How I plan to transform Agege youths – Egunjobi

An All Progressives Congress (APC) member eying the Chairmanship of Agege Local Government, Lagos, Mr Abdulganiyu Egunjobi, on Saturday said he had plans to build the capacity of youths in Information Communications Technology (ICT) and entrepreneurship.

Egunjobi, according to a statement signed by his Media Consultant, Mr Rotimi Sulyman, unfolded the plan when he undertook a house-to-house campaign in the local government area.

The statement also quoted him as declaring that if he actualized his dream, he would use his salary to improve the lives of children and the youth living in Agege.

“I plan to build an ICT centre to build youth capacity in information technology, and also an entrepreneurial centre,’’ Egunjobi was quoted as saying.

He said as a middle aged man, the welfare of youth would be central in his developmental agenda, which he hoped to execute via innovative schemes.

“If I win, half of my monthly salary for years will be used to support projects that would take most of our youth out of the streets and become better citizens.

“People would agree with me that one of our major problems in this community is youth restiveness and I promise to bring an end to it by creating opportunities for empowerment of individuals in all fields of human endeavour.

“Pledging my salary does not require any political power. It’s a simple thing to do and it will make sure every youth in Agege gets a life,’’ Egunjobi said.

He promised to partner with organisations and professionals within and outside the country in the areas of technical and vocational skills acquisition, sports, music and Nollywood to harness their talents.

“Agege abounds with talents, especially in music, and we need to nurture them. The late Ayinla Omowura aka Egunmogaji, used to be one of us.

“Few years back, hip-hop artiste Tope Adekunle, better known as Small Doctor, was an Okada rider at Pen Cinema and was living here in Pero-Otubu,’’ he said.

According to the politician, Agege will witness its fair share of development to bring positive change in the lives of people if he is given a chance.

The local government election in the state comes up on July 22, while July 29 is for run-off.

  • Osun West by-election: ‘My pedigree will earn me victory’

Osun West by-election: ‘My pedigree will earn me victory’

About 12 days to the Osun West Senatorial bye-Election, the flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Mudashir Husain ‎has expressed strong conviction that his pedigree would earn him victory in the July 8 poll.

Hussein said his political antecedents, pedigree and wide experience were enough to floor his opponent, Dr. Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democracy Party, who is the younger brother of the late occupier of that seat, Senator Isiaka Adeleke.

Hussain, in a statement by his Media Aide, Kamil Opeyemi, was quoted as speaking on a current affairs program on Rave FM in Osogbo on Monday. He described his opponent as an inexperienced politician whose campaign “is just based on leveraging on the antecedents of a brother.”

The Ejigbo born politician stated that the PDP candidate is just a political follower who is not fully bred to take up the challenges of an office like that of a Senator.

According to him “Even when his late brother, Sen Isiaka Adeleke was alive, I defeated him in 2007 but was rigged out. I defeated him with a huge margin in 2011 when he congratulated me with a written letter which I have with me.

“You see, political positions are not birthrights (Oye-Idile) of anyone as we say in Yorubaland. It is a contest of ideas and not leveraging on a family member’s political history. I stepped down from the position to contest my second term to work for Adeleke even though I did not reject the wish of my party.

He added “As a loyal party man, I supported Adeleke’s course and dropped my ambition and when I was called again to serve in the election, I accepted. What happened to Sen Isiaka Adeleke was something all of us were bitter about but it was from God who we could not question.”

On his chances of victory at the by-election, he explained that “I know that Ede zone is his stronghold. In Ede South, I will win convincingly there while in Ede North where Ademola Adeleke comes from, we will share the votes. In all other areas, I’ll floor him and be victorious at the end.”

Sen Hussein maintained that his achievements in his first sojourn in the Senate are visible and enough to return him back to the National Assembly.

The APC candidate said he is aware of the many lies being cooked up by the PDP over his candidature, noting however that his consolation is that this was the same strategy that led to the party’s defeat both in 2014 and 2015 elections.

He said he is proud of the achievements of the Aregbesola administration in Osun adding that his ambition to return to the Senate is to enhance quality of governance.

