  • Another Kaduna APC Lawmaker resigns from party

Another lawmaker from Kaduna State, Barrister Mohammed Musa Soba, representing Soba federal Constituency on Wednesday resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress saying he can no longer remain in a party lacks the requisite discipline, cohesion and democratic characteristics to continue to retain his respect, confidence and loyalty.

Soba, who is a former Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Kaduna state is quiting the party three days after Senator Shehu Sani resigned from the APC.

Soba’s resignation letter dated October 24 2018 was addressed to the Chairman of the party in Sob ward of Soba federal Constituency in Kaduna and another to the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The letter to the ward Chairman, a copy of which was made available to The Nation reads: “I write to formally notify you that I have decided to resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with effect from Wednesday 24th October, 2018.

“My Idea of belonging to a political party in a democratic setting has always been to ensure that the right of the people to freedom of choice among other rights is jealously secured and guaranteed. Unfortunately, lack of respect for democratic ideals, contempt for party rules, impunity and egocentric divisions among party leaders and members have now become more pronounced than ever before. It is clear that the center can no longer hold. The APC as it is presently constituted lacks the requisite discipline, cohesion and democratic characteristics to continue to retain my respect, confidence and loyalty.

“Consequently, by this letter, I am bringing to your notice that I have resigned my membership of the All Progressives Congress and have ceased to be a member of the APC henceforth. Accept my sympathy and best wishes as we prepare for the 2019 general elections.”

In a separate letter to the Speaker, Soba basis “As are aware, the All Progressives Congress is yet to recover from the self-inflicted injury occasioned by double standard, indiscipline and sheer impunity in the conduct of its affairs.

“It is regrettable that the APC which has enjoyed a lot of goodwill after its formation which culminated in our electoral victory in 2015 is now in disarray due to a complex mixture of ineptitude and inability to understand the dynamics of power in a democratic system of government.

“Mr Speaker, I have been personally short changed by a system, i so much trusted and believed in. I have also been serially deceived and defrauded by a political party I helped to nurture and sustain.

However, it is the sharp division within the APC members and the mutual antagonism between the membership and the leadership of the APC more than any other factor that propelled me to take my exit from the All Progressives Congress.

“Accordingly, I wish to place it on record that from today 24th October, 2018, I cease to be a member of the All Progressives Congress having tendered my resignation letter to all the relevant party organs. Since the political horizon is wide enough to accommodate my ideology and aspirations, I shall announce the name of my new political party in the next few days. Please accept the assurances of my highest regards and best wishes as always.”

Soba is one of the lawmakers who lost the APC ticket following the insistence of Gov. Nasir El-Rufai after staying back in the party and failing to defect along side others to the PDP.

  • PDP accuses APC of ‘fabrication’ against Atiku, Obi

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of fabricating spurious publications against its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Mr. Peter Obi.

The party insisted that its presidential flag bearers have been well-received by Nigerians across board, contrary to what it described as spurious publications.

A statement Wednesday by the spokesman for the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party further knocked the APC and the Presidency for alleged smear campaign against the PDP candidates.

The statement said, “Having failed in their attempts to smear him with unfounded allegations, they have now resorted to attacking our vice presidential candidate and trying to create the impression that he is not well received in some parts of the country.

“The PDP is already aware of how the APC has paid millions of naira to hack writers to spin negative narratives with a view to create an impression of disagreement and bad blood among our leaders and members across the northern and southern divides, who have since aligned with the Atiku/Obi ticket.

“The PDP and majority of Nigerians are aware that the APC and the Muhammadu Buhari Presidency have been jittery since the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as our Presidential candidate, a disposition that heightened with the choice of Peter Obi as his running mate, hence their frenzy to cause confusion within our fold.

“The PDP restates that the combination of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, with their internationally acclaimed forthrightness, hard work, ingenuity and managerial competencies, guarantee a prudent and result-oriented administration that will liberate our nation from the economic shackles which the wasteful, incompetent, and deceptive APC administration has plunged our nation into.

“Furthermore, the Buhari Presidency and APC’s unrelenting resort to fabrications and personal attacks against our candidates instead of presenting their claimed achievements and programmes to Nigerians, confirms that they have nothing to offer as they have been trending on false performance claims and propaganda.

