APC under Tinubu will give us Anioma state – Senator Nwoko

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has expressed confidence that the federal government and the All Progressives Congress (APC), under President Bola Tinubu, will create Anioma State.

Nwoko made the statement over the weekend in Delta State during a visit by the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. He emphasized that the Tinubu-led administration is committed to addressing the regional imbalance by establishing Anioma State, which would promote development in the region.

In a statement released to our correspondent in Lafia, Michael Ogar, the senator’s media consultant, quoted Nwoko as describing Ganduje’s visit as a significant step toward achieving fairness and regional balance in Nigeria.

“This is the clearest signal that the dream of Anioma State is not only alive but is now anchored at the very heart of national policymaking. Our people deserve inclusion, and this is the pathway to lasting justice and balance in the Nigerian federation” The statement reads

The event, which marked the formal reception of members of the Delta Unity Group from Ika Federal Constituency into the APC, was attended by notable APC chieftains from Delta and Edo States. Among them was Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko, Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, who played a prominent role at the event and described the occasion as “a defining moment for Delta politics and for the Anioma people.”

Addressing the enthusiastic APC supporters, stakeholders and other interest groups, National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Dr. Ganduje said the agitation for the creation of Animals state was a done deal.

Making the historic declaration, Ganduje stated unequivocally that “the creation of Anioma State is a done deal.”

The APC National Chairman affirmed that the rulling party is fully aligned with the long-standing aspiration for Anioma State and assured the gathering of the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC governors, the National Assembly, and the wider leadership of the party.

“The creation of Anioma State is not just an aspiration, it is a commitment that reflects equity, justice, and the unity of our nation,” Ganduje stated.

2027: Nwoko advises Oborevwori to shelve defection plans to APC

Delta North Senator, Ned Nwoko, has advised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to shelve defection plans to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that the ruling party does not need him.

Nwoko stated this at Agbor, Delta State, when members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the Delta Unity Group (DUG) in Ika Federal Constituency officially defected to the APC.

He expressed confidence that the Delta APC would defeat the governor and his party in the 2027 general elections.

The gathering, attended by APC bigwigs, including Chairman Alhaji Umar Ganduje, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, marked a boost for the party’s strength in the state.

Notably, there have been rumours of Governor Oborevwori’s intention to join the APC in the past few months, but his Aides have consistently denied them.

According to Senator Nwoko, “Oborevwori wants to come to APC, but tell him to stay where he is. He will be defeated. We don’t want him in the APC.”

Nwoko’s assertion was made against the backdrop of President Tinubu’s purported interest in winning Delta State come 2027.

According to Nwoko, while this might be the reason behind the governor’s desire to join the APC, the party does not need his membership to win Delta State.

Nwoko expressed unwavering confidence in the APC’s prospects in Delta State, assuring the crowd that the next governor of Delta State will emerge from the party, considering the party’s growing appeal due to the PDP’s 25 years of corrupt governance.

“Delta will surely become an APC state come 2027. Twenty-five years of corrupt governance by the PDP in the state is enough. We must take over. The time has come for that to happen,” he added.

He emphasised that the APC is poised to deliver better governance and that the party’s growing strength and momentum will ensure its victory in 2027.

“Don’t let anyone doubt who you are. The next governor will be formed by you. As you go home, tell them that the next governor of Delta State will be formed by the APC. Today, we are emboldened and happy that a large political group like the DUG is following in my footsteps in joining the APC,” Nwoko said.

Senator Ned Nwoko’s stance on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s potential defection to the APC aligns with that of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

According to Omo-Agege, the APC is open to welcoming new members from the PDP, but Oborevwori and his predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, were not welcome.

Omo-Agege expressed confidence that the APC’s growing strength, bolstered by the defection of over 60% of PDP members since 2023, positions the party to deliver Delta State for President Ahmed Tinubu and sweep the 2027 elections, retaining all Senate seats and winning the House of Representatives and House of Assembly seats.

