  • Cross River youths back Dankwambo for president

A youth group in Cross River State, the Youth Volunteer Elite, has supported Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo to run for president on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The National Coordinator, Comrade Okon Effiong, said Dankwambo is the solution to the economic crisis.

He said: “President Muhammadu Buhari told us we are out of recession, but many people are still suffering. We have to revive our economy.

“Dankwambo is the only economic doctor who can heal us because of his sound financial and economic background. The elders have held us down for decades. Nothing good has come out of them.

“We (youths) have given them opportunities, but they lack modern ideas, skills and concept. They cannot give what they don’t have. This is why Nigerians are suffering. We need a youthful president and that is Dankwambo.

“As a governor, he has changed the face of Gombe State. We advise youths never to let our elders mislead them. Go and get your voter’s cards because it takes only a vote to make a difference. We appeal to PDP Governor’s Forum and leaders to put sentiments aside and support Governor Dankwambo because he has what it takes to defeat All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019.”

  • Row breaks out between Goje, Dankwambo over Aisha Buhari’s visit

Row breaks out between Goje, Dankwambo over Aisha Buhari’s visit

The condolence visit of President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife Hajiya Aisha to former Gombe State Governor Danjuma Goje on the death of his wife Yelwa’s death sparked a row between him and the Governor Hassan Dankwambo.

During the Friday visit, Goje publicly rebuked Dankwambo for allegedly betraying his family after he became governor in 2011.

Goje thanked the President’s wife for bringing Dankwambo to his residence, recalling that since becoming governor, Damkwabo had failed to visit his residence even while the late Yelwa was sick.

“He used to be part of this household. My wife was his godmother.  For seven months she was sick, he didn’t come. He only called after she passed on. Since we inaugurated him from Pantami he didn’t visit this house. I have had series of misfortunes,  ill-health with even a death recorded but he has not seen it fit to identify with me and my family. He didn’t even call to sympathise with us. I really appreciate you,  Your Excellency, for bringing him back to this house. This used to be his home, he was a godson to my late wife,” Goje said.

The public rebuke did not go down well with supporters of Dankwambo who alleged that Goje attacked the person of the governor before the first lady merely to score cheap political gains.

Defending the governor, Gombe State Concerned Citizens, an umbrella body for elders in the state, vehemently condemned what they termed “unwarranted attack on the person of Dankwambo and his wife by Goje.”

At a news conference yesterday, the group condemned the choice of venue and timing on the alleged attack. They commended Dankwambo “for the mature manner he handled the situation. First and foremost, we would like to tender our unreserved apology to the wife of the President and her husband, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari for this unfortunate embarrassment she encountered during her condolence visit to Gombe state,” the group said.

Spokesman of the group, Amb Abulmumini Abubakar said it was necessary to refute “the tissues of lies dished out to the public by Goje because there is every tendency for people to believe in such lies.”

Abubakar accused Goje of choosing the moment of the the president’s wife visit to “castigate and ridicule the governor, in order to enhance their political ego.”

The group denied Goje’s claim that his late wife facilitated Dankwambo’s emergence as governor in 2011.

One of Goje’s aides Alhaji Ahmed Isa posed some questions to the group.

He said: “Did the governor call senator Goje or any member of the family, during the seven months Hajiya Yelwa was sick, let alone visit her on the sick bed? Why did the governor call Senator Goje the very day she died as if he was just waiting for her to die? Did the governor pay any condolence visit to the Goje family house before the wife of the president did?

“Do you expect the family to be deceived by the opportunistic visit of the governor, many days after the death of Hajiya Goje? Why did the governor not visit the family house in Gombe on his own, long before the visit of Hajiya Aisha?

“Did Hajiya Yalwa not support or assist Dankwambo to become governor in 2011? Was the governor not a frequent visitor to the Goje family house in Gome, long before he became governor and finally, did the governor ever visit the Goje family house in Gombe since May 29, 2011, after he was sworn in, even though the family lost several loved ones during this period?

