Aisha Buhari pledges support for girl child education

Wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, has pledged her support for girl child education in the country.

She said she would support all efforts aimed at improving the standard of education in Nigeria, especially that of the girl child.

Hajiya Buhari has also urged Nigerian children to embrace education to enhance the quality of their lives and promote national development.

She stated this yesterday in Abuja during her visit to  Army Day Secondary School, Mambila Barracks, Abuja, where she advised the students to take their studies seriously.

Hajiya Buahri, who was in the school to participate in teaching and learning activities, said the President Muhammadu Buhari Administrations was committed to improving the quality of education in country.

She said without adequate education of the younger generation, the future of the country would not be bright, adding that the quality of education children receive determines the future of any nation.

She recalled that she got married after her secondary education and the quest for further knowledge propelled her to acquire a Masters’ degree through the support and assistance of her husband.

Hajiya Buhari advised parents and guardians not to thwart the zeal of their children and wards, particularly the female children in acquiring formal education.

Earlier, welcoming the wife of the President, the FCT Permanent Secretary, Engr. John Obinna Chukwu, commended her for her initiative and for choosing one of the FCT schools for her first visit.

Engr. Chukwu described the visit as motivational and said that it would encourage the students to aspire towards achieving academic excellence.

Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, said yesterday that she personally still prepares her husband’s food, their recent relocation to the Presidential Villa notwithstanding.

Official cooks mainly prepared the food of previous first families at the State House.

Mid way into a Sallah party she held yesterday at the seat of power for children, Mrs.Buhari sought her guests’ permission to leave to go and cook for President Muhammadu Buhari.

She said: “I’m going to leave you soon. I want to go back home to cook for my husband. Because my children are here playing with you, so nobody is at home, only my husband. So I want to go back home to be with him and also cook dinner for him.”

She urged them to continue to pray for other Nigerian children who are currently at Internally Displaced Persons (IDP)’ camps in parts of the North.

She also asked them to be good ambassadors of their parents at all times.

She said: “The future of this great country lies in your hands. You are to complement the efforts of government by working very hard in school and be obedient to your parents.

“Tomorrow, you may be the President, President’s wife, senators, honourable members, governors, medical doctors, teachers, journalists, engineers, nurses, lawyers and the rest of our honourable professions.”

The wife of the President asked parents to encourage and monitor their children.

While loud speakers rendered various songs to the delight of the children, giant screens were also mounted showing cartoons.

The children, who were given packed meals and drinks, also took part in fashion parade and dancing competition.

FG committed to welfare and protection of children – Aisha Buhari

The Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, said on Saturday that the federal government would continue to attach importance to the welfare, protection and development of Nigerian children.

The first lady made the remark at the Children’s Eid El-Fitri Party (Sallah Party) she hosted at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

I cook my husband’s food, says president’s wife

Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday revealed that she still personally cooks her husband’s food.

Speaking during the Sallah party she organized for Nigerian children at the old Banquet hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, she sought the children’s permission to leave the party after staying for about two hours in order to go home to cook for President Muhammadu Buhari.

She said: “I’m going to leave you soon. I want to go back home to cook for my husband. Because my children are here playing with you, so nobody is at home, only my husband. So I want to go back home to be with him and also cook dinner for him.”

She urged the children to continue to pray for other Nigerian children who are presently at Internally Displaced Persons (IDP)’ camps due to the insurgency.

Stressing that the administration of her husband attaches importance to Nigerian children’s welfare, protection and development, she urged them to be good ambassadors to their parents.

10 most expensive wrist watches Nigerians may have

How expensive can wrist watches be?

First Lady, Aishat Buhari allegedly wore a N10million Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-Carat White Gold wrist watch which cost £34,500 (estimated at N10,453,000) during the inauguration of her husband  President Muhammadu Buhari.

Neither the presidency nor Mrs. Buhari have refuted the claims, but there are indications that what Mrs Buhari had on was not the reported costly brand.

Although cased in “18K rhodiumized white gold set with brilliant-cut diamonds, octagonal crown set with a diamond, sapphire crystal, Roman numerals, silvered satin-finished dial, 2 motifs lacquered and set with brilliant-cut diamonds, blued-steel sword-shaped hands”, the first lady’s watch was  not a Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-Carat White Gold wrist watch.

Instead  the one she had on was  a Cartier Baignoire Folle Manual Watch priced at $129 (approximately N26,832 when converted at the rate of $1 to N208). Its strap is mainly a black semi-matt alligator-skin strap and an interchangeable “toile brossée” fabric strapwhich is opposed to the Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-Carat White Gold’s fabric strap.

