    Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has pledged commitment to strengthen and empower the State Security Network code-named Amotekun Corps.

    He said his administration was committed to securing lives and property.

    Chieftain mobilises Ebira women for Aiyedatiwa

    All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Mrs Bayo Aina, has urged Ebira women in Ondo State to vote for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa during the November poll.

    She described the governor as a lover of Ebira people, who would continue to give them a sense of belonging.

    Aina, a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Mobilisation, said the proposed election was critical to the future of Ondo State.

    She addressed the meeting of Ebira community, where she explained government’s activities and unfolded the party’s manifestos.

    Aina urged the women to gird their loins in defence of democracy by voting wisely.

    She said it was the wish of the party that the governor should receive maximum votes that would discourage his opponents from going to court.

    She said: “We, women, own the votes. We should mobilise our husbands and children of voting age and vote for Governor Aiyedatiwa in November.

    “The governor is conscious of your hard work. He has beautiful plans for you. On poll day, put white powder on your thumbs so that the machine can capture you. Come and vote for progress.”

    Aiyedatiwa pledges commitment to empowering Amotekun

    Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged to strengthen and empower the State Security Network, known as Amotekun Corps.

    He emphasised his administration’s commitment to securing the lives and properties of the state’s residents and highlighted ongoing efforts to rid the state of miscreants and criminals.

    Governor Aiyedatiwa assured that Amotekun Corps, along with other security agencies in the state, would receive the necessary support to effectively combat crime.

    He made these remarks during the official presentation of the Instrument of Appointment and Staff of Office to HRM Oba Adeniji Adeleye, the Oloje of Igasi Akoko, in Akoko northwest local government area.

    Represented by the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, Governor Aiyedatiwa called on traditional rulers in the state to assist his administration secure lives and properties.

    Aiyedatiwa said his administration has recorded huge success, especially in enhancing food security.

    He said he was determined to ensure communities fill their vacant stools.

    The new Oloje of Igasi, HRM Oba Adeniji Adeleye promised to use his wealth of experience and connection to move the community to the next level.

    Aiyedatiwa releases N4.2bn for payment of pensions, gratuities

    Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has released the sum of N3.2bn for the payment of the third batch of pensioners in the state.

    The money, according to him, comprised N2bn to pay local government retirees of 2012 and 2013 and N2.2billion in gratuities to state civil service retirees.

    Governor Aiyedatiwa, in his speech at the flag-off ceremony of the payment, said he took the step to address payment of the backlog of gratuity arrears inherited by his administration to advance the welfare of the people.

    Aiyedatiwa insisted that no segment of the society would be left out in his welfare package especially veterans who had served the state in their prime.

    He said his administration’s ultimate focus was to ensure regular payment of workers’ salaries, retirees’ pensions and gratuity

     “Our well-conceived approach to gratuity payment is to tackle the frightening arrears which have more or less, made our respectable retirees to lose hope”

    “By this sure and steady mode of bulk payment, all retirees should be rest assured that sooner than later, the backlog of gratuities would be fully paid.”

    Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, expressed optimism that the backlog of gratuity arrears would be paid within the next 12 months.

    “ The governor took the bold step of bulk payment of gratuities of retirees because of the passion toward ma alleviating their pain.

    “They felt that the retirees could not live the life they desire after serving the state meritoriously. Based on this, Mr Governor told us that we should do everything possible to make sure that we prioritize the payment of their entitlements.

    “ If you can recollect, just like a month ago, we paid a sum of N1 billion for gratuity of those that retired in 2012 at the local government and that of primary school teachers.

    Aiyedatiwa’s camp woos Mimiko, hails ex-gov’s aides for defecting to APC

    The campaign organization of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has hailed the defection of 30 loyalists of former Ondo State Governor, Dr. Segun Mimiko, from the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying that Mimiko, who is currently a chieftain of the PDP would be received with open arms into the APC.

    In a statement issued on Friday by the Director of Contacts and Engagement for Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC), Dr. Marindoti Oludare, the campaign group said the 30 defectors from the PDP were wise enough to dump their party for the APC having “seen the light that guides our vision for a prosperous future”.

    Oludare stated: “Today, we stand on the threshold of a significant moment in the political landscape of our beloved Ondo State as we welcome our brothers and sisters who have recently made the brave decision to leave the opposition PDP and join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

    “These individuals, who were once close associates of the former governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, have seen the light that guides our vision for a prosperous future. Like the stars that led the three wise men to the manger, their journey has brought them to the APC, where the true light resides.”

    He said the Aiyedatiwa team appreciated the defectors’ patriotism and their recognition of the necessity of the painful but essential reforms that Nigeria is currently undergoing.

