I am committed to doing things appropriately, says Aiyedatiwa

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has said that his administration was committed to doing things appropriately.

Governor Aiyedatiwa said he would do all things to ensure he achieved his electoral promises.

Aiyedatiwa spoke when he distributed the Ondo state share of professional kits to health professionals and institutions in the state.

The professional kits were donated by the wife of President Bola Tinubu, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his special adviser on health, Prof. Michael Simidele Odimayo, said the 1,166 share of the state would get to 75 percent of the health workers in the state, including students studying medicine and nursing.

He has strengthened the Ondo State Drug and Health Commodity Management Agency to be able to buy drugs and distribute them to all health facilities across the state.

According to him, “By giving them these kits and scrubs, they can be better motivated to care for the people. The wife of President Bola Ahmed, Senator Remi Tinubu, brought 10,000 to the southwest zone. And we are distributing the ones that are allocated to Ondo State to all our health facilities across the state.

“We have many of them. We have both private health facilities, public health facilities, and training institutions. We also gave the kits to service institutions. The teaching hospital in Ondo, the Specialist Hospital in Akure, the Specialist Hospital in Ondo, the Primary Health Care, and the hospitals in the care of the Hospital Management Board across the state. Even in our school of nursing and midwifery, we are distributing it to all of them so that we can be sure that they will wear this material.

“The Governor is strengthening the health sector. Over 102 healthcare facilities across all the local governments in the state are currently undergoing revitalisation. You know, provision of accommodation facilities for the health workers, provision of the lighting system, solar system, so that 24-hour light will be there. We are fencing the facilities to protect our facilities, provide water, and all those things so that we can have the health facilities functional.

“The Governor is employing health workers; they are being employed. The process is ongoing, employment and replacement of staff. And the Governor has been motivating our staff, enhancing their salary, making sure their salaries are promptly paid so that we can be able to have a system that is running. So the Governor’s commitment to the health care services in the state is top-notch, fantastic.”

Mrs. Tinubu visited Ondo State last week to donate 10,000 professional kits to nurses and midwives in the southwest region.

Insecurity: Be alive to your duties, PDP tells Aiyedatiwa

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has urged Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa to be alive to his duties of safeguarding the lives and property of residents of the state.

The party’s Director of Media and Publicity in the state, Mr Leye Igbabo, stated this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Akure.

Igbabo said that the party was alarmed by the alleged ceaseless killings of hapless residents of the state by gunmen.

He said that victims of such killings were lawfully engaging in their daily activities needed to bring food to their tables.

“The party cannot, in all honesty, find reasons why such assailants could operate without any form of resistance for months running, in a state where there is said to be a valid government in place.

“Gov. Aiyedatiwa has indeed failed in his constitutional duty as enshrined in Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), in that he can no longer secure and protect lives and property of citizens of Ondo State.

“It is heart-wrenching to note that in less than one month, about 50 persons have been gruesomely massacred in various settlements within the state,” he said.

Igbabo expressed concerned that no arrest or prosecution had been made in the wake of these incidents.

He said that the party had been wondering if a government still exists in the state in the face of what he described as unprovoked and unrestrained killings.

“These killings are one too many and indicative of helplessness, hopelessness and huge compromise of those in the corridor of power in Ondo State,” he stated.

Igbabo urged President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the situation, as it appeared that the state government was incapacitated in tackling the menace.

Aiyedatiwa’s Easter retreat new era for student-government collaboration – NANS

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) said invitation of students leaders across Ondo State by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to an Easter Retreat from April 17- 20 will deepen student-government collaboration.

The student body lauded the Governor for initiating an exceptional and purpose-driven Easter retreat, dinner and interactive session.

NANS described the invitation, extended to leadership of Student Union Governments across all higher institutions in Ondo State, as a strategic, far-sighted gesture that speaks volumes of the Governor’s progressive disposition, his commitment to participatory governance, and his recognition of the strategic role student leaders play in state development.

A statement by the Chairman, NANS JCC Ondo Axis, Com. Tobiloba Joshua said Aiyedatiwa has chosen dialogue, inclusion and institutional collaboration in an era where students voices are often relegated to the background.

According to the statement, the Governor has once again demonstrated that leadership is not about isolation, but integration by creating space for students leaders to interact directly with the highest office in the state.

According to him: “This retreat transcends the perfunctory. It is a forward-thinking convergence designed to promote intellectual exchange, deepen policy understanding, and foster a culture of mutual respect between student leaders and the government.

“The opportunity to reflect on leadership, responsibility, and the essence of service within the context of the Easter season adds both spiritual depth and moral clarity to the gathering.

“We equally commend the Senior Special Assistant on Student Affairs, Hon. Kevin Solomon Olaolu, for his relentless commitment to bridging the gap between government and the student community.

“As student leaders, we receive this invitation not only with appreciation but with a sense of duty—to contribute meaningfully to the conversations, to engage constructively, and to reaffirm our commitment to a united and progressive Ondo State.

“We are indeed privileged to have a Governor who sees student leaders not as mere agitators but as partners in progress; not as distant spectators, but as stakeholders in the project of state-building.

“May this engagement mark the beginning of a more robust, strategic, and enduring synergy between the government and the student populace. We applaud this visionary initiative, we honour this noble intent and we align with this transformational agenda.”

Declare security emergency in Ondo, Aiyedatiwa urged

A concerned citizen, Oladayo Osho has urged Ondo Government to declare security emergency in the Dtate, following series of recent happenings in the state.

Osho described the spate of insecurity in the state in recent time as alarming.

A statement by Osho lamented that Ondo State, his home and pride is gradually slipping into an abyss of lawlessness, fear, and anarchy.

According to him, the peace once enjoyed by people of Ondo has been replaced by a reign of terror in the past few months, lamenting how communities are being ransacked, Innocent citizens being abducted, maimed, and killed.

He said: “Roads have become hunting grounds for bandits. Families are being torn apart. Businesses are shutting down. The people are crying out, but those in authority are not listening.

“This is not a political vendetta. This is not propaganda. This is the raw truth staring every citizen in the face. Ondo State is bleeding and the government is watching. Our people are dying, and those entrusted to protect them are nowhere to be found. Fear has replaced faith. Despair has overtaken hope. The people feel abandoned, unprotected and betrayed.

“To the federal government, I say this. Ondo State is not a forgotten territory. It is not a periphery. It is a vital part of this country and deserves the same urgency and attention given to other troubled regions. The killings and kidnappings in Ondo are not isolated incidents. They are symptoms of a larger failure of national security coordination.

“I also call on traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society, and the media to speak out. Silence is no longer an option. We must collectively demand accountability. We must amplify the cries of the people. We must refuse to be intimidated or silenced while our land burns.

“To my fellow citizens of Ondo, do not lose hope. You are not alone. Your voices matter. Your lives matter. Continue to speak up. Continue to organize. Continue to demand better. We owe it to ourselves, to our children, and to the legacy of those who built this land with sweat and sacrifice.

“I urge the state government to declare a security emergency. Mobilise all available resources. Engage community leaders. Empower local vigilantes with proper training and coordination.

He urged the Governor to work hand in hand with federal security agencies, open channels for intelligence gathering, create rapid response units and be visible in every affected region.
