  • Aisha Buhari donates relief materials to survivors of Kaduna killings

    Wife of the President, Hajia Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has donated relief materials worth millions of naira to survivors of the recent killings in Kajuru Local Government area of Kaduna State.

    This was as she described the violent crisis that claimed lives of many citizens of Adara and Fulani communities as unfortunate, praying that such does not occur again.

    Presenting the relief materials to the survivors at Maraban Kajuru and Railway Crossing, all in Kajuru Local Government Area, Mrs. Buhari assured that, the perpetrators of the crime will be fished out and be made to face the full wrath of the law.

    Represented by one of her close associates, Hajia Binta Muazu, the First Lady told both the Fulani and Adara communities affected in the crisis that, God in His wisdom has reasons for bringing them together, therefore, they must live together in peace and harmony.

    According to her, “Her Excellency, wife of the President, Dr. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari feels your pain. She is touched by the unfortunate incident that happened here in Kajuru. She has asked me to express her condolences to you and bring to you some relief materials.

    ”We understand what you are going through, you have lost loved ones, property and you have been displaced. We know that, what we have brought is nothing compared to what you have lost, but because Her Excellency feels your pain, she has asked us to bring these relief materials, which include food items and clothing materials.

    “She also asked me to tell you that, God in His wisdom has reasons for bringing us together in different tribes and religions, therefore, we must learn to live together in peace and harmony.

    “She also asked me to assure you that, the perpetrators of this heinous crime will be fished out by the authorities and will be made to face the most severe punishment according to the law of the land”.

    Also speaking at the event, wife of the  Kaduna State Governor, Hajia Aisha (Ummi) Garba El-Rufai expressed appreciation to the President’s wife, and admonished the people of Kajuru Local Government to live in peace.

    Receiving the items on behalf of the people of Kajuru, Chairman of Local Government Council, Hon. Kafra Caino Boaz expressed dismay that, the image of Kajuru was being soiled by incessant crises.

    He however told the people of the area that, the crises have a denied the local government area meaningful developments and progress.

    One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Halima Augustine thanked the President’s wife for the gesture and appealed to the government to help them aprehend killers of their kinsmen.

    Items donated included trucks load of 25 kilograms bags of rice and other food items, as well as clothing materials.

  • Solid mineral miners to mobilize 5 million votes for Buhari

    Solid mineral miners, processors, traders, quarry operators, workers and sand dredgers in the country on Tuesday promised to mobilize five million votes for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in the forthcoming election.

    Speaking while on a visit to the campaign office of the APC Women and Youth Campaign organization, led by the wife of the President Aisha Buhari, the group said they have mobilized resources from among themselves to carryout support programmes for the re-election of the president.

    Converter of the group, Alhaji Saleh Abu Katsina also formally announced the endorsement of President Buhari by the group saying a road map for the growth and development of the Nigeria mining industry was develop by the Buhari government to deepen reforms, attract local and foreign investors and collaborate with network of stakeholders to build an enabling mining environment.

    He said President Buhari also establishment an artisanal and small scale financing support fund for the mining industry in which N5 Billion has been made available with bank of industry at five percent interest rate.

    He said the government also “Set up equipment leasing and hire purchase under which mining and processing equipment is accessible to artisanal and small scale miners.

    “Introduce National Gold Purchase scheme to promote the production, aggregation and refining of Nigeria Gold Purchase through the CBN under the Federal Government Gold Reserve Treasury Scheme.

    “Funding has improved tremendously in the last three years and this includes the release of (i) 30 Billion Naira intervention fund for exploration project (ii) A 150 Million dollar World Bank loan was secured for funding of the man diver programme.”

    Responding on behalf of the wife of the president, General Buba Marwa, promised to deliver the group’s positions to the appropriate quarter.

  • My husband has passion for the masses – Aisha Buhari

    Wife of the President Aisha Muhammadu Buhari said on Tuesday that though the President may look tough and hard on the outside, he is a compassionate and loving person with the interest of the ordinary masses at heart.

    Speaking through the former Lagos state governor, Brig. General Mohammed Buba Marwa, Hajia Aisha who heads the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team also said the President was concerned about the increasing rate of drug abuse in the country which has been identified as one the causes of accident in the country.

