Beyonce is 2017 highest paid woman in music with $105m – Forbes

The hit album of Beyonce titled – “Lemonade” and world tour made her the highest-paid woman in music in 2017, according to an annual Forbes list on Monday.

The Pop Diva edged out Britain’s Adele and pop star Taylor Swift.

The R&B singer earned some 105 million dollars from record sales and from her “Formation” concert tour, according to Forbes.

Beyonce also has her own Ivy Park fashion line and other business interests.

Adele, whose “25” album broke first-week U.S. sales records in 2015 and who completed her first major tour since 2011, made second place with an estimated 69 million dollars, despite having no major endorsements for other products.

Swift, who topped the last year’s list with 170 million dollars in estimated earnings, raked in 44 million dollars this time despite having finished her “1989” world tour.

The singer is expected to see her earnings rise significantly in the next 12 months courtesy of her new album “Reputation” – the best-selling album of 2017 – and an upcoming tour.

Canadian superstar Celine Dion took the No.4 spot, earning some 42 million dollars after taking a break from her Las Vegas residency following the death of her husband Rene Angelil in January 2016.

Forbes compiled the list after estimating pretax income for the 12 months from June 2016 to 2017, based on interviews with managers, agents, lawyers and some of the stars.

It also looked at data from the Pollstar, the Recording Industry Association of America and tracking firm Nielsen SoundScan.

  • Nigeria, Cameroon matches dominate Google

    Nigeria, Cameroon matches dominate Google

Nigeria’s 4-0 first leg win over Cameroon in the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers, dominated searches this week on Google.

Google’s spokesman Mr Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade made the announcement in a dispatch to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos.

According to Kola-Ogunlade, this week’s top trending search terms on Google range from sports to celebrity news.

He said that sports-loving Nigerians got excited over the Eagles’ performance against their counterparts in the qualifiers.

The Eagles are now leading their group with 10 points from matches played so far.

“Their 4-0 win over Cameroon on Friday and 1-1 draw by the Lions of Cameroon on Monday has gotten fans, sport experts, coaches and speculators predicting that the Super Eagles might qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

“Excited fans raced to Google search to get more details about upcoming matches for the qualifiers.”

Kola-Ogunlade said that the American professional tennis player, Serena Williams, who was reported to have given birth to a baby girl on Sep. 1 also attracted searches on Google.

He said that the announcement of Serena’s first child with fiancé, Alexis Ohanian, was made by reporter Chris Shepherd via Twitter.

“Though the couple have not officially announced the birth, the tennis star’s fans and celebrity friends have since taken to Google to share their congratulatory messages.”

The Google manager said that concerned Nigerians also searched Google to read more about the distressing news of the North Korea missile test.

“North Korean President Kim Jong-un was pictured during yet another round of nuclear missiles testing over the weekend.

“The images have sparked tension in South Korea, the U.S. and Europe.

“Han Tae Song, the Ambassador of North Korea to the UN, the North Korean Supreme Leader vowed to send more “gift packages” to the U.S.,” said Kola-Ogunlade

The Google image maker said that American singer, songwriter and actress Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, turned 36 on Sept. 4.

“The pop star celebrated her birthday in spectacular fashion by starting an awareness campaign to support hurricane relief efforts in her hometown, Houston.

“Beyoncé, wearing one of the iconic outfits from her “Formation” video, shared images of her friends and family on her website.

“Beneath the images was a message and link asking fans to support the Hurricane Harvey disaster relief efforts.

“While Nigerian Beyhive’s congratulated and commended the singer for the effort, others criticised her, which made Nigerians interested in the debate go to Google to get the full gist.”

Google Trends launched in May, 2006, allows one to see how popular, search terms and its demography have been over time on the search engine.

  • Kola Aluko’s $50.9m New York penthouse to be auctioned

Kola Aluko’s $50.9m New York penthouse to be auctioned

Nigerian energy businessman Kola Aluko, declared wanted by the EFCC, has been identified as the owner of Apartment 79, a penthouse apartment in One57, one of New York City’s most expensive residential buildings.

However, the apartment would be sold to the highest bidder by a Luxembourg based Banque Havilland, in a foreclosure auction in July, the New York Post reported.

The penthouse sale is seen as the most expensive foreclosure in New York City.

Aluko, 48, is believed to be hiding out on his yacht, which he rented to Jay Z and Beyoncé in 2015 for 900,000 dollars a week.

The energy businessman, who is a friend of stars such as Jay Z and Jamie Foxx, has not been seen for a while, which has sparked rumours that he is hiding away on his yacht, which was last registered in the Bahamas in May.

Aluko was reportedly last seen in Hong Kong in May and his yacht is currently in the Bahamas, according to the report.

His bank has also listed the yacht, the Galactica Star, as collateral in the foreclosure, but the yacht is ‘out of range’ at the moment.

Aluko rented the Galactica Star to Jay Z and Beyoncé in 2015 for 900,000 dollars a week and allegedly showed up at the Ja Rule Fyre Festival in the Bahamas in late April with his yacht.

The businessman is also close friends with Leonardo DiCaprio and made a large donation to DiCaprio’s environmental charity as well as attended the actor’s birthday party in New York City in 2013.

The energy tycoon sold a 2.4-acre estate in Montecito, California, to Gwyneth Paltrow for an undermarket 4.9million dollars.

In 2012, he bought an 11,478-square-foot house in Bel Air for 24.5 million dollars, then sold the property in 2016 for 21.5 million dollars.

