  • Saraki’s defeat new beginning for Kwara, says Abdulrazaq

The defeat of Senate President Bukola Saraki and his anointed governorship candidate, Razak Atunwa, in the just-concluded elections in Kwara State marks a new beginning, Governor-Elect Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has stated.

He also attributed his victory and those of other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates to divine intervention.

The dismantlement of the Saraki dynasty in the state, according to him, has sign-posted total freedom for Kwarans, adding that “it is a new beginning.”

The frontline businessman-turned politician added that the trouncing of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates at all levels was borne out of God’s hands and reward of hard work.

Mallam Abdulrazaq, who was represented by Abdulrahman Giwa spoke this in Ilorin, the state capital at an event to celebrate APC’s victory in the state.

He said: “We have seen the reward for hard work; the future lies ahead of us, as the people have spoken.

“Our victory has shown that the people now know that the power resides with them. It means any elected representative that fails to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the voters will be shown the way out at the polls.”

State Coordinator of BOCA Hajia Afsat B. Byll said that the whole country is watching the governor-elect “to see what we will achieve having won the elections.

“For Kwarans, the victory is very symbolic in the history of the state politics, as no party has ever a landslide victory across all the three senatorial zones.

“This is indeed a revolution by the people that led to great victory. We hereby implore all Kwarans to give maximum support for the incoming administration to move the state to greater heights so that the struggle for freedom and victory would not be in vain. “

Hajia Byll hailed the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osibanjo at the polls, adding this achievement has made them game changers in the history of Nigerian politics.

“For the first time, Nigeria conducted elections without acrimony. The president and his vice not only won, the election was also free and fair to which the international community testified. This achievement is an eye opener for all Nigerians to know that it is possible to have elections without unnecessary expenses by government and individuals.

“Let it be on record that the success of APC in Kwara state and across the country can be ascribed to the milestone achievements of the Buhari administration in the various sectors.”

One of the suspects in the April 5th, 2018 bloody bank robbery in Offa, Offa local government area of Kwara state, Ayoade Akinnibosun on Friday revealed the police asked him to implicate Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Prosecution witness Inspector Hitila Hassan had on Thursday told the court that the suspects voluntarily gave their statements under his supervision.

Lead Prosecuting Counsel Prof Wahab Egbewole sought to tender the statements as exhibit but defence counsel Mathias Emeribe objected.

Mr. Emeribe argued that the statements were not voluntarily taken, noting they fell short of the provisions of the Evidence Act particularly sections 28 and 29.

At Friday’s proceedings, Akinnibosun said: “Abba Kyari told me to mention the name of Senate President Bukola Saraki that he gave me the guns for the operations. But I declined to do contending that my life is at stake.

“He promised that they would reward me handsomely and set me free if I can indict Senator Saraki.

“When I disagreed they called some policemen to take me back to their cell. During this time my hands were tied to my legs in the back. Their children are in America and Europe you are allowing yourselves to be used as political thugs.”

Akinnibosun added he was the leader of Kwara South Liberation

The essence is to secure government jobs for the boys, he said.

Ayoade Akinnibosun, Ibikunle Ogunleye and Adeola Ibrahim gave graphic details of their horrifying experience allegedly in the police custody in Abuja.

During one of their encounters at the police IRT ‘theatre room,’ they said in their presence Inspector Vincent allegedly shot dead five Fulani men.

‘The theatre room,’ according to is the generator room of the IRT’s office and it also doubles as where suspects are extra-judicially executed.

The trio added that it was in the same ‘theatre room that Inspector Vincent otherwise known as ‘Mr. Torture,’ allegedly shot dead Michael Adikwu for failing to indict them in the robbery incident.

According to Ibikunle Ogunleye “they brought the late Adikwu to implicate us and he said he had not met any of us in his life that is why Mr. Torture shot him to death. “

Presiding judge, Justice Halimat Salman adjourned the case to March 25th for continuation of trial within trial.

  • I will perform far better than Saraki, says Oloriegbe

Senator-elect for Kwara Central, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, on Thursday declared that his performance in the ninth Senate will far outweigh the performance of Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Saraki, the current Senator representing Kwara Central, has represented the Senatorial District since 2011.

