  • Biafra: IPOB has no right to restrict movement, force people to sit at home – lawyer

Respected Constitutional lawyer and an Abuja-based Rights Activist, Osuagwu Ugochukwu has warned the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), against compelling people to sit at home on May 30.

The activist, warned IPOB group against taking the laws into their hands in their planned bid to force Ibos and non-Igbos in staying at home on May 30 2017.

Ugochukwu said it was totally wrong for the group to force people who do not believe in Biafra to stay at home and stop motorist from moving in and out of eastern part of the country on May 30.
IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, had in a statement, asked its members to observe the stay at home exercise on May 30 and remember their fallen heroes.

Reacting however in a statement, on Sunday, Ugochukwu, warned the group against provoking the Nigerian government and the military; stressing that it would be better to fight for a course within the ambit of the law.

He said: “Nobody is against your believe in Biafra and nobody is saying you should not exercise your rights in promoting your Biafra ideology. But in doing so you must not breach the laws of the Land .

“The call by IPOB to all markets, transport companies, schools, banks, companies, civil servants, petrol stations, okada/tricycle unions, park management, artisans, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and Drivers Welfare in Biafraland, to shut down on that particular day in honour and remembrance of our fallen heroes and heroines is unlawful. This is a threat to Sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Nigerian Constitution.

“The laws of the Land allow for freedom of movement and any attempt by any group including IPOB to force people from freely moving will be treated as treasonable , breach of public peace and confrontational which the Military and other security Agencies would not take lightly.

“IPOB has no right to restrict movement of persons and vehicles on May 30 as it is against section 41 of the Nigerian Constitution (as amended) which provides that Every citizen of Nigeria is entitled to move freely throughout Nigeria and to reside in any part thereof, and no citizen of Nigeria shall be expelled from Nigeria or refused entry thereby or exit therefrom.”

The activist urged IPOB to follow the path of Igbo apex social cultural group, Ohaneze who have been agitating for better deal for Ndigbos within the ambit of the law.

  • Tension over alleged moves to stop Biafra Day anniversary

Tension over alleged moves to stop Biafra Day anniversary

•Why Ndigbo are solidly behind Kanu – Ugochukwu-Uko

As pro-Biafran groups perfect their plans for the observation of May 30, Biafran Day Anniversary in spite of the stringent bail conditions granted NnamdiKanu, the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), The Nation gathered during the week that some concerned Igbo leaders, including state governors, have been working round the clock to ensure the situation did not get out of hand.

A source confided that while direct efforts have been made to persuade the various groups involved in the Biafran agitation not to go ahead with this year’s anniversary in view of Kanu’s bail conditions, many noted Igbo leaders, who were approached on this subject vehemently questioned the rationale behind such suggestion, arguing that Biafra is a major experience that cannot be suppressed by anybody under any guise.

Even IPOB, whose leader’s bail condition was presented as the reason for the negotiations, said there is no going back on the sit-at-home order it declared on May 30, for Biafra Day celebration in remembrance of fallen heroes of Biafra who died during the civil war of 1967 and 1970.

Swearing to go ahead with the celebration, the group alleged that the Federal Government has mapped out plans to deal with the people of Biafra during the Remembrance Day celebration.

In a statement by the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Mr. Emma Powerful, the group warned Biafrans to stay at home on that day to avoid security operatives from killing innocent members of the public or IPOB members. He added that “there are series of meetings going on between security agencies and saboteurs in our midst who wish to sabotage the Remembrance Day celebration of our fallen heroes and heroines scheduled to hold on May 30.”

Aside IPOB, Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Biafra Independence Movement (BIM) have not only expressed their determination to go on with the anniversary but have also called on the United Nations (UN) to step-up action by granting freedom to Biafra with a view to stopping unending killings and brutal treatment already meted out to people of the defunct eastern region by Nigerian government.

Okigwe zonal leaders of MASSOB and BIM made the call in a statement jointly issued to mark the 50th Anniversary of Biafra and MASSOB’s 18th Anniversary.

The Nation investigation during the week showed that while some top Igbo leaders are convinced the best thing is to ensure the said annual anniversary do not hamper the progress so far made through Kanu’s bail, others contend that Biafrans must never give up on remembering their fallen heroes.