    She told members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers National (NURTW) that President Buhari has led by example and has not tinted himself with corrupt tendencies, pointing out that it was the same act of leadership by example that the President wants to replicate when elected for a for a second term in office, and sought collaboration of the union in the fight against drug abuse

    She said “President Buhari is leading by example. There are two kinds of leaders. One will lead by example and tell you, do as I do and you have the other one saying do as I say and not as I do. You will agree with me that when you have a leader who leads by example you do the right thing and don’t steal so that the money is stretched further to cover more projects. This is the secret behind the success of the President.

    “Without all the interest usually built into projects as a result of corruption, more projects will be executed with little and the money can go further. In the area of security, the Road Transport Workers will be in a better position to know and say the parks are safer. It is a clear indication that things are working because the President is up and doing.

    “Electricity is better now than before and by the time you add Mambilla to it, everything will be nomalised. But of greater interest to you are the roads. Work is ongoing in the entire trunk A roads across the country and there are about 25 special roads that are being dualised. You know the roads better because you ply the roads.

    “One of the first things he did was not to start building infrastructure, but to ensure that workers who are owed salaries are paid. He gave states money to pay salaries and also paid over 20 billion to Nigeria Airways pensioners. He also paid Biafra Police who served during the civil war. He has clearly demonstrated that he is a man of the people and he wants to improve the lives of Nigerians and make everyone safe.”

    While noting types of leadership, Aisha said President Buhari in the last three and half years had led the country by example and had proved to be an incorruptible leader over the period.

    National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, (NURTW), Comrade Najeem Yasin said the union will never forget what President Buhari did for them as Military Head of state when he abolished those he called Yan Kamiso from the motor parks across the country.

    He said that with that singular act, Buhari gave them the advantage they enjoy today with drivers operating freely without being harassed at the parks.

    He informed the delegation that by virtue of the MoU signed between the union and the Independent National Electoral Commission to transport electoral materials across the country, they are required to maintain as much neutrality as possible, adding that already, their members nationwide are already engaged in electoral assignment with the commission.

    He said however that they are not unaware of the various road projects currently going in in different parts of the country and commended President Buhari for the good work he is doing.

    He asked members of the union to go all out this Saturday to use their PVC to elect the right candidate who they believe will move the nation forward.

  • My husband not sectional leader, Aisha Buhari tells critics

    The wife of the president, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, wants Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic, religious and other sentiments, to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari in this week’s election.

    Mrs. Buhari, in a message to a rally organised by the Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team, tagged ‘Walk for Buhari’, dismissed suggestions that paint the president as a tribalist.

    Represented by the wife of the vice president, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, Mrs Buhari said: “our president is for everybody, whether men, women or youth.

    “Our president is for the whole of Nigeria. There is no discrimination.

    “Only yesterday (Friday), a train left Lagos and arrived in Abeokuta. We had not seen that in a long while.

    “Buhari has shown that he is worthy of our trust and, APC going to the next level means that Nigerians are also going to the next level.”

    Mrs. Buhari also challenged supporters to be vigilant on Election Day, saying: “after you have voted, you must not go back and sleep. You must wait for your votes to be counted and then you write it down.”

    Also speaking, a former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Suleiman Abba, accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of engaging in unnecessary propaganda.

    Abba said election rigging was alien to the APC and accused the PDP of corrupting the electoral space.

    “APC does not know how to rig election at all. Who are the masters of ballot box snatching? PDP!

    “Who declared results in 2007 before the official results came out? PDP! While they are embarking on propaganda, we are focused on our door to door campaign,” the former IGP stated.

    Dignitaries at the rally included Youths and Sports Minister Solomon Dalung, former Military Administrator of Lagos State, Buba Marwa, and a representative of the FCT Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello.

    Others were the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Dr. Hajo Sani, and the wives of Ogun, Nasarawa, Borno and Ondo states’ governors, Olufunsho Amosun, Mairo Al-Makura, Nana Shettima and Betty Akeredolu, respectively.

     

  • Vote, don’t fight, Aisha Buhari tells Nigerians

    Wife of the President, Hajia Aisha Buhari on Saturday asked Nigerians especially women and youths to resist any form of violence during the 2019 general elections, telling them to vote and not fight.

    Addressing the women and youths after a Walk for Buhari campaign on Saturday in Abuja, Hajia Buhari who was represented by the Wife of the Vice President, Dolapo Osinbajo said Nigerians should vote peacefully, wait until their votes are counted before going home.

    She said “we don’t want any fight. Vote peacefully, don’t fight. Go from house to house and make sure nobody is sleeping at home on that day because if APC and Nigeria goes to the next level, you will go to the next level.’

    She told the party supporters who turned out for the walk that Buhari was for all Nigerians and has proven to be President for the whole country with his record of achievements.