On Friday, June 5, it was reported that former Minister of External Affairs, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi’s  N11m  Rolex wrist watch was stolen by his houseboy.

The houseboy also allegedly stole other luxury accessories valued at N9 m.

Here is the world’s 10 most expensive wrist watches, some of which are more expensive than a Ferrari, which some Nigerians may have.

    1. The A. Lange & Söhne Grand Complication is from the German luxury watch brand A. Lange & Söhne Priced at approximately $2,497,000, this grand complication features a grand sonnerie and petit sonnerie in addition to a minute repeater, a monopusher chronograph with a split-seconds function and jumping seconds, and a perpetual calendar with a moon-phase display. 7. The Roger Dubuis’ Excalibur Quatuor. Its case is made entirely of silicon, and a material with half the weight of titanium and four times the hardness. The Excalibur Quatour equipped with the RD101 movement, is notable for its four sprung balances, which work in pairs to compensate for the effects of gravity much faster than a tourbillon would, resulting in a more accurate watch. It is priced at approximately $1,125,000.

    8. The Hublot Classic Fusion Haute Joaillerie “$1 Million,” is limited to only eight pieces. Its $1 million price tag comes with the 1,185 baguette diamonds covering every surface of the watch, from the case and bracelet to the open-worked dial. For the case alone, a 15-person team had to perform 1,800 hours of cutting and 200 hours of dimensional checking and quality control.

    9. Patek Philippe REF 5016P costs $762,000. Rounding out the Patek trinity is the Ref 5016P (where the P stands for platinum). This watch is the second most complicated that Patek has produced. The problem with watches of this caliber is the need for adjustments, but Patek has an app for that. If you keep this moon-phase, perpetual calendar, retrograde behemoth running continuously it won’t need adjusting until 2100.  Cool Material thinks it is something that your children’s children’s children will most certainly appreciate.

    10. The AP Royal Oak Grande Complication is priced at $560,000. Audemars Piquet (AP) grande complication has a perpetual calendar accurate until long after you will no longer be alive.  It has a lot of the same complications as the other watches (minute repeater, split seconds chronograph, aforementioned perpetual calendar) but presents them in a way that doesn’t require a thousand page instruction manual just to read.

  • Aisha Buhari… Simply Mr President’s wife

Aisha Buhari… Simply Mr President’s wife

The temperaments of those that have played the role of First Ladies since the return to civil rule in 1999 till date have been markedly different. Deputy Political Editor RAYMOND MORDI looks at the style of the First Ladies from Obasanjo to Buhari.

Since the time of Maryam Babangida, the late wife of the former military President Ibrahim Babangida, Nigeria has always had First Ladies who complemented their husbands. Though the position –– First Lady –– is not officially recognised and their activities are not publicly-funded, all those who occupied that position before now succeeded in carving a niche for themselves, by initiating either a  charity organisation or pet project to uplift vulnerable groups in the society.

    Stella Obasanjo

Stella Obasanjo (November 14, 1945 to October 23, 2005) was the First Lady from 1999 until her death in 2005. Prior to her emergence in 1999, all the governors wives and the wife of number two citizens had no other pet projects  apart from the one instituted by the wife of   the Head of State. The   story   changed   when   Mrs. Obasanjo became the First Lady in 1999.  She told the governors’ wives and the wife of the vice president in clear terms that the problems of the society were so enormous and it would be unfair for her to impose a particular project on all the states as was done under the military era.

She, therefore,  urged them to identify any problem that was peculiar to  each  state  and  set  out  ways  of assisting  the needy  in  those  regards,  thereby decentralising the pet project. She identified with the plight of the handicapped and their mothers through her Child Care Trust (CCT).

A private, non-profit, non-governmental organisation, CCT, was established a few months after her husband assumed office as President  to bring succour to physically challenged children. Mrs. Obasanjo’s guiding philosophy,  many believe, was that children are special gifts from God and they need to be appreciated and loved, no matter their physical or mental circumstances.

The late Stella Obasanjo came into the limelight during the campaign to release her husband, who was then charged with treason and jailed by the late Gen Sani Abacha’s junta. She took the campaign for his release to the United Nations (UN) in New York. She was later at the forefront of Obasanjo’s bid to win the presidential election. She travelled with him all over Nigeria, mobilising support among womens’ organisations and the grassroots.