    Ondo Governor Aiyedatiwa to get Good Governance Award

    Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been pencilled down to get good governance award by  Sunshine Standard Magazine.

    Publisher, Oludaisi Adetarami, said in a statement the award was in recognition of the governor’s performance in delivering good governance.

    Adetarami said Aiyedatiwa was a beacon of progress and innovation.

    He noted Aiyedatiwa’s administration had been marked by an impressive array of achievements and initiatives.

    A lecture: “Driving Economic Growth and Sustainability in Ondo State: Roles of Indigenes – Home and Abroad,” would be delivered by Williams Aderounmu, chair of Federal University Kashare, Gombe State, governing board.

    The statement said Aiyedatiwa would engage in interact with indigenes residing in Lagos and in diaspora.

    Aiyedatiwa partners BEDC on metering one million households

    The Ondo State government has partnered with the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) Plc to supply meters to one million households across the state.

    The initiative, known as the O’Datiwa Meters Initiative, was finalized during a meeting between the Ondo State Electricity Regulatory Transition Committee, led by chairman Olatunji Ariyomo, and senior management from BEDC, headed by Managing Director/CEO Deolu Ijose.

    Ariyomo announced that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is expected to kick off the meter distribution by the end of this month.

    The governor’s meter intervention aims to eliminate the practice of estimated billing in the state. Ariyomo also mentioned that a joint committee will be established to ensure a smooth collaboration for the benefit of the public.

    He said: “Ondo state government approved the Oda’tiwa Meter Scheme in the month of July 2024. The intervention covers the three senatorial districts.

    “The involvement of BEDC in the scheme means that the goal of the state government to eliminate the problem of estimated billings has now received the support of the Disco.

    The BEDC boss assured that the firm would support the initiative to end estimated billing as well as jointly work together to improve electricity supplies across the state.

    Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy, Johnson Alabi, explained that the BEDC was expected to integrate subscribers who have enrolled via the official portal provided by the state government as part of a seamless integration process.

    Chieftains and leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akoko Southwest Local Government of Ondo State have mended fences ahead of the November 16 governorship election.

    They said Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his running mate, Dr Olayide Adelami, would record massive victory in the area.

    They pledged to work in unison ahead of the poll, urging members to begin grassroots mobilisation for the election of Governor Aiyedatiwa. The Akoko Southwest APC leaders enjoined members in the local government to embrace the spirit of teamwork, to mobilise voters to polling units.

    They spoke at an enlarged APC stakeholders meeting held in Oka Akoko, headquarters of the council.

    Chairman of Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Victor Olabintan, urged APC members to embrace teamwork. He said aspirants that contested against Aiyedatiwa had collapsed their structure to support the governor.

    Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Transportation, Akogun Olugbenga Omole, advised members to sustain their support for Governor Aiyedatiwa with a view to recording massive votes in the locality.

    He said: “This is a local government meeting. We have 15 wards in Akoko Southwest. It is the largest administratively. We are here to tell our people the reason they should continue to support Aiyedatiwa. Ondo State is peaceful.

    “We will be having regular ward meetings ahead of the election. We are going to give massive support to Aiyedatiwa.

    “This is the bedrock of the APC in Ondo State. Leaders from other camps are here. The party is going to get massive support in this local government.’’

    Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy, Mr. Johnson Alabi, an engineer; urged ward chairmen to mobilise their wards for the party’s success at the polls.

    A former member of the House of Representatives, Ade Adeogun, said the local government had a solid structure to deliver for Aiyedatiwa’s success.

    APC Chairman in Akoko Southwest Local Government, Chief Olashehinde Mise, enjoined members to remain united.

    Other stakeholders present at the meeting included the lawmaker representing Akoko Southwest/Akoko Southeast in the House of Representatives, Gbenga Adefarati; former Secretary to the State Government, Chief Abdulkadir Ajana; Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Affairs, Prince Boye Ologbese; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Involvement,  Felix Alonge; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Gbenga Atiba; Chairman of APC in Akoko Southwest Council, Elder Lawrence Rogbitan; Chairman of Ondo State House of Assembly Service Commission, Dare Emiola, among others.

    Protests: Ondo indigenes in US hail Aiyedatiwa over social intervention

    Nigerian professionals of Ondo State origin based in the United States of America, at the weekend commended the state governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for personally rising to the occasion in the wake of hardship protests, by personally interfacing with residents of the state.

    A statement issued by the State Director of Information, of Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC), Kayode Fasua, disclosed that  at a get-together held in Atalanta, Georgia, at the weekend the indigenes passed a vote of confidence in the governor, “for leaving the comfort of his office and home, to move around the state, to seek their understanding on the need to be peaceful and orderly.”

    According to the statement, the Director of Diaspora Matters for Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC), Hon.