  • Nigeria safe with my husband, says Aisha Buhari

    Wife of the President Aisha Buhari has urged Kogi women and youths to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 16 poll because Nigeria will remain secured in his hands.

    She spoke during a town hall meeting organised by women and youths moblisation arm of President Buhari campaign organisation coordinated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader Hajia Salamatu Baiwa Umar-Eluma in Lokoja the state capital at the weekend.

    She spoke through the wife of the Vice President Mrs. Dolapo Osibanjo, who represented her at the event.

    She said: “Nigeria is secured in the hands of my husband because he will not steal Nigeria’s money and he is a very prudent man”.

    She who described the people of Kogi State as kind and hardworking, assuring their future was guaranteed because president Buhari was already laying a solid foundation for that through the anti-corruption war.

    Umar-Eluma challenged Kogi women and youths to begin door-to-door campaign to ensure a land slide victory for the party in the state in the forthcoming general elections.

    The APC woman leader told them to work to deliver the party hundred percent from top to bottom in the coming elections.

    She said Buhari had done so much to merit re-election come February 16.

    According to her: “We all must give him our total support by going back to our homes, communities and villages to campaign for APC”.

    She emphasised Buhari deserved a second term to enable him consolidate on the good work of rebuilding Nigeria for a better future for all Nigerians.

    She noted he was very concerned about the plight of the ordinary Nigerian especially women, youths and children, which was why he instituted social investment programmes that are directly impacting on them.

    The APC National Women Leader listed such programnes like school feeding, which has fed over nine million Primary school Pupils in 26 states; Marketmoni, which has so far benefited over 500,000 small businessmen and women; Tradermoni which has benefited over 2million individuals and N-Power program, which so far has provided over 500,000 young graduates with gainful employment and skills acquisition opportunities.

    She noted these programmes were deliberately designed by the Buhari administration to uplift the downtrodden.

    The well-attended meeting was also graced by the First Ladies of Kogi, Niger, Nasarawa and Plateau and several other APC female stalwarts, including the former Deputy Governor of Plateau State and a former Minister Mrs Pauline Talen.

  • I didn’t condemn CJN’s suspension, says  Aisha Buhari

    WIFE of the President Mrs. Aisha Buhari yesterday denied issuing any statement condemning the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen.

    According to a statement by her Director of Information Suleiman Haruna, the alleged statement credited to Mrs. Buhari where she was said to have condemned the suspension of Justice Onnoghen was fake and untrue.

    The statement reads: “The attention of the wife of the President has been drawn to a post on social media to the effect that she condemned the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

    “It is important to inform Nigerians that wife of the President has not made any public statements on the matter and therefore the commentary is untrue and fake.

    “This is highly condemnable and we therefore advise the purveyors of such news to recant and desist henceforth.”

    There has been a report on social media with the title: “Breaking bombshell”, alleging that the President’s wife has condemned the husband’s action for suspending the CJN.

    The report which had been feasted on by the social media quoted Mrs. Buhari as saying: “I totally condemn the illegal suspension of Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Walter Onnoghen. That desperate move is not just SHAMEFUL but UNWISE.

    “We have a constitution that is supreme and it must be unsentimentally respected. I implore Nigerians, especially our teeming youths to rise up and defend Nigeria before some very selfish individuals destroy us all.”

  • Aisha Buhari, Dolapo Osinbajo, governors’ wives for Ibadan APC rally 

    Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, will today play host to the wife of president, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, Vice President’s wife, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, and wives of All Progressives Party (APC) governors across the country for the South West Women and Youth Presidential campaign rally.

    Other women and youths, as well as their leaders across South West, will also join them at the rally scheduled for  the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan at 10am.

    The wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Mrs. Bisi Fayemi, who is the South West Zonal Chairperson of the Media Committee of the APC Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team,  said yesterday that  the wife of the Oyo State Governor, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, is coordinating the event in her capacity as the South West Coordinator for Women and Youth Presidential Campaign.

    Others to coordinate their women are Mrs. Bolanle Ambode of Lagos State, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun of Ogun State, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu of Ondo State and Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola of Osun State.

    She said that the Governor of Oyo State,  Abiola Ajimobi, will be the chief host of the  event which is  designed by  Mrs. Aisha Buhari and other top women and youth leaders of the ruling party to mobilize women and youths for active participation in the forthcoming elections.

    Mrs. Fayemi urged the electorate to vote wisely in the forthcoming elections so that the nation can consolidate on the laudable achievements of the APC government in the areas of massive infrastructural renewal, improved security, diversification of the national economy and the significant arrest of corruption and national drift.

