    •Eaglets keeper holds thanksgiving service

Golden Eaglets goalkeeper, Dele Alampasu was full of praises to God during a thanksgiving/anointing services yesterday held in his honour.

The ceremony, which took place at the Christ Miracle Church Mission (CMCM) World Wide was conducted by Prophet Peter Abiola Adebisi , World Wide, Akiode, Ojodu, Lagos.

Alampasu, who was a former player of the church’s youth club (Champion of five football team), was at the church to express his appreciation to God following his good outing at the just concluded FIFA U-17 World Cup in UAE.

In his sermon, prophet Adebisi eulogised and counselled Alampasu to be of good behaviour. He urged him not to be carried away by the success of the tournament.

“I am proud and hounoured to have Alampasu in the church for this thanksgiving/anointing service. He is one of our own and we thank God for what he has done in his life. My advice for you (Alampasu) is to remain who you are. Be of good conduct and a good ambassador of the church. Beware of women and illicit drugs which in my candid opinion can quickly destroy one’s life. I know that this is just the beginning of your success and by the grace of God you will attain greater heights in Jesus name,” prophet Adebisi said.

“He is the one of the many players to have passed through our youth team and with prayer and the power of God he is where he is today. And I pray that God will continue to be with you.”

A joyful Alampasu in his response, thanked the prophet and members of the church for their prayers over his achievements. He promised not to let the church down.

“I thank you all for your support and prayers. I really appreciate the love you have for me. When I was here before my Eaglets adventure you received me with open hands and prayed for me. Today, God has answered our prayers with success.’’

Interestingly, prophet Adebisi once anointed Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi and prophesised his appointment as national team coach and Eagles victory at the last Africa Cup of Nations.

Super Eagles defender, Godfrey Obaobona is another player that has being blessed by the church.

“Before Keshi became Super Eagles coach, the lord spoke to me that they should go and bring him and I prayed for him that he will be the next coach of Nigeria. And he will also to win the Nations Cup and he will qualify us for the World Cup. And by the grace of God all came to pass and after the victory Keshi came here to do his thanksgiving.

“Also, when Sunshine Stars came here for prayer when they were going to Egypt for a match, l told them they are going to lose because they came here very late. But l told them that Obaobona will be a Super Eagles player and he is there now.

Mexico won’t score against me — Alampasu

Golden Eaglets’ goalkeeper, Dele Alampasu, has acknowledged Nigerians’ support even after he made some mistakes in goal at the beginning of the Dubai 2013 FIFA Under 17 World Cup.

A now confident Alampasu has promised that there won’t be a repeat of such howlers in the final against reigning champions, Mexico.

The goalie was guilty of some questionable decisions in the Eaglets’ first two matches and his flaws were the talking points of Nigeria’s group stage matches.

However, having improved his performances in subsequent games till the semi final stage when he capped his inspiring displays with eye-catching saves that denied the Swedes an opportunity for a comeback, Alampasu said he in the form of his life ahead of the final against Mexico today.

Speaking with SportingLife in Dubai, the Football College Academy goaltender said he would ensure that he keeps his two-match clean sheet record intact in the final against the El Tri of Mexico today.

“We thank God for all he has done for us. We are in the final and are poised to battle the Mexicans to win the title.

“I had some off days in the group stage but I have overcome that now. I have not conceded any goal since the last the team conceded against Iran in the round of 16. I hope to extend the streak in the final against Mexico,” Alampasu assured Nigerians.

The Eaglets have scored 23 goals and let in only five in the six matches they have played before today’s final in Abu Dhabi against the defending champions.
