Ondo Govt, PDP trade blame over alleged ‘coordinated attack’ on Aiyedatiwa administration

The Ondo State Government and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have clashed over what the government described as a “coordinated attack” on the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The State Government had declared zero tolerance for what it called a “disturbing wave of blackmail, cyberbullying, and coordinated misinformation” allegedly targeted at Mr Aiyedatiwa and some senior officials.

According to the government, a group of individuals – including two legal practitioners – allegedly launched a smear campaign after their attempts to extract political and financial favours from the governor failed.

However, the PDP accused the government of seeking to weaponise the Cybercrime Act to “gag critics and silence dissent.”

In a statement in Akure at the weekend, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, described the group as unregistered, fraudulent, and driven by greed rather than patriotism.

Ajanaku said the group’s actions were aimed at discrediting and destabilising the current administration.

“These individuals demanded a staggering N200 million, claiming it was for ‘activism in support of the governor.’ When their fraudulent request was turned down, they launched a barrage of falsehoods and blackmail online,” Ajanaku alleged.

He added that Governor Aiyedatiwa welcomed constructive criticism but would not tolerate blackmailers “masquerading as activists.”

“The government will use every lawful means to ensure such individuals face justice,” he said, reiterating the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and people-centred governance.

Ajanaku warned that any further attacks on public officials would attract “swift legal and public consequences.”

“Enough is enough. Ondo State belongs to all of us, and we will not stand by while a few desperate individuals attempt to destroy its image for selfish gain,” he added.

In a swift response, the opposition PDP said the Aiyedatiwa administration was merely hiding behind allegations of blackmail and cyber extortion to avoid public scrutiny.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Mr Wande Ajayi, the party described the government’s claims as infantile, accusing the governor of attempting to silence dissenting voices in the state.

“We are aware that the government’s plan is to criminalise criticism and hound voices of accountability. That plan will fail. Ondo people are no longer afraid,” the PDP stated.

The party alleged that the government was “more interested in chasing shadows than addressing hunger, unemployment, and infrastructural decay ravaging the state.”

“Obviously, the only people blackmailing Ondo State today are those occupying Alagbaka who have reduced governance to a bazaar of deceit, propaganda, and self-glorification,” the statement read.

The PDP challenged the Aiyedatiwa-led administration to publish the list of contractors, payment records, and the true status of the 2025 budget implementation instead of what it called “cosmetic figures cooked up for the press.”

“A government drowning in scandals, opacity, and waste has no moral right to lecture anyone on integrity. When citizens demand accountability, the usual response from this administration is to cry ‘blackmail.’ It is the tactic of the guilty to play the victim when cornered by truth,” the party added.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa and his handlers should stop dragging the name of Ondo State into their petty propaganda circus. The people are not fooled – they see through the grandstanding and fake moral outrage,” the statement added.

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has cleared N1.4 billion backlog of gratuities owed retired local government workers and primary school teachers, who exited service in 2014.

Speaking at the launch in Akure yesterday, the governor described the gesture as a continuation of the bulk gratuity payment initiative he introduced while serving as deputy governor – aimed at clearing outstanding entitlements and restoring confidence among retirees.

He said the disbursement followed his administration’s structured payment process, which used the year of exit from public service as the sole qualification criterion to ensure fairness, transparency and predictability.

Aiyedatiwa added that the bulk payments for 2011, 2012 and 2013 sets under his administration were unprecedented in the history of the state.

He stressed that prompt payment of pensions and gratuities was not an achievement, but a moral and constitutional duty.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Adeniran Ikuomola, who represented the Head of Service, hailed the governor’s compassion and prioritisation of pensioners’ welfare.

Ondo Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has cleared a total of N1.4 billion backlog of unpaid gratuities to retired local government workers and primary school teachers who exited service in 2014.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Akure on Monday, Governor Aiyedatiwa described the gesture as a continuation of the bulk gratuity payment initiative he introduced while serving as Deputy Governor – aimed at clearing outstanding entitlements and restoring confidence among retirees.

He explained that the disbursement followed his administration’s structured payment process, which uses the year of exit from public service as the sole qualification criterion to ensure fairness, transparency, and predictability.