“Let him answer these and we will response adequately…”

•Etsu Nupe charges wealthy Nigerins to care for the less privileged

Gombe State governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, and his Niger State counterpart, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, have appealed to traditional and religious leaders as well as other residents of their states to live together in peace irrespective of tribe, creed or religion.

The two governors spoke at different fora after the Eid prayers in their respective states yesterday.

Speaking in Gombe during a Sallah reception at Government House in Gombe shortly after he returned from the Eid praying ground, Dankwambo noted that peace is the prerequisite for the socio-economic development of the state and the country at large, hence the need to sustain it.

He also asked the people to shun acts that are capable of disrupting their peaceful co-existence.

He pledged that government would not abandon its primary responsibility of protecting lives and property.

He expressed his appreciation to the people for supporting his administration to implement viable policies and programmes aimed at improving the living standard of the people.

In Kontagora, the headquarters of Kontagora Local government Area, Governor Bello reiterated the need for Nigerians to live in peace, which he said is the only atmosphere progress can be made.

He spoke shortly after the Eid-el-Kabir prayers he had with other Muslim faithfuls at the Kontagora township’s Eid ground.

The governor, who was joined by the Sarkin Sudan, Alhaji Sheidu Namaska and other top dignatories at the Sallah prayers, said all hands must be on deck to ensure, improve and sustain peace in the state and the country as a whole.

He said: “We as a people need to deliberately ensure that peace reigns in our country. Whether you are a Christian or a Mouslim or whatever is your religion or tribe, we have to live together in one accord.

“For any meaningful development to be recorded, we have to enthrone peace in our day to day national life.

“Our progress as a people is dependent on peace. There must be deliberate and concerted efforts by all to give peace a chance”.

The two rakat prayers were led by the Chief Imam of Kontagora, Sheik Shehu Rimaye. He also conducted the symbolic slaughtering of ram at the Eid ground.

In Bida, the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya  Abubakar called on Muslims to use the Eid-el Kabir celebration to rebuild the fabric of national unity, adding that Nigerians need to harness its abundant resources and work towards becoming a progressive nation.

He appealed to wealthy individuals in the nation to assist the less privileged, adding that if this is done, the rate of crime and criminal activities would reduce in the nation.

“God has endowed wealth on people not for themselves and their immediate family, but for the benefit of entire society. The present socio-economic predicament that we are now facing requires such assistance from well to do individuals in the country.”

The monarch then charged the Muslim faithful to continue to pray to God to assist President Buhari and other elected and appointed leaders to overcome the current economic meltdown.

The Eid-el Kabir celebration in the state was generally peaceful with massive security presence noticed everywhere.

Men from the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps were seen in strategic areas in their bid to provide adequate security and ensure a peaceful celebration.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Babalola Adewole, in a release earlier, had reminded the public that the ban on banger was still in force, while he advised parents to monitor the activities of their children and wards.

Fayose, Dankwambo, Adebutu bag chieftaincy titles in Ado-Ekiti

THE Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe, Aladesanmi III, on Friday conferred chieftaincy titles on Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose; his Gombe counterpart, Ibrahim Dankwambo; his wife, Hajia Adama and House of Representatives member representing Ikenne/Shagamu/ Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State, Hon. Ladi Adebutu.

Fayose was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Apesin Apogun Pote of Ado-Ekiti, Dankwambo bagged the title of Akinmuagun of Ado-Ekiti, his wife, Adama became the Yeye Akinmuagun. Fayose was conferred with the Apesin Apogun Pote of Ado Ekiti, while Dankwambo was bestowed with the title of Akinmuagun of Ado-Ekiti. Dankwambo’s wife was conferred with the title of Yeye Akinmuagun of Ado- Ekiti. Adebutu was honoured with the title of Ajirosola of Ado-Ekiti. The two governors commissioned the new ultramodern palace hall built by the Fayose administration. Oba Adejugbe said the Ado-Ekiti community was honouring them with the titles for the service to humanity.

The two governors commissioned the new ultramodern palace hall built by the Fayose administration. The event was attended by traditional rulers, political office holders and other prominent citizens of Ekiti and Gombe States. Fayose turned the event to a campaign event by boasting that he would install a successor to continue his legacies in office.

He declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would be roundly defeated in the 2018 governorship election saying he commands goodwill in the state which he said would swing victory in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

  • Dankwambo not presidential material, says APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State has berated Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo for using state’s resource to sponsor anti-Buhari protest in Abuja.

Caretaker Secretary Kassim Bello Maigari was reacting to reports accusing Dankwambo and former Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko, of donating N300 million to sponsor the protest.

Maigari said Dankwambo’s action confirmed his desperation and overzealousness for the Presidency.

His words: “It is the media who call this an allegation, but I will not call it that, because the protesters have confirmed they were hired and paid to do so.

“President Muhammadu Buhari is only ill and has not breached the Constitution by falling ill. They are asking President Buhari to resign, if his ailing health cannot allow him preside over affairs of the country, when they should be praying for his health.

“They called it Our Mumu Don Do, but this clearly shows that their mumu don start. If you can allow yourself to be used to cause confusion, I think you are the most mumu in the world.”

Maigari said Dankwambo should focus on developing Gombe, which has been a headache for him since assuming office over six years ago, instead of aiming for a higher position, “when he has not been able to do much with a lower position”.

“Governor Dankwambo has forgotten that health and wellness belong to God; many people who were healthy when President Buhari went to London are no more; they have passed on.

“We have now seen that he (Dankwambo) is among those who wish Buhari dead, and that is why he has never mobilised prayers in the state for the President’s recovery.

“Besides, what is the difference between him and President Buhari; how many days does he stay in the state; how many times has he stayed a week in the state without gallivanting the country and beyond,” Maigari added.

Commissioner for Information Ahmed Suleiman Umar could not be reached for comments last night.

  • Dankwambo, Mimiko behind anti Buhari protest, group alleges

A Civil Society group, the Centre for Truth and Justice (CTJ) has fingered Gombe state Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo and other top members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko of being behind what it described as “sponsored anti-Buhari protests” in Abuja.

The group said it is obvious that the protest against the recuperating President is being orchestrated by those who fear that once the President is fully fit and resumes duty, they will be forced to pay for thier corrupt past.

Addressing journalists in Abuja on Sunday,National Coordinator of CTJ, Barrister Timothy Charles, said the group is aware that N300 million was paid to celebrity Activists Deji, Danfulani and Charlieboy to organise the protests with a single instruction of causing civil disorder so as to portray the Buhari presidency as anti-people.

He said patriotic citizens would have conducted themselves in orderly manner and cooperated with law enforcement to ensure their march was not hijacked, adding that same cannot be said for the #ourmumudondo protesters, whose thugs were confrontational against law enforcement agents from the start.

Barr. Chalse said it has no grudge with the protesters, saying most of them were hoodwink by the sponsors into believing that they were carrying out a patriotic action.

He said, “Another thing that these protesters are unaware of was that their sponsors have equally mobilized thugs to join the so-called protests for the sole aim of fomenting trouble. The strategy is for these thugs to deliberately clash with law enforcement and then cause widespread violence, arson and looting that will eventually result in a breakdown of law and order.

“Even more worrisome is the specific request from these sponsors that the thugs must ensure there is loss of life from the protest so that they can claim that security agencies and by implication the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is killing protesters.

He alleged that those behind the protests have tried all manners of gimmicks in the past,  in an attempt to throw the country into confusion but have failed.

He said, “some of them have sponsored terrorism or militancy, depending on the region, and failed to use these to bring Nigeria down. They have now resorted to street protests under the guise that they are demanding President Muhammadu Buhari to cut short his medical vacation and resume duties.

“For those who have not noticed, we want to point out that these protesters are not new. They had held similar protests in the past under different names and with multiple excuses. What they have simply done this time is to rebrand their name into #ourmumudondo and add a few more desperate celebrity activists to their ranks; their driving ideology for causing chaos has not changed one bit.”