We will dislodge Soludo, APC chieftain Obidike vows

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Chukwuebuka Obidike said his party has commenced the process to unseat Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the November 8, 2025, gubernatorial election.

Reacting to the recently concluded APC gubernatorial primary election and the readiness of the party to win the guber election, Obidike said with the victory of Prince Ukachukwu, APC is better positioned to win the incumbent Governor whose performance he said has been very abysmal.

He stated his party’s confidence in unseating Soludo stems from the Governor’s perceived inability to effectively govern the state despite the improved revenue made possible by President Bola Tinubu administration.

According to Obidike, the people are with the APC due to Soludo’s failure to protect lives and properties, a major reason the party believes it will defeat him.

He said that under Soludo, Anambra, which is popularly known for its vibrant commercial activities and entrepreneurship has become the ghost of itself as a result of deteriorating security architecture occasioned by bad governance of Chukwuma Soludo.

He said that in 2021, Anambra voters trusted Soludo due to his profile and African-Dubai campaign mantra but under his watch, the state has taken many steps backward due to Governor’s inability to deliver on its promises, alleging even the Governor could not hold his daughter’s wedding in Anambra State due to insecurity.

He said the  party has commenced the plans to remove the Governor and add Anambra as the third State within the APC fold in the Southeast, adding that it is time for Anambra to join mainstream politics.

Alleging Soludo is trying to negotiate his way for a smooth victory by seeking the support of the presidency, Obidike recalled the Governor supported Atiku Abubakar in 2023, who he considers as his political mentor, having worked with him under former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He appealed to President Bola Tinubu to pay deaf ears to Soludo, who he alleged is plotting for national politics in 2027 against the President.

Obidike added that based on the overwhelming performance of Tinubu, the victory of APC in Anambra will be landslide, noting that the party has already perfected it’s plans for a smooth victory.

Benue APC chair alleges assassination attempt on party’s legal adviser in Abuja

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Chief Benjamin Omale, has alleged that the recent attack on the party’s State Legal Adviser, Barr. Terhemen Ngbea, in Abuja was a calculated attempt to kidnap or assassinate him.

Speaking to journalists at the Benue APC Secretariat in Makurdi on Sunday, Omale dismissed the notion that the incident was a random act of violence.

“We have reason to believe this was a targeted attack, aimed at either kidnapping or eliminating him due to the critical role he plays at the Benue Local Government Elections Petition Tribunal currently sitting in Abuja,” he said.

He confirmed that the matter has been reported to security agencies, and the party is cooperating fully with ongoing investigations.

It was gathered that unknown gunmen had trailed Ngbea to a car park in the Central Area of Abuja, where they attacked his vehicle and forcibly opened its door in what appeared to be a coordinated assault.

Ngbea escaped with inflicted injuries, but his vehicle was vandalized, his new laptop, and some documents were carted away.

The Benue APC chairman said the party was disturbed over the attack on the Legal Adviser because he was in Abuja coordinating legal matters at the Local Government Election Tribunal, which was moved from Makurdi to the Federal Capital Territory.

He, however, said Ngbea is in a steady condition after the attack and hope to continue his duty at the Tribunal.

  • APC more troubled than leaders admit

APC more troubled than leaders admit

Judging from media reports, too many Nigerians are obsessed with the demons troubling both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) to care what is happening elsewhere in the polity. The main reason is not far-fetched. Both parties are immersed in intractable civil war, and have managed by dint of their incompetent leadership to project their griefs and tardiness on public consciousness. Voters take note, and are entertained by the buffooneries which quarrelsome PDP and LP leaders play. There is of course the unpretentious sidekick, the Social Democratic Party (SDP), sometimes half-wake, but often sleepwalking through Nigeria’s electioneering epochs. It does crazy things to be noticed, and like the LP has offered its bed to all kinds of pimps and whores. And so, consumed by these avoidable distractions, potential voters do not notice that hard talking and deep swearing opposition leaders are casting a sheep’s eye at the APC.

