  • APC Scandinavia extols Tinubu at 67

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Scandinavian chapter, Ayoola Lawal has joined the thousands of Nigerian business and political class to felicitates with the National Chairman of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the patriotic leader clocks 67.

Ayoola in his birthday wishes to the Icon of Nigeria’s politics, Ayoola, acknowledged the efforts of Tinubu to keep Nigeria and the people together, noting that he is worthy of emulation in all aspects of life.

President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode and many more graced the occasion in Lagos.

According to Ayoola, no Nigeria or Lagosian will definitely be short of something positive to say when it comes to Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He said, “Tinubu can be best described as a visionary economic and political leader. An authentic leader that helps disbelievers and weak minded to embrace the vision, hopeless to develop faith and powerless to overcome weakness”.

“A leader per-excellent, one that his contribution to the advancement and development of Lagos and modern Nigeria democracy can never be over-praised”.

“He is a living legend and a dogged patriot. He is never a complainer of “victimitis excusitis” virus, a victim but he gets this done. The virtue that Nigerians especially the younger generations critically need to move Nigeria forward in rebuilding the nation of their dream”.

“I will always repeat the fact and history will ever back me up that “If not for the strong conviction and doggedness of Asiwaju Tinubu that ousted the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from power after 16 years of misrule and clueless leadership, Nigeria could have been history in the league of hopeful nations”.

“We celebrate your virtuoso, exceptional visionary and inclusiveness style of leadership and, your standout on this special occasion of your 67 birthday anniversary. Bola Tinubu never mails it in but always bring it on”.

  • Why Nigerians should reelect Buhari, by APC Scandinavia

The All Progressive Congress (APC) Scandinavia chapter has urged Nigerians to re-elect President Muhammadu Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo tomorrow, (Saturday) in order to consolidate on their achievements so far

They also said the reelection of Buhari will ensure the continue diversification of the economy from oil dependent to Agriculture.

In a statement on Thursday, the APC diaspora chairman, Lawal Ayoola, said the last minute call was to remind Nigerians that they cannot afford to return Nigeria back to the corrupt elites and unrepentant looters of the collective wealth of our country again.

He said, “We are not claiming perfection in our APC Buhari led administration over the last 3 and the half years, we can categorically say that President Buhari’s nearly 4 years in office already surpassed uninterrupted 16 years of the PDP in power.

“If we may recall, about 20 states were in the financial comatose state as a result of accumulated unpaid workers` salaries during the PDP era, but the President Buhari led government bailed them out irrespective of party affiliation”.

“Over 58,000 projects including over 300 federal roads across the country that were started but abandoned by the PDP administration and even in those instances where the funds had been paid for from the public treasury to contractors who did nothing,  the Buhari administration priotized them and we can see for ourselves active work going to complete these projects”.

“In the 16 years of PDP led administrations contracts were awarded and re-awarded in such a manner that the project could not fly and impossible to revoke the contracts without government facing the legal battle such as the one Nigeria is facing in the UK”.

“In recent times, a London arbitration Tribunal awarded  $8.9 billion fine against Nigeria in favour of the British firm, Process and Industrial Developments Limited (P&ID)”.

“The company initiated the moves to recover a judgment debt of $6.6 billion in damages plus $2.3 billion in uncollected interest, which was calculated at $1.2 million a day, according to a lead judgement by Lord Hoffman”.

“The Buhari led government has been focused in diversification of our economy from oil dependent to Agriculture as well as the  N-Power programme, blocking of financial leakages across board, ongoing recovering of our stolen wealth, anti-graft war etc”.

“The PDP led administration looted our country dry such that when President Buhari took over the rein of office in 2015 and with the price crash of the country main source of revenue, the crude oil, Nigeria was on her way into recession”.

“The cruel and stupendously corrupt PDP governments were master of padded economy and fake financial publications”.

“Over 16 billion dollars on power improvement and the power distribution companies sold to their friends but nothing to show for it but with less than 4 years of Buhari administration, the improvement is 4 times far better than the PDP 16 wasted years”.

“Apart from the ongoing infrastructural development going on in the East including 2ndNiger Bridge, the much campaign mantra of PDP for several campaign seasons, the immediate payment of pension arrears to all ex-Biafra police officers and N88Billion released for the reconstruction for damages in the south-east shows that Buhari is an authentic leader”.

“The PDP Presidential candidate, Alh Atiku eight years as vice president of Nigeria was best described by his boss, Olusegun Obasanjo”.

