    Nigerians have vehemently criticised the fact that the ongoing Big Brother Naija is being held in South Africa instead of Nigeria which it focuses on.

    The reality show which started on Sunday, January 22, has a whole of South Africans on the team thereby discouraging Nigerians from following with interest.

    Questions Arising:

    It’s called “Big Brother Naija”

    Venue  – South Africa

    Paid cameramen – South Africa

    Accommodation (House) if leased, will be paid to a South African

    Security fees for housemates – South African Security company

    IT company – South African

    Food and drinks for housemates for 11 weeks will be bought in – South Africa.

    Generated income will develop South Africa Logistics

    TV show to be aired on South Africa cable TV (DSTV/GoTV)

    “It is sad to further emerging that the largest viewership is coming from Nigeria while the generated income is going to South Africa,” Says a Facebook user, Arthur.

    However, the media gathered on Tuesday that the Federal Government of Nigeria has ordered an investigation into why the show is holding in South Africa and not Nigeria as it is titled.

    Beyond Arthur more Nigerians are unhappy with the reality TV show organisers and they speak through Twitter while some others have moved on.

    GOtv subscribers will, for the first time, be part of the exciting times on the hit reality show, Big Brother Naija.
    The show, formerly known as Big Brother Nigeria, is making a return after a decade and will be aired on GOtv Plus channel 29 from today until 9 April. GOtv Value subscribers will also have the opportunity to watch highlights of the show on Africa Magic World, GOtv channel 10.
    Big Brother Naija will feature 12 housemates selected after auditions in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja. The housemates will perform a range of mental and physical tasks, and every week, the housemates will nominate other housemates for eviction. Every Sunday, the evicted housemate voted by the public will leave the Big Brother house, and at the end of the show, the housemate who has not been evicted will win a cash prize of N25million and a brand new KIA Sorento car.
    The presenter of the show is former Big Brother Nigeria housemate, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, and the voice of “Biggie” (Big Brother) will be Nigerian. As with all Big Brother shows around the world, the identity of Big Brother is a mystery and will remain so during and after the show.
    During the course of the 78-day show, the housemates will be visited by various Nigerian personalities, including musicians and performers.
    Big Brother Naija is an offshoot of globally successful Big Brother reality show. It debuted in Africa with the immensely popular Big Brother Africa.

    GOtv subscribers will, for the first time, have the opportunity to watch Big Brother Naija, the runaway hit reality show returning after a decade. The show, which kicks off on 22 January, will air on GOtv Channel 29, a 24/7 channel dedicated to it.
    Big Brother Naija offers a platform for people from all walks of life to showcase their talents and get propelled to stardom.
    “It is our firm belief that Big Brother Naija will give rise to a fresh wave of talented Nigerians. Going by the keenness and energy on display during the audition, we can safely say the show will offer our subscribers an amazing time,” said Efe Obiomah, Public Relations Manager, GOtv.
    She expressed confidence that Big Brother Naija will draw audiences across the African continent the same way Big Brother Africa did.
    Auditions for the show held in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, with each city drawing large numbers of prospective Big Brother Nigeria housemates from varied backgrounds, skill sets and personalities.

    As preparations are in top gear for the second edition of social reality TV show, Big Brother Nigeria, organisers have revealed that there will be no broadcast of nude footage called ‘Shower Hour’, when the show returns on January 22, 2017.
    This comes to some fans as ‘decent’, following the controversies generated by that segment of the show, during the now rested continental edition, Big Brother Africa (BBA).
    MultiChoice is bringing back the Nigerian version of the series after 10 years. It had announced after the last edition of BBA that each African country will stage the show henceforth.
    Renamed Big Brother Naija, the show will have 12 housemates who will compete for the prize of N25million and a brand new KIA Sorento car.
    Sponsored by PayPorte, the program will run for 78 days, starting 22 January 2017 with a two-hour, live, televised launch and end on 9 April 2017with a two-hour, live, televised finale.
    MultiChoice announced that the show will air on dedicated event channels on all DStv packages on channel 198 and GOtvPlus on channel 29
    During the show, a variety of Nigerian personalities will visit the Big Brother Naijahouse, including musicians and actors, while the show’s presenter will also be a Nigerian.
    Meanwhile, auditions for the show have been concluded in Lagos, Abuja and Port-Harcourt, witnessing an impressive turn out of Big Brother Naija hopefuls from different backgrounds, each with unique skills and personalities.
    Caroline Oghuma, Public Relations, Manager, MultiChoice, expressed her delight at the abundance of talent displayed during the auditions. She noted that the Big Brother reality show is about providing a platform to showcase people from different walks of life, creating an avenue for talent to be spotted and ultimately propelling people into superstardom.

    MultiChoice Nigeria has announced the return of the Nigerian reality TV show based on the Big Brother TV series; Big Brother Nigeria. Now referred to as Big Brother Naija, the show is returning after a ten year break.
    Speaking on this latest development, Managing Director, MultiChoice Nigeria, John Ugbe said the return of the show is one of the ways the company is enhancing the quality and variety of contents available on its platforms.
    According to him, the show has been well developed following the successes of past seasons of Big Brother Africa.
    “Big Brother Africa was popular for its entertainment value and ability to showcase ordinary Africans from different walks of life. We decided to re-invent the reality show once again by bringing back the Nigerian version which we are confident will draw pan-African audiences for the same reasons that Big Brother Africa did”, he said.
    In the first edition of the show, twelve housemates vied for the coveted $100,000 prize money by performing various mental and physical tasks. At the end of a three-month stay in the house, Katung Aduwak emerged winner.  The show also produced other notable stars such as Africa Magic’s Tinsel actor, Gideon Okeke, and TV personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.
    Ugbe revealed that auditions for Big Brother Naija will hold in Lagos on November 26 and 27 as more information on the show will be revealed in the coming weeks.
