  • CAC Oke-Iye celebrates at 50

President of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Worldwide, Pastor Abraham Akinosun, has appealed to Christians to make Christ alone their rock.

He said those who depend on anything outside Christ are not believers or worthy of the Kingdom.

Akinosun spoke at the 50th anniversary of CAC Oke-Iye in Lagos with the theme “discovering God’s personality.”

Speaking on Christ our rock at the CAC Oke-Iye District Headquarters, Akinosun said: “Being an unshakable foundation that He is, only the home, house, life built on the Rock, which is our Christ, can stand forever during storms.

“But other house that is not built on the rock is bound to be destroyed. Let us trust in Him and see Him as our strong tower.”

He went on: “The Rock is a God that never changes. He is the rock that is with us when we walk in the valleys of death.

“Only put all your trust in Him because He is our confidence, security and our rock of ages.”

The District Superintendent, Pastor Emmanuel Odugbesan, charged all members to “guard the evangelical traditions we inherited not only in CAC mission but also in the Christendom.”

He called on the church to increase its mission efforts, saying “we are in an age when we church must think and plan strategically before we are swallowed up by the forces that are arrayed against us.”

  • 26 years after, CAC crisis nears end

Hope is rising on the final reconciliation of the 26-year old crisis in the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) fold.

The warring factions that had been at logger heads with the mainstream General Executive Council (GEC) met at the Pastors’ conference recently.

The Pentecostal Church had been in crisis since 1990 when its leadership dismissed some Pastors including late Prophet Timothy Obadare, Pastors J.O Adegoroye N.E Udofia, J.A Akintola and P. Alayo over alleged anti-church activities.

The aggrieved factions went to court for resolution of the disputes, the last of which favoured the GEC adjudged as the authentic ruling body of the church.

Also, the criminal case against its leaders was resolved in their favour when the Federal High Court, Ibadan dismissed the suit.

However, a delegation of the Supreme Council led by Pastor Henry Ojo visited Ikeji-Akeji conference for a solidarity re-union where he delivered the message of their leaders to the GEC.

Among those in the delegation are Pastors Henry Ojo from Port- Harcourt, James Onagwa and Matthew Olaseinde while another team was led by Pastor Paul Obadare of World Soul Winning Evangelistic Ministry (WOSEM).

Ojo appreciated the rousing welcome accorded them at the confence, stressing the delegation acted on directives of the Supreme Council faction.

He said it was high time the CAC put an end to the protracted crisis, pleading for reciprocal visit by the GEC to Supreme Council Pastors’ conference at Alasepe Camp Ground, Ikire.

Obadare urged all factions to reconcile to fulfill the CAC’s motto “one fold and one shepherd”.

Akinosun expressed happiness for the visit by the other factions, stressing the crisis was a sad commentary on the church.

According to him: “I have always believed that court cannot be the best alternative to solve the problems within the CAC.

“All human efforts to unite the church using human wisdom had failed but God had resolved to end the crisis in His own time.”

Akinosun promised the delegations if the church finally reconciled, no one would lose its status or ranking.

The 2017 edition of the yearly three-day God of Mercy programme of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Mountain of Mercy, Erio Ekiti will hold between today and Friday on Erio Mountain, Erio Ekiti, Ekiti State.

•Church to wipe out indiscipline among pastors, others

A newly appointed General Evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church, (CAC) Worldwide, Prophet Hezekiah Oladeji, has said his priority is to restore the church to its former glorious days and stamp out indiscipline among pastors and church members.

The evangelist, who is the founder of CAC Canaanland Ministries, said he would use his new position to clear what he called the rot in the home and overseas branches of the church.

The cleric said his tenure would witness the rebirth of evangelism, which he describes as the hallmark of the church.

Addressing reporters at the weekend, Oladeji said: “When real revival begins, the seeming division in the church will fizzle out. Those who have left will return and the church will, in unity, forge ahead to achieve its mission of winning souls for Christ and setting free those in bondage for peace and prosperity to reign.”

According to him, any cleric of the church found guilty of infidelity, fraud and divisive tendencies would be disciplined.

This, he said, had become necessary to stop such persons from further dragging the name of the church’s founding fathers through the mud.

Oladeji said: “Whoever is caught will be dealt with. It is either you change from your old bad ways and remain with us you make a decision.”

The cleric regretted that those he called pretenders embraced the work of clergy or gospel music out of lack of white-collar jobz or as a result of business failures and the downturn in the economy.

He said it was unfortunate that such people kept claiming that God called them.

Oladeji said: “These are the types of people who often cleverly found their ways into different churches and give such churches bad names. I will join hands with other leaders of our church to return it to what it used to be.

“It is my conviction that the problems confronting Nigeria are surmountable but the fight against such problems must start from the churches and homes.”

The cleric predicted that Nigeria will soon regain its lost glory because of the prayers of many godly Nigerians.

The new general evangelist succeeds Prophet Kayode Abiara of CAC’s Agbala Itura, who is retiring after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 75.

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has registered 76,491 limited liability companies between last July 1 and June this year.

It also registered 91,609 business names and 10,003 incorporated trustees under parts A, B and Act of its Act.

The CAC said it struck off 38,717 companies and liquidated 77 others for not meeting their statutory obligations.

The commission’s Registrar-General Bello Mahmud, while reviewing its activities in the past year, said company registration activity witnessed progressice increase since the launch of the Companies Registration Portal (CRP).

Bello said CAC has achieved almost all the targets of the National Action Plan set by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council towards improving Nigeria’s standing on the global ease of doing business index, especially on business registration timeline.

He said CAC’s collaboration with the Federal Inland Revenue on electronic stamping means memorandum and articles of association can be submitted and stamped online, thereby saving customers the stress of physical submission of documents at the stamp duty office.

Bello called for the review of the CAC Act to reflect developments in the global economy and to address challenges in companies’ administration and regulation.

“Considering the extensive nature of this proposed review which is covering about 200 sections, we are proposing a re-enactment of the Act.

“Some of the new areas of focus include framework for Business Rescue and Recovery Process, provision for company with single shareholder and director, and the concept of beneficial ownership.

“The proposed amendment which attracted inputs from the Nigerian Bar Assoctiation (NBA) and other relevant stakeholders is before the National Assembly and is being reviewed by a Technical Committee put together for that purpose.

“The main objective of the review is to strengthen the regulatory and enforcement capacities of the Commission to effectively discharge its functions and thus promote global best practices and good corporate governance in the management and operations of Companies, Business Names and Incorporated Trustees,” Bello said.