Oloriegbe assured that his output for his constituents and the state in general will surpass Saraki’s performance for the eight years he would serve as a Senator.

He spoke in Abuja alongside two other Senators- elect from Kwara State after collecting his Certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He insisted that Saraki notwithstanding that he attained the position of Senate President did not set any standard of performance for any successor to study.

He added that Saraki did not also leave any average for any successor to meet.

Oloriegbe noted that Saraki by his brand of politics and ambition focuses more on national politics and not responsive and quality representation of the people of Kwara Central, his constituents.

He said, “It is God that gives and takes power from whosoever He wishes. I thank the Almighty Allah for granting me the grace of being overwhelmingly elected as Senator for Kwara Central in the coming 9th Senate.

“I have the pedigree of service to people and humanity as a trained medical doctor who has spent decades working with World Health Organization (WHO) and years on the political field also in rendering selfless service to people and humanity.

“I was the majority leader of Kwara State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2003 under the late Governor Muhammed Alabi Lawal.

“My focus in the Senate will squarely be on how to through legislative engineering, quality and responsive representation,  improve the lots of my people in Kwara Central and collaborate very effectively along with other federal lawmakers from the state with the State Governor-elect, Abdulrahaman Abdulrasaq in giving the state a new direction with regards to wealth creation and genuine development.

“The responsive representation I will put up for Kwara Central people within the next four years coupled with the required legislative engagements to be made on both the floor and at committee level for good governance in the country , will surpass whatever performance Saraki had rendered in the past.”

The Kwara South Senator-elect, Architect Lola Ashiru on his own assured that the new set of elected political office holders in Kwara State at all levels will collaborate to give the greatest good to the greatest number of Kwarans in months to come.

Ashiru said, “We are aware of the expectations on the ground and enormous challenges at hand but as people who are out to serve and not lord it over the electorate, Kwara will surely be better off with the change that had taken place in the state.”

He said further that they would not disappoint the people of Kwara State.

The Senator-elect for Kwara North, Umar Sadiq, said that he has the strong conviction that marginalisation that had been the lot of his area in the past under successive governments, would be a thing of the past.

  • Updated: Senate resolves to debate conduct of 2019 elections

The Senate on Wednesday resolved to debate the conduct of the controversial 2019 general elections.

The resolution followed a Point of Order (Order 42) by Senator Dino Melaye, which gives Senators the privilege to raise issues for consideration as they deem necessary.

Melaye prayed the Upper Chamber to debate the way and manner the 2019 general elections were conducted across the country with a view to identifying shortcomings.

The Kogi West Senator said the conduct of the elections were below expectation and should be debated with a view to making provisions that would aid the correction of observed anomalies.

For him, the debate will afford Senators the opportunity to tell their stories about how the elections were conducted in the constituencies.

He said the debate would also place the Senate in a better position to advise the President appropriately as well as to urge him to sign the amended Electoral Act for smoother elections in future.

Melaye concluded the debate would assist the country to prepare a seamless election process in future.

He sought to bring a substantive motion on the issue on the next legislative day.

The proposed motion appeared not to have gone down well with some Senators especially those of the All Progressives Congress (APC) extraction.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, sought the leave of the Senate to allow Melaye to present his motion on the next legislative day.

A Senator on the floor was over heard shouting that the voice vote should be declared inconclusive by Saraki.

Those opposed to the motion appeared to be louder in their shout of “nay”

Saraki ruled that what was needed to allow the motion was 1/5 of the leave of the Senate.

Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan, took the floor to remind Saraki that his ruling on whether to allow the motion or not was not clear.

Lawan said, “A non- partisan motion was on the floor. We didn’t hear your ruling. What was your ruling on the motion? We did not hear your ruling.”

Saraki reiterated what was needed to approve the motion to be debated was 1/5 of the leave of the Senate.

He said that 1/5 leave of the Senate was secured.

“My ruling is that the motion will be listed on the Order Paper for the next legislative day.

Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na’ Alla made a futile attempt to shoot down the motion by informing his colleagues that there was no motion on the floor in the first place.

Na’Alla said Melaye introduced himself as Senator-elect instead of introducing himself as a Senator.