He said further, “to prove that these protests have motives other than the one the protesters are presenting, even the explanation by the Senate that President Buhari has not breached any rule did not suffice to educate them to desist from their foolish ways. Instead, they are heaping insults on the lawmakers simply because they could not have their way.

“Such intolerance smacks of people with a fascist bend of mind even when they masquerade that their actions were driven by a law for democracy. Unfortunately, their own brand of democracy does not accept a National Assembly.

”It is true that the installment death of the corruption industry is compelling Nigerians to live within their means, which some have interpreted as hardship in the land.”

He described the protesters as mere fodders and tools in the hands of those that paid them to take to the streets, saying the CTJ warning is not directed at the protesters but at their sponsors.

He said, “We therefore warn Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo and former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko who are the brain behind the protest against the ailing President.

“Both Dankwambo and Mimiko are entitled to throw away their humanity on the altar of ambition but they must be aware that whatever position they are desperate to attain is not worth plunging the country into crisis over. They are free to spend their money any way they want but financing urchins, riffraff and celebrity activists but truly patriotic Nigerians will not sit by and watch them plunge the country into trouble.”‎

Wike to woo Obasanjo, Atiku, Saraki to PDP

•Oduah, Oseloka, Ikpeazu to run for Anambra governor

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has initiated moves to woo former President Olusegun Obasanjo; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; Senate President Bukola Saraki; and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara back to its fold.

Others targeted by the party include Senators Rabiu Kwankwaso, Aliyu Wamakko, Abdullahi Adamu, Danjuma Goje and Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal.

The party appointed Governor Nyesom Wike (Rivers) as chairman and Governor Ibrahim Dankwabo (Gombe) as deputy chairman of a reconciliation committee set up to woo the high profile politicians back to its fold.

National Caretaker Chairman Senator Ahmed Makarfi inaugurated the committee and urged it to deliver on the assignment.

The party also appointed a former Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Tom Ikimi, as chairman of a newly inaugurated Disciplinary Committee. A former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara was named as deputy.

Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is chairman of National Convention Committee with former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido as deputy chairman.

Makarfi urged the reconciliation committee to extend its assignment to the founding members of the PDP, stressing that the dragnet should be extended beyond those who left the in 2015.

Makarfi said those targets should “include President, Vice President, governors and former senate president, speaker of House of Representatives and all other former top ranking members in the party.

“Everybody that was in PDP at one time or the other should be reconciled with. It is not limited to pre-2015”.

Makarfi also mandated the committee to reach out to other individuals who have never been in the PDP, with a view to bringing them into the party, without any conditions attached.

He assured members that went through thick and thin with the party that they would not be sidelined. “We cannot foreclose opportunity for those who stayed behind during the turbulent period”.

Ikimi assured that former PDP members who defected to the APC would soon be back in the party.

He said: “APC is now dying and is almost dead. I am aware that they were able to win in 2015 because of members of PDP who defected there.

“I have it on good authority that key members who left PDP and joined APC are now returning to the party. I would like us to receive them with open hands and we will rebuild the party”.

The party also suspended the former factional Chairman in Anambra State Ken Emeakayi

National Publicity Secretary Dayo Adeyeye who announced the decision, said three days after the dissolution of all factional executive in the state in July, Emeakayi went ahead to summon a meeting of his faction, which was in violation of the decision of the National Caretaker Committee.

He said the committee issued him a query but rather than respond to the issue, Emeakayi disparaged the national leadership.

“His reply not only showed disrespect to the National Caretaker Committee, he disparaged the personality of the chairman and the secretary.

“He issued words of abuse totally unbecoming of a person who claimed to be holding an important office as chairman of a state chapter.

“We found this to be gross indiscipline. And today, we decided on this matter, in accordance with the provisions of our constitution.

“So, the National Caretaker Committee at its meeting today took cognisance of the violation of the Provision of Section 58 (1A, B, C, G, H, I, J, M) of the PDP Constitution 2012 (as amended) by Chief Ken Emeakayi.

“We took a decision to immediately suspend him for  one month, in accordance with Section 57 (3) of the PDP Constitution 2012 (as amended),” Adeyeye said.

