  • APC chieftain reiterates commitment to Oshodi-Isolo

    A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State and the Chief Executive Officer of Nicities Nigeria Limited, Oluwole Eweoya, has assured the people of Oshodi-Isolo of his determination to channel his resources towards the development of the area.

    Eweoya, who spoke during his tour of the various projects he had executed in the community, said he would continue to embark on projects that would improve the quality of life and economy of the people.

    The APC chieftain lauded the people for appreciating his initiatives, which have highlighted his sense of vision, innovation and concern for them.

    The legal luminary, who had at various occasions donated and commissioned water projects, health and safety materials and signage among others to schools in the community, have had his contributions recognized and applauded by the Lagos State Government, Mafoluku Senior Grammar School, Oshodi and Afolabi Nursery and Primary School, Oshodi among others.

    Eweoya said what the people need most is quality education, good healthcare system, good roads and employment opportunities for the youths. He assured them that  he would remain committed to the the good works that had endeared him to the generality of the people.

    He promised to do more for Oshodi-Isolo community, because he was born and brought up there.

    His words: “I was born here in Oshodi, had my primary and secondary education here and nothing stops me from ploughing back into the community part of what I have achieved in life because the opportunity given me by the community to have the early stage of my life here.

    Group visits ailing nonagenarian Kebbi APC chieftain

    A group, the “Asiwaju Change Movement (ACM)” has visited the Kebbi State All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Hajiya Fatimatu Mai Talle Tara, who is recuperating from illness in Koko, her home town.

    The 95-year old woman took ill, following his return from Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where she had gone to witness the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29.

    The group’s National Coordinator, Mrs. Simisola Ayoade said  the team was in Koko to show concern for her welfare, owing to her support for the APC and its presidential candidate during electioneering campaigns.

    The National Co-ordinator, who was accompanied by the  Abuja Co-ordinator,  Sambo Sadiq, said the group and the APC in general loves Hajiya Mai Talle Tara and wishes her a very quick recovery.

    Mrs. Simisola also presented a gift of clothing materials as Sallah package and an undislosed amount of money to the patient on behalf of the  group.

    Responding on behalf of the family, one of Hajiya Fatima Mai Talle Tara’s grandson, Abubakar Lawal, thanked the group for showing  concern for the APC chieftain’s welfare.

    Lawal said his grandmother fell sick after she retuyrned from Abuja, for the swearing-in ceremony of President Muhammadu Buhari.

    He said Hajiya Fatima suffered stroke, adding that the Kebbi State Government was planning to fly her abroad for medical treatment after Sallah.

    Hajiya Tara Koko was the 95 years old woman who presented her life savings of N1 million to President Muhammadu Buhari, prior to the March 28 election.

    APC chieftain donates food items to Muslims

    A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Board of Trustees (BOT), Alhaji Jamiu Ekungba has donated rams and bags of rice worth millions of Naira to Muslim members in the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.

    He said the gesture was to help Muslim families to have fruitful celebration during the just-concluded Eid-el Adha festival.

    Ekungba said the gesture was a way of giving back to the society which he said he has benefited from.

    The BOT member, who is also a governorship aspirant of the party, however, assured residents of bright future.

    Ekungba stated that there was no hiding place for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government in Ondo State as all its antics and persuasive strategies are now known to the people.

    He said the Labour Party-turned PDP can no longer deceive the people in next year’s governorship election.

    The APC chieftain also said the future of Nigeria is now secure under the present APC-administration.

    He said: “Every Nigerian that is reasonable, that loves the country has seen the direction we are going under APC than the PDP.”

    He noted that indigenes of Ondo State have no option than to look for a party that will restructure and rebuild the state for development to thrive.

    Ekungba, who said the APC remains the only party that could salvage the people from the purposeless government of the PDP, urged the APC to ensure that it does not only present a credible candidate but also a candidate that understands the economy of the state.

    He lamented that the state has no reason to be bankrupt, saying an oil-producing state such as Ondo should be financially buoyant.