“I started this even when I was Deputy Governor. I presented the case to the then governor, who approved it, and we began saving money periodically. Whenever we had a favourable allocation, we set aside funds to settle retirees’ gratuities. This will continue now that we are fully in charge,” Aiyedatiwa said.

He added that the bulk payments for the 2011, 2012, and 2013 sets under his administration were unprecedented in the history of the state.

“Today, we are exiting 2014, and very soon, we will exit 2015, and so on, until everyone is cleared,” the Governor said.

“Since our assumption of office, we have paid serious and deliberate attention to the welfare of pensioners. Ondo is one of the few states in Nigeria that approved an upward review of a flat rate of ₦30,000 for pensioners to cushion the effects of the current economic hardship.”

He stressed that the prompt payment of pensions and gratuities was not an achievement but a moral and constitutional duty.

“We are often reluctant to list prompt payment of pensions as an achievement because it is our obligation. However, compared to times when pensions were paid in percentages or fractions, there is reason to celebrate,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa noted that the disbursement would rekindle hope among pensioners and reassure serving workers that their gratuities would be promptly paid after retirement.

He also announced that the next of kin of three local government staff who lost their lives in a motor accident while on official duty to Niger State would receive cheques for their terminal benefits.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Adeniran Ikuomola, who represented the Head of Service, commended the Governor’s compassion and prioritisation of pensioners’ welfare.

“Most of these retirees left service about 11 years ago and are now in their seventies. The Governor could have used N1.4 billion for other things but chose to prioritise the elderly,” he said.

Ikuomola advised beneficiaries to use the money wisely, pay attention to their health, and enrol in the state’s Contributory Health Scheme.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, praised the governor for initiating the pension savings scheme that now ensures regular gratuity payments.

“A week ago, when you asked about our savings balance and we told you, you said, ‘What are you waiting for? Pay them now!’ You also instructed that every quarter, funds must be saved for pensioners, he recalled.

Chairman of the National Union of Pensioners (NUP) in the state, Johnson Osunyemi, lauded the governor for restoring dignity to retirees and rekindling their hope.

Aiyedatiwa hails Tinubu for establishing Southwest Development Commission

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing South West Development Commission (SWDC).

He described it as a strategic initiative that would bridge developmental gaps and unlock the region’s economic potential.

President Tinubu had in March signed the SWDC Bill into law, mandating the commission to enhance infrastructure, economic growth and social welfare across Southwest.

The legislation was sponsored by Senator Gbenga Daniel, representing Ogun East, and received support from both chambers of the National Assembly before its final assent.

Speaking over the weekend at a thanksgiving reception held in honour of Dr. Jide Adewinle, the newly-appointed federal commissioner representing Ondo State in the commission, Aiyedatiwa said the creation of SWDC would help address developmental disparities and promote sustainable regional growth.

“The establishment of South West Development Commission is a laudable step by the Federal Government to tackle developmental imbalances, harness regional potential and promote sustainable growth.

“With the right leadership and collaboration, the commission will serve as a veritable tool for economic revitalisation, infrastructural renewal and social transformation in our region,” he said.

The governor pledged his administration’s readiness to collaborate with the commission to advance infrastructural renewal, industrialisation and youth empowerment across Ondo’s 18 local governments.

He described the appointment of Adewinle as well-deserved, noting that it was a recognition of competence, capacity and character.

“Over the years, Dr Adewinle has demonstrated exceptional commitment to community development, youth empowerment and professionalism,” Aiyedatiwa said.

“His appointment further projects Ondo State as a reservoir of capable men and women, who can stand tall anywhere in service to our nation.”

The governor urged the new appointee to embrace humility, inclusiveness and vision in his stewardship.

“Leadership is stewardship imbued with humility and accountability. Let your service reflect diligence and integrity. Expectations are high, but I’m confident you will make Ondo proud,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa said the state government would continue to work with SWDC and other federal institutions to ensure Ondo people benefited from ongoing and future developmental projects.

Dr Adewinle expressed gratitude to God, President Tinubu and Governor Aiyedatiwa for the opportunity to serve, promising to justify the confidence reposed in him.

He described the commission as a platform designed to promote education, infrastructure, welfare and economic empowerment, positioning Southwest for sustainable development.

The Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Andrew Ogunsakin, hailed the governor for approving a 5km road project in the council and lauded the ongoing projects across the state.