“On our own part, the PDP, as a Pan Nigerian and performance-oriented political party, will never descend to the shallows with the fading APC and the Buhari Presidency, but focus on how to salvage our nation from the economic hardship, acute hunger and starvation as well as the daily bloodletting that have become the order of the day under the President Buhari administration.

“Nigerians have gone through enough pain and anguish under President Buhari and no amount of smear campaign and personal attack on our candidates will ever whittle their resolve to vote in Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi with their proven political will and commitment to the welfare of Nigerians”.

  • APC primaries exposed Oshiomhole’s incompetence, says Akeredolu

Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on Wednesday said the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries exposed the incompetence of its chairman Adams Oshiomhole.

He described the primaries as “political charade”, saying they not only exposed the “sheer incompetence” of APC’s national leadership, but revealed “a shocking proclivity towards banditry and impunity”.

Akeredolu said recent events justified his opposition to Oshiomhole’s choice as party chairman.

According to him, those who feel aggrieved reserve the right to demand justice, including calling for Oshiomhole’s removal.

The governor, however, restated his commitment to work “assiduously” for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election, who he said is loved by the people of Ondo who see his re-election as a “patriotic duty”.

Akeredolu, in a statement by his Senior Special Adviser on Special Duties and Strategy Dr Doyin Odebowale, was reacting to an allegation that three governors, led by Akeredolu, was bent on sabotaging the party.

During a pro-Oshiomhole protest at the APC Secretariat in Abuja, Akeredolu’s name was mentioned as the “leader” of “conservatives” bent on working against the re-election bid of President  Buhari the removal of Oshiomole as APC chairman.

But, Akeredolu, who described organizers of the protest as “opportunists”, denied the allegation that he led governors of Ogun, Kaduna Adamawa and Ekiti States against Oshiomole’s leadership.

Akeredolu said he found the report laughable and distracting, adding that as a fiercely independent personality, he was not about to change his attitude to please any person or a group of persons.

“There is no truth in the whole contrivance. The governor has been pre-occupied with matters of governance in Ondo State for which he was elected,” the statement said.

Read Also: No development without unity, says Akeredolu

Akeredolu recalled his “noble interventions” as Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President at critical moments in the cause of the progressives, including in restoring Oshiomole’s stolen mandate.

The statement said: “The Governor had expressed preference for someone else during the contest for the office of the Chairman of the Party.

“He did not hide his opposition to Mr Oshiomole’s aspiration for the simple reason that the leadership of a party, especially the one just emerging from a merger, should distance itself from egregious and inherently destructive narcissism.

“Recent events seem to justify this position as prescient. Only sycophants will fail to see the obvious. Mr President would not have expressed worries over the crises in the Party if everything had gone on smoothly.

“The handlers of the mob strive in vain to set the President against certain government functionaries considered antagonistic to their pernicious scheme for dominance.

“Their devious plot to outsmart those perceived as opposing their expansionist tendency compelled them to take desperate measures. Anyone endowed with an attitude of sobriety should have seen the need for calm.

“Rather than retrace their steps and display genuine contrition, their desperation pushes them to embrace measures capable of not only hurting the Party, but, regrettably, the President, whom they pretend to love so much.”

Akeredolu said it was ludicrous that anyone would consider him a conservative.

“Those who collected varying and humongous amounts as fees from aspirants during the last grandiose charade called primaries and submitted names dictated to them by a cabal, notorious for capturing political power for unbridled pillage, should be bold to explain their real motives to the people. They should be honest enough to deal with the issues.

“Events, which took place across the country during the political charade, have exposed not only sheer incompetence on the part of the national leadership of the party, but painfully, it has revealed a shocking proclivity towards banditry and impunity.

“It is becoming clear, increasingly, that party leadership at that level is seriously challenged in terms of capacity for serious engagements.

“Arakunrin Akeredolu, SAN, does not need to move from ‘North’ to ‘South’ to collect signatures from victims of electoral heist. He was in Ondo State throughout last week.