Born in Warri, Delta State,  the late Mrs. Obasanjo was the eldest of the seven children of the first indigenous chairman of Unilever Nigeria, Dr Christopher Abebe. She read English at the Obafemi Awolowo University from 1967 to 1969. Later, she enrolled at the Pitman Institute in London, where she trained as a secretary.

She married Obasanjo in 1976, shortly before he became the military head of state. Stella was not the First Lady during Obasanjo’s first coming. Obasanjo had other wives. But, by the time Obasanjo returned as the civilian President in 1999, Stella was the one in the public eye, following the role she played when her husband was in detention. During that period, she was very influential.

Her death in October 2005 shocked Nigerians. Mrs. Obasanjo, who passed away 22 days to her 60th birthday, had gone to Spain for a cosmetic surgery operation commonly known as “tummy tuck”, but never returned to Nigeria.

    Turai Yar’Adua

If any First Lady wielded enormous influence in governance in recent times, Hajia Turai Yar’Adua, the wife of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua was. Dame Patience Jonathan, the wife of the outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan, is another.

Turai Yar’Adua served as the First Lady from 2007 until the death of her husband on May 5, 2010. Turai was the power behind Yar’Adua — in the home, when he was governor and when he became president. Mrs. Yar’Adua’s has a quiet mien and from her appearance alone, one would be hard pressed to imagine her capable of the political manipulations and intrigues that were credited to her in the heydays of the Yar’Adua era. The power structure within the Presidency allowed her to call the shots from behind the scene. She wielded considerable power, way above what one would expect of a mere consort to a governor.

In the Villa, Turai was perceived to be fully in-charge of many of the decisions behind the scene. She was her husband’s closest adviser and during the period he was incapacitated and unable to perform his official duties, she is said to be fully in charge. The late Yar’Adua travelled overseas for medical treatment without handing over to Goodluck Jonathan who was Yar’Adua’s deputy. The late President’s close associates maintained that he could perform his official duties on sick bed, from anywhere in the world. She was said to be the head of the cabal that ran the affairs of the country before the National Assembly was compelled to invoke the ‘Doctrine of Necessity’ and made Jonathan the Acting President.

An incident of many years ago perhaps best dramatises the power that Turai has always wielded in the president’s life and work. A story was told of how, prior to the 1991 governorship elections, a group of Umaru Yar’Adua loyalists visited the influential late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua. Their objective was to persuade the retired general to help ensure that his younger brother became the Katsina State Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate. It would have been a simple task for the elder Yar’Adua who was the de facto leader of the party.

But the older Yar’Adua would not support his brother. In fact, he was reported to have given tacit support to his brother’s opponent, Saidu Barda, candidate of the National Republican Convention (NRC). When SDP stalwarts went to the retired general to appeal to him to change his mind he reportedly asked them whom they wanted to put in Katsina Government House, Umaru or Turai, his wife?

Easily recognisable by her shawl and make-up, she got married to  the late president in 1975. She attended Government Secondary School, Kankia, in present day Katsina State, and Katsina College of Arts, Science and Technology. For a while she worked as a teacher before retiring and becoming a full time housewife.

Turai Yar’Adua’s pet project revolves around cancer eradication, but apparently, she was more interested in running the affairs of state. The difference between Hajia Turai and Dame Patience is that Hajia Turai was seen, but not heard. This is unlike Dame Patience, also known as Mama Peace, who behaved like an elected political office holder.

    Patience Jonathan

As First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan obviously wielded enormous influence in and out of political circles. With her project, “Women for Change Initiative”, she was seeking to make Life better for women in the country and totally restore the dignity of womanhood. She lent her voice to the implementation of the 35 per cent affirmative action for women in President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, thus advocating more women in governance.

She had struggled relentlessly to awaken and empower the Nigerian woman through numerous summits, enlightenment and sensitisation campaigns. It is also to her credit that women were recognised as important stakeholders in the recently conducted general elections and were effectively mobilised for the polls.

Dame Patience is believed to be a pillar of sorts for her. She was actively involved in the electoral campaigns, crisscrossing all parts of the country and wooing the electorate to her husband’s side. She has remained very visible as First Lady.

She launched her Women for Change Initiative, shortly after her husband became President in May 2011. The initiative was aimed at promoting women’s participation in the political sphere, amongst other things. It was one of the promises the Jonathan administration can proud other say it accomplished. There were about 13 women in Jonathan’s Federal Executive council representing about 32 per cent of the 42 member Cabinet, with many others  heading sensitive institutions.

