  • THE MANY FACES OF AKPORORO

    AKPORORO, whose real name is Jephta Bowoto, is a man of many parts. He is a comedian, singer, dancer, and also directs the choir of the church he attends in Okokomaiko. The charismatic entertainer is also passionate about his faith.

    As he loves to put it, “This is our own club, so feel free to misbehave here.” He is presently on tour in the United States and will be performing in Chicago, Dallas, Maryland, Los Angeles, and Atlanta.

    Having made a name for himself as a comedian, the versatile entertainer has pursued his passion in music and movies. He acted in Head Gone; a movie produced by Dare Fasusi, stage name Baba D, garnering an award for Best actor in a comedy at the GIAMA awards in Houston, Texas this year. He was also nominated in the Best actor in a comedy at the AMVCA awards this year for his efforts.

    Earlier this month, Akpororo dropped a new single titled Give am Praise from his forthcoming album. Some of his other previously released singles are Days of Elijah and Thank am o. Apkororo is of Ogun State origin, although he grew up in Warri which accounts for his ‘Waffi’ flavour.

    The management of Lead City University honoured fast rising comedian and Airtel ambassador, Jephta Bowoto, popularly known as Akpororo, and its former student, Mary Josephine Abraham, who wedded the comedian. The elaborate carnival-like traditional wedding which was held at Adeline Hall of Lead City University Ibadan attracted top personalities in the showbiz business and the registrar of the institution, Dr. Bola Ayeni.

    The registrar while advising the couple during the traditional rite urged them to be prayerful and not allow third party in their union, while describing the bride as a diligent and easygoing student during her undergraduate days at Lead City University.

    It could be recalled that the comedian proposed to his wife on 1st August and the couple had their wedding last weekend in Lagos after the traditional wedding in Ibadan.

    COMEDIAN Jephta Bowoto, aka Akpororo may just be planning towards tying the nuptial knot, with the public introduction of a lady he calls his fiancée.

    Posting her picture on social media, he wrote: #appreciation my world, my dream finally comes true, introducing us to you all.”

    Reports say, Akpororo, in his usual dramatic manner, proposed to the lady, before the congregation, in their Ultimate Power Ministry church.

    This was said to have taken place during the church’s special service attended by the likes of Shortfamily, Laffdoctor, Wiseone and Ovie (The generous).

    Apart from Standup comedy, Akpororo is also noted for music, as coordinator of the “Ojo Mass Choir”. He also directs a dance group and organises an annual programme tagged ‘Ojo Mega Praise Jam’ in Okokomaiko, Lagos.