No one can accurately predict how long the buffooneries in the main opposition parties will last. The PDP is rent in two, each side digging its heels in, resolute against any kind of reconciliation. All the party’s governors are not on one page, and the ones who might wish to take a shot at the presidency are too irredentist and ethnically fanatical to be of any use to the party or the country. Its political leaders, whether previous or new presidential aspirants, lack the political and diplomatic pizzazz to drive the party in the right direction or help foster peace and amity. The party pretends to some kind of conservatism, but at bottom, and particularly for its leaders, most of whom are either mercantilists or opportunists, ideology is an inconvenient abstraction. They are desperate to unite in the face of the existential threats the APC constitutes, but they lack the wherewithal to enforce administrative discipline within their ranks. In fact they seem to now wish for a celestial intervention to help them resolve their longstanding logjam, or at least conjure a deus ex machina to whip everybody into line. But given the intractability of their fight, they seem absolutely ill-suited to cutting corners. Instead of wishing the implosion of the ruling APC, they will have to sweat out a consensus or carefully and tediously rebuild their party, a prospect and hard undertaking that unfortunately seems repugnant to their casual approach to politics.

As expected, and partly because it has nothing to boast about, the LP has concerned itself more with disparaging the APC than mending its own cavalier politics. It is more disunited than the PDP, has no known ideology to anchor its soul, and possesses no skills except perhaps the eclecticism of their former presidential candidate, the overrated Peter Obi. Constantly wrong-footed by two intransigent factions, party leaders, including the parent Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), have switched between strong-arm tactics one day, and half-hearted conciliation the next day. Neither tactics has worked. Deflated and exasperated, they have allowed themselves to embrace solutions completely alien to the nation’s laws or even their own ground rules. Like their opposition cousins in the PDP, they have reduced their initiative to hoping that the APC would implode sooner than later, at least before the next round of electioneering. But that next round is already here, and the opposition parties have remained paralysed and flustered by deep mutual loathing and internal dissensions.

Nigerians may be close to writing off the two blundering opposition parties, but they also appear nervous that the APC’s unity and strength may be nothing more than a make-belief. Last week, the country was abuzz with speculations that the seven governors’ courtesy call on former president Muhammadu Buhari at his Kaduna home might not be as altruistic as the visitors themselves painted the occasion. They paid the visit, speculators on social and traditional media said, to prevail on the former president to restrain his fretting associates who once belonged to his legacy Congress of Progressive Change (CPC). The associates, it had been speculated, were on the verge of bolting from the APC, the ruling party having been formed by a merger of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), factions of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). If the CPC faction breaks away, the speculators reasoned and concluded, the APC might be in trouble, especially with the 2027 poll in view.

Characteristically, ex-president Buhari has reportedly remained sanguine about the whole news. As far as he was concerned, he would remain a loyal party man, the APC having given him the opportunity to be elected twice as president. As for the so-called footloose others, he was quoted as saying, they were perfectly within their rights to determine their political future. It is not clear whether that was the answer his visitors wanted; but that would be vintage Buhari. As president, he did nothing to substantially help any faction or presidential aspirant in their bid to become presidential candidate, and did even less to campaign wholeheartedly for that candidate once he emerged. Asking him to prevail on potential defectors at this day and his age is like asking him to foreswear who he really is. He is contented, untroubled by the din around him, and unwilling to take risks he never took as a fledgling young military officer or an ageing and staid elder.

Should the CPC faction bolt from the stable, the APC would of course quake. That quake would be seismic only if those who bolted are significant in status and number. The potential defectors may be disaffected and annoyed, especially as they now watch from the sidelines how technocrats seem to be taking plum appointments, but they are unlikely to be rash in taking a decision as weighty as defecting from certainty to uncertainty. In their calculations, they would want to be sure that their defection would cause an exit avalanche big enough to cause a run on the ruling party. Nothing guarantees that ruinous outcome. If they defect and the ruling party manages to attract a significant number from other parties to fill the void left by the departing CPC members, then the defectors’ goose would be cooked. Nothing is more calamitous to a politician than to be left stranded. The APC probably has its scenarios worked out, and will do everything to keep its aggrieved members. But if the potential defectors stick to their guns, the APC will wield the big stick. It will be a great gamble, but the ruling party seems to know that the alienated CPC men, assuming they are significant in number, may not be as valuable as they have sold themselves in the media.