“Atiku recent statement of amnesty and tax break for the people that put Nigeria in such a messy situation for 16 years shows that he is just interested in power and not the values Nigeria needs. Nigerians are facing the consequences of what PDP did for the past 16 years. Many untimely deaths due to lack of good roads, hospitals and sound health care, companies closed in record numbers due to lack of electricity and other infrastructures, our public schools and education far below standard now due to their cruel wickedness while their families are living large in and out of Nigeria”.

“We call on all eligible voters to compare the values and antecedents of these two candidates of PDP and APC, we can categorically say that the difference is clear”.

“We can not afford to return the people that blindly and confidently looted our collective wealth and put us through the suffering the nation is going through with no repentant attitude”.

“Please, the future of Nigerians will greatly be affected by our decision on Saturday 16th Feb 2019. Please vote wisely by voting APC across board and President Mohammad Buhari and Osinbajo to continue the great job they already embarked on for Nigeria and Nigerians”.

K1 Fans’ club diaspora urges Nigerians to support local brands

The Coordinator of King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal Fans’ Club worldwide in Scandinavia, Engr. Ali Arakose has called on Nigerians home and Diaspora to be actively involved in promoting and supporting local brands.
Engr. Arakose, who made this call during the K1 Fans’ Club end of the year 2017 get-together at the Radisson hotel in Goteborg, Sweden, urged Nigerians to show support for music artistes anywhere they might be in the world.
The Fans’ Club Coordinator noted that it is a thing of pride that many Nigerian artistes are rocking the world stage in the music industry like King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal and other younger artiste.
He further calls on young Nigerian artistes to take a cue from King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal by intensifying their efforts in using their music in promoting the unity and beauty of Nigeria culture and brands. And the established artiste should also emulate king Marshall in mentoring and supporting upcoming artistes for the greater good of the industry and our country.
The Nigerian government should not relent in supporting our entertainment industry because it is a  great form of revenue generation and tourism for a country if well harness by the appropriate authority/ies.
The Coordinator implores all the K1 Fans’ Club members across the globe and Nigerians, in general, to be politically involved especially the youth because they deserve a better future than they are getting now. He calls for support for all the K1 Fans’ Club members that might be contesting in the next election in Nigeria such as the social entrepreneur and the global affairs analyst, the chairman of APC Scandinavia, Hon Ayoola Lawal. Many irrespective of skin colour and nationality can attest to his integrity, intellectual prowess, patriotism, down to heart nature, the ability to get things done and his selfless contributions to the society.
“He is simply tested and trusted. We are proud to have him not just as an asset member of K1 Fans’ Club Worldwide, but an asset to our continent, Africa and black race in general. We need more of Hon. Ayoola from diaspora at the helm of affairs in Nigeria and Africa leadership.
“One thing is that pedigree speaks as we also relate to King Wasiu Ayinde and K1 Fans’ Club worldwide president, Mr Ajibola Allison,” he said.
Engr. Ali concluded that Nigerians and Africans should celebrate and promote and support the social contribution initiatives of our outstanding artistes when they are alive and not just celebrate them after they are gone.
He wishes Nigeria and the entire world the best of peace in the year 2018.
  • Migration: African leaders charged to lead in action not words