According to our source, this disagreement has left South-East governors and leadership of OhanaezeNdigbo with no option than to adopt, what a top state government official in Ebonyi State described as a delicate diplomatic strategy.

Explaining why some Igbo leaders are solidly behind Biafran agitators on the anniversary ceremony, Evangelist Elliot Ugochukwu-Uko, the founder of Igbo Youth Movement (IYM) said, “I assure you that our people are 100 percent behind NnamdiKanu and the IPOB. They have called on our people to stay at home on that day and meditate on the blood of our brethren unnecessarily shed in our recent history. I will assure you that in spite of the attempt by enemies of the people to sabotage the stay at home order, I believe our people will comply because they know that Kanu and IPOB mean well for our unborn children.

“Our people are behind him simply because, he has proven devoted, dedicated and committed to freeing our people from the prison called Nigeria. He has also proven that he will willingly make painful sacrifices for the sake of our people,” he said.

As at press time, sources said all the Biafran agitation groups are mobilizing their members in the villages to observe the stay at home order, while negotiations to stop rallies continue.

  • Biafra, Buhari and the children of Ojukwu

Since April 25, 2017, millions of Nigerians, international security and diplomatic monitors of Nigeria have been witnessing two contrasting images of the country of an estimated 170 million. One image is that of President Muhammadu Buhari. The other is the controversial profile of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the IPOB (Indigenous People of Biafra) movement.

Ironically, Buhari’s government detention and refusal to respect lawful orders of the courts for almost two years regarding the release or granting of bail escalated Kanu’s profile, globally. It sharpened the contrast with implications.

First, it sent a historic reminder to all students of history and power that demands for equity/fairness  in Nigeria’s geo-politics and nationalities questions cannot be swept aside as the high-noon rantings of a few, misguided chaps possessed and jaundiced by youthful impetuosity! Such snotty, condescending nonsense and arrogance have combined to show the evident limitations of some of Nigeria’s leaders at the state and federal levels.

Second, since January 19, 2017, when Nigeria’s President Buhari began his “medical vacation” to London, we’ve all seen the images of a very ill and absent commander-in-chief; plus increasing talk about the likelihood of his quitting due to his complicated, frail health. Essentially, those images fit the current shape of the country’s weakening political economy. Like my made-in-Aba suits and trousers, they fit perfectly.

Third, the dominant message seems to me to be the escalating demands against Nigeria’s 1914 colonial borders as imposed and implemented under The Amalgamation of the Northern and Southern regions by the British soldier of raw materials and minerals named Lord Lugard. I hear the familiar demands approximating the historical agreement at Aburi in Ghana, as reflected in the official minutes, dated January 4-5, 1967. I hear the cries of some young men and young women whose siblings and parents were murdered in the routine killing and genocidal slaughter of the Igbo and the ethnic groups/communities who constituted Biafra. I hear a demand on all those who profit from the militarized impositions of a perpetual, non-negotiable “national unity” since 1960s to date, circa 2017. It seems to me a demand against domestic agents and foreign corporations whose actions have turned the once evergreen Niger Delta into a decimated, polluted environmental nightmare. I hear a demand for economic security and against 10 years of  unemployment after graduation. I hear, loud and clear, a stand against discrimination in admissions and  employment. I hear….

Fourth, many of the older generation Igbo who fought in and for Biafra caution the youth against pushing for another Biafra, even with the peaceful agitation. For all that it is worth, we note that Nnamdi Kanu was born after that war. It is the dominant demographics and a benchmark to appreciate/understand/critique the younger generation’s interpretation of Biafra and trans-continental agitation for Biafra.

Fifth, Kanu-led IPOB and its affiliates distribute information and mobilize across more cities in the world more than any other Nigerian or African organization. USAfrica news index January 2014-April 2017 also show that the Pope Francis, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin ‘Bibi’ Netanyahu, U.S President Donald Trump know, the British Prime Minister Theresa May, and many world leaders are, at least, aware of their activism and agenda.

Sixth, without a doubt, there are aspects of the new Biafra movement which reflect a certain level of operational and tactical recklessness.

