  • Buhari, seven APC Governors meet in Aso Rock

    President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday met behind closed doors with six governors from the north and the Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

    The meeting held shortly after the President returned to Abuja after spending five days in Daura, Katsina State, where he voted in the governorship and state house of assembly elections.

    The governors are members of All Progressives Congress (APC).

    The northern governors at the meeting included Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, Nasir el-Rufai, of Kaduna state, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state, Abdulaziz Yari, Zamfara state, Abubakar Badaru, Jigawa state, and Kassim Shetima of Borno state.

    The meeting was still in progress at the time of filing this report.

     

  • Buhari commiserates with Bagudu over brother’s death

    President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday expressed heartfelt condolences to Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi over the death of his younger brother, Alhaji Farouk Bagudu.

    The President, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu in Abuja, prayed Almighty Allah to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest and comfort all who mourn the deceased.

    President Buhari assured the governor, the Bagudu family and their friends of his personal prayers and thoughts as they mourned the passage of their beloved brother, husband, and father.

    The President further prayed Allah to grant the children and other survivors the fortitude to bear the loss.

    Until his demise, Farouk Bagudu was the Managing Director of Jihab Communication Limited.

  • Kebbi: Bagudu signs 2019 N151bn budget

    kebbi state governor, Atiku Bagudu has signed the 2019 N151 billion appropriation bill into law.

    The governor said N104 billion is for capital projects, and N47billion for personnel and recurrent expenditure represented 70% and 30% of the budget.

    Speaking during the signing of the budget tagged “budget of consolidation”,  disclosed that his administration would be dwelling more on road construction, 40 new nomadic schools,225 primary health care centres across the state.

    “The total budget is N151 billion which is about 400 million dollars. We have N104 billion going for capital projects and N47 billion for personnel and recurrent expenditure “.

    Bagudu also commended the lawmakers for their prompt scrutiny of the budget despite their full engagement in political campaigns, adding that the budget would be properly utilized for infrastructure development in the state.

    He further thanked all stakeholders, especially the secretary to the state government (SSG), Commissioners and all members of his cabinet for supporting his government in achieving success in the Area of Agriculture revolution.

    Earlier, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Development, Alhaji Muhammed Jelani Yauri disclosed that the budget was designed to brighten the future of the state as well tap underdeveloped natural resources in the state.

    The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Alhaji Abudulmumeen Samaila Kamba in his remarks described the budget as the best in the history of the state with a large percentage that goes into the capital projects.

  • Do not sell your votes, Bagudu tells electorate

    Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi has called on the electorate not to sell their permanent voter cards (PVCs) to any politician.

    The governor made the call during the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC ) campaign rally at Maiyama Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.

    Bagudu said the electorate should jealously guard their PVCs against unscrupulous politicians, who go round buying PVCs, especially in rural areas.

    “Chase away any politician who gives out money to collect PVCs for whatever reason.

    “Do not sell your PVC, your PVC is your vote and if you sell your PVC, you sell your conscience and you cannot vote for the candidate of your choice during any election,” he said.

    The governor enjoined the electorate to report any politician who attempted to buy PVCs to the appropriate authorities.

    The governor also commended President Muhammadu Buhari on his economic diversification agenda, adding that it gave opportunity for people in the state to excel in rice production.

    Earlier, the state Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bala Kangiwa, told the mammoth crowd that the campaign would be issue based.

    He said APC would showcase its projects to the people to see in every local government area.

  • Bagudu commends Christians in Kebbi for living in peace

    Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has commended the non-indigenes residing in the state for living in peace and harmony with their host community.

    The Governor made the commendation in a statement signed by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Muazu Dakingari to mark the Christmas celebration.

    He advised all Christians to uphold the teachings and virtues of Christ of humility, compassion and sublimity as well as maintain peaceful co-existence with adherents of other religions.

    He said his administration was committed to uplifting the living condition of the people and providing enabling environment for investment in the economic sector of the state.

    The governor solicited prayers for peace, security and prosperity for the state, the nation, and the citizenry.

    Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu, has presented a budget proposal of N151billion for the 2019 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.
    Presenting the budget, Bagudu said out of the total amount, N104 billion was for capital expenditure while N46 billion was for recurrent expenditure, representing 69 and 30 per cent respectively.
    In  2018, the state government budgeted similar amount for the year.
    The governor, who did not give a sectoral breakdown of the budget, said priority would be accorded to internal revenue generation, education, industrial development, agriculture, health and provision of infrastructure.
    “In the infrastructure, we will give emphasis on the construction of rural roads across the state,” he said.
    He said the 2019 budget would consolidate the gains achieved by the last years budget, especially improvement of infrastructure, power supply and exploitation of mineral resources.
    In his remarks, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kamba, assured that the lawmakers would ensure thorough scrutiny and speedy passage of the budget.
    Kamba, also assured that the assembly would ensure sustained cordial working relationship with the other arms of government in the state.