    “The chances of the APC in the coming election are very bright; we thank God that he has made it obvious to everybody that Labour Party-turned PDP government has nowhere to hide again.

    “Every antics and strategies of cajoling our people have become clear to everybody. Nobody can be deceived again in Ondo State.

    “That is why we are urging the APC to ensure that it does not just present a very credible candidate, but must also have a candidate that understands the economy of the state.

    “It is unimaginable that the state is bankrupt; an oil-producing state cannot pay salary. So, we must present somebody who understands the economy and who will be able to restore its glory,” Ekungba said.

  • Chieftain donates building to party

    A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Chief Femi Adekanmbi, has donated a multi-million Naira storey-building in Owo town for the use of members of the party.

    Adekanmbi explained that the building, which has been equipped with modern facilities, would enhance the mobilisation and membership drive of the state chapter of the PDP.

    He said: “Recent developments in the state have shown that the PDP is increasing in membership, commitment and activities, especially in the Northern Senatorial District.

    “The least that a supportive leader can do for his party at this time is to ensure that this spirit is encouraged.”

    To this end, the politician said he thought it right to provide a rallying point that will be convenient for meetings, planning, grassroots mobilisation, coordinating and other forms of administrative responsibilities of officers of the party.

    He said the facility will further encourage the spread and appreciation of the party in the state, especially in the Northern Senatorial District.

    He said: “Recent activities in the state had shown that warring factions have resolved their differences and have decided to work together to build the party, hence our philanthropic gesture would make the party to continue to grow stronger in all seasons and weather.”

    He noted that there are still more efforts to be made to further boost the acceptability of the party ahead of the state governorship election next year.

    He urged that the party should be re-launched with adequate facilities in an atmosphere conducive enough to ensure great success.

    A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Rahman Mogbolahan Dawodu has organised free medical screening for the people in Itire-Ikate area, Surulere, Lagos.

    Otherwise known as RMD, Dawodu said the gesture was part of his commitment towards community service.

    The chairmanship aspirant said it was a means of giving back to the society.

    “Our health is the greatest wealth we can possess. We all know that these days, there are lots of health challenges, many of which we do not really know them until they are fully developed. The best we can do is to screen ourselves regularly so as to check how healthy we are”.

    APC chieftain lauds Amosun on creation of local govts

    Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Olamikekan Bakare has praised Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s plan to create additional  councils.

    He said the initiative will speed up development and enhance grassroots politics. Bakare, who  hails from Imobi, Ijebu East District, said the existing local governments are inadequate to enhance the quality of life.

    He said: “I so much believe in the governor’s initiative because breaking the local government areas into smaller units will definitely allow developments to spread to the rural areas which to me, mean that the governor has his people at mind and it is a welcome development.”

    Bakare urged members of the National Assembly to work for the progress of the country to avoid electoral protest by voters.

    He said: “Our senators and members of the House of Representatives should stop playing politics at this period when Nigerians are expecting good governance as promised by the APC government. The nation’s interest should be more paramount to the legislators than their personal interests.

    “Our legislators must be serious and get set for business of governance rather than fighting unnecessary cause, Nigerians are full of expectations of good governance as promised by the APC government. And I expect our people to have prepared themselves for this course. Our party, APC must not fail Nigerians because it’s the hope of the nation at this period.”

    Bakare advised Nigerians to be patient with the President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that his six weeks in office has brought more improvement to the country.

    PDP chieftain, 12 others shot dead in Benue

    Unknown gunmen yesterday shot dead a Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) chieftain, Chief Atoza Hidan in Katsina Ala, Benue State..

    Also shot dead around Yoyo District in the town were12 other people after an attack the gunmen launched on the settlement. According to an eyewitness Chief Hidan was shot while inspecting a work done at his building near the Federal Low Cost Housing estate in Katsina Ala.

    He was said to have been killed in the presence of his police orderly and his assistant, who were with him at the site of the building project.

    The gunmen were said to have arrived on a motorcycle and immediately opened fire on the Second Republic lawmaker who was sitting under a tree.

    He was said to have been shot in the head by the gunmen who fled immediately, giving him no room to survive.