Migration: African leaders charged to lead in action not words

As the world makes the United Nations Migration day, the APC Scandinavia Chairman and a Global Affairs Analyst, Ayoola Lawal calls on African leaders across the continent to provide real and authentic leadership to meet the growing challenges that are leading to the unprecedented ill-fated migration of the African productive population.
Lawal in a media chat with journalists observed that these population are predominately youths that are being exposed to undeserved physical and mental torture that underscores their audacious endeavours.
According to him, it is true that migration has always been an old endeavour and throughout human history, it has been an audacious assertion of the individual’s will to overpower hard times and live an excelling life.
“Thou several reasons such as improved life aspirations, adventure, instability, climate change, and labour market unmet needs are parts of the considerable factors for Migration but in recent times, the leading allure of co-development opportunities and concerted improvement of social and economic conditions of the migrant and his/her destination are hanging in the balance.
“It is the fundamental responsibilities of any government to protect and promote the welfare of their citizens and also provide an enabling environment for them, not just to expand but also transform their creative knowledge and ingenuity to make a decent living and contribute to their part to growth and development of their country.
“It is heart-wrenching and bitterly disappointing that the leaders performing their fundamental responsibilities and laying the foundation for sustainable development to mitigate as well as prevent the mass exodus of their country`s productive population in the present and the near future could be counted on fingertips.
“These leaders only lead by words that are not backed my adaptable developmental actions. In most African countries, it is undeniable that the major causes of migration are the lack of basic needs of life, poverty, non-inclusive governance and, lack of conducive environment to develop potentials except for the very strong few in their country of origin.
“It is undeniable that with the recent technological advancement and globalization trend, the probability of ill-fated migration of any citizen of any country with enabling environment and inclusive government is very inconsequential,” he pointed out.
The Global Affairs Analyst, asserted that it will be quite hard for any government to discourage their citizens not to take ill-fated migration when the leaders that claimed to be leading and serving don´t see their citizens as their first priorities and the citizens are stolidly disappointed for they don`t see a better future for themselves in their country of origin because of glaring failure of leadership.
He further suggested that to curb suicidal migration such as the recently exposed Libya slavery or the year 2017 Mediterranean encounter of over 2000 death of migrants and mitigate the recent unforeseeable challenges of migration, the leaders of the ill-fated migrant origins and the international community leaders are the key solutions.
He said: “The ill-fated migrant origin leaders should provide authentic and inclusive governance devoid of tribal and gender sentiments, be creative in creating enabling social, economic and political environment for their citizens and encourage foreign direct investment, take the courage to allow youths to lead both at home and foreign missions as ambassadors while they serve as old hands elder statesmen and not otherwise.
“Similarly, embellish cooperation as well as concerted plans, are needed among the countries and regions of migrants and the destination in international migration.
“Members states of the United Nations should also step up the active catalyst role of dialogue and interaction creation within regions and countries on this pressing issue and further ensure that countries and regions comply to international standard code for migrants treatment. Any country or region that violates should code should be investigated and sanction appropriately.”
  • APC Scandinavia hails Buhari’s anti-corruption Drive

APC Scandinavia hails Buhari’s anti-corruption Drive

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Scandinavia have commended the President Muhammadu Buhari-anti corruption campaign which has exposed several public office holders.

This is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the Chairman, APC Scandinavia, Ayoola Lawal, in which he also commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Department of State Security (DSS) as well as the Ministry of Finance for the whistleblowing policy which has smoked out some of the biggest evil acts of corruption by our so-called leaders and politicians.

According to Lawal in the statement, the huge amounts of money that are being recovered from different parts of the country is disappointing for any developing country like Nigeria.

“Lawmakers ought to have come up with a concrete policy that will strictly convict offenders of public offices and for misappropriation of funds meant for public good. Also, anyone accused of corrupt practice should be made to step aside to allow investigation take place, properly.

“No doubt that this country needs a lot of funding and investment to get it to where citizens desire for it to be, which is for it to favourably compete with western worlds. Sadly, elected and appointed opportunists have decided to fend for selfish selves at the expense of the general population.

“It is rather unfortunate that such a potentially great nation like Nigeria has been left at the mercy of clueless, wicked and heartless individuals who care less about the suffering of the masses whose taxes they feed on and greedily syphon.

“It is no more news that so many brave, intelligent and industrious men and women in Nigeria have been wallowing in abject poverty due to lack of employment, underemployment and or poor infrastructures that could enable entrepreneurial initiatives.

“Now that the battle against corruption is real and ongoing, it is a call on the judiciary and the lawmakers to live up to the expectations of Nigerians by giving the appropriate support to the war against corruption declared by the Buhari-led administration.

“The sentiments of affected colleagues should not stop lawmakers and members of the judiciary from dispensing fair judgments when the need be,” he said.

The APC Scandinavia leader further urged Nigerians to support the fight by patiently following the revelations and exposing those that they know are part of the misappropriation of public funds or abuse of office.

“Let the whistleblowing continue,” he said.

Tinubu at 65, a leader per excellence – APC Scandinavia

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Scandinavian chapter, on Wednesday felicitates with the National Chairman of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on his 65th birthday.

To show his national leadership, Tinubu on Tuesday held the annual one-day colloquium in Lagos State with focus on the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit in Nigeria.

It is themed: “Let’s make what we use and use what we make.”

According to the Chairman, APC Scandinavia, Ayoola Lawal, Tinubu is a leader per excellent, one that has contributed immensely to Nigerian democracy, “Nigerians should appreciate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for his sacrificial leadership.

“Words cannot sufficiently describe what amount of blessing Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is to this generation, at this time and period.

