  • Ajayi Crowther Varsity begins OND/HND conversion

Ajayi Crowther University Oyo and Ascending Business School, Ibadan, have started a part-time Master in Business Administration, (MBA) as well as HND to BSC conversion programmes.

Ascending Business School  Managing Director James Adeleye Adeosun, said the initiatives  would equip individuals with  entrepreneurial skills to thrive in the labour market, and,  on the long run, boost the nation’s Gross Domestic Products (GDP).

The initiative would also boost entrepreneurial skills and give business opportunities to individuals in the business circle, Adeosun added.

“With the programmes, working class adults and other candidates can obtain quality degree programmes, get a business, link with local and international authorities and institutions,” he added.

Adeosun noted that many universities and other tertiary institutions need to be more enterprising.

He added: “Many of them (tertiary institution) depend too much on the government; they are not really thinking in the line of industry and applying knowledge to raise fund. That is what we do here. We have business school and we train our students to be able to apply the knowledge to generate fund.

“There is no link between the academic institutions and the industry as we have in developed countries. Institutions’ faculty of engineering cannot come up with ideas to generate fund and benefit their immediate society, while their faculty of agriculture cannot come up with produce to benefit their host community. They are not converting the knowledge in a way that people can use it immediately.”