“He was at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, to deliver a lecture on restructuring a few days ago. He is at presently in Canada on a working visit.

“Only the mob and their hirers can explain the imagined movement from North to South. However, those who feel aggrieved reserve the right to demand that justice be done. If this includes the removal of Mr Oshiomole, so be it.

“May we seize this opportunity to reiterate the fact that the people of Ondo State are favourably disposed to the second term bid of Mr President.

“Our people are unique; they are unwavering in their support for justice. They alone determine what is in their best interest at all times. The President is loved by the people of Ondo State.

“All of us shall work, assiduously, for the President’s victory at the polls next year. We do not need any band of mendicants ready for hire to remind us of this sacred patriotic duty,” the statement added.

  • Oshiomhole questions competence of suit seeking his probe for graft

Court schedules hearing for Nov 19

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has queried the competence of a suit seeking his probe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for corruption related conduct.

Oshiomhole, who also questioned the plaintiff’s right under the law, to seek to compel the EFCC to probe his tenure as Governor of Edo State, urged the court to dismiss the suit for being incompetent.

The plaintiff, Bishop Osadolor Ochei said he, on October 28, 2016 petitioned the EFCC, demanding that Oshiomhole be  investigated on some allegations he (Ochei) has made against the ex-Governor.

The said his suit, filed before the Federal High Court, Abuja and marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/ was as a result of the EFCC’s alleged failure to act on his petition.

Plaintiff’s  lawyer, West Idahosa said the court that there were documents and electronic pictures of palatial houses credited to the former governor, whose earnings throughout his lifetime, according to the plaintiff, could not have been able to afford.

Idahosa said, among other allegations, there was evidence that the ex-Governor allegedly diverted Edo State’s funds.

He claimed that there are also vouchers of exorbitant air fares that the former governor allegedly incurred.

Oshiomhole, in a notice of preliminary objection filed by his lawyer, Damien Dodo (SAN), argued that the plaintiff lacked the locus stand to bring the suit.

In the objection, supported by 10 grounds, Oshiomhole argued that the suit has become a mere academic exercise since the plaintiff failed to file the suit for judicial review within three months of the occurrence of the subject of the case.

He argued that the action or inaction of the EFCC being subjected to review by the proceedings occurred on December 13, 2016, while the plaintiff only institute the action for judicial review on June 13, 2018.

He noted that this came about 18 months after the occurrence of the alleged failure being complained about.

Oshiomhole contended that the plaintiff’s right of action has become unenforceable, because Ochei has been unable to state that he has the legal right to file and maintain the suit for judicial review, “having not shown how the actions of the second respondent/applicant affected him over and above other residents and indegenes of Edo State.”

He further argued that the court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the suit for failure of the plaintiff to commence the action within the time provided by extant rules of the court and for failure to disclose locus standi to file the action.

The judge, Justice Anwuli Chikere, had on October 8, 2018, granted leave to the plaintiff to commence the suit for “judicial review”.
Justice Chikere granted the leave upon an ex parte motion to that effect filed by the plaintiff and ordered that Oshiomhole and the EFCC be served with all the processes filed in the suit.

The EFCC was not represented by any lawyer when the case came up on Tuesday.

Idahosa told the court that the commission was duly served as ordered by the court, following which the judge adjourned to November 19 for hearing

  • I am not fighting Buhari, Tinubu, Oshiomhole – Fayemi

Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has said he enjoys the best of relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole and National Leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Fayemi described the claim of a political pressure group, Buhari Support Group that he is working against the President as “baseless and unfounded.”

The Ekiti governor also dismissed the allegations that he is working to remove Oshiomhole and that he is fighting Tinubu.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode, Fayemi wondered how the group came about the alleged feud with the three senior party figures.

Fayemi said he holds Buhari, Oshiomhole and Tinubu in high esteem noting that the trio contributed immensely to his victory in the last governorship election in Ekiti.

He said: “Governor Fayemi holds President Buhari, Asiwaju Tinubu and Comrade Oshimohole in high esteem and he still maintains a good relationship with them which is not hidden.

“We don’t know where the Buhari Support Group got their story from; Governor Fayemi has the best of respect for these eminent party leaders and he has no reason to be working against them.