But, her meddlesomeness and overbearing influence were equally part of the reasons her husband lost the March 28 presidential elections. She interfered in the affairs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in many states and created problems for her husband and the ruling party. For instance, she was said to be responsible for the problem between Jonathan and the outgoing Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and the crisis within the Bayelsa State chapter of the PDP. She also inflamed passions with the kind of words she used against the All Progressives Congress (APC) standard bearer Muhammadu Buhari during the campaigns. The hate campaign she and Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti championed did not help matters for Jonathan.

Mrs. Jonathan’s secret hospitalisation in Germany, following a severe bout of food poisoning, drew a lot of criticisms for the Jonathan administration. She was also involved in the controversy the over 200 girls abducted from Chibok by Boko Haram. She drew the ire of civil society when one of the leaders of the “Bring Back Our Girls” movement was arrested after meeting the First Lady at the presidential villa. Mrs Jonathan was said to have accused the activists of fabricating the abduction story to give the government a bad name.

Many Nigerians derived comic reliefs from jokes built around her alleged grammatical blunders. People made jokes from everything she said or did. Indeed, Dame Patience is regularly mimicked by comedians for her boisterous public appearances, as well as political and financial scandals.  Despite all these, Mrs. Jonathan is never afraid to say her mind.

She was born in Port-Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on October 25, 1957. In 1989,  she obtained the National Certificate of Education (NCE) in Mathematics and Biology from Rivers State College of Arts and Science, Port Harcourt. She then proceeded to the University of Port Harcourt, where she studied Biology and Psychology.

Mrs. Jonathan started her career as a teacher at the Stella Maris College, Port Harcourt and Sports Institute Isake. She then moved to the banking sector in 1997, where she established the first community bank in Port Harcourt called the Akpo Community Bank. She served as Marketing Manager of Imiete Community Bank. She returned to the classroom briefly again as a teacher. Eventually she was transferred to the Bayelsa State Ministry of Education, where she served until May 29, 1999 when her husband became the deputy governor of the state.

On July 12, 2012, she was appointed as permanent secretary in Bayelsa State by Governor Seriake Dickson, who was helped to his governorship position by her husband. The appointment generated national outrage and ridicule, considering the fact that she had been on leave from the civil service for over 13 years, since her husband became deputy governor in 1999.

    Aisha Buhari

Hajiya Aisha Buhari was largely an unknown name to many Nigerians until the 2015 presidential election campaigns. Unlike previous times where she did not openly support her husband’s aspirations to become president, she traversed the length and breadth of  country this time around to garner support for Buhari’s presidential aspirations under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which eventually paid off. In the process, Mrs. Buhari stepped out of the shadows into national limelight.

She has quickly learnt the art of politicking, as she was the arrowhead of the campaign of the APC women’s wing. From donating relieve materials to internally displaced persons (IDPs), to mobilising the women folk to support her husband and even speaking about her plans as First Lady, Mrs Buhari has indeed stepped into her new role.

Though the wife of incoming President is just assuming the role of the First Lady, she has promised Nigerians a different style, from what was witnessed under her predecessor. Already, she has given indications about what to expect from her. For instance, she said during the electioneering campaigns that she would prefer to be called the wife of the President, rather than the First Lady.

Mrs. Buhari believes that since the position of ‘First Lady’ is not recognised by the constitution, there would be no point in her going about parading herself as the First Lady. She is of the view that not being addressed as the First Lady, however, would not stop her from performing her duties and role as the wife of the president of Nigeria. “The wife of the president has some traditional roles, like receiving guests, visiting orphanages, helping the less-privileged people,” she noted, adding that she would also lead the fight for the right of women and malnourished children and other socio-economic ills such as infant mortality rate, kidnapping and girl-child trafficking.

Mrs. Buhari was born into the family of Nigeria’s first Minister of Defence, Alhaji Muhammadu Ribadu in Adamawa State. She clocked 44 years at the peak of political campaigns in February, having been born February 17, 1971. She got married to Buhari on December 2, 1989.

A graduate of Public Administration from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, she subsequently trained in beauty therapy and she is an alumnus of the Carlton Institute of London and the Academy Esthetique Beauty, Institute of France, Dubai. Mrs. Buhari is currently a graduate student of International Affairs and Strategic Planning. A devout Moslem, she and her husband are blessed with five children.

  • AFLPM Presidency: First Lady denies ‘rigging out’ Aisha Buhari

AFLPM Presidency: First Lady denies ‘rigging out’ Aisha Buhari

The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan on Tuesday denied plotting to prevent wife of the President-elect, Hajiha Aisha Buhari from replacing her as President of the African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM).

