    Plateau elders endorse Mutfwang’s inclusive, transformative governance

    The Elders of Plateau State have endorsed the pragmatic leadership of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, aimed at fostering unity and inclusive governance for the rapid transformation of the state.

    This was revealed during a luncheon at the Banquet Hall, New Government House, Rayfield Jos, where the respected citizens expressed their views on security and good governance under Governor Mutfwang.

    Former Military Governor of the State, Rear Admiral Samuel Bitrus Atikum, applauded Governor Mutfwang for initiating governance on a sincere and inclusive note. He highlighted the Governor’s holistic approach to road construction and rehabilitation in the Jos/Bukuru Metropolis, considering all communities without bias.

    Admiral Atikum praised the Governor’s determination, resilience, and forthright thinking in addressing the myriad of security challenges in the state.

    He called for the support of elders across ethnic and party lines to win the war against insecurity and called on the governor to set aside party affiliations and continue governance with an even development approach.

    Former Governors of the state, Sen. Joshua Chibi Dariye, Sen. Jonah David Jang, and Sen. Simon Bako Lalong, commended Governor Mutfwang’s initiatives to unite the people and foster development for the state’s growth and prosperity.

    Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has assured Nigerians that the security situation in the state has significantly improved compared to last year, although challenges remain. 

    Speaking with journalists after a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Lagos residence on Friday, Mutfwang described the progress as promising, but acknowledged that it is “not 100%.”

    “The update on the Plateau is that things are getting better. Security-wise, certainly we are better off this year than we were last year,” the governor stated. 

    He highlighted a combination of efforts, including enhanced technology, community mobilization, and proactive measures by security forces, as key drivers of the improvement.

    Reflecting on the strides made, Mutfwang noted that Plateau State, which mourned during the holiday season in 2023, was able to celebrate Christmas this year with “relative peace.”

    However, he admitted that isolated incidents still occur, emphasizing the need for sustained vigilance.

    “With the support of Mr. President, I can assure you that we are not going to take our foot off the pedal. We are going to make sure that we cross the Ts and dot the Is as far as security is concerned,” he said.

    Mutfwang also used the opportunity to encourage investment in Plateau State, expressing confidence in the state’s improving climate for business. 

    “We want to assure our people and give confidence to Nigerians, particularly those who want to come and invest on the Plateau. The environment is good, and I believe that 2025 will be a better year,” he said.

    The governor’s visit to President Tinubu was also an opportunity to brief him on Plateau’s progress and discuss other state matters. 

    “The President has been very concerned about the security situation on the Plateau,” Mutfwang said, adding that Tinubu’s support has been instrumental in the state’s journey towards stability.

    Mutfwang signs MoU to lift Plateau Hotel to international standard

    PLATEAU State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang has entered into a formal agreement with Aviare Global Concepts Limited to reconstruct Plateau Resort and Hotels Limited to international standard.

    In a statement by his spokesman, Dr Gyang Bere, the ambitious project is aimed at revitalizing the state’s tourism sector and significantly boosting internally generated revenue.

    The agreement, known as the Heads of Terms, was signed at the Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja. Representing the Plateau State Government was the Managing Director of the Plateau Investment and Property Development Company (PIPC), Hon. Danlami Jelka, alongside the Chairman of Aviare Global Concepts Limited, Mr. Kudla Satumari. The signing was overseen by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.

    In his remarks, Governor Mutfwang expressed delight at ending the years of neglect that have plagued Plateau State’s legacy properties. The governor emphasised the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the revitalisation of the Plateau Hotel.

    “I want to start by thanking all members of the private sector for the confidence and trust they have shown. It was a moment of pride when we signed the MoU for the reconstruction of Hill Station Hotel, and today, we have taken another significant step with the MoU for Plateau Hotels.”