‘PDP remains dangerous to Nigeria’s future’

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Osun West senatorial by-election, Senator Mudasiru Hussain, on Sunday enjoined Muslims across Nigeria and particularly in Osun to pray for the peace of the nation and be confident that the APC government has what it takes to take Nigeria to the promised land.

Hussain, in an Eid-il-Fitr Message released Sunday morning, said nothing exalts a nation better than the readiness of the citizens to sacrifice for the future of the country.

The senatorial by-election candidate of the APC, in the statement signed by his Media Aide, Opeyemi Kamil Ayelabowo, urged Nigerians, particularly Muslims, to remember the sacrifice of the last one month and the rewards that lay ahead after the period of self-denial.

“We are all rejoicing after the end of Ramadan. We have all spent one full month in sacrifice and were ready to let go many things we would have desired all in obedience to Allah’s injunctions.

“If we therefore extend this to our national life, it is certain that our nation is on its path to recovering its glory.”

Calling on residents of the Osun West district to continue to reject politicians he accused selfishness and lack of clear programs for the citizens, Hussain said the APC has shown at whatever level it is in charge that Nigerians can only entrust their future in the hands of the Peoples Democratic Party at the risk of immediate and future of the common wealth.

“The case of Osun is enough reason for us to be confident that there is no alternative to the APC in terms of good governance. The PDP misruled Nigeria for 16 years at the centre and the destruction is what we are battling with now. Anywhere PDP shows its face, it is to the detriment of Nigerians and the case of Osun West is no different.

“This is why we call on our people in Osun to show once again that the PDP is a rejected party,” the statement noted.

‘I’ll defeat Adeleke’s brother to Senate’

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the July 8 Osun West senatorial district by-election, Mudashir Hussein, has said he will defeat his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rival, Ademola Adeleke.

Hussein was reacting to alleged “gang-up” by other contenders.

He said the electorate would decide who they wanted as their representative in the Senate.

According to him, his achievements and antecedents would speak for him.

Hussein said: “I am hearing for the first time that they are teaming up against me. It’s okay. We shall meet on the field. I am running on records and my achievements. My antecedents will speak volume.

“When the late Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke was a serving senator on PDP platform, I defeated him as a sitting senator in Osun West District. I believe in God.

“Their party thrives on poll-rigging and manipulation, but we believe in one man, one vote. Let them gang up. We shall meet on the field.”

  • Fayose’s aide warns Ekiti CNPP against blackmail

Fayose’s aide warns Ekiti CNPP against blackmail

The personal assistant to Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State on General Administration and Stomach Infrastructure, Mr. Sunshine Anifowose has described the media report authored by the Chairman of the State Chapter of the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), Mr Tunde Ogunlola that himself and seven other aides and associates of his boss are security threat, as unfounded, baseless and unsubstantiated.

In a statement personally signed by Anifowose and given to our correspondent in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, he alleged that Ogunlola was instigated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to issue the statement just to rubbish the recent statement credited to the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of South West, Mr. Foluso Adebanjo that Ekiti State has the lowest crime rate in Nigeria.

Anifowose who described himself as a responsible man from a reputable family, said unlike Ekiti under the immediate past Governor, Kayode Fayemi that witnessed about ten political killings and violence, the state under his boss, Fayose, has been very peaceful and orderly, just as recently posited by the Nigeria Police.

The statement reads: “Acting the already prepared script of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, one Mr. Tunde Ogunlola, who claimed to be the Chairman of the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) in Ekiti State, on Saturday the 9th of June, 2016, in a petition dispatched to the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Idris Ibrahim and the Director General of the Directorate of State Services, DSS, Alhaji Lawal Daura, described my humble self, Sunshine Anifowose and seven other aides and associates of the Governor as threat to the security of our dear State.

“As long as i would have loved to ignore this imaginary tale, however, the concerns so far shown by my friends and family members’ within and outside the shore of Nigeria necessitated this rebuttal.

“I want to say explicitly for posterity, that firstly, this accusation against my esteemed person is an outstanding lie from the pit of hell. This is an attempt to tarnish my irrefutable integrity. Let me say for the sake of emphasis that i am a responsible man from a reputable family.