He also owns a home in Beverly Hills that was also purchased in 2012 for 14.7 million dollars.

Aluko is also avoiding Nigerian authorities who tried to freeze his assets in February as part of a money-laundering probe.

Apartment 79 was sold to a Aluko in December 2014 for 50.9million dollars, making it the eighth most expensive unit in the building, according to New York City property records.

Less than a year later however, he took out a 35.5million dollars mortgage from Banque Havilland in Luxembourg to help pay for the apartment.

When Aluko failed to pay the loan back a year later, the bank took possession of the 6,420-square-foot apartment, according to court documents.

Now the bank is planning to auction off the four-bedroom apartment on July 19 to regain the mortgage plus interest.

“It’s probably the most-expensive foreclosure we’ve ever seen in luxury development. I don’t know of a foreclosure that’s larger than that,” Donna Olshan, president of high-end Manhattan brokerage Olshan Realty Inc., told newsmen.

One57 was built by Extell Development Co. and was the tallest residential building in Manhattan until 432 Park Ave was completed a few months later.

Construction started on the building in 2009 and finished in 2014, creating a trend of similar ultra-luxury high-rises on 57th street, which has now been coined ‘Billionaire’s Row’.

Amenities in the building include a 24-hour doorman and concierge, fitness center, yoga studio, private dining room, catering kitchen, library, valet service and on-site parking.

  • Beyoncé delivers twins

    Beyoncé delivers twins

U.S. singer, Beyonce, has given birth to twins in Los Angeles, several celebrity news websites reported on Saturday, citing unidentified sources.

Beyonce, 35, and rapper and music producer Jay Z, already have a five-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy.

E! News, citing multiple unidentified sources, reported the birth and that Jay Z and Blue Ivy were seen at a Los Angeles area hospital on Thursday.

U.S. Weekly, also citing multiple unidentified sources, reported that the couple welcomed twins earlier this week.

“Bey and Jay are thrilled and have started sharing the news with their family and closest friends,” one unidentified source told PEOPLE.

Reuters could not verify the reports. A representative for Beyonce did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

The celebrity news websites did not provide additional details, such as the date and time the twins were born or the sex of the infants.

The “Lemonade” singer, one of the most powerful women in the music business, announced the pregnancy on her Instagram account in February along with an image of her posed in lingerie and caressing a noticeable baby bump.

The announcement got more than 8 million “likes” in the first 24 hours to become the “most-liked” Instagram ever.

The R&B singer performed live at the Grammy awards in Los Angeles two weeks later, proudly displaying her swelling belly in a motherhood-themed show.

She has since posted numerous pictures of her bare baby bump on her social media accounts.

The birth of Blue Ivy caused a paparazzi storm in 2012, with New York’s Lenox Hill hospital shutting down part of its maternity wing to accommodate music’s royal couple.

News of the pregnancy came less than a year after the release of Beyonce’s 2016 album “Lemonade,” in which she appeared to address long-standing rumors of trouble in her eight-year marriage.

The lyrics of several songs spoke about being cheated on, and regretting being married.

But Beyonce made clear in the final tracks of the album and in music videos featuring Jay-Z that she had decided to stay in the relationship.

The couple have never addressed the rumors publicly. (Reuters/NAN)

Beyonce named most valuable celebrity on social media

American music superstar Beyonce, has been named the most influential celebrity, with her Instagram posts worth One Million Dollars each, on a photo-sharing website by D’Marie Analytics.

According to Time.com, using an algorithm that measures 56 metrics across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, the star’s value was determined.

Those metrics did include the followers count, but they also encompassed reach, engagement, click-through, and action conversions.

Frank Spadafora, Chief Executive of D’Marie, said Beyonce’s “limited” use of social media had boosted her earning power.

“Her limited release of exclusive curated content causes such frenzy from her audience.”

The post attracted 6,335,571 ‘likes’ within eight hours and subsequently broke the record for the most-liked image on the website.

Beyonce’s snap of her cradling her baby bump overtook the previous record of Selena Gomez.

Gomez achieved 6.6 million ‘likes’ from her 116 million followers in response to a picture of her sipping from a Coca-Cola bottle.

Jay Z pampers Beyonce with Game of Thrones prop

JAY Z has reportedly bought Beyonce a Game of Thrones Dragon Egg prop. Actress Emilia Clarke, who stars in the TV series as the Khaleesi or ‘Mother of Dragons’ gave fellow entertainment royalty, Beyonce and Jay Z a shout-out during an interview for the most recent Harper’s Bazaar cover story when she suggested the couple may possess a prized prop from the Game of Thrones; one of three of Khaleesi’s dragon eggs.

“Apparently Jay Z bought one for Beyoncé, or something,” she laughed. “I don’t know.”

However, the ‘Mother of Dragons’ herself doesn’t even have one of the eggs, because, in her words, they are really, really, really expensive and they are really heavy and serious works of art.

Beyonce and Jay Z aren’t the only celebrity power couple on Clarke’s mind. Later in the article, the irreverent actress played out an awards season encounter with Channing and Jenna Dewan-Tatum.

“I was at a Golden Globes after-party and Channing Tatum came up to me, and his stunning missus, Jenna. And they said, ‘We call each other “moon of my life” and “my sun and stars” and all that.’ And I was like, ‘I cannot contain this. Please, can we all have something sexual together? You’re both beautiful, even just a hug.’”

Along with continuing to play Daenerys in Game of Thrones, Clarke will also star as Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genisys, set  for July 1.