“Of a truth, Nigeria needs more leaders like him who can dedicate their everything to national good rather than for selfish interests.

“It is sad how some supposed leaders pile up billions of citizens hard earned currency only for themselves and family, while others wallow in abject poverty.

“If not for the strong political conviction of Asiwaju Tinubu that ousted the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from power after 16 years of selfish leadership, only God knows what fate would have befallen the country by now.

“We celebrate your doggedness, selflessness and kind heart on this occasion of your 65 birthday and; pray that we see more of you in good health,” Lawal said.

Join politics: Lawal commends Adeboye for advising Christians

The announcement of the retirement of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye on Saturday further depicts that he is an inspirational leader, said Ayoola Lawal, Chairman All Progressives Congress (APC), Scandinavia Chapter.

Elated Lawal commended the respected Pastor, being the first of all the mainstream church leaders in Nigeria to openly comply with the new law promulgated by the Financial Regulation Commission, FRC.

According to the APC Scandinavia Chief, this reflects his value and uniqueness as a leader.

“I was very pleased and inspired when I read a statement credited to him calling on all his followers and the members of RCCG to go and register in a political party of their choice for them to be active influencers in the electoral process right from the ward level.

“I pray all other mainstream church leaders will follow suit by calling on all their church members and followers across the globe to join a political party of their choice and be actively involved also.

“Since these leaders influence millions of minds across the global, their pronouncement, I believe will make a huge difference in the number of Nigerians that will show interest in politics both at home and diaspora and this will be a positive development for the political institution of Nigeria.

“In the nearest future, this will apparently translate to a more robust political development for our nation in which ideas and patriotism will be the hallmark of Nigerian political institution and not just money and political godfatherism,” he said.

Journey so far: Buhari’s successes, failures, challenges, projections

    • Keynote address at the First Year Branch Anniversary – Commemoration with Symposium of APC UK BEDFORDSHIRE BRANCH, Luton.

On behalf of all members of party in APC UK chapter, I bring you fraternal greetings and congratulate you on this occasion of your branch first year anniversary.
When we came here last year on 9th May 2015 for the inauguration of your branch, I commended your very well organised programme as the best we had seen since branches started opening up across the UK. Well done for keeping up with your tradition of excellence in your branch activities.
The APC led Federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, came into office with the message of “CHANGE” campaign. And the three cardinal points of President Buahri’s campaign promises were hinged on:
    Buhari promised to fight corruption
    Buhari promised to tackle insecurity
    Buhari promised to create jobs.
The President took a pragmatic and distilled view of the APC manifesto of “A new party for a New Nigeria”. He decided to take a focussed approach on those issues he considered the main stumbling block to Nigeria’s liberation and/or emergence into a peaceful, prosperous and stable country. This shows that he had given great thoughts to his Presidential ambition and what he would like to be remembered for as President of Nigeria.

    The fight against corruption:
“Corruption is a disease, a cancer that eats into the cultural, political and economic fabric of society, and destroys the functioning of vital organ” (Inge Amundsen, 1999). I am going to review this subject along two broad lines, namely financial and political corruption.

    Financial Corruption
No doubt, tremendous progress has been made in re-energizing and repositioning the national anti-corruption organisations, such as the EFCC and ICPC, such that, not just newspaper stories, but rather numerous convictions and asset recovery is taking place regularly. Indeed cash recovered in all currencies within the last one year as declared by President Buhari, is well over half the national budget for this year. This is commendable and should give us hope that at last Nigeria is beginning to set out on a journey of creating an environment that is conducive for business – because wherever financial corruption thrives, businesses cannot thrive because of the stifling nature of activities such as bribe taking which inevitably slows down the processing of payments and reduced profit margins for business people.
The successes so far recorded in the area of the anti-corruption war in financial dealings seems limited to the national government agencies at the moment. It is now time for systems to be devised to tackle this scourge at the state and local government levels where it appears the stink of financial sleaze is suspected to be even more prevalent with state governors literally behaving like overlords and the local government leadership only appearing in offices to collect and share monthly allocations. It means therefore, that the anti-corruption bodies need new thinking in spreading its intelligence gathering tentacles across all sections of government.
It is time to move beyond waiting for petitions to be sent before investigation commences. There has to be a proactive mechanism independently driven by organisations such as the EFCC through the deployment of both technology as well as specially trained “invisible” Marshals who live their lives doing other things but who work as financial intelligence officers to snoop around and help with information gathering on the financial behaviors at all levels of government across the country; all year round. This is the innovation I suggest is needed to fully ensure that the present anti-corruption programme not only succeeds but outlive the Buhari Presidency and become a way of life in Nigeria.