The thanksgiving, held at Adekunbi Hall, Iye Ile Resort Centre, Ode-Aye, drew dignitaries from across the country, including traditional rulers, political associates and well-wishers, who joined in celebrating the new appointee.

Aiyedatiwa commends Tinubu for establishing south-west development commission

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has praised President Bola Tinubu for establishing the South-West Development Commission (SWDC), describing it as a strategic move to bridge developmental gaps and unlock the region’s vast economic potential.

President Tinubu signed the SWDC Bill into law in March 2025, mandating the commission to drive infrastructure development, economic growth, and social welfare across the South-West. The bill, sponsored by Senator Gbenga Daniel representing Ogun East, received overwhelming support from both chambers of the National Assembly before its final assent.

Speaking at a thanksgiving reception held in honour of Dr. Jide Martins Adewinle, the newly appointed Federal Commissioner representing Ondo State in the commission, Aiyedatiwa said the SWDC would address regional disparities and promote sustainable development.

“The establishment of the South-West Development Commission is a laudable step by the Federal Government to tackle developmental imbalances, harness regional potential, and promote sustainable growth. With the right leadership and collaboration, the commission will serve as a veritable tool for economic revitalisation, infrastructural renewal, and social transformation in our region,” he said.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to partner with the commission to advance infrastructure renewal, industrialisation, and youth empowerment across Ondo State’s 18 local government areas.

He also described the appointment of Dr. Adewinle as well-deserved, noting that it was a recognition of competence, capacity, and character.

“Over the years, Dr Adewinle has demonstrated exceptional commitment to community development, youth empowerment, and professionalism,” Aiyedatiwa said.

“Leadership is stewardship imbued with humility and accountability. Let your service reflect diligence and integrity. Expectations are high, but I’m confident that you will make Ondo proud,” he added.

Aiyedatiwa also assured that the state government would continue to work closely with the SWDC and other federal institutions to ensure Ondo people benefit maximally from ongoing and future developmental projects.

“Our administration will continue to collaborate with the Commission to enhance regional integration, agricultural development, industrialisation, and youth empowerment—key pillars of our development agenda,” he said.

In his response, Dr Adewinle expressed gratitude to God, President Tinubu, and Governor Aiyedatiwa for the opportunity to serve, promising to justify the confidence reposed in him.

He described the Commission as a platform designed to promote education, infrastructure, welfare, and economic empowerment, positioning the South-West for sustainable development.

According to him, the establishment of the SWDC aligns with the visionary blueprint of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, whose policies in education, agriculture, and infrastructure transformed the region into Nigeria’s economic hub.

“What President Tinubu has done through this Commission is a continuation of Chief Awolowo’s dream for a prosperous South-West – a region driven by unity, innovation, and progress,” Adewinle said.

“The Commission will rekindle that legacy by driving growth in education, welfare, and infrastructure.”

He further explained that the SWDC would address the challenges of centralised development by implementing region-specific projects to boost economic fortunes and create jobs.

Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Andrew Ogunsakin, also commended the governor for approving a 5km road project in the council area and lauded the various ongoing projects across the state.

The Thanksgiving event, held at Adekunbi Hall, Iye Ile Resort Centre, Ode-Aye, drew dignitaries from across the country, including traditional rulers, political associates, and well-wishers who joined in celebrating the new appointee.

  • PDP, APC trade words over Aiyedatiwa’s performance

PDP, APC trade words over Aiyedatiwa’s performance

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have traded words over the performance of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa since his assumption of office.

While PDP accused Aiyedatiwa of failing to address the suffering of citizens despite the huge federal allocations and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) accruing to the state, APC dismissed the claims as spurious and politically-motivated.

Speaking yesterday in an interview on Radio Nigeria (Positive 102.9 FM Akure), monitored by The Nation, the PDP Chairman, Dupe Aisida, described Aiyedatiwa’s government as “cosmetic” and “failing in leadership.”

Aisida alleged that residents across the 18 local governments were groaning under poor governance and lack of tangible development by the current administration.

He lamented the absence of new infrastructural projects and decay of existing ones.

“Governance is not a game. We’re talking about the lives of millions of people. If anybody is in power, it is for us to tell them when they’re not getting it right. If they’re doing well, we commend them,” Aisida said.