Saraki reminded him that Melaye first introduced himself as a Senator representing Kogi West before adding that he is also a Senator-elect.

Senator Jibrin Barau (APC Kano North) raised another Point of Order and attempted to call for division of the House to determine the position of Senators on the motion.

    Saraki cut him short.

The Senate President insisted that what was required to allow the motion was 1/5 leave of the Senate.

The Senate President further assured that the motion would first be screened at the leadership level before presentation and debate in the chamber.

He noted specifically that the motion would be considered as a Pan Nigerian motion by ensuring that the debate is not partisan.

Saraki also assured that issues in court will not be allowed as part of the motion.

  • Senate opens debate on Budget 2019

The Senate will today open debate on the general principles of Budget 2019, Senate President Bukola Saraki assured yesterday.

Saraki scheduled the date of the debate of the fiscal document shortly before the upper chamber adjourned plenary session in honour of a member of the House of Representatives, Temitope Olaoye “Sugar”, who was killed in Ibadan last Saturday by unknown persons.

President Muhammadu Buhari, on December 19, last year, presented a Budget of N8.6 trillion to the joint session of the National Assembly for consideration and passage as this year’s Appropriation Bill.

Christened “Budget of Continuity”, the 2019 fiscal document is planned to continue the country’s drive for inclusive economic growth, diversification and sustainable development.

Saraki urged his colleagues, who have contributions to make on the budget to list their names for proper coordination of the debate.

He said that the debate will take two days, today and March 19 to enable many senators to contribute.

The conclusion of the debate of the general principles of the 2019 Appropriation Bill will pave the way for its reference to the Appropriation Committee for further legislative action.

Saraki also mandated the Ad-hoc Committee on the New Minimum Wage Bill to expedite action on its assignment.

He directed Senator Francis Alimikhena to take over the chairmanship of the committee in the absence of its substantive chairman, Senator Olusola Adeyeye.

The House of Representatives, which had earlier debated and approved N30, 000 as the new national minimum wage as proposed by the Federal Government, also adjourned sitting for its slain member.

The Green Chamber adjourned plenary in less than 20 minutes after resumption from the general election break.

Speaker Yakubu Dogara regretted that Nigeria was yet to move away from politically-motivated killings.

The late Olatoye represented Lagelu/Akiyele Fededal Constituency. He chaired the Committee on Urban Development & Regional Planning before his death.

Dogara also announced the death of a former member, Bethel Amadi, who also died during the break.

Amadi was former President of the Pan African Parliament between 2012 and 2015.

The Speaker, who sauntered into the chamber at about 11.35am exchanged greetings and banters with his colleagues by the aisle before assuming his seat.

After the opening prayers, he announced his approval of the last votes and proceedings after which he broke the news of the death of the two lawmakers.

He called for prayers for the repose of the souls of the departed which was said by the Chief Whip, Hassan Doguwa and Tobi Okechukwu.

Speaking with reporters after the plenary, Dogara condemned killings across the country, adding that that Nigeria should not be experiencing killings during elections.

He said: “It is unfortunate that we lost our colleague and many other Nigerian during the elections due electoral violence. This is so unfortunate for us as a nation and even for our democracy.

“We need to move away from this kind of experience to a better place as a nation, it is not helping our democracy.”

  • ‘APC broom has swept Kwara clean of hegemony politics’

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed says with the absolute victory of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Feb. 23 and March 9 general elections in Kwara, the party’s broom has swept the state clean of “hegemony politics”.

The Minister who stated this at a post election news briefing on Monday in Ilorin added that the long battle for the emancipation of Kwara had been attained with the outcome of the polls.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the Kwara APC had a clean sweep of the Presidential poll, as well as elections into the three senatorial and six House of Representative seats held on Feb. 23.

Also, the party defeated the incumbent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Governorship elections and won all the 24 seats in the Kwara State House of Assembly in the elections held on March 9.

The major upset was the defeat of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki of the (PDP) in his stronghold, Kwara Central Senatorial zone by the APC candidate, Dr. Ibrahim Oloriegbe.

Addressing the newsmen, the minister said that with the unprecedented victories, the people could confidently say that “the ‘Berlin Wall’ of Hegemony Politics in Kwara has finally fallen for good”.