    “We have numerous assets that have remained underutilised for years, and now we are turning them around for the better. I’m pleased to see the hospitality sector in Plateau State proving to be resilient and attractive. Restoring the symbol of our pride is a commendable achievement,” he added.

    Mutfwang explained that the reconstruction effort will not only enhance the state’s beauty but also attract tourists seeking quality accommodation in Plateau State. He reiterated his administration’s dedication to fostering a business-friendly environment.

    Hon. Danlami Jelka, Managing Director of PIPC stated that upon completion, the hotel will adhere to international standards, thereby elevating the hospitality offerings of the state.

    He said both parties agreed that the lease term shall be an initial 20 years commencing from the date of the Refurbishment, Rehabilitation, Operation and Transfer.

    Mr. Kudla Satumari, Chairman of Aviare Global Concepts Limited, said his company has an impressive 31-year track record of successful national and international projects and assured the state of his commitment to deliver quality results.

    “I have never failed to meet my targets, and I am committed to completing this project to the admiration of all. I urge the Plateau State Government to offer the necessary support to ensure we meet the agreed specifications and timelines.”

    This marks a new chapter for Plateau State, as the administration continues to leverage private sector partnerships to harness the state’s tourism potential. General Manager, Plateau State Tourism Corporation, Mr. Chuwang Pwajok was part of the signatories to the Heads of Terms.

    Plateau Governor Caleb Mutfwang has approved a minor reshuffle of his cabinet to enhance effective service delivery.

    Hon. Noel Nkup, the Commissioner for Water Resources and Energy will now serve as the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development.

    Hon. Bashir Lawandi Datti, who previously held the position of Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, has been reassigned as the Commissioner for Water Resources and Energy.

    In a statement by his spokesman Gyang Bere, the Governorsaid that the changes take immediate effect.

    Mutfwang suspends two Commissioners, two Special Advisers

    Plateau Governor Caleb Mutfwang has approved the immediate suspension of four key officials.

    The affected officials include Hon. Chrysanthus Dawam, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning and Hon. Jamila Tukur, Commissioner for Tourism, Culture, and Hospitality.

    Also affected is Hon. Dio Lamul, Special Adviser on Rural Development and Hon. Moses Sule, Liaison Officer for Mikang Constituency.

    This was contained in a statement by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, Gyang Bere.

    It said the suspensions take immediate effect

    No reason was given for their suspension but it may not be unconnected with the recently concluded PDP local government primaries which was fraught with violence and crisis.

    Mutfwang restates commitment to tackle malaria in Plateau

    Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has restated his administration’s commitment to fighting malaria across the state.

    Mutfwang stated this while flagging-off the distribution of 2.9 million treated mosquito nets in the state.

    Represented by his deputy, Mrs Josephine Piyo, the governor reiterated his commitment toward ensuring access to quality and affordable health care services in the state.

    He added that such a move, among other initiatives, informed his decision to invest huge sums of money in the health sector towards better results.

    “In alignment with national efforts, the Plateau State Government, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health, the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), and other partners, including the US President’s Malaria Initiative, has intensified its drive to increase access to durable and cost-effective treated mosquito nets, as it is pivotal in preventing mosquito-borne malaria.

    “Today, we launch the distribution of over 2.9 million nets across 1,080 distribution points, spanning our state’s 325 wards, the health and lives of our citizens remain a priority of the present administration.

    “Our collective investment in this campaign underscores our commitment to reducing Plateau State’s malaria burden from 19% to single digits and ultimately eliminating it”.

    The Governor implored citizens to take advantage of the opportunity to protect themselves from malaria by embracing the campaign and use the nets consistently.

    Palliative: Mutfwang introduces Tin City Metro bus

    Plateau Governor Caleb Mutfwang has introduced an intra-city bus service known as Tin City Metro Bus service to ease transportation challenges.

    The intra-city bus service said to be subsidised by 50% is meant to ease intra-city movement of citizens to cushion the effect of the high cost of transportation occasioned by the removal of the petroleum subsidy.

