  • Why I quit my friendship with Doyin, Ilebaye reveals

Why I quit my friendship with Doyin, Ilebaye reveals

BBNaija All Stars housemate, Ilebaye Odiniya, has opened up on the cold relationship she shares with her friend and fellow housemate, Doyin David.

She said that despite her love for Doyin, she always finds a way to make her feel guilty for a shared misunderstanding.

The ‘GenZ baddie’ stated that her friendship with Doyin needed a break and a breath of fresh air.

She also said she doesn’t want it to seem Doyin is her pillar and can’t do without her.

She said: “I feel like my friendship with Doyin needs a break. I’m not a perfect friend, but I don’t like the fact that Doyin keeps reminding me of how much of a loyal friend she is, it makes me feel guilty always.

“I don’t want it to seem like Doyin is my pillar and I can’t survive on my own. I have been mingling with other housemates lately and it feels good.”

Ilebaye made this known to Big Brother during her Diary Session.

It would be recalled that Doyin and Ilebaye had been best of friends until lately when they went their separate ways.

Doyin had been angry with Ilebaye and decided to call it quits because she believes she didn’t get the kind of absolute loyalty she expected from Ilebaye, having defended her and fought other housemates because of her several times.

Doyin was particularly upset by the way Ilebaye went back to interact with the housemates she had earlier had altercations with because of her.

She mentioned the conversation Ilebaye had had with Venita the very night she had an altercation with her when Ike thrashed her clothes in the toilet.

However, in what seemed like a response to Doyin’s outburst in her recent Diary Session, Ilebaye has given her side of the story, while defending herself.

“The thing with Ike throwing my clothes around the house, and Doyin picked a fight with Venita. I went to Venita to talk to her about reducing the insults she was throwing at Doyin and also not take what Doyin said about her kids to heart, that Doyin didn’t mean it that way.

‘Only for Doyin to question my friendship with her later on, because she saw when I was speaking with Venita on her behalf. it made me feel guilty of having that conversation with Venita, even though I wanted to end the f!ght she was having with Venita.

“But I tried to explain to Doyin that i cannot be having issues with people just because she is not in good terms with them,” Ilebaye maintained.

Ilebaye also said Doyin did not come across as straight in many ways. She cited the issues that had to do with Kiddwaya as well as the Pardon Me Please session, in which she believed Doyin stabbed her in the back.

She said: “I ’ve asked Doyin if she liked Kiddwaya, she said no ,that she does not like or have any feelings for him. But when Doyin found out that Kiddwaya kissed Mercy after the pool party, and that I (ilebaye) knew about it. Doyin got upset with me and said I wasn’t a good friend.

“But me on the other hand I didn’t feel it was necessary telling her since she is not in a relationship with Kiddwaya.

In as much as I gossip, I don’t like to mention names of people involved in the gossip, So that the person won’t go fighting, But Doyin doesn’t like that about me, she hates it whenever I refuse to tell her the name of the person involved in our gossip.

She added: “And, about the Pardon Me Please that was given to Doyin . Doyin lied to me and told me it was because she got to the HOH task finals with Mercy , that was why the housemates decided to give her the Pardon Me Please in order to compensate her.

“I felt Doyin should have told me the truth, that she asked the housemates for the Pardon Me Please to be given to her instead of me. But I found out the truth from Angel and other housemates, and it made me feel like some of the things the housemates have been telling me about Doyin might be true, even Cross said the same thing, Soma also told me something about Doyin not being the kind of person I thinks she is.

“I needed this week’s Pardon Me Please badly , because I haven’t caught a break from nominations. Doyin knew about it , yet I found out from Cross that Doyin was campaigning for angel to get the pardon Me Please, I felt Doyin should have told me about it, rather than getting the information from other Housemates.

“But when I asked Doyin her excuse was that angel campaigned for her the previous week, But even at that, Angel has had one week break. Even Doyin has had one week break as well, but I haven’t had any break. So why didn’t Doyin explain it that way to Angel?”, She said.

However, in his final response, Big brother said the problem both of them had with each other was due to lack of communication, adding that maybe their relationship needed a break.

He also advised her not to forget someone that had her back when others didn’t.

“I regret that action and I’m sorry about this. I’m sorry about saying such comments, they are indeed very misogynistic.

“That is a very dark and unfair thing to say about anybody’s child. I’m really sorry about that big brother.

“I’m just regretting that I said those things. Not to mention that I am married to a beautiful woman, my mother and the women who have been there for me.

“I know I have a darkness inside, and I tried my best to tame it inside”