On the other hand, the non-dramatic fluency with which they sorted and settled — within 30 hours—  the harsh reality of the mountain high jump, stringent and extremely difficult to meet conditions ordered on April 25, 2017 as required bail terms for the temporary release of the leader of the IPOB, by the Federal High Court Justice Binta Nyako, a wife of a former top military officer and governor, showed the credibility and clout of IPOB . She required Kanu  to provide three sureties; one of whom must be a serving Senator in Nigeria, a Jewish religious leader and highly respected person, who own land anywhere in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. The bail bond was set at N100 million, for each surety. Kanu was also ordered not to grant any interviews to the media/press, pending the outcome of his trial and should  not be seen in a meeting/gathering of more than 10 persons.

Finally, what would Ojukwu (the Head of State of Biafra) have said about these events? I interviewed him 3 times; one at his house in Lagos and twice in the U.S. One thing is certain: the ideological children  and grandchildren of Odumegwu Ojukwu, of Chinua Achebe, of Gen. Effiong, of Christopher Okigbo, of Wole Soyinka have kept a message of national identity, unapologetic zeal and unbowed resilience regarding the 1967-1970 war. Especially, those who swear “citizenship” under the golden yellow colors of the Land of the Rising Sun! Biafra.

  • Biafra Day: MASSOB-BIM to hold peaceful rally on May 22

Biafra Day: MASSOB-BIM to hold peaceful rally on May 22

The factional leadership of the Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) under the command of Chief Ralph Uwazuruike says the group in conjunction with Biafra Independent Movement (BIM) would be holding a peaceful rally in Southeast and other parts of the country on May 22.

Okporie U. Nkama, Abia South MASSOB-BIM (Biafra Independent Movement) zonal leader who spoke to newsmen in Aba Friday on behalf of their leader, Chief Uwazuruike said that the essence of the rally which would have in attendance its members from the 17 local government areas of the state was to commemorate 2017 “Biafra Day”, 17 years after its leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike hoisted Biafra flag to signal the group’s loss of interest to be part of Nigeria again.

Nkama, though couldn’t disclose where the group would be converging said that they would march round major streets of Aba including Azikiwe road, Asa road, Okigwe road, Aba-Owerri Expressway amongst other roads and streets they intend to cover.

The Abia South leader of MASSOB-BIM further stated that the event would be wrapped up with a novelty match on May 30 in Aba warned that they would not fold their arms to watch unscrupulous elements hijack the exercise to cause breach of peace in Aba and its environs, stressing that the peaceful and non-violent disposition of the group in its approach to the struggle have made them to remain focused and undaunted.

On the planned May 30 sit-at-home protest by the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nkama urged the residents of Aba and the state in general to disregard such information but to go about their lawful business activities and to find time to come and watch the inter-state novelty match that would be played at a venue that would soon be announced.

“MASSOB-BIM wants to celebrate Biafra on May 22. It is our day, a day that Uwazuruike, our leader hoisted Biafran flag on May 22, 2000 and we want to celebrate it. It is the day we have mapped out every year to thank God for keeping us alive in the last 17 years when the renewed struggled for the emancipation of Biafra was started by our leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike.

It is important that we celebrate this day because it provides avenue for us remember the efforts of the founding fathers of Biafra and also to reawaken our spirit and to instill in us the consciousness about the actualization of a sovereign state of Biafra which they (our founding fathers) all fought and died for.

“It is a day of reminding ourselves that like the people of Israelites who were being persecuted by Pharaoh in Egypt, that we will one day leave Egypt for that promise land which flows with milk and honey. Biafrans want to be free from Nigeria where there is so much pain and hardship like we are witnessing today. It is a day of reminding ourselves on the need for us to leave Nigeria.

“It is going to be a peaceful one because MASSOB is a non-violent organization. After the Aba rally, our members will go back to their regions and replicate same with their zonal leaders from other zones.”

Speaking further, Nkama said that no amount of intimidation by the federal government of Nigeria or its agents would make them bow to the pressure of abandoning their struggle, stressing that “we will get what we want in a peaceful way.”

He further pledged their loyalty to Ralph Uwazuruike. Other members of the public who doesn’t carry arms are free to join us during the rally but if you bear arms, we will not allow you to join the rally because the world know us as a non-violent group and we want to maintain it.

Police warns IPOB against planned protest

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has warned Indegenous People of Barra (IPOB) not to embark on it’s planned protest.