  • Abia APC stakeholders unite, vow to deliver state for Tinubu in 2027

Abia APC stakeholders unite, vow to deliver state for Tinubu in 2027

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State have pledged to reclaim the state’s political structure and secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

This resolution was reached on Thursday night in Abuja, as all factions of the party in the state came together under one umbrella at the residence of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, with a shared commitment to reposition Abia within mainstream national politics.

Speaking to journalists after the nearly four-hour meeting, Senator Kalu, a former governor of the state, said the gathering was in line with President Tinubu’s directive at the last National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which called for unity and cohesion within the party at all levels ahead of 2027.

Kalu expressed delight over the massive turnout of party leaders from Abia, declaring that the APC in the state now stands as one united, indivisible family, fully prepared to work for the success of the President and the party in the next elections.

He said: “We are more united now than ever because President Tinubu during the last APC NEC meeting gave us directive to go and reconcile members of the party in our States. He knows that we are capable of doing it and we will be very grateful to the people of our constituencies and the masses to join us in uniting the party.

“They stand to benefit more by enjoying the federal might. They can see what is happening in Abia North Senatorial District concerning Federal Government’s interventions and I am very thankful to former President Buhari and the incumbent President Tinubu. This is what the three Senatorial Districts will enjoy when they join the APC,” he said.

On the outcome of the meeting, Kalu said: “The last time I went to see President Tinubu, he was not very happy about the situation in Abia and I gave him my words that we are going to work hard to bring back Abia as a united indivisible entity.

“The president knows that we the leaders of Abia are capable of doing that. We are going to do that and we are calling and promising all the leaders that nobody will be left behind. We are in government and everybody must roll with us because anybody who does might regret his action.

“It is better they identify with the peace initiative and I believe that we will achieve our desire because the most important thing is for the party to be very strong and to speak very loudly during elections. We will be very thankful to the people of Abia for reposing their confidence in us.

“I was a very good governor, they also know that I am a very good senator and that I have never deceived the people of Abia State. I am committed to whatever we want to do and whoever we present as candidate for elections from the House of Assembly to the President, they will know that they will be credible,” he said.

Assuring the people of Abia state and the entire South East geo-political zone of a better deal under President Tinubu, Kalu said, “we have a President that has done first term and will be going for second term. If he is doing second term, Abia needs to also align to the centre because we cannot afford to be speaking differently.

“The consensus of the South East over 2027 is that the zone will do very well in supporting President Tinubu and I challenge them to mark my words. I have been working and I am on ground. Remember when Mr President visited Enugu, I was not there physically but I have his permission to visit all the governors in the South East and beyond and I am doing that.

“We are working and not resting. The President knows that their are few planners behind him and when we plan we execute the plan. The Class of 1999 governors are made up of very tough people and a very good class,” he noted.

APC National Welfare Secretary, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa said that: “The idea of this meeting is to come together for the purpose of redirecting the party and consolidating the gains the party has made in recent time.”

“APC Abia State has the largest influx from other parties in the last two years. We have received over 70 per cent of the former members of the PDP among others and this is the show of their acceptability of APC in Abia State. We have also come today to beg the leaders of the party in the State, starting with the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu who is the number six citizen in the country, the Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and former governor, Orji Kalu, our serving Minister and other critical leaders who most of them are here and others absence due to one reason or the other, to come together, including our immediate past gubernatorial candidate, High Chief Ikechi Emenike.”

“We want to beg all of them to please, in the interest of the generality of the party, bury whatever individual differences, personal idiosyncrasies, and come together to put the party together. On our party, we want to assure them that our support is unshakable, our loyalty to their leadership is unshakable; our determination to capture the government house of Abia State come 2027 is uncompromising.