She said that the hosting of the 8th AFLPM Summit slated for the 15th of May in Abuja was not intended to prevent Aisha Buhari.

According to her, there was an understanding in the Mission that the summit will hold on the 15th of May, 2015 if President Goodluck Jonathan loses the 2015 Presidential election.

The statement issued by the Office of the First Lady Federal Republic of Nigeria reads: “Our attention has been drawn to various newspapers and social media reports alleging that Nigeria hosting of 8th Summit of the African First Ladies Peace Mission Summit on May 15, 2015 is a grand design by the First Lady, Dame (Dr) Patience Faka Jonathan to either “rig out” or “deny” the in-coming First Lady, Hajia Aisha Buhari the opportunity to assume the Presidency and host the said summit in the absence of the incumbent.

“We would have ignored this barrage of uncharitable fallacies, but for the fact that the mischief makers have not relented in their efforts to deceive the unsuspecting members of the public with lies and half truth, hence this clarification to set the record straight.

“It would be recalled that Nigeria’s Hajia Turai Yar’Adua was elected President of the African First Ladies Peace Mission during the 6th Summit in February 2008 in Congo Brazzaville for a term of two years.

“Her tenure ought to have come to an end in 2010 when she should have organized a Summit to elect a successor and hand over accordingly. The unfortunate incident that led to her sudden exit from office is well known and need not be mentioned here,” She said

The First Lady added: “This inability of the former President to officially hand over created a leadership vacuum in the African First Ladies Peace Mission for some time until Her Excellency, Dame Patience Jonathan was prevailed upon by her colleagues, the African First Ladies to convene the Summit in July 2012 at which she was subsequently  elected President to serve for two years.

“For the avoidance of doubt, according to its internal regulation, the tenure of office of President of African First Ladies Peace Mission is for a period of two years only. This therefore implies that the tenure of office of the incumbent President ought to have ended in 2014, when a fresh election should have held for a new Executive.

“However, at the 3rd Executive Bureau meeting of the AFLPM in Pretoria, South Africa in 2014, Her Excellency, Dame Patience Jonathan drew the attention of members to the then forthcoming election in Nigeria, which preparation would not enable her host the summit to facilitate the election of new Executives and a handover.

“She therefore proposed that the 8th Summit holds after the Nigeria general elections and it was accordingly agreed that the Summit would hold in July in Abuja with the understanding that if her husband did not succeed in his re-election bid, she would convene the summit in May 2015, to enable the election of a new President and ensure a smooth handover since her tenure has ended.

She said that the emergency Summit is to forestall a misunderstanding that Nigeria intentionally plans to remain in office as President, a position it has held for the past 7 years instead of two year tenure.

“Arising from the above, it is therefore clear that this is not a personal matter nor a specifically a Nigeria sole affair but a continental platform governed by its own rules and protocols just as similar International Organizations.

“It would therefore be out of place for anyone to insinuate that it is intended to shut out the in-coming First Lady. This cannot be father from the truth.

“We state therefore without any iota of equivocation that it is mischievous for anyone to scheme to cause disaffection between the out-going and in-coming First Ladies, Dame Patience Jonathan and Hajia Aisha Buhari.

“Let us therefore come together in our tradition of hospitality to heartily welcome our guests, the African First Ladies as they arrive Abuja for the 8th Summit of the Mission.

“Let us always remember that the personal ambition of anybody is not worth destroying the image of the nation. It is about Nigeria not about Dame Patience Jonathan,” She said.

Buhari votes, 50-year-old woman slumps in Funtua

President Elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, and his wife, Aisha Buhari, voted at the Sarki Yara A polling unit in the Kofar Baru Ward in Daura Local Government area in the Governorship and State Assembly election at about 2.55 pm on Saturday.

Buhari adorned in a blue babariga, blue cap and black shoes to match was accompanied by a horde of security details who barricaded the place and preventing people from gaining access to him.

About 459 voters were accredited for the election at the polling unit as against 502 that were accredited for the presidential election two weeks ago.

The Nation observed an increased security presence around the president elect while the anti bomb squad of the Nigeria Police Force conducted a thorough search of the area before Gen. Buhari arrived to cast his vote.

The process of accreditation was also faster than it was during the Presidential election.

However, the weather in Daura and other parts of Katsina remained unfriendly, as the harmattan haze continues to blow, making visibility very poor.