“Politics aside, it is our duty to tell the government – it’s our money. We are all taxpayers. Whatever comes in belongs to every indigene of this state. We must ensure the government remains on its toes and spends the money judiciously.

“If you really want to know whether the government is doing well or not, just talk to ordinary people on the streets. The truth of the matter is that the government needs to sit up.”

The PDP chair noted that the state capital, Akure, had “never been this dirty,” alleging that state resources were being channelled into projects that did not reflect the needs of ordinary citizens.

He faulted Aiyedatiwa administration’s decision to build new apartments for political office holders, while citizens grappled with soaring rents and housing shortages.

Aisida also raised concerns over alleged irregularities in the recent teacher recruitment, citing reports of fake appointment letters and extortion of applicants.

“This government must sit up. People are suffering, and they need solutions, not window dressing,” he said.

In a swift reaction, APC described the allegations as false and misleading.

The party’s Director of Media and Publicity, Steve Otaloro, said the governor had introduced several palliatives, farmer empowerment programmes and market stabilisation interventions to cushion economic hardship on residents.

He maintained that projects in health, education, agriculture, security and road infrastructure were ongoing across the state, dismissing PDP’s description of “cosmetic governance” as a baseless attempt to discredit visible progress.

“Clinics are being rehabilitated, schools supported and contractors are at work on bona fide projects across the state. These are measurable, verifiable investments – not cosmetics,” he said.

On allegations of neglect in Akure, the APC spokesman said sanitation and road rehabilitation efforts were ongoing and challenged the opposition to provide verifiable instances of neglect for immediate action.

Otaloro also defended the provision of official accommodation for public officers as a cost-saving measure, reiterating the government’s commitment to affordable housing schemes for citizens.

Responding to the teacher recruitment controversy, he described the exercise as a well-received initiative, insisting that claims of fake letters and extortion were “irresponsible.”

He, however, assured citizens that a verification mechanism was in place and pledged to investigate any credible report of malpractice.

Aiyedatiwa to students: be patient, Tinubu’s reforms yielding results

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has urged Nigerian students to exercise patience with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying the ongoing economic reforms are beginning to produce positive macroeconomic outcomes.

Aiyedatiwa, who acknowledged the hardship being experienced by citizens, assured that the current challenges were temporary and that the reforms were necessary to stabilize the nation’s economy.

Speaking during a meeting with students’ representatives on Wednesday at his office in Akure, the governor said Nigeria would have been in a worse situation if the President had not implemented the reforms.

“It’s a temporary hardship that is easing up. The reforms are yielding results and benefits, and they are making the economy better. If these reforms had not been implemented, Nigeria would have been worse off today,” Aiyedatiwa said.

The governor reiterated his administration’s renewed focus on technical and vocational education, describing it as crucial for industrial growth and job creation.

According to him, the state government is giving special attention to technical education as more investors arrive in the state in need of skilled labour.

He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting education and youth development through scholarships, grants, and other financial interventions, commending student leaders for their responsible conduct, which he said had sustained peace across campuses in the state.

“Since I became governor, there has been no student unrest. You have engaged constructively without any form of violent agitation,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa emphasised the need for public-private collaboration to address accommodation challenges faced by students, urging investors to build hostels within and around campuses to complement government efforts and improve student security.

“The government cannot provide everything. Resources are limited. That’s why we are calling on investors to build hostels for students. It’s a viable venture that will also enhance student security,” he added.

As part of measures to improve student welfare, the governor announced the approval of five new buses for student unions across tertiary institutions in the state, with more to be provided subsequently.

Highlighting his administration’s infrastructural efforts, Aiyedatiwa cited the ongoing reconstruction of the Akungba–Ikare road, which he said was initiated to reduce road accidents and boost local commerce.

“We had to reconstruct that road because of the high rate of accidents near Akungba University. It’s a technical road, but we’ve started it and we will complete it,” he assured.

He also pledged to resolve electricity challenges at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), to enhance academic and research productivity.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Segun Omoyofunmi, lauded the governor’s consistent engagement with youths, describing him as a listening leader who has doubled bursaries and scholarships for students and introduced an under-17 football competition to promote youth empowerment.