“I am known for zero tolerance for gangsterism, hooliganism and violence. I have never been arrested by nor detained by or at any police formation in the country neither have i ever been charged to any court for any crime or been remanded in any prison custody within or outside Nigeria.

“I want to put it to Mr. Tunde Ogunlola and his paymasters that their latest petition is a satanic attempt to rubbish the statement credited to the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of South West, Mr. Foluso Adebanjo on June 1st  2016 as published by virtually all Newspapers in Nigeria that Ekiti State, under the leadership of my boss, Dr. Peter Ayo Fayose, has the lowest crime rate in Nigeria.

“I say without gainsay that we in the Fayose’s political camp align ourselves with the position of DIG Adebanjo on the state of security in Ekiti State. It is on record that ever since Fayose became Governor 30 months ago; our state has not witnessed any political killing neither has any opposition gladiator or member been attacked, assaulted or molested by any agent of the incumbent for political reason.

“Also, compared to other states of the federation, our state has the lowest cases of armed robbery and kidnapping in Nigeria. Also, violent demonstrations and communal clash are not synonymous to our state.

“I therefore advice the police and DSS to place APC leaders, especially, Tunde Ogunlola, the state publicity secretary of the party, Taiwo Olatunbosun and their cronies in Ekiti on security watch because from our past experience, their modus operandi is that they always accuse people of whatever evil plans they plan to perpetrate.

“I reiterate the fact that Gov. Fayose is the father of all in Ekiti at the moment. He respects the Elders, the traditional institutions and the rights of the people to associate. When Fayemi was to be made Minister, Fayose called on Senators from Ekiti State to ensure that he’s cleared without any hindrance.”

Anifowose said that despite the barrage of insults being passed against Fayose daily on Social Media, Newspapers, TV and Radio by some APC Governorship Aspirants and their supporters, the Governor has refused to be provoked.

The Governor’s aide stated that opposition members have been coming to Ado-Ekiti, the state capital to hold rallies even against the electoral law without being attacked.

    • Becomes party’s sole aspirant for primary poll

Younger brother to late Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, Ademola, is the sole aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary poll for Osun West Senatorial District July 8 bye election holding today at Iwo City Stadium, headquarters of Iwo Local Government.

Two contestants for the seat on the platform of the PDP, former Minister of the Youth Development, Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi, and a retired Colonel of the Nigerian Army, Olayiwola Falabi, earlier cleared for the primary last night stepped down for Ademola Adeleke after he had shown intention to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Until Monday, Adeleke was sole aspirant of the APC until his co-contestant, Mudashiru Hussain, disqualified by the party’s screening committee and the Appeal Committee was cleared by the national working committee of the APC.

It was gathered that Adeleke wrote a letter to the APC to withdraw from the race on the platform of the party, therefore leaving Hussain as the party’s sole aspirant in today’s primary holding on the outskirts of Osogbo at Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State.

Global analyst rejects eviction of Ndigbo from North

Global affairs analyst and All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief, Ayoola Lawal in a conversation with pressmen in Copenhagen, Denmark, has vehemently condemned the statement credited to the group named Coalition of Northern Youths “Ordering Igbo people to vacate Northern Nigeria within 3 months”.

According to Lawal, issuing of threat statement to a certain tribe and ethnic group to vacate a region of the country is a threat to the unity of Nigeria.

“IPOB group might be agitating for freedom of self-governance but they never issue a threat to any tribe to vacate their region.

It is strange that the security operatives that arrested Nnamdi Kanu immediately he entered Nigeria are yet to call this group or leader for clarification on such statement credited to the group. I think we have passed the era when freedom of speech does not presume rationality and a restrained speech by a certain group of people.

“The unity of Nigeria is already threatened by the current voices from different ethnic groups that constitute Nigeria and history might not forgive our leaders and elders if this is not resolved peacefully before history repeats itself, he observed.

The APC Chief further said that the time to urgently revisit the togetherness and restructure Nigeria’ unity without violence might be now.

“We are sitting on a keg of gunpowder if we allow the same agitation from different ethnic groups to fester for too long without resolving it once and for all,” he said.