“Let us ask ourselves, on what basis will Dr. Fayemi will be working against the President? This was the man who appointed him Minister and supported him to regain the governorship seat.

“Why will he fight Comrade Oshiomhole? It was under his chairmanship that APC won back Ekiti and everybody knew the role played by the national chairman.

“Asiwaju Tinubu is a mentor to the governor; both of them had come a long way in a relationship that has lasted over two decades.

“In fact, Asiwaju attended the governor’s inauguration last week and the roles he played in the APC victory in Ekiti election cannot be forgiven in a hurry.

“Governor Fayemi has no reason to fight or work against our revered President, our respected national chairman and our revered national leader.

“The allegation is false, baseless, unfounded and exists only in the imagination of those peddling it.”

  • APC women protest marginalization, threaten to boycott 2019 elections

Some aggrieved female members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have accused the party of marginalizing women in the current political dispensation and failing to live by its promise of giving 35 percent elective and appointive positions to women.

The women threaten to boycott the 2019 general election or vote against the party of nothing is done to address their plight, saying rather than 35 percent, women has only gotten 0.5 percent of position to contest the forth coming elections at least levels.

Speaking with newsmen during the protest, one of the aspirants from Imo state, Milicent Duru, said despite paying huge sums of money for nomination and expression of interest forms, the ruling APC still marginalized them at primaries nationwide.

She said: “We women have been marginalized for a very long time and it has to stop because we still need to be included for the 2019 general election. We were promised 35% affirmative for women.

“In August the president of Nigeria came for a summit organised by Women in Politics, the president spoke that women were going to be included, his wife the First Lady also spoke that women will be included and even the National Chairman of the APC promised us that this time around we must get our 35% affirmative.

“So far, what we have in APC now is about 0.5% from statistics. So, to us it’s a scam and it’s not as if we do not have the capacity or we did not buy nomination forms forms, we bought the forms, we paid half of the money compared to other parties, which does not charge women for anything.

“So, we paid good money for but to our surprises, we are wondering why we should not be included in the affairs  of the country when we are the best, when we are the main people that will bring out people to vote in the 2019 election. If this continues, it shows we are going to boycott 2019 election. That is exactly why we are protesting today.

“We are women of APC this is APC secretariat. I am speaking on behalf of the women in APC, why because we even paid 50% of the forms, no party in this country pays up to what we paid. So, we should be given the respect, we should be included in this country.”

When asked for their demand from the leadership of APC, Duhu said: “What we are (women) having now APC is 0.5%. It doesn’t meet up at all. We also have the right to protest, we bought the forms, we should be included. We shouldn’t be treated like people who do not have a right in this country, we have every right to do anything we need to do so we should be respected.”

  • ‘Give us our elected candidate in Akure North’

Agitations rose on Tuesday among stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure North local government.

They urged its state leadership  to correct the alleged injustice in the constituency.

Besides, they demanded the immediate declaration of the authentic winner of its primaries for the State Assembly.

The stakeholders in a statement signed by party’s local government chairman, Joshua Eleti, former party chairman,Nathaniel Babalola, former member, Ondo  Assembly,Chief Isaac Adeyemi and the immediate past  Chairman of  the local government, Dele Babalola decried the imposition of Abiodun Faleye instead of Dele Ologun who reportedly won the primary election conducted in the area.

The party supporters urged the party leadership to reconsider its decision and do the needful in the interest of the people, the party and the 2019 general elections.

According to the statement”  if this is not corrected, opposition parties may take advantage of the action to erroneously win the constituency”.

  • Supreme Court condemns APC, Appeal Court handling of Rivers congresses

    …Says party’s action condemnable

…Faults Appeal Court for tolerating APC’s excesses

The Supreme Court came down hard on Monday on the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt Division over their handling of the processes leading to the party’s congresses held in Rivers State in May this year.

A panel of five justices of the court held, in a judgment, that the APC acted in “condemnable, egregious and preposterous” manner by proceeding to conduct its ward, local government and state congresses of May 19, 20 and 21, 2018, respectively, in Rivers State, in disregard of a pending court order restraining it from so acting.