Similarly, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Affairs, Comrade Kelvin Solomon Olaolu (KSO), lauded the governor’s calm leadership style and support for the student community.

“In the history of student unionism in this state, we have maintained peace and order because of your leadership style. You have been a father to us, and we appreciate your efforts in increasing bus allocations and extending support to private institutions,” he said.

Student leaders from various institutions used the occasion to highlight pressing issues in tertiary education, including accommodation, transportation, and security.

The President of the Niger Delta Students’ Union, Comrade Martins Ayemoluwa, called for the development of the Niger Delta region as a hub for innovation and investment, advocating for improved solar energy and marine science projects in the state.

Also, the Chairperson of the National Female Students Association of Nigeria (NFSAN), Ondo Chapter, Comrade Precious Ikuenomore, urged the governor to prioritize the safety of female students, citing the unsafe distance of female hostels from the University of Medical Sciences campus.

The NANS JCC Chairman, Comrade Mayomi Adekanye, commended the governor’s responsiveness but appealed for consistency in addressing student concerns, especially in accommodation and transportation.

Also, the NAOSS President, Comrade Temitope Alade, called for the establishment of security outposts near campuses and the revival of NDDC scholarships, while the NAUS Chairman, Comrade Adegoriola Abejoye, praised the governor for fulfilling about 80 percent of previous promises but urged the timely delivery of buses, road repairs, and employment opportunities for student stakeholders.

  • My government is open to criticism, says Aiyedatiwa

My government is open to criticism, says Aiyedatiwa

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has affirmed that his administration remains open to constructive criticism, emphasizing that good governance depends on transparency, accountability, and public participation.

The governor, who recently faced criticism from opposition figures accusing him of underperformance, said his government welcomes sincere feedback that can help improve service delivery.

In the past week, Isaac Fayose, younger brother to former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, faulted Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, alleging that despite Ondo’s status as an oil-producing state, the administration had little to show for its federal allocations.

Fayose also described Ondo as “one of the dirtiest states” in Nigeria with “very low development.”

Speaking at a praise and worship concert in Akure, the state capital, Aiyedatiwa maintained that his administration is responsible and receptive to the people’s voices.

He reaffirmed his commitment to democratic values and policies designed to transform the socio-economic fortunes of the state.

He added that no government is perfect and called for citizens’ prayers, support, and honest feedback to enhance governance and service delivery.

“For every one of us, continue to pray for this government – not just the church alone. You are also charged to pray for all men, especially those in authority. We are open to constructive criticism.

“There are avenues where you can talk to us – you can write letters, you can engage us, and we are ready to listen. You elected us, and this is your government. God used you to install this government; you can lay claim to it. You only put me here to serve you and the service I will give to you,” the governor said.

Aiyedatiwa assured residents that his administration would continue to provide an enabling environment for businesses and individuals to thrive, adding that the state capital, Akure, remains safe for both residents and visitors.

“You can live and work here in Akure anytime of the night. Everywhere is bright. No evil will come near you because the cloud of God is here and over everyone of us,” he told the gathering.

On ongoing road projects across the state, the governor urged citizens to exercise patience, explaining that most of the construction works were delayed due to the rainy season.

“Some of the roads we are constructing were in terrible condition, and that is why we awarded them for reconstruction. It is not a microwave business that happens instantly – it will take time,” Aiyedatiwa noted.

“The contractors are on site, and we are not owing them. They will deliver at the right time. We just need patience. Where palliative work is required, we will intervene once the weather is dry so that people can still use the roads before their final completion,” he further said.

Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the security of lives and property, assuring residents that the government would not relent in its efforts to sustain peace and development across the state.

CSO tasks Aiyedatiwa on LG autonomy

A civic organisation – Ondo Redemption Front has charged the state Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa on total autonomy for local government administration to allow for grassroots development.

The civic organisation which is committed to truth and accountability noted that this was to compliment the Federal Government’s desire in ensuring that effective governance was enhanced through effective local government administration.

Chairman of the organisation, Ayodeji Ologun, made the call at the group’s September Edition of its State of state address in Abuja.

Ologun said that as a group of concerned lawyers, the group had earlier raised serious concerns regarding the state of healthcare, governance, infrastructure, and financial accountability in Ondo state.