  • Buhari’s record will give him second term, Says Bagudu

    Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu on Tuesday said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s achievements and what the government have in its Next Level are enough to give him a second term in office.
    According to him, there is no comparison between Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who is the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
    He spoke with State House correspondents after private meeting with the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
    Speaking on the chances of Buhari in the 2019 election following the crowd that attended the PDP rally in Sokoto State, he said “I don’t know what you mean when you said you saw crowd there because many people have different interpretations and like I said, President Buhari is running on his own record.
    “Within the last ten days, the next level agenda was disclosed showing what has been achieved and what the second term will usher in and that I believe has resonated with Nigerians and there is no comparison.” he said
    On the possibility of delivering Kebbi State for Buhari In 2019, he said “We believe that President Muhammadu Buhari is running on his record and Kebbi state is one of those states that is very proud of the policies that had been put in place.
    “It has helped the state to achieve gross output, gross income, better security and more transparency in the management of our revenue.
    “So all the three elements that President Muhammadu Buhari promised in his campaign, we have seen the benefits in Kebbi State.
    “So as a result, we are a welfare and transparent State. The generality of the people of Kebbi State are united under one party and we are determined to lead all other other states to ensure that President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo are re-elected.” he said
    He said that the President has a plan to make Nigerians very happy this festive period.
    He said “Few days ago the President was quoted at a farmers day by the oil company, Agip. I think I read the press statement by Femi Adesina, where President said he is working on with the National Food Security Council on ensuring that that farmers, Fishermen and all those that are in the livestock sector are supported particularly on the devastation caused by the flood so that the festive season will be a better one and they can replant and compensate.
    “Secondly, last year, Mr. President graciously approved an intervention where rice was sold in many markets, Onitsha, Lagos, Abeokuta, Kano for N12,000 and I am confident that the President is looking forward to making Nigerians happy.” he stated
  • Gov. Bagudu approves N400m for indigenous students in tertiary institutions

    Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi has approved over N400 million for the payment of 2017/2018 registration fees for indigenous students of the state in various tertiary institutions across the country.

    The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Alhaji Abubakar Dakingari, made this known on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi.

    Dakingari said that about N111 million would be spent for students in Federal University, Birnin Kebbi for the 2017/2018 session.

    He added that N149 million would also be used for the payment of fees for students in Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, for the  2017/2018 academic year.

    Dakingari said that approval of N107 million was also given for the payment of registration fees for indigenes of the state in Adamu Augie College of Education, Argungu for the same session.

    “While N2.7 million is for our students at the Federal College of Technical Education, Gusau; another N2.5 million will be paid as fees for students in Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara State.

    “A similar gesture of N2.5 million has been offered to students of the state’s origin in College of Education, Minna, Niger State,’’ the governor’s spokesman added.

    He said that N25.7 million would be for those in College of Basic and Advanced Studies, Yauri and N7 million for students in Federal College of Education, Kontagora in Niger.

    According to him, the governor also approved N600, 694 for students in Federal College of Education Zaria, Kaduna State.

  • ‘Buhari deserves a second term’

    Alhaji Bello Dantani, a lawmaker representing Argungu/Augie in Kebbi state at the House of Representatives, says President Muhammadu Buhari deserves a second term following his numerous achievements in office.

    Dantani made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, in Birni-Kebbi, on Friday.

    The lawmaker, who earlier had a closed door meeting with Gov. Atiku Bagudu, said the improved security situation in the state is one of the Buhari’s main achievements in office.

    “I can vividly recall in 2014 when Boko Haram insurgents unleashed mayhem in my constituency in Argungu Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

    “A relative of mine died in the attack, which I had never imagined the security situation then could deteriorate to.

    “The insurgency had spilled off from Borno state to Kebbi state,” Dantani said.

    According to him, the APC- led government has now nipped the security situation in the bud, not only in the state but in many states in the Northern part of the country.

    Dantani refuted allegation from opposition parties that the security situation had not improved in the state in particular and the country in general.

    “Many of us have not forgotten when insurgency attacks reached Kano, Sokoto, Niger states, among others.

    “We don’t have such attacks now. Isn’t that an improvement in the security situation?

    “We should also not be unmindful of the fact that the agricultural revolution of Buhari, has helped our teeming unemployed youths and made our state, a leading rice producer in the country.

    “All these are courtesy of Buhari’s administration,” he said.

    The lawmaker called on people from his constituency, to massively rally round and support APC, in order to move the state and country forward come 2019 general elections.