  • Aisha Buhari, Rochas disagree over support for gov’s son-in-law

    The First Lady,Mrs Aisha Buhari  yesterday in Owerri canvassed votes for President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Imo State ,Senator Hope Uzodinma to the chagrin of Governor Rochas Okorocha.

    Represented by the wife of the vice president,Mrs.Oludolapo Osinbajo,the first lady was confident that the SouthEast and Imo State in particular would vote all APC candidates in the coming elections.

    “A vote for Buhari is a vote for progress. APC has done well and we must all support all APC candidates,” she said at a rally in Owerri  organized by APC women  and youths in the South East.

    She added:”I am happy with the crowd we saw today.Iit shows that Imo is APC and I want to urge all our youths not to fight, avoid any form of crisis because President Buhari is a peaceful man. From what we have seen today President Buhari has won the South East the same way all our APC candidates have won.”

    At the rally was Uzodinma whose candidature is strongly opposed by Okorocha.

    The governor is rooting for his son in law,Uche Nwosu,who is contesting the March governorship election on the platform of   the Action Alliance (AA).

    Nwosu was originally in the APC until the party gave its governorship to Uzodinma.

    An angry Okorocha said at yesterday’s  rally that nothing would stop Nwosu from succeeding him as governor.

    He said: “Let me say this madam First Lady, this time around we are not here to ask you to campaign for Buhari.What my wife has done is to tell you that Buhari is on ground.

    “Imo victory for Buhari is designed, sealed. In Imo state, we have 47 political parties and one of the perfect alliances is Action Alliance led by Uche Nwosu.

    “Nwosu is APC in spirit. APC, owes Imo people an apology because of the injustice meted to Imo people. In Imo state, Nwosu will win Imo state. It is not anti- party. We refused imposition in Imo state.”

    At some point during the rally supporters of Uzodinma and those of Okorocha/Nwosu began to tear each other’s  campaign posters,and eventually clashed.

    Security personnel had a tough  time bringing the situation under control.

     

    No fewer than 15 persons sustained injuries and were rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

    Speaking to reporters on the situation, Uzodinma  asked the APC leadership to “ look into the matter and take appropriate action.”

     

  • Aisha Buhari seeks, women, youths’ support for husband’s re-election

    Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, has tasked women and youths of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to ensure victory for the party in the forthcoming Presidential election.

    She made the call on Saturday during the launch of the APC Zonal Campaign Rally for the North-West held in Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano.

    The wife of the President explained that she was encouraged to drum support for the APC because of the various social intervention programmes initiated by the Buhari-led administration.

    Mrs Buhari, who spoke in Hausa, said: “In 2015, the APC made some promises; and I have come out to campaign for its victory in the 2019 polls because the party has fulfilled some of the promises it made to Nigerians.

    “Those promises include; the school feeding programme for primary school pupils, the N-Power programme, under which some unemployed graduates are being gainfully engaged and are earning N30,000 monthly.

    “The conditional cash transfer scheme, which is being executed through the office of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo” she said.

    Mrs Buhari expressed her commitment to ensuring greater participation of women and youths in the APC administration.

    On his part, the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, assured the APC of his determination to deliver his state to the party in the forthcoming presidential election.

    Akpabio said that the social intervention programmes of the APC administration had gone a long way in empowering unemployed youths, especially the N-power programme.

    He also assured the wife of the President of Akwa Ibom APC’s commitment to mobilise women from the South South to ensure victory for President Buhari in the 2019 election.

    On his part, Hon. Abdulmumini Jubril, member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State, called on Nigerian youths to support the re-election bid of President Buhari.

    Jibril said; “these election is about the future of Nigerian youths, so we are calling on Nigerian youths to compare what we have in the past and what is obtainable now.

    “Especially the repairs that the President is carrying out on our damaged infrastructure and our battered economy,” he said.

    Also speaking, a former Inspector General of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba, said the APC government had done a lot to improve the economic situation of Nigeria.

    Abba said, the success recorded in the agricultural sector was made possible due to the focus and determination of President Muhammadu Buhari.

    He urged Nigerian women to support the re-election of President Buhari to enable him consolidate on the achievements so far recorded in road construction and railway projects.

    The event was attended by Gov. Umar Ganduje of Kano, Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Dambazau, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Administration, Dr Hajo Sani, Rtd Gen. Buba Marwa, some APC senators among others (NAN).