    Political Corruption
“Political corruption takes place at the high levels of the political system. Political corruption is when political decision-makers use the political power they are armed with, to sustain their power, status and wealth. Thus, political corruption can be distinguished from bureaucratic corruption, which is corruption in the public administration, at the implementation end of politics” ((Inge Amundsen, 1999).
You will immediately realise that political corruption is actually the foundation for financial corruption and indeed maybe worse than financial corruption. In my mind this behemoth encompasses such behaviours as nepotism, ethnic and religious exclusivity and elevation of members of a particular group over and beyond all others in the belief that they are the only ones that can be trusted. This is an area, that I am uncertain the government of President Buhari has  come to grips with; what with the reported cases of secret employment of children, relatives and connected individuals in several government parastatals without reference to laid down guidelines and moreover at a time when a large army of unemployed Nigerians roam the streets.
It is my view that the government cannot afford to keep quiet or turn a blind eye on such behaviours with all the attendant potential it carries for continued institutional decay/degeneration.
The priority of government should be about how to actively promote those behaviours that will encourage state institutional regeneration and renewal, and there is an element of urgency in this regard to win public trust and support for the war against corruption.

    The fight against insecurity:
Prior to President Buhari being sworn in May 2015, Nigeria faced the grave danger of being overrun by Boko Haram. Boko Haram was gaining territory on a daily basis in the North east of Nigeria.
The Nigerian armed forces did not seem to have an answer to the rampaging advance of the terrorist.
Now we know why! We now know that the military was grossly under resourced.  Although some of the soldiers were crying out at the time that they were being sent to the battle front with bare hands to fight against an enemy that was well armed; and in addition with an enemy that seems to know the Nigerian military’s every tactical plan and movement.
We now know that at the highest level of the military, monies meant for the purchase of military hardware and for the welfare of the soldiers were systematically pillaged by the military and security leadership. Perhaps, if no other event manifests, the utter heartlessness of the last government, this did. Some of the soldiers who complained were assembled, court marshalled and some sentenced to death, whilst others were given jail sentences. How could this have happened to our proud armed forces who have in time past demonstrated leadership in numerous conflict zones in Africa and beyond.
Now the story has changed. True to his campaign promise, President Buhari has mobilised national and international resources to take the battle to the door steps of Boko Haram and the terrorist group has been broken, degraded and peace is gradually returning to the North East of Nigeria.
On this score I will award the President and his government a pass with distinction!
A new threat has however returned to the country, with restiveness and armed militancy returning to the Niger Delta! A new militant organisation – Niger Delta Avenger (NDA), that seem to be only interested in; and indeed determined to maintain the now apparent old order of “let me just chop oil money – because na we get am” mentality has emerged. They are blowing up pipelines and oil production facilities, leading to massive drop in oil production as well as power generation.
The NDA seems to not care that for six years a son of soil occupied Aso Rock and all he achieved was to open the national coffers and  poured our commonwealth into the banks of a few – No development came to the communities of the Niger Delta, even already approved federal projects in the region were not executed, a new form of internal colonisation rose within the region, with one ethnic group seeming to take on the new role of regional overlords and in the midst of all the poverty, a new cream of super-rich emerged at the expense of the Niger Delta communities.
The reason for the emergence of the NDA, whilst claiming that their mission is resource control and the continuation of the amnesty programme for militants from the Niger Delta, appears however from recent news report to be that they want all corruption investigations and/or possible charges against their principals dropped! What does this tell of the real purpose of the NDA?
Successes of the APC led government of President Buhari in the N-D.
Since coming into office, the APC government of President Buhari has set out a clear agenda for the Niger Delta; namely the construction of the already approved rail project and road networks linking the Niger Delta to Lagos and other parts of the country – the East West coast road and the coastal Port Harcourt – Calabar Rail Project. And very recently the Federal government launched the most ambitious clean-up project in oil polluted communities of the Niger Delta in line with the UN environmental study and recommendations for the region. This is the first time any government in Nigeria is taking such a gigantic step to restore life back to the destroyed and degraded Niger Delta ecosystem. So again in terms of taking steps to ensure that finally the people of the Niger delta at the community level enjoy the benefits of Oil production in their communities, I give APC government of President Buhari a pass with distinction!