The Police said the warning is imperative because the protest could result in breakdown of law and order.

This warning is contained in a statement in Abuja by the Command Spokesperson, ASP Usen Omorodion.

The statement reads: “Intelligence report at the disposal of police revealed that a certain group identified as the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) has threatened to take over the street of FCT in the name of registering their protest.

“The commissioner of police hereby warns individual and groups against indulging in acts of protest that will result to breakdown of law and order in the federal capital territory.

“To this end, the commissioner of police hereby warns those behind the proposed action to desist forthwith in their own interest as the said protest would be tantamount to the peace of the federal capital territory FCT.

The statement further reads: “As a professional organization saddled with the responsibility of protecting lives and properties, the FCT command would not fold its arms and watch criminal elements hide under the guise of such protest to cause breakdown of law and order.”

The Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo however advised FCT residents to go about their lawful duties without fear and molestation adding that the command is well prepared and possesses the necessary wherewithal to confront any threat to the serene peace of the FCT.

Meanwhile, the Police also disclosed that it has increased it’s patrol team on major roads, entry and exit route around the FCT as part of measures to ensure smooth workers day celebration.

The CP also said he has directed his men to man recreational parks and other places of public interest.

  • Fayose under fire for identifying with Biafra

Fayose under fire for identifying with Biafra

Barely 24 four hours after his appearance at an Abuja Federal High Court, where he showed solidarity with Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Leader Nnamdi Kanu, Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has been criticised for identifying with Igbo secession agitators.

The state chapter of Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) criticised him for “bringing governance to a ridiculous level and assaulting the sensibilities of the Yoruba nation”.

Another group, Progressives Youth League (PYL), criticised the governor “for abandoning serious business of governance in his home state to run a comedy show in faraway Abuja in a matter that does not concern him”.

They faulted his statement that “Ekiti now belongs to Biafra”.

The groups warned the governor not to use his position to fan the embers of discord, disunity and crisis in the federation.

In a statement by its State Coordinator, Bunmi Akanbi Awotiku, ARG said it was not oblivious of the constitutional immunity and fundamental human rights Fayose enjoyed, but condemned the abuse of those rights.

ARG said: “Despite receipts of monthly statutory federal allocation, budget support funds, bailout funds running into billions of naira, Ekiti workers are under the yoke of non-receipt of their monthly salaries and allowances.

“The pensioners are not faring better. This is a governor displaying executive rascality all over Ekiti State and beyond. He has brought governance to a ridiculous level. He can be excused for his style of leadership and manner of delivery, but there are well designed standards for the office, which he occupies but which he brings to ridicule.

“His recent solidarity visit to Nnamdi Kanu, who has insulted and holds the Yoruba nation with disrespect, is an executive rascality taken too far. Notwithstanding the political motive, his solidarity is an insult and affront to the true Omo Oduduwa at home and in the Diaspora.

“Ekiti State ARG implores Fayose to carry out his assignment with the fear of God and respect the needs and yearnings of Ekiti people. We take exception to his determination to rubbish our valued heritage.

“We hereby implore him to face governance in our dear state, bring smiles to the faces of government workers in the state and local governments, make pensioners happy and enjoy the fruits of their labour. This political rascality and razzmatazz must stop.”

PYL Coordinator Adeoye Aribasoye said the governor’s action showed he was idle and did not understand the seriousness of governance.

He said a lot of issues requiring Fayose’s attention had been abandoned for a “needless trip to Abuja at the expense of tax payers”.

The PYL coordinator urged Fayose to resign from office, “if he is no longer interested in governing the people of the state”.

Aribasoye said: “Fayose’s action of going to the court in Abuja to show support for Kanu has nothing to do with the welfare of the people of Ekiti. It appears the man is not ready to provide governance for the people of Ekiti. We are calling on him to resign honourably.

“There are many problems, back home, which need his attention: workers are owed arrears of salaries, institutions are owed subventions, there are infrastructural deficit and people are groaning under a harsh economic climate.

“All these need urgent solutions and not junketing to Abuja for a needless showmanship, shadow boxing and grandstanding.”

