  • Boroffice: why I dumped Labour Party for ACN

    The Chairman, Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Senator Robert Boroffice, yesterday explained why he defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

    Boroffice, who represents Ondo North, told reporters in Abuja that he left LP for ACN when it became obvious that he had become a stranger in the party.

    He said although he won his Senatorial election convincingly, the LP did not give him the support he needed for the election.

    Said he: “It is true that in 2011, I won election to the Senate on the platform of the Labour Party and by December 2011, I defected to ACN and the reason is obvious.”

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

  • Boroffice heads Ondo APC merger committee

    The merger committee of the new mega party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), was yesterday constituted in Ondo State.

    The committee, which was constituted in Akure, the state capital, is headed by Senator Ajayi Borrofice (Ondo North District). Boroffice will be assisted by a federal lawmaker, Mr. Ifedayo Abegunde (Akure South/North Federal Constituency).

    The committee said members from the parties involved in the merger will be announced soon.

    It said there will be three representatives from each party.

    Eleven parties have indicated their interest to be part of the merger in the state.

    Borrofice said it is necessary for all components in the merger to begin to interact and get to know one another.

    He said this would make the merger easier and without rancour.

    Borrofice described APC as a timely intervention to alleviate the pains of the masses.

    He said Nigerians want the party and the will of the people must prevail.

    Abegunde said APC would unseat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the centre of power.

    The meeting was attended by members of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).

    Also present were Prof. Olu Aderomu, Prince Olu Adegbenro, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa, Mr. Sehinde Akinbuwa, Mr. Ajanaku Benjamen, Mr. Femi Adekanbi, former Ondo Chief of Staff Mr. Foluso Aminu and former Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs Mr. Diran Iyantan.

    Boroffice: Akeredolu is next governor

    The senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Prof. Ajayi Boroffice, has predicted victory for the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the October 20 governorship election.

    The lawmaker, who was a governorship aspirant on the platform of the ACN, said the party would poll the majority votes in Akoko South West Local Government.

    He spoke at a reception to welcome Ambassador Bayo Yussuf, Chief Goke Ajisafe, the Labour Party (LP) aspirant into the House of Representatives for the Akoko Southwest/Southeast Federal Constituency in last year’s election and four Special Assistants to Governor Olusegun Mimiko who resigned their appointment, Mr. Opeyemi Igbede, Mr. Soji Ojomo, Chris Anota and Mr. Kayode Agunloye into the ACN fold.

    Boroffice, who was represented by the Vice- President, Akoko Elite Forum, Prince Boye Ologbese, hailed them for joining the ACN.

    He assured the defectors of a level playing ground.

    “We need to identify with the ACN because of the Southwest integration. This should be paramount to the Yoruba race and Ondo State can not afford to remain an Island in the Yoruba kingdom.

    “ACN’s standard bearer, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, has moved round Akoko to identify the problems of the area. He has designed a blueprint to solve them. I can assure you that he will win on October 20.”

    Ambassador Yussuf thanked the party executives for receiving them into their fold. He said he believes in Senator Boroffice’s style of leadership.

    Yussuf said he came back to the ACN because he believed in the Southwest integration and the determination of Senator Boroffice to transform Ondo State.