Missing factor in resolving Nigeria security challenges?
To tackle and finally ensure long term sustainable security in Nigeria, not just in the North East or Niger Delta, a more fundamental approach need to be adopted. Here it appears to me, our party and government is failing. For us in the UK we have in the last two years witnessed or are witnessing two referendums
First the Scottish referendum and on 23 June 2016, the EU referendum. What is the significance of these and what lessons do they project to the security challenges Nigeria faces? There is a direct correlation between citizens’ feeling that they have a stake in the governance of their country, thus creating that feeling of ownership and internal security. The Nigerian leadership at both the executive and legislative arms cannot and should not continue to alienate the people they are working so hard to serve.  I am sure there is a justifiable reason why President Buhari does not want to hear anything about the restructuring of the Nigerian state. Justifiably, he seems not pleased with the amount of money that was expended in organising the last National Conference by former President Goodluck Jonathan. And yes, our party, the APC was clear they were not in support of that conference. Yet, it is time for both our party leadership and President Buhari to take a fresh look at the challenging question of Nigeria national restructuring, for the purpose of national security, national reconstruction and the elevation of a sense of new national culture of ownership, devotion and acceptance of our “Nigerianess”.
The nearly three hundred ethnic nationalities that constitute the Nigerian state should be given a chance to actively participate in making a decision on the core issues that involve their commonwealth.
Our party, the APC and President Buhari need to step back and review the present situation. We as a Party in government have a real chance of creating the Nigeria of our dream – a country that values its citizens, not just the rulers; a country that is futuristic in planning, yet delivering maximum benefits of governance to its citizens in the now; a country determined to contribute to world peace and prosperity and a country that is fully running in the steam of truly participatory democracy.
How can this be done? My thoughts:
As a government, I suggest that we do not need another Sovereign national conference. Let there be a distillation of the core issues namely:
    a) Form of government – Parliamentary or Presidential.
    b) Resource control and true federalism – central ownership and sharing of resources as is presently the case vs devolved system that sets percentage contribution to the centre from each state.
    c) Relationship between the states and local government etc.
The federal government should set a timeline to conduct a referendum during which she will sensitise, educate and mobilise the people on the issues outlined above or more. And at the chosen date the Nigerian people should be called out to vote in a referendum on these issues. The National Orientation Agency (NOA) is already in existence and can lead on this campaign and sensitisation programme whilst INEC conducts the voting aspect.
The outcome becomes binding on all and the Nigerian constitution amended by the national assembly to reflect the new status. I believe that with this approach, the unending cry of marginalisation, resource control and question of the form of government will be settled by the people and therefore become the new order.

    The fight against unemployment:
Nigeria like all other countries classed either as poor or developing economies have a relatively young population demographic. This by itself should be a huge advantage, except that it also means that millions of young people are out of work
The APC federal government under the leadership of President Buhari took off very slowly, with operators of government levers not installed months after the President took office and indeed many still not in place into the second year in the life of this government.
This scenario coupled with the revelations of Budget padding has meant that whatever promise was made in regard of this subject is only just beginning to take off. The new national initiative on job creation; the Npower project, has now been launched – 500,000 graduate and non-graduate jobs will be created across several sectors. This is a massive step in dealing finally with backlog of millions of young people who have been in the unemployment market for years. Other sectors, for example the Police force is also in the process of recruiting.
What now needs to be done is stepping up the drive to encourage private sector growth for job creation. I am confident that APC government of President Buhari will surpass expectation in this regard, now that the process has finally started and lessons must have been learnt from the botched and delayed implementation of this year’s budget.
I believe that the Diaspora Nigerian population have real opportunity to contribute to national development through job creation. We in the UK in partnership with other national bodies and associations in Europe and elsewhere are already actively engaged in the process of mobilising towards Diaspora group participation in project development.
We are confident that this government will not fail, though the present situation appears absolutely depressing because of the numerous challenges being faced in the effort to recover the national drive and focus for development.
Like all Nigerians we are anxious that the process moves faster especially knowing that ours is a government that is driven by the party’s ideology of Social democracy and welfarism. We align ourselves with the people of Nigeria and call on our party’s leadership and government to continue to strive hard to ensure that the problems of poor or lack of electricity and food provision be urgently tackled.
Perhaps a short term solution to the increased cost of agricultural produce is a consideration of allowing for private imports of essential products such as tomatoes etc.