  • Igbo coalition flays Yakassai for chiding Biafra struggle

Igbo coalition flays Yakassai for chiding Biafra struggle

A coalition of Igbo groups, Eastern Consultative Assembly (ECA) Tuesday came hard on elder statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai over his recent utterances against the Biafra struggle.

The ECA made its stand known at its special session, attended by several Igbo leaders in Enugu where detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was elected as its new leader.

Others elected included Rev Fr. John Odey- Publicity Secretary, Evang. Elliot Ugochukwu-Uko- Secretary, Dede Uzor A Uzor- Assistant Publicity Secretary, while Chief (Mrs.) Maria Okwor, remains Matron and Deputy Leader. ECA Patrons remain, Prof Ben Nwabueze, Dr Alex Ekwueme and Archbishop Anthony Obinna.

In a communique issued after the election, signed by the Deputy Leader, Chief Mrs. Maria Okwor and the Publicity Secretary, Rev. Fr. John Odeh, the ECA described Yakassai’s recent outburst against Biafra agitation as misplaced.

The group told Yakassai that “your claimed annoyance over the agitation for secession by the great IPOB is misplaced.

“Alhaji Tanko should kindly provide answers as to why Zamfara State with NPC acclaimed population of over 5 million people should immunize only 74,000 under 5 year children during the anti-polio vaccination exercise, while Imo State with NPC population of under 3 million immunized over 300,000 thousand.

“JAMB and WAEC figures year after year also confirm the fraudulent census figures; Zamfara and Sokoto states with a combined NPC alleged population of over 11 million enroll only 40 thousand candidates while Anambra state alone with an NPC population of 3 million produces over 400 thousand candidates. Man’s inhumanity to Man.”

Insisting on restructuring, the ECA said, “the fraudulent and oppressive census figures is one of the reasons the East can no longer accept Nigeria as presently structured.

“The deliberate asphyxiation of our people with a very wicked state and local government creation based on land mass is another reason sir.”
“The refusal to peacefully restructure Nigeria sir is the reason the demand for secession is growing louder and louder. The demand dear sir will only grow louder until justice is done sir.

“As for Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu and his Northern delegate to the confab forum, we say your position by opposing the peaceful restructuring of Nigeria excites and fuels the secessionists.”

The Igbo group equally lauded the new Ohanaeze Leadership “for standing on the side of the people, a welcome breath of fresh air in comparison with past cowardly Ohanaeze leaderships.”
Meanwhile in his acceptance speech presented by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, represented by the new IPOB coordinator, ‎Mazi George Onyeibehe said: ‎”I hope all the affiliate groups in this coalition will soon join hands with us in our peaceful and non-violent pursuit of a referendum that will allow the people decide their future.

“I commend the ECA and strongly believe that I will not let you down. Once again, I say thank you for this great honour”.

  • You can’t quell Biafra agitation with force, Obi warns FG

You can’t quell Biafra agitation with force, Obi warns FG

Former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, Thursday warned against the current approach adopted by the Federal Government in handling pro-Biafra agitations in the Southeast.

Obi who spoke with journalists after a closed door meeting with the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha at the Governor’s lodge in Owerri, the Imo State capital, insisted that the use of force or the continued incarceration of Biafra activists cannot quell the growing agitations.

According to him, the Federal Government should continue to engage the players in continued dialogue as a means of finding a lasting solution to the challenges, particularly the issue of Biafra, which he said is given Igbo leaders serious concern.

In his words, “I have warned against the use of force against Biafra agitators. The Federal Government should be open to continued dialogue, which is what we are supporting. That is why I am here today to thank Governor Rochas Okorocha for his efforts in managing the Biafra challenge”.

He continued that, “our people won’t support the use of force against those agitating for Biafra; it is a very delicate matter that must be treated with caution. As a matter of fact, the FG should release all Biafra activists that are currently in detention to begin the process of meaningful dialogue”.

Although details of the meeting were not made known to journalists, but The Nation gathered that it may not be unconnected with the plan by the former Governor to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

It was also suspected that the ex-Anambra Governor also came to perfect plans on how to assist the APC win the November 22 governorship election in Anambra State.

Obi, who has been locked in a cold war with his successor, is said to be weighing the option of joining other Igbo leaders in the APC and helping the party win the governorship election will brighten his chances in the APC.