He added that the case of Emeakayi had also been referred to the National Disciplinary Committee for further disciplinary action.

Adeyeye said seven aspirants had obtained the PDP nomination and expression of interest forms for the November 28 Anambra State Governorship election.

They are Dr Alex Obiogolu, Mr Oseloka Obaze, Prince Okechukwu Emeka, Dr patrick Ubah, Mr Akolisa Ufodike, Lynda Ikpeazu and Mrs Stella Oduah.

  • 2019: Coalition endorses Dankwambo for presidency

A coalition of democratic youths – Democratic Youths Alliance (DYA) – yesterday enjoined Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State to join the race for the 2019 presidential election so that he can replicate the development he has done in his state at the national level.

The call was made in Abuja by the executive council of the coalition at the end of a two-day meeting.

Mr. Tersoo Yisa and Barrister Daniel Fajana said in a statement that Dankwambo met their criteria of a good candidate in terms of age, track record and performance.

“Governor Dankwambo was rated  based on his outstanding achievements in road infrastructure and maintenance since his swearing in to office on the 29th of May, 2011, which has drastically reduced the spate of accidents usually recorded on roads in the state due to their bad nature,” they said.

  • Dankwambo’s impact in Gombe

    Dankwambo’s impact in Gombe

Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of the moderate state of Gombe has demonstrated the immeasurable role of education in the political and economic life of a people or nation. His three points agenda: education,  education and education signposted his worldview in modern governments as the precursor of positive governance.

The governor’s inclusive construction of over 45 model schools in all the local government areas of the state in conformity to international standards; expansion programme in the tertiary institutions with the purchase of equipment for the College of Medicine and Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science; multi-billion naira building of hostels, classrooms, libraries and laboratories in the School of Remedial Studies at Kumo, are ready testaments of his commitment to the three points agenda.

The ongoing establishment of several top flight educational institutions like the Gombe State University of Science and Technology, Gombe State College of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Gombe State College of Accountancy, Gombe State Institute of Journalism and Gombe State Institute of

Sports Development perfectly mirrors what to expect from the desert state of Gombe in the near future. The good news is that the governor has been spending N10 billion, more than the 4% UNESCO recommendation for educational sector in annual budget, to arrest the decay in the educational system. This is more so because those recruited into the Boko Haram terrorist group are basically and evidently illiterates, who are brainwashed and radicalized to hate fellow human being for baseless religious reasons.

Dankwambo’s favorable educational policy  paid off in his first four years bountifully with the establishment of several prestigious tertiary institutions including the Gombe State College of Islamic studies, the Gombe State Polytechnic and the Gombe State College of Education amongst other purpose driven institutions that have provided admission at very low cost to tens of thousands of Gombe State students as well as students from other parts of the country.

Governor Dankwambo loudly ventilated my position about history and education as the ultimate enhancers of human development. Elsewhere in the rocky Interlaken, Switzerland caverns have been turned into shinning marbles and desert into flourishing glamorous cities in Dubai! These are products of education and philosophy.

The state earlier known for its unremitting poverty, backwardness and aridity has surgically undergone genuine transformation in the last six years under the stewardship of Dr. Dankwambo, a preeminent PhD holder in accounting in the political life of the nation who, in the past functioned as Accountant-General of the state and the Federation at different times. It would be appropriate to argue that Dr. Dankwambo’s brilliant academy exploit puts him head and shoulder above most of his peers in a country where the first eleven are hardly given a chance to serve.

During his tenure as Accountant-General of the Federation as well as Gombe State, Dr. Dankwambo introduced landmark programmes towards ensuring accountability, transparency and probity. These included massive reorganisation of the

Accountant-General’s office to make it more focused, pragmatic and professionally suitable for efficient service delivery. He also commenced the computerisation of the federal government account. Among several others, he also put in place standardisation of accounts of federal, state and local governments in Nigeria while ensuring that all government revenues were captured into the treasury and properly  accounted for.