He said: “Ordinarily, we ought to have had this press conference in Akure but our deep concern to draw the attention of the Federal Government on the Local Government funds in Ondo State have brought us here.

“You will recall that the Attorney General of the Federation sometimes approached, the Supreme Court in order to give life to our Local Governments. The reliefs sought by the Federal Government for our Local Government were granted.

“The Attorney General assured Nigerians and by extension Ondo State people that our local governments will have an independent way of accessing their funds directly from the federation account for effective local government administration.”

Ologun added: “We hereby call on the Federal Government and the Attorney General of the Federation to revisit the implementation of the Supreme Judgment on Local Government autonomy.

Ologun said that true governance demanded listening, planning, and acting decisively.

He said that the group was worried about the implementation of some programmes which have little benefit to the people instead of strengthening community participation and resolving long-standing conflicts through dialogue.

The Ondo Redemption Front, therefore, called for the immediate and unconditional release of Local Government funds to all the Local Government in Ondo state as released by the federal government through the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).

Also speaking, Co-Chairman of the Ondo Redemption Front, Mogbojuri Kayode said: “Citizens should not be at the mercy of governance. It is only right for the government to tell us how the Ondo state funds have been used so far. “It is the right of the people for the government to disclose this information.”

  • Ondo AG, Kayode Ajulo shines

    Ondo AG, Kayode Ajulo shines

One of the pivotal appointments made by Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa was the selection of Olukayode Abraham Ajulo as his Chief Law Officer. Ajulo, a distinguished and astute legal mind, is precisely the type of advisor Governor Aiyedatiwa needs to navigate the complexities of governance and effectively serve the people of Ondo State. Since his appointment as the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in February 2024, this young, dynamic Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) has consistently demonstrated that his role is both significant and impactful.

In a bold move earlier this year, Governor Aiyedatiwa decided to dissolve his entire cabinet, yet notably exempted Ajulo and one other commissioner from this sweeping dismissal, highlighting the critical nature of their responsibilities. Ajulo’s legal prowess and strategic thinking have become even more evident following the Governor’s recent favorable ruling at the Supreme Court, effectively solidifying his reputation as an exceptional attorney.

As State Attorney General, the Akoko-born legal luminary has fully immersed himself in the myriad of legal challenges surrounding his principal, especially those related to the contentious 2024 Governorship election. Understanding the gravity of these legal battles, Ajulo took it upon himself to assemble a formidable team of lawyers, drawing on the expertise of some of the country’s finest legal minds, including Wole Olanipekun, Adegboyega Awomolo, Charles Edosanwan, Tayo Oyetibo, Olusola Oke, Hakeem Afolabi, Ebun Olu-Adegboruwa, Prof. Remi Olatubora, and Prof. Abdul Kana, among other prominent senior lawyers. This collaborative effort exemplifies his commitment to not only defend his principal but also safeguard the integrity of the state’s legal framework.

While the recent successes in the courts have undoubtedly elevated his professional standing, Ajulo had already carved out a distinguished reputation within Nigeria’s legal sphere well before his appointment. His standards are undeniably high; he steadfastly adheres to his principles and never shies away from tough decisions, regardless of whose interests may be at stake. Ajulo is recognized as one of Nigeria’s leading lawyers, a considerable wealth of knowledge and expertise, yet he remains grounded, driven by core values rather than mere convenience or self-interest.

His willingness to accept the role of Attorney General has sparked mixed reactions among many admirers, who believe that his achievements as an attorney exceed the confines of public office. In circles in Abuja, he has earned the affectionate title of ‘go-to-lawyer’ because of his exceptional ability to provide politically astute, diplomatically sound, and legally comprehensive solutions for high-net-worth clients.

Ajulo’s accolades include the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) and a notable past as the youngest National Secretary of the Labour Party. His remarkable legal victories have won him admiration both domestically and internationally since the commencement of his legal career, further amplifying his impact within the legal community.

Today, the multiple successes of Governor Aiyedatiwa serve as a testament to his strategic selections and political acumen, demonstrating qualities that his peers would do well to emulate in order to achieve success in their own endeavors. Ajulo’s ongoing contributions are not only reshaping the legal landscape in Ondo State but are also setting a benchmark for excellence in governance and representation.