Read Also:Supreme Court reinstates injunction order against Rivers APC congresses

The panel headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) said the Appeal Court, Port-Harcourt engaged “a sacrilegious exercise of discretion” by ignoring the doctrine of stare decisis ‎in its June 21, 2018 judgment, given in favour of the APC, despite the party’s decision to conduct its congresses in Rivers State in breach of subsisting orders of the High Court of the state.

The judgment was on an appeal by 23 APC members, including Ibrahim Umar, David Ndah, Prince Morris, Kudem Bale, and Otokim Jack, who were aggrieved by the outcome of APC’s congresses.

Justice Centus Nweze, who read the lead judgment, upheld the appeal and proceeded to set aside the June 21, 2018 order of the Court of Appeal, with which it stayed the execution of the May 11 and May 30 orders made by the High Court of Rivers State stopping the conduct of the congresses.

Justice. Nweze, after reviewing the handling of the case by the Part-Harcourt division of the Appeal Court, said: “Regrettably, the lower court condoned the condemnations, egregious and preposterous approach of the respondent herein (APC).”

He said the Supreme Court will not support such unruly conduct as exhibited by the APC in Rivers State.

Jusice Nweze added: “Well, this court (Supreme Court) has a duty to resist this attempt to achieve forensic victory through jiggery-pokery. True to its constitutional mandate, this court cannot lend its weight to this unhealthy approach.

“Therefore, I have a duty to allow this appeal. Accordingly, I hereby enter an order setting aside the ruling of the lower court delivered on June 21, 2018.”

Justice Nweze upheld the contention by the appellants that the Appeal Court ought not to have granted the order of stay of execution in favour of APC while the party was still in disobedience of the order of the High Court.

Justice Nweze noted that on May 11, 2018, “not minding the invasion of the court by hoodlums, an invasion that was charaterised by the destruction of items of the court, the court was still able to deliver its ruling and issued an interlocutory injunctive orders restraining the respondents from conducting its congresses….

“As if that was not enough, on May 19 and May 20, and May 21, respectively, in notwithstanding the pendency of the injunctive orders, the respondent (APC) went ahead to conduct the ward, local government and state congresses.

“This defiance has prompted the high court’s order of mandatory injunction of May 30. The restraining order cancels state congresses of May 12, 19, 20 and 21.

“Despite the subsisting orders of the court, orders of May 11 and 30, the respondent in the most impudent manner, the besieged the  Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt Division for an entreaty to favour it with an order of stay of proceedings and order of stay of execution.

“The lower court sitting on both, favoured the respondent, that is, the applicant before it, with an order staying the execution of the ‘order of injunction made by the High Court of Rivers State, Port H in the ruling delivered by Nwogu J, on Friday, May 11, 2018.’

“The simple truth therefore, is that, when the respondent applied for stay of execution before the lower court, it was in gross disobedience of the positive order of the trial court.

“From all indications, notwithstanding this unfortunate development, the lower court still found it legitimate to favour the respondent with a positive of order of stay of execution. This was wrong,” Justice Nweze said.

He faulted the Appeal Court’s failure to abide by the doctrine of “stares decisis” and refusal to subject itself to the Supreme Court’s decision in the case – the Military Governor of Lagos State Vs Ojukwu. He said the Appeal Court, by its conduct, “embarked on a journey of self-immolation and the Japanese ‘harakiri,” a journey, Justice Nweze described as a sacrilegious judicial exercise of discretion.

He said:  “Indeed, nothing could be a more sacrilegious judicial exercise of discretion than the lower court’s ill-advised embarkation on this ill-fated journey of self-immolation, or what the Japanese call the harakiri, that means suicide, all in an attempt to in an attempt to circumvent the authority of this court.”

Justice Nweze described the decision of the Appeal Court to disregard the established precedent of the Supreme Court as gross insurbordination.

He said, “This court (the Supreme Court) is the highest court in Nigeria; its decisions bind every court, authority or person in Nigeria.

“By the doctrine of stares decisis, the courts below are bound to follow the decision of the Supreme Court. The doctrine is a sine qua non for certainty in the practice and the application of law.