“It is a great victory for all the good people of Kwara and we give all gratitude to God for this victory.

“It is beyond our power. Then, of course, we thank most sincerely the good people of Kwara.

“To the long-suffering people of Kwara, this is your victory. You worked hard for it. You made incredible sacrifices, and your efforts paid off.

“You said ‘O To Ge’ (Enough is Enough) and it came to pass. Thank you to all the good people of Kwara.

“Never again will anyone enslave you under the guise of dynasty or hegemony politics. Never Again!!!

The minister thanked the security agencies that provided the conducive atmosphere for the people to exercise their franchise without fear.

He also thanked the leadership of the party at both the state and national levels and expressed special gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his unflinching support which propelled the party to victory.

“Our victory here transcends Kwara State. It is a victory for all advocates of good governance everywhere. It is the triumph of good over evil, no matter how long it takes.

“It will forever be a reference point in the political history of Nigeria, and a hard blow to those who willfully turn the public treasury into their personal piggy bank,” he said.

The minister said that with the victories, the real work had just begun for the party because the expectations of the people were very high and they could not afford to disappoint them.

“We must ride on the wave of their enthusiasm and determination to deliver to them the dividends of democracy, for which they have been yearning.

“All our leaders, both elected and otherwise, must come together to channel the energy and vibrancy of our people to positive goals,” he said.

Mohammed recalled that the long battle for the emancipation of the state started on Nov. 17 2018, when the
party won the by-election for the Ekiti/Oke-ero/Irepodun/Isin federal constituency.

He urged party members and supporters to be magnanimous in victory, shun vindictiveness or hatred while celebrating.

“There is no room for violence of any kind. We are all Kwarans. The massive victory in Kwara State came on a
    peaceful note.

“We must maintain that and banish all the vestiges of violence from our state.

“It is a new day in Kwara State, and the sun is shining bright and beautiful once again! I thank you all for your kind attention,” he said. (NAN)

  • Bukola expresses disappointment over low turnout

Senate President Bukola Saraki has expressed disappointment over low turn-out of voters in the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in the state.

The senate president, while casting his vote on Saturday at his Ajikobi ward, Opobiyi polling units 005, said the turn-out was not impressive compared to the presidential and national assembly elections on Feb. 23.

Bukola, who arrived at his polling unit at exactly 11:08 a.m. in a blue caftan, with a cap to match, said the turn-out was low.

He said he had been inundated with too many reports of military deployment in the state which could be the reason for the low turn-out.

Commenting on card readers, the senate president said he had not received any reports of malfunctioning of the gadgets.

He added that since the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had insisted on the use of card readers, there must have been an improvement. (NAN)

  • Lai Mohammed to Kwarans: Ignore threat of attack by opposition

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has implored Kwara electorates to ignore the threat by the opposition to attack them during the Saturday’s Governorship and State Assembly elections.

The minister stated this on Thursday in Ilorin at the final rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to canvass vote for its Governorship candidate, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and other candidates.

Mohammed who is APC leader in the state, said opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), having suffered defeat in the Feb. 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections was deliberately creating panic to prevent voters from coming out.

He said the President had ordered the security agencies to deploy their men to cover the elections and protect all voters from any form of intimidation and harassment.

“There has been a lot of panic being deliberately created by the opposition having seeing the handwriting on the wall in the last elections. They want to intimidate people and prevent them from coming out to vote.

“Please do not be intimidated by anyone. Nobody can tell you not to come out to vote. Please come out en mass to vote for APC on Saturday.

“The President has given the directive to all security agents that anyone who dares to disrupt Saturday’s election action will have himself to blame.

“After voting, ensure that you wait to protect your votes until counting and accompany them to the collation centres.

`We will get our total independence from our oppressors on Saturday,” he said.

Mohammed said that the last election was the part one of “O to Ge” (Enough is Enough) and the part two is coming up on Saturday.

He said the people should use their votes to completely exit the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his lieutenants from Kwara.

The minister said that the people had been deceived for so long and they should use their vote on Saturday to get their final liberation.

  • Saboteurs won’t be allowed to lead 9th National Assembly, says Presidency

The Presidency on Wednesday disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari and his government will not allow the emergence of saboteurs in the leadership of the ninth National Assembly (NASS).