Imbued powerfully by world class orientation in governance, his undoubted empathy for the socially displaced and positivity, Dr. Dankwambo needs no prodding for him to appreciate the enormous task office of the governor placed on him to redeem the long suffering people of Gombe. His commitment to the attainment of crucial aspects of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) of the United Nations (UN); his identification of manpower development as the basic resources for the actualisation of such initiatives has succinctly led to his understanding of the “undeniable potentials of indigenous artisanship to societal and national development.

His decision to nurture qualitative and quantitative education, the production of quality and adequate manpower for housing construction, automobile repair, steel work, renovation and fabrication works of various shades which currently pose a major challenge to individual citizen, urban managers and development partners across the country has not been equalled by any other state governor.

Interestingly, the governor has activated the Gombe State Investment Company from obscurity into one of the most formidable profit-oriented agencies among all the parastatals within the state’s public service, with a capital value of over N4 billion. An advocate of wealth creation with pro-poor initiative, his job creation efforts and  wealth creation programme has increased activities in agro-allied and solid minerals sector. Additional increase of N3 billion to an earlier N1 billion partnership deal with the Bank of Industry (BOI), has been disbursed to cooperative groups as soft loans to hundreds of thousands beneficiaries for the establishment of small-scale processing industries. As a result, 12, 000 jobs were created by the 133 Cooperative Societies. This was done with gender consideration.

In addition to that, precisely 755 trainees in various skill acquisition programme have successfully completed their courses and now self-employed. Gombe state currently stands out as a model on the roll call of 17 states under the BOI partnership programme. As a matter of fact, Gombe market is now saturated with products and brands of various dimensions.

It’s on record that Dr. Dankwambo’s administration singularly completed the construction of the 54km Kanawa-Kuri-Jorogutel road with some connecting access roads linking all the most agricultural fertile parts of the state. This road is on the priority list of the Dankwambo-led administration in spite of its identification as a federal road, with a total cost N6.8 billion.

Early life of his government Dr. Dankwambo unveiled 200 fuel efficient mini-brand taxi cabs; 1,100 Keke NAPEP tri-cycles, combined with 80 hummer buses for Gombe State Transport Service through the State Ministry of Finance as a more meaningful approach to alleviating the scourge of poverty among the downtrodden rather than the negative approach of survival of the fittest.

The main trust of this piece arises from Dr. Dankwambo’s single-mindedness, largeness of heart and leadership by example to engagement in the provision of portable water to the citizens of the state at great cost. At a time public water system has collapsed or completely disappeared across the country, venturing into the area by the governor should be acknowledged. Many people under the age of 40 can not boast of ever using public water system. All we know is private boreholes. All that has disappeared, courtesy of leadership failure, even when availability of portable water was promised to every Nigerian some 40-years before in accordance with the UNESCO recommendation.

In his effort at improving the supply of potable water to the citizenry, the administration has awarded contract for the rehabilitation and reticulation of pipelines in the state with extension to Kwami, Gadam and Bojude, and of late, extended to cover Kompulata and Tappi at a cost of well over N4 billion; while it has also awarded contract for water sustenance and maintenance of the Gombe Regional Water Supply Scheme.

Dankwambo told newsmen sometime ago thus: “Fortunately or unfortunately for us, there are some places where you cannot get borehole water. You will dig as deep as 500 meters in some places in Gombe and not get water. So, the only solution is to get a dam or treated water which is piped.

“Fortunately, we have a dam in Gombe but it is about 45 to 50 kilometres, so we are drawing the water little by little and it is a huge investment. The first one we did; when the water came into Gombe, we had to distribute in and around Gombe and that cost us about N4.2 billion. The next thing was to extend it to certain areas. In these areas, if you drive, it is like you are getting to almost the border of Gombe and in Gombe there is no ground water at all. So, we have succeeded in

extending up to 78 kilometres of pipeline towards that side and that cost additional N1.8 billion.

“The Gombe reticulation is almost 90 to 95 per cent completed. Also when you take dam water, you are also adding to the cost of treatment and cost of maintenance. When I came, we ran the dam at about N90 million a month. As at today, the cost of maintenance is about N242 million”.

    This is exemplary leadership.
