2016 Legislative summit: Reps name Dana Air official airline
Dana Air has been announced as the official airline of the House Representatives 2016 Legislative Summit on Sustainable Development Goals, scheduled to hold on the 22nd and 23rd of November 2016, at the NASS Complex, Abuja.This year’s summit with the theme ‘Understanding and Stimulating Legislative Roles and Responsibility in Achieving the Sustainable Goals in Nigeria,’ is a 2-day Summit organised in partnership with 1stDevHub Nigeria and other relevant international development and SDGs Advocate.According to the Accountable Manager of Dana Air, Mr Obi Mbanuzuo, ‘’we are proud to have been announced as choice airline for this year’s summit and as always; we will give our best to provide a comfortable and hitch-free flight services to all the delegates.’’Commenting on the initiative, Mrs Christina Ude, Consultant to the House Committee on the SDGs and Team Lead expressed delight at the partnership and that “the world today is more interconnected than ever before and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can only be realized with a strong commitment to national and global partnership” she said.Speaking further , 1st DevHub Nigeria’s Senior Partner and Coordinator of the Summit, Kenneth Nwokoro mentioned that this year’s Summit is focused on improving Legislators understanding of the SDGs and how their roles impact on the attainment of the Goals in Nigeria. He stated that Mr Thomas Gass, United Nations Assistant Secretary General for Economic and Social Affairs is confirmed as the keynote speaker, Professor Kevin Urama of the African Development Bank, Abidjan will chair the event while His Excellency, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is expected as the distinguished Guest of Honour.Dana Air is the only domestic airline to have undergone an operational audit conducted by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, (NCAA) and its foreign partners, The Flight Safety Group. Dana gets award
Dana Air has bagged the best customer service airline award. This is the third time the airline would be clinching the award since 2014.
The award, according to a statement by the airline, was for its consistent efforts at improving customer experience, onboard hospitality and innovative online products.
The Nigeria Customer Service Award is the prestigious annual awards that celebrate service excellence in Nigeria, by recognising companies that deliver effective and exceptional customer services.
Commenting on the award, Dana Air Accountable Manager, Mr Obi Mbanuzuo, said: “Our teeming guests recognise and appreciate our exceptional customer–oriented services, both on ground and in-flight; and we are committed to providing excellent passenger-experience whenever we have the slightest opportunity.”

Security personnel foils attempt to take firearms onboard
Security personnel belonging to DANA Air on Tuesday foiled an attempt by a passenger; who is a para – military personnel to take firearms on board a Lagos – Abuja flights without subjecting the ammunition to the standard operating procedures.
According to sources, the para – military personnel was supposed to have handed over and registered the firearms to aviation security personnel on hand; who in turn will check such firearm into the aircraft.
Sources hinted that the para – military personnel had unknowingly reached the boarding area with the guns before security personnel belonging to DANA Air requested that he submitted them for the required registration and check – in procedure.
Sequel to compliance with the prescribed aviation security procedures, the para- military personnel had to join the next flight to Abuja.
Confirming the incident, corporate communications manager, DANA Air, Kingsley OKWUDILI Ezenwa said the airline’s security only prevailed on the passenger to comply with the required safety rules.
He said the incident was a fallout of lack of knowledge of the required rule by the passenger.
“The para – military personnel ought to have handed over his gun, but he did not know what to do. So, our security personnel insisted that the guns be documented by aviation security personnel of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, who are expected to profile the passenger and assist with the check in.
“Flowing from the incident, we insisted that the passenger joins the next flight to Abuja.”