This was disclosed by a senior aide to the President on a condition of anonymity.

According to him, the President will ensure that only persons selected by the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) emerge as President of the Senate and other presiding officers of both the red and green chambers.

Even as he declared the President has no preferred candidates for the position of the principal officer of the parliament, he said that he is ready and willing to support the decision of the leadership of the party in line with worked out zoning arrangements.

He said the presidency had never had it smooth with the relationship that existed between it and the leadership of the 8th National Assembly and will therefore not sit to fold its arms while another set of unfriendly characters emerge in the next dispensation.

He said: “Be rest assured that the President will not micro-manage the process electing the National Assembly leadership but he will not allow the lawlessness that happened in 2015 to repeat itself.

“The President will allow the decision of the party to remain supreme. Once the party zones the positions, he will give maximum support to it.

“It is not like before, now, the decision of the party is supreme. You see what has happened to the two governors. In the past, this won’t have been possible.

“What I can tell you is that the President doesn’t have any preferred candidates,” he said.

At the beginning of the eight parliament, both Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, had emerged against the arrangement of the APC leadership.

  • “O To Ge’’: How I originated campaign slogan that dethroned Saraki

Every revolution starts like a seed, it grows to become an oak tree,’’ these were the words of the 79 year-old Alhaji LAK Jimoh, the originator of the campaign slogan, “O To Ge”, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara.

The septuagenarian whose LAK acronyms stand for Lazeez Ayinla Kolawole, spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on how he came about the wild fire campaign slogan, “O to Ge” which literally translates to “Enough is Enough’’.

“O To Ge’’ has been described by election observers as an impactful three words campaign slogan effectively used to end decades of political hegemony of a self-imposed dynasty in Kwara.

The observers saw the APC’s clean sweep of the Feb. 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state as an upset and a death knell for the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara politics.

In the elections, PDP unprecedentedly, lost the presidential election and the entire three Senatorial and six House of Representatives seats to the APC.

The major upset was the defeat of the senate president in his stronghold, Kwara Central Senatorial zone by the APC candidate, Dr. Ibrahim Oloriegbe.

Oloriegbe polled a total of 123,808 votes to defeat the Senate President who scored 68,994 votes in the four Local Governments Areas of Kwara Central Senatorial District.

Contrary to claims in certain quarters, Jimoh, a renowned politician in Kwara, said “O to Ge’’ movement actually started in 2010 when he was an aspirant for the Kwara Central Senatorial seat under the PDP, preparatory to the 2011 general elections.

The 1971 graduate of Political Science from the University of Lagos said he contested the seat with Saraki, but was “robbed of his mandate’’.

Before, 2010, Jimoh said he had used a similar slogan, “It Is Time For Change’’ in 1983 when he contested Kwara Governorship Primaries of the PDP which was also won by Bukola Saraki.

“This movement did not just start in 2018. Every revolution starts like a seed and with time it grows to become an oak tree.

“When I foresaw the revolution that will end the era of bad governance in Kwara, majority of the people did not see it.

“People did not see it then and I was accused of being too revolutionary but I assured them that we will ultimately get there.

“Gradually, the revolution assumed the spine and magnitude that we just saw in this year’s election, when the people used the power of vote to dethrone decades of political dynasty that had impoverished Kwara,’’ he said.

Jimoh, who left public service as Permanent Secretary in 1982 for active politics, alleged that for 40 years, Kwara was under the “government of hegemony of exploitation, massive looting of public resources and administration so insensitive to the plights of the people’’.

He explained: “Kwara is not an industrial state, it is an agrarian state but today we do not have even a Ministry of Agriculture. We do not have any thriving agricultural project at all.

“All the agric nurseries and training schools and even the land of the Ministry of Agriculture were sold out.’’

He said the media hyped multi-billion Naira Shonga Farm project by Bukola Saraki as governor of Kwara was a sham.

“Billons of Naira were pumped into the project but till today no single farm product came out of the farm till it got Moribund.

“It is all fraud. What they called Zimbabwe farmers were just farm workers who did not bring a dime to the state for investment yet they called them investors.

