscrupulous herders terrorizing our farmers – including owners of the cows with which they are making lives difficult for our people.

“n view of the importance of food in any society, states governments in Yorubaland are called upon to pay more serious attention to agriculture. Policy papers on how Farm Settlements were established and run should be revisited and reviewed in line with the present reality for implementation purpose.

“This time around, local government councils should be given the mandate and leverage to establish farms in their respective areas.

Farm inputs be made available to the farmers at subsidized rates. In the same vein, food items can be made available to the people at subsidized rates.”