The presence of the media was also far less compared to the situation a fortnight ago.

Meanwhile, the situation was peaceful all over Daura and other parts of Katsina.

Unconfirmed report, however, has it that a 50-year-old woman, Yar’Baba Yusuf Babangida, slumped and died while waiting on the queue to vote in Funtua, Katsina State.

Available reports have it that the deceased who was said to be hypertensive was on the queue at Kofar gidan Hamisu polling unit of Makera Ward in Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State when she suddenly slumped.

She was reportedly rushed to Funtua General Hospital where health personnel certified her dead.

Buhari’s wife to Patience: Don’t be afraid of jail

Hajia Aishat Buhari, wife of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari has replied the wife President Goodluck Jonathan, Mrs. Patience Jonathan who has been campaigning that General Buhari will jail his political opponents if elected President in the March 28 election, saying Patience Jonathan needs not fear as Nigerians only want a change in the way Nigeria is being run presently.

Speaking at a mega rally where she interacted with Women in Edo State Thursday, Hajia Buhari said the PDP’s attempt to paint her husband black with the tar of religion is a desperate attempt to hoodwink the people, saying only those who want to loot the treasury campaign with religion which is at variance with politics.

She said: “each zone of the country has its peculiar problems. For me in this zone, girl-child trafficking should be considered one of our problems, though I know there is unemployment. Unemployment is the major factor that contributes to brain drain and also the girl-child trafficking. General Muhammadu Buhari is a leader who led Nigeria some decades ago and he is coming back now to sanitise the system.

“For those that are campaigning, saying that he is coming to jail Nigerians, I don’t know what their fear is. But they shouldn’t be afraid, because we are all yearning for change. The insecurity in the country, the very poor healthcare system, lack of education and other basic necessities that people are lacking I believe Nigerians need somebody like General Muhammadu Buhari now.

“Already, they have painted him black, using religion. I’m happy today that Nigerians realize that they use religion as a cover to loot Nigeria. Any politician who talks to you about religion is a liar, he only wants to loot the treasury and the little resources you ought to enjoy. So say no to politics merging it with religion to deceive the people.

“I’m here today to let Edo women know that when my husband is elected into office as President, all these will be history. The insecurity, the girl-child trafficking, suffering of the widows in the South East will come to an end. There must be a cultural design that can accommodate the widow. A design that would make the girl-child comfortable wherever she is in this country. She doesn’t have to leave her country to go and prostitute elsewhere, it’s not her portion. Her portion is to have a highly standard and moral society for her to live in. Get married, have children, train them and also mould them to become the future leaders.

“We are here today to also let you know that the collection of your PVCs is important and don’t ever sell it. It’s like selling your future. If you sell it for N5, 000, you won’t see N5, 000 again until after four years which will be bad. Get your PVC, vote for APC, vote for freedom, vote for a new Nigeria with good security, good education, good healthcare, good roads and all the basic necessities.”

In his address to the women, Governor Adams Oshiomhole urged them to vote for the APC since the PDP has failed in 16 years to deliver on electricity and other basic infrastructure.

According to him, the PDP government fleeces even the poor through kerosene sale.

“In sixteen years, PDP did not provide light, we provide the transformers to the communities but the PDP Federal Government cannot power the lights. They collect fixed charges from the people when there is no fixed light.

“They say there’s a power reform, however instead of reform, they deform. They advertised to employ people into the Nigeria Immigration Service and use private company to charged the applicant N1, 000 each. The private company collected over N800 million from poor youths and took them to the stadium to conduct an interview, at the end people died. Instead of the Minister in charge to be reprimanded, he was given national honours.

“You need to understand the issues. Our call for Change and for people to vote for the APC and vote out the PDP is because the PDP has completely failed and deceived the people for 16 years. So they must go home.”

The people must vote for APC to return Nigeria from darkness to light, from unemployment to employment and from insecurity to security.”

He flayed some religious leaders who want to polarize the country along religious lines, saying the problems facing the country affect both Christians and Moslems so Nigerians should ignore the attempt to hoodwink them and preach hatred using the religion card.

In an address of welcome, wife of the state Deputy Governor, Deaconess Endurance Odubu said Nigerians have made up their minds to vote massively for the All Progressives Congress.

She noted the achievements of Governor Adams Oshiomhole in Edo State and said when voted into power, General Muhammadu Buhari will replicate it at the national level.

She assured Hajia Aishat Buhari that Edo women will vote massively for the APC.