But the former governor dismissed any plan to join the APC, “I am a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and I am not dumping the party for any other party. So I am not joining the APC. I am here for a private visit that is all, nothing more”.

  • IPOB plans to shut down South-east, others May 30

IPOB plans to shut down South-east, others May 30

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has said it will shut down the
South- east and other Igbo -speaking communities in the country on May 30, to celebrate its 2017 Biafra Day Remembrance.

In a statement signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, the group said the plan to shut down the region is to give respect to those that sacrificed their lives for the Biafra agitation.

The statement partly reads: “30th May 2017 will be a public holiday of
remembrance for the sacrifice our heroes and heroines made for the sacred land of Biafra, therefore we must honour them. There will be no movement throughout Biafraland and every area where a majority of Biafran population
reside both Biafraland and wherever our people lives across the globe will
    come to a standstill.

“Therefore, we expect every man, woman, child and business to observe this
great annual event by staying at home and not engaging in any business
activity. There will be no movement in Biafraland, both human and
vehicular. Biafraland will be shut down completely as a mark of dignified
respect to those that sacrificed their lives for us.

“That is the least we can do to show them and Almighty God that this
generation of IPOB and those to come will remain forever indebted to them
that gave their lives to stop the elimination of the Biafran race from the
    face of the earth.”

  • Biafra: we are at point of no return in the struggle-MASSOB leader

Biafra: we are at point of no return in the struggle-MASSOB leader

Factional leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Comrade Uchenna Madu said no amount of pressure from any quarters would make his group and any other pro-Biafra group to quit their struggle for the state of Biafra.

Comrade Madu while speaking to our reporter in Aba, the commercial nerve of Abia State on Saturday said the agitation for the sovereign state of Biafra has come a long way that MASSOB and any other pro-Biafra group would not rest their oasis until the dream of MASSOB founding were actualized.

Asked whether the group would relent in its agitation now that it seems that the federal government has started addressing some of the infrastructural decay in the southeast, the MASSOB leader said “We can’t stop, we have passed that point. Some people think that the agitation for the Sovereign State of Biafra was because of marginalization or infrastructural decay in the eastern region, No! We have passed that”

” We want Biafra, not because our roads are bad, not because Igbo man has not become the President of the country, Nigeria. We want Biafra not because of negligence of service, but we want Biafra because we are Biafrans; we are created Biafrans and we have to exhibit it in all sense of responsibility. We want to restore the ancient kingdom of Biafra as it were before the 1914 amalgamation of Northern and Southern Protectorate.

“Our people have died not because of Igbo Presidency, because of Biafra and the people that were killed in Aba and many other parts of Nigeria were being killed because of Biafra. They were not killed because of the bad roads in the southeast, second Niger Bridge or Igbo Presidency or decay in infrastructure, if they like, let them (federal government) fix everything overnight, it won’t make us to stop. We have reached at the point of no return, there is no way we can go back in the struggle for Biafra.”

Speaking on the decision of the group to relocate its administrative headquarters out of Okwe, Imo State and allow his former boss, Ralph Uwazuruike access to his father’s compound, Madu said that the decision to move their headquarters from Okwe was a unanimous agreement by all the major stakeholders of the group, stressing that the choice for Enugu was also for administrative convenience and the centrality of the new location which he said is the capital of Biafra.

“In the first place, we do have camps where some of our people are camped for the interest of the struggle. But this time around, we have to close all these camps because of some criminal activities that are going on there. We can never allow anything that can bring dishonor, disgrace of reproach to our image and can never condone any evil. We closed these camps in order to avoid our images from being tarnished. So, closing the camps doesn’t mean that we have stopped the struggle. All our structures are intact. The meetings are going on and our activities still going on as planned.

“We decided to allow Uwazuruike to return to his father’s house, this is three years that he has been in exile. We don’t want to cage or isolate ourselves in a particular place. The administration of MASSOB or Biafra shouldn’t be in somebody’s house or village, so we decided to leave that place and allow him to come back. Yes, we have lifted the ban and have forgiven him (Ralph Uwazuruike) in the spirit of Biafra. We can’t continue to keep grudges. We have handed his matter over to the ancestors (Chukwu Okike Abiama) to handle him. We can’t continue to play god. Let god decide his case, so that we too can move on.