    Secretary to the State Government Arch Samuel Jatau who disclosed this to Journalists in Jos said: “Already, 14 brand new Luxury buses acquired from Germany have already been delivered to us, we have mapped the routes, and we are trying to clear the city center Terminus to make movement easy for the buses.

    “The Tin city metro is meant to reduce the hardship faced by citizens. Transportation is one of the critical sector the people need daily. And so this government consider transportation as one of the way it can deliver palliative at this hard times.

    General Manager Plateau Express Service Samuel Gut said: “The buses will cover routes like Anglo D – Vom, Polo roundabout to Bukuru, Terminus-Zawan, British America -JUTH, Terminus – Rayfield, Terminuy-Tudunwada-Lowcost-Wirldlife Park, Terminus-Bauchi road- Faringada and also British America -Angwan Rukuba-ring road.

    “The transport fare is N200.00 to anywhere you want to go on Jos city particularly the routes listed above.

    “It may interest you to know that the state government is subsidizing the cards and fares by fifty per cent, either far or near the cards go for N200. Also, this is not an elitist approach, but this is the best and safest approach to adopt for control purposes.

    “To get the cards definitely will not be a problem because there’s going to be points of sale within the state capital. For a start, we are taking eight routes, but I can assure you that the Governor Caleb Muftwang-led administration will increase the number of buses as time goes on.”

    Mutfwang reinstates 3,879 suspended Plateau workers

    Plateau Governor Caleb Mutfwang has reinstated 3,879 civil servants employed by the immediate past administration of Simon Lalong.

    The reinstatement of the workers was contained in a statement by the Secretary to the Government of Plateau State Arch Samuel Nanchang Jatau, in Jos.

    According to the statement, the 3,879 reinstated civil servants cut across 42 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) whose employment was carried out under the supervision of the State Civil Service Commission as well as the Office of the Head of Civil Service.

    This has finally puts to rest months of back and forth on the qualification of those employed, and authenticity of the process through which the workers were employed.

    The Government suspended the entire employment in June 2023 pending investigation and recommendation by a white paper committee set up to look into the process in accordance with civil service procedure.

    The statement upheld the cancellation of the employments done by tertiary Institutions under the last administration and ordered the immediate commencement of processes for fresh employment in the affected institutions.

    Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has said he does not deserved to be a governor, but it pleases God to bestowed me the honour.

    Mutfwang stated this during an Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service held at Rwang Pam Township Stadium Jos to thank God for his political victory at the polls and at the Supreme court.

    The governor said: “I give gratitude to God, the one who know how to dethrone kings and enthrone kings. The God who opened the door and no man can shut. And the one who shot the door no man can open.

    “I give thanks to God for single me out of the Mutfwang family to lead the people of Plateau state. It’s an honour I do not take for granted. I appreciate this honor because I don’t deserve it. It has pleased God almighty to bestowed this honor on me, I therefore say thank you you to God.

    “I also appreciate the people of Plateau state, that you agreed with God to bring to this position of honour. If you had not agreed with God you would not have voted for us. You voted for us joyfully and willingly with no inducement to do so. I am whom I am today because you people cooperate with God to make me your leader.

    “I thank you for standing with us in the last seven months of trial. I tell you the truth, I almost gave up at some point. But God reassured us. I believe whatever gid has started, he will perfect it. And today we have the testimony of the faithfulness of God.

    “I thank you those who stood with us in the place of prayers. I saw Plateau people devoted to this struggle in prayers. If not for prayers, the enemies would have swept us off. The conspiracy and the gang us was huge, but because we knew we can thrust God in prayers. 

    “The mammoth crowned I’m seeing today is an indication to me that the expectations are high. And I know I have nothing to offer you on these expectations, but with God all things are possible. The same God that delivered us this far will never fail us. With two slice of bread and a fish, God fed thousands and there were leftover.”