“The refusal therefore, by a judge of the court below to refuse to be bound by this court’s decision is gross insubordination.”

Justice Nweze described the attempt by APC’s lawyer, Hakeem Afolabi (SAN) to distinguish the case from the Supreme Court’s decisions in  Military Governor of Lagos State vs. Ojukwu, and Odogu vs. Odogu, as superficially attractive, but feeble.

He frowned at what he described as APC’s lawyer’s “advocacy style” in the case, and said lawyers must draw a distinction between their role and status as a lawyer, and their political interests.

Lawyer to the appellants, who are loyal to the Senator Magnus Abe camp of the party, Henry Bello said the imperative of the Supreme Court’s judgment was “a warning to politicians to always be obedient to court orders ahead of 2019 elections.”

Alleging exclusion, Ibrahim Umar, David Ndah, Prince Morris, Kudem Bale, Otokim Jack and others had, in May 2018 sued the APC and sought to stop the conduct of congresses of the party in the state.

Upon the plaintiffs’ application, Justice Chiwendu Nwogu of the Port Harcourt Division of the High Court of Rivers State, on May 10, 2011, granted an interlocutory injunction restraining the APC from conducting the congresses.

The party went ahead to conduct the congresses on May 19, 20 and 21.

This prompted Justice Nwogu to nullify the congresses in his ruling of May 30.

Dissatisfied with the May 30 ruling of the High Court, the APC proceeded to the Port Harcourt Division of the Court of Appeal, praying for an order of stay of execution of both the May 11 and May 30 orders of the High Court and an order of stay of proceedings before the said High Court.

The Court of Appeal on June 21, 2018, granted the APC’s request, a development which prompted the plaintiffs in the High Court to appeal to Supreme Court to challenge the order of stay of execution granted by the appeal court.

  • Fayemi will fulfill all electoral promises – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured the people of Ekiti State that Governor Kayode Fayemi will fulfill all promises made during electioneering campaign.

The party hailed Fayemi for what it described as populist and welfarist actions taken in the first week of his inauguration.

Describing Fayemi as a “good and dependable ambassador,” the party urged the people of the state to continue to support Fayemi to bring his blueprint to reality.

The party said Fayemi needs the prayers of Ekiti people to succeed for his administration to take the state to greater heights.

The Ekiti APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ade Ajayi, in a statement on Monday said the governor, in his first week, has taken some actions that showed that he (Fayemi) loved the common man and had the interest of the people at heart.

Ajayi lauded the Town Hall meetings held by Fayemi in all the three senatorial districts in which he has taken government back to the people and gave them a sense of belonging.

The party spokesman described Fayemi as a man of integrity who would keep his words to make life easier for the people of Ekiti State.

Ajayi said: “The governor has announced the cancellation of education development levy imposed on pupils in private and public schools by the past administration, while free education would also return to public primary and secondary schools in the state as against the exorbitant fees under former Governor Ayo Fayose.

“We applaud the governor for the return of the social security scheme that will alleviate the sufferings of our aged people and it is also heartwarming that Ekiti pupils in public schools would be enjoying free meals latest by December.

“Governor Fayemi would accord workers welfare his administration priority; pensioners, local government workers and teachers would not be left out in the scheme of things.

“The governor has expressed his readiness to pay all the backlogs of workers and pensioners salaries and benefits but we plead for patience from our people.”

Ajayi also reiterated Fayemi’s call on all APC candidates for state and federal legislatures to extend hands of fellowship to contestants who lost at the primaries to face the general elections as a united house.

“According to Governor Fayemi, all the State and National Assembly candidates must reconcile with their co-contestants, leaders and members of the party in their units, wards and local government areas to enhance victory at the polls in the forth coming election in the state,” Ajayi said.

The party expressed appreciation to Fayemi in his bid to pay severance and furniture allowances to politicians who served under him, saying they should exercise patience in his bid to make political appointments.

The statement also appealed for calm from party members on the killing of the state Treasurer, Mr. Moses Adeoye, noting that the governor has urged the state police command to bring the killers to justice.

He added that the governor had given his words to take care of the family of the deceased.