“We have also come here to condemn any leader, in one way or the other, covert or overt, in tune with the view that we are supporting the incumbent governor to continue in office. We are not saying that he should leave as the present governor but we are saying that come 2027 the governor of Abia State will be a member of APC.

“We will denounce, suspend and take punitive action against any leader who does otherwise. And we are saying that whatever that had happened in the past, today we are forgiving all of them and begging our leaders because APC Abia State has all it takes to win Abia State.

“We have the goodwill of the people and it is in favour of APC in Abia State. We want to assure the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that APC is not going to beg anybody to give him 25 per cent, but we are assuring him that APC will come first in 2027 elections in Abia State and that Abia State APC endorses his continuity as the President of Nigeria for the purpose of actualising those policies, those economic and social reforms that he has started and we are commending the genuieness of his determination to keep Nigeria right, we all praying for him.

“Finally, there is no dispute in APC leadership in Abia State, we have no problem with the party leadership in the state. We also want to commend the National Chairman, in fact, we call him a national chairman with the touch of victory. He has captured more States since he assumed office and Abia APC is going to give him victory come 2027.

“We also want to appreciate the supervisory leader of the South East APC, Governors Hope Uzodinma and his Ebonyi State counterpart, Rt. Hon. Nwifuru for the sound leadership that they have provided in the South East. We also want to commend our son, the Deputy Speaker of Nigeria for his sagacity, charisma and development stride. We also commend our host, the former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for being tolerant and understanding and offering himself to lead us in the battle,” Nwankpa said.

Those in attendance at the stakeholders’ meeting include the host, Senator Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, APC National Welfare Secretary, Donatus Nwankpa, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, and former Commissioner for Finance, Obinna Oriaku.

Others were Ndukwe Adindu, Sam Ikiri, Mike Nwabara, Anyim Nyerere, Nze Esiaga, Chidi Maduekwe, Ndukwe Maxwell, Nnanna Kalu, Emeka Atuma, among many others.

APC Youth Network berates Ndume over comments on Tinubu’s appointments

The APC Youth Network Worldwide has slammed Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South over his recent comments on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing them as reckless, misleading, and unbecoming of a ranking lawmaker.

In a statement released after a high-level strategy meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, the group expressed strong disapproval of Ndume’s claims that the Tinubu government was squandering borrowed funds on frivolities and violating the federal character principle in political appointments.

Coordinator of the group, Abubakar Gidado, dismissed the senator’s assertions as not only baseless but also a deliberate attempt to weaken public trust in the Tinubu-led administration.

“We find Senator Ndume’s comments unfortunate and disgraceful, especially coming from someone who has benefited immensely from the same APC government. His remarks do not reflect the reality of the budgeting framework and reforms introduced by this administration,” Gidado said.

“President Tinubu’s budgeting process has been one of the most transparent and reform-driven systems Nigeria has seen in recent times. From cutting down on waste to prioritising capital projects and reducing recurrent expenditure, the administration has shown a deep commitment to fiscal prudence — something Ndume conveniently ignores in his emotional outbursts.”

The group warned the senator to refrain from making blanket statements without facts, noting that his concerns on federal character lack substance when weighed against actual appointments.

“The president has appointed Nigerians from all regions in strategic positions across federal ministries, agencies and parastatals. If Ndume is still stuck in the past, he should bring himself up to speed with recent developments and stop misleading the public with outdated figures,” Gidado added.

The group further accused the Borno senator of seeking relevance through controversy.

“Ndume should focus more on his legislative duties instead of grandstanding on television. We will not allow political actors to distort the hard work and vision of this administration just to satisfy personal egos or secure media headlines.”

He urged President Tinubu to remain focused and ignore voices that seek to derail the government’s achievements with baseless accusations.

“The youth wing of our party and millions of Nigerians at home and abroad continue to trust in the capacity of this government to deliver on its promises,” Gidado concluded.