    The killing of Chief Hidan brought to seven the number of PDP members killed by unknown gunmen in Katsina Ala in recent times.

    The son of the late politician and the immediate past commissioner for commerce and industry, Terfa Hidan, described the death of his father as shocking and unfortunate .

    In a telephone interview with The Nation, the son of the deceased described his father as an easy going man and wondered the motive behind his killing .

    Police spokesman, DSP Austine Ezeala, confirmed the incident, saying that 14 persons had been arrested with armed and ammunition in Makurdi in the last one week .

    As muslims all over the world celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Niyi Adeagbo, has urged people to embrace peace and forgive one another as done during the holy month of Ramadan.

    The security expert in his sallah statement made available in his Otu, Itesiwaju country home, said that it was by embracing peace that the society could be better off, adding that people should imbibe what they learned during the just concluded holy month of Ramadan.

    He said: “People should forgive each other and be united in a positive cause. By so doing, the much needed developmental projects would trickle in. We should continue to live in unity. Ramadan teaches patience, love, humility, forgiveness and unity.”

    He urged people to continue to support Governor Abiola Ajimobi in his quest to continue the developmental strides in all facets of life in the state.

  • Kidnapped Abia PDP chieftain freed

    A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Mr. Israel Mark, who was kidnapped last week by unidentified gunmen has been released.

    Mark was kidnapped last Monday near his residence on Ozumba Street, Aba, while returning from work.

    A source who pleaded for anonymity said the PDP chieftain was dropped at an undisclosed location in Osisioma, some kilometers away from the commercial city.

    In a related development, Police officers from Ndiegoro Division last week foiled the attempted kidnap of an Aba based lawyer, Emeka Uwakolam.

    It was gathered that the abductors whisked the lawyer away in his Mercedes ML 320 but were double-crossed by a police patrol at the Ndiegoro jurisdiction.

    Police spokesman Ezekiel Onyeke, confirming the incident said the police engaged the hoodlums in a cross fire and overpowered them. The hoodlums however pushed their victim out of the car and escaped.

    Onyeke said persons hit by stray bullet were recuperating in an undisclosed hospital in Aba, adding that Uwakolam’s car had been recovered from where it was abandoned at Abayi Community Hall.

    He added that a Honda Element with blood stains was recovered.

    A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Hon. Dipo Okeyomi, has enjoined Lagos residents to support the incoming administration of the governor-elect, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, adding that the society would be better off if individuals support government efforts.

    He urged privileged members of the society not to abandon the task of nation-building to the government alone.

    The President and founder of Change Agent International, made the remark during while presenting empowerment items for residents of Ojokoro community in Ijaiye Local Government Area.

    He gave a boost to tourism in the community when he provided visas to some of the residents to travel to Dubai. The beneficiaries were to understudy how the oil-rich area became a global tourist centre after which they would return to the country to open up the tourism potential in the community. The beneficiaries cut across tribal groups in the country.

    “It is imperative for every resident of Lagos State to support the incoming administration of Mr. Ambode because the task of taking the state to the next level should not be left to the government alone. It is important that privileged members of the society should support the efforts of government by coming up with creative ideas that will bring development to their various communities. This is what we are doing in Ojokoro to improve the living standard of the residents.

    “The beneficiaries are expected to serve as change agents when they return. They will retrain and broaden the minds of the people of the communities and fashion out ways of replicating some of the ideas they garnered in Dubai in the communities.

    “The aim is to open up the community towards opportunities that are capable of enhancing the living standard of the residents. We have outlined different programmes that we would be carrying out from time to time to improve the lives of the people. The aspect of tourism is just one of these plans,” he said.

    The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to Hon. Okeyomi for the gesture, even as they promised not to abuse the opportunity.

    “I am delighted to be among the beneficiaries. I never imagined that I would have the opportunity to travel outside the country to acquire knowledge that would improve my life and the community.

    “The future of Ojokoro is certainly bright with somebody such as Hon. Okeyomi, Dora Ifeyinwa said.
