Actress Anita Joseph slams critics of Mercy Eke’s ‘hopeful’ second BBNaija win

Actress Anita Joseph-Olagunju has berated individuals opposing Mercy Eke’s ‘second’ emergence as BBNaija winner.

Mercy Eke, after five previous attempts, secured a spot as one of the 26 housemates for the fourth edition of the popular TV show in 2019.

She eventually emerged as the winner, taking home prizes worth N60 million.

Four years later, she received an invitation from Biggie once again, returning with the aim to secure the grand prize of N120 million and make history as the first person to win the show twice.

With the show’s finale just days away, Anita expressed her support for Mercy, one of the six finalists.

She posted a photo of Mercy with the caption: “The topic, Grace Girl @official_mercyeke.”

This post stirred strong reactions online, with some questioning Mercy’s potential victory at the near end of the show.

They argued that the 29-year-old reality TV star should give other housemates a chance to shine.

In response, a furious Anita defended her favourite BBNaija All Stars contestant, asking if it was wrong for her to win again.

She urged viewers to avoid creating unnecessary animosity over a TV show and confidently predicted Mercy’s victory.

The 27-year-old entrepreneur stated this during a Zoom interview in Lagos of how she decided before gracing the BBNaija screen once again to be original, unusual, positive and peaceful.

According to her, she had a feeling that she would be evicted soon.

“My strategy in the Big Brother house was just being myself. I said I was going to be myself and protect my peace.

“This is because I know that Alex is not somebody that people can walk over. So, I was sure that if anybody ever got to a point where they constantly poked me and I have to react, of course, I will.

“I will definitely stand up for myself, this was what I did in the house and that is what I also teach all the young boys and girls that are looking up to me in any school I go to.

“I am like do not let anybody take your silence, peace and positivity for weakness. I am always peaceful and positive,” she said.

“I am proud to realise how much presence my personality carries because before I was like why is it that when I walk into a place everybody always likes to see how to take me out, even if I have not said anything?

“So, now I understand the kind of power I carry, I am proud of it,” she said.

When asked who she is currently rooting for as the winner of the show, she said “I am rooting for either the one with God’s grace or the best game player or the person that they want to win or the person that the people vote for to win”, she said.

  • You must have pitiable story to win BBNaija show, says Tolanibaj

You must have pitiable story to win BBNaija show, says Tolanibaj

Evicted BBNaija All Stars housemate, Tolanibaj, has shared her view on how to emerge the winner of the reality TV show, claiming that one needs to portray a pitiable story.

Tbaj undoubtedly attracted intense ‘hate’ from viewers of the show during her stay in the Big Brother House as a result of ‘marking her territory’ and excessive clutch on Neo, her ‘phantom’ lover.

She literally fought every other female housemate that attempted getting close to her ‘comfort person’ during her stay in the House.

She was eventually evicted from the show on Sunday on August 27 but decided not to grant any interviews like every other housemate usually did.

However, feeling she owed her fans some live updates, TBaj made a video where she addressed the trending narrative about her.

She said: “I decided to drop a video on my channel because I haven’t granted any post eviction interviews. I didn’t feel the need to grant anybody access to me.

“I wanted to be selfish with my time. I did not want to wake up early for anybody, I did not want to do make-up for one week straight.

“I’m also seeing a narrative out there saying, ‘Tolanibaj is embarrassed, that’s why she’s not doing any interview’. You wish! That thing is very smelly to my ears.

“It’s really flattering that a lot of y’all are using Tolanibaj’s name to chase clout. Whatever narrative is out there, whatever you choose to believe, that’s on you.”

TBaj also revealed her aim for appearing on the show, as well as addressing ‘regretful’ occurrences if any.

She said: “Regret is actually a strong word. I don’t regret anything I did on the show. I will just do things differently. I don’t live with regrets.

“Before I got into the house, I was the queen of drags. Did I expect to be liked when I came out? No. The hate was like times ten. The game that I played even backfired gan.

“I did not go there to win the money. From day one when they asked, I just said I was there to have fun.

TBaj also explained the reason she didn’t go on the show with the mentality to win because she wasn’t one to play the pity card.

She noted: “If you want to win the show, you need to have the pity story. This is something I’ve always known but that’s not my character, to want people to pity me.

“Even when I want to cry, I don’t like crying in front of people. I would run to the bathroom or somewhere to cry. I hate when people pity me.”

As for the housemates still on the show, she applauded them for their ruggedity and perseverance in a highly toxic environment.

She noted: “One thing a lot of you guys don’t understand is that House is very toxic. I must commend all the housemates that are still there right now. Everybody wan crase for that house o! That House is tough o! I have to give it to them.”