“It was the state government that borrowed billions of Naira from the defunct Intercontinental Bank and gave it to these people but we have nothing to show for it,’’ he said.

Jimoh said that Kwara inherited some employment creating establishments like the Jebba Paper Mill, Tate and Lile Sugar manufacturing company in Bacita and the British Morris Tobacco Company, which had all collapsed because of hostile economic atmosphere.

He alleged that the state owned Trade Bank, was liquidated simply because the management was not cooperating with political authority to use the Bank for looting of resources.

Jimoh said under the watchful eyes of the past administrations also, state owned Gateway Insurance Company, Kwara Express and Kwara Hotels folded up.

He said the state had witnessed a total decay of infrastructure, ranging from bad roads, poor health delivery system, collapse of environmental sanitation and educational system.

“When I saw all these, I said we must not continue in that way and allow these people to destroy the state.

“Then, I said, “O to Ge, Enough is Enough. We must rise against the misrule and slavery,’’ he said.

Jimoh said the maladministration started having significant impact on the people when it was extended to the civil service when workers, pensioners and the common man started feeling the pinch.

He said the civil service which ought to be the engine room of government was politicised and turned to rubber stamp.

Jimoh said some Level 12 officers with political godfathers were being appointed as Permanent Secretaries above their seniors thereby, dampening the morale of workers

He said the situation got so bad that government could no longer pay salaries of civil servants as well as gratuities and pensions of retirees.

“With reckless looting of the state’s treasury and siphoning of government money to individual pockets, the government could not pay salaries of civil servants.

“The entitlements of retirees after 35 years of active service to the state were not paid and they were regularly being called for screening during which many of them died

“In 2008, the Bukola Saraki government borrowed N3.3 billion from Intercontinental Bank to settle the accumulated arrears of benefits of Kwara retirees.

“When the government received the money, a committee set up for the disbursement recommended that 50 per cent of the money be used for the pensioners while the balance be used for the development of infrastructure.’’

Jimoh said the pensioners challenged the legality of the government’s decision to use the money borrowed to settle their entitlements for development of infrastructure.

He said the matter got to the Supreme Court and many of the pensioners were yet to be paid.

Jimoh said the Local Government Administration was not left out in the maladministration with the Joint Account System which had left the Councils unproductive.

He said the cumulative effects of decades of bad governance led to the mass action and revolution fuelled by “O to Ge movement that witnessed the end of the Saraki grip on Kwara politics.

“It is not just about campaign because the people of Kwara decided that they want a change of government because they were tired of the old order.

“What we have achieved today is the collective efforts of all Kwarans who wear the shoes and know where they pinch,’’ he said.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who is the APC leader in Kwara shared the view of Jimoh that the liberation of Kwara from the grip of a crippling hegemony was a collective effort of all Kwarans.

The minister recently said at an event in Abuja: “I must stress and I have said this that the credit for the liberation of Kwara goes to the good people of the state who, in spite of efforts to compromise them, refused to sell their votes.

“A simple slogan, O To Ge (Enough is Enough), captured the determination of the people to vote out those who have held them down for decades. And that
    is precisely what they did.

“The victory in Kwara was achieved in the sweetest way. The election was conducted in an atmosphere of peace and security.

“No single shot was fired throughout Kwara. No one snatched ballot box. It was an atmosphere of conviviality. It was a sharp departure from what used to be in the state.

“It confirms what we have been saying, that when there is adequate security, there will be a level playing ground for all the parties, and for all Kwarans,’’ he said.

The minister, however, appealed that the job was not completed yet, until March 9, the date for the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

He urged everyone to come out en masse to vote for all APC candidates and make it another free, fair, credible and peaceful election.

Mohammed urged the voters to ignore the threat by the opposition to disrupt the Saturday’s poll assuring that the government would provide adequate security to protect them.

He said they got the information that the opposition were planning to unleash political thugs to attack and intimidate voters during the Saturday’s poll.

“We have been hearing a lot of things that the opposition has imported a lot of thugs to Kwara to disrupt Saturday’s elections.

“If anyone does so, he or she will be risking his or her life.’’

He reassured the people that the Federal Government would provide adequate security for all during the elections scheduled for Saturday.