Dana Air begins daily flights between Lagos, Owerri
- Sets N12, 600 as introductory fare
Dana Air has commenced daily flights from Lagos to Owerri with an introductory online fare of N12,600 one way. The airline currently operates daily flights to Abuja, Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Uyo and is set to extend its operations to other cities in Nigeria as part of its strategic route expansion plans.The Accountable Manager of Dana Air, Mr Obi Mbanuzuo, while addressing newsmen in Lagos, said the airline is committed to providing safe, reliable and pocket friendly service to the flying public. Obi also expressed appreciation to the airlines’ guests, partners and other stakeholders in the aviation industry for their support and patronage, and advised them to take advantage of the online fare, which he said was part of the airlines’ way of appreciating its teeming guests for their loyalty on the airline’s existing route network.“We commenced daily flights from Lagos to Owerri and back with an online fare we feel will be suitable for all. If these charges can be merged or eliminated, it will help the present situation of airlines. As it stands, airlines pay a statutory charge, which is fine, but some other charges, which the airlines need to grapple with, are not even applicable in other climes.’’Presently, airlines peg fares in Naira and have to pay for necessary maintenance in hard currency, Obi added. DANA Air to resume daily flights to Owerri July
Dana Air on Wednesday said it will recommence scheduled flight operations from Lagos to the Sam Mbakwe International Airport, Owerri, effective July 11, 2016.
The airline disclosed this in a statement signed by its spokesman, Mr Kingsley Ezenwa in Lagos.
According to Ezenwa, the addition of Owerri brings the current route network coverage of the airline to five destinations –. They include: Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Uyo and Owerri.
‘’We are greatly delighted to extend our operations to Owerri,’’ said Obi Mbanuzuo, Accountable Manager of Dana Air.
Speaking further, he said Owerri is fast becoming a hub in Nigeria, and we feel very proud to once again extend our award winning service to the good people of Owerri, as we look forward to expanding our operations even further.’’
Obi, while assuring business and leisure travelers of pocket-friendly fares, said: from July, 11 2016, we will operate one daily flight from Lagos to Owerri with a return flight.
Commenting further, Obi said the weekend schedule will be slightly different.
Meanwhile, the airline has launched a promo for members of its frequent flyer program on social media.
The promo tagged: ‘Make a wish,’ strictly on twitter; entails guests to make any wish ranging from free tickets, extra baggage allowance, discounts, access to lounge, free miles, and the wish will be granted by the airline.
Commenting on the promo, Mbanuzuo, said Dana Air’s vision is to be recognized and respected as Nigeria’s most reliable and customer-friendly airline, and this he says, the airline will achieve by consistently demonstrating commitment to service and providing affordable regional air transport services that focus on innovation, quality and service excellence.

Dana Air passengers stranded as pilots protest
Some passengers of Dana Air were yesterday stranded at airports across the country for several hours following a strike embarked upon by the airline’s pilots.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the decision of the pilots to disrupt the airline’s flight operations followed by a dispute they had with the management over welfare issues.
A NAN correspondent who monitored the situation at the Murtala Muhammed Airport 2 (MMA 2), Lagos, reports that some of the airline’s flights scheduled for the early part of yesterday were cancelled. Some of the affected passengers who had bought flight tickets said they had to make alternative arrangements to get to their destinations.
Dana Air’s Communications Manager Kingsley Ezenwa, who confirmed the development, said the issue had been resolved.
“The issue has been resolved. It was just a small miscommunication between Dana management and pilots.
“So, we are flying now and we apologise to our passengers for any inconveniences they might have suffered,” Ezenwa said.

Dana Air announces Easter promo
Dana Air has unveiled special fares ahead of Easter celebrations.
The Accountable Manager of the airline, Mr. Obi Mbanuzuo, said the aim of the promo is to reward its loyal passengers.

DANA Air connects Accra
As part of its ongoing route network expansion plans, Dana Air has begun daily flights from Lagos to Accra.
The addition of Accra brings the current route network of the airline to five destinations including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Uyo and Accra.
According to the Accountable Manager of Dana Air, Mr. Obi Mbanuzuo, the new service will assist passengers to integrate into other route network with fares that are affordable and competitive .
He said: ‘’ Business and leisure travellers to the beautiful city of Accra in Ghana, will experience the Dana Air -hospitality as we extend our operations to the cosmopolitan city of Accra.
