Hundreds of women Women in Ogun State under the aegis of Women In Politics(WIN) on Thursday staged a peaceful rally in support of decision and steadfastness of the National Working Committee(NWC) of the All Progressives Congress regarding the party’s governorship candidate in Ogun State, Prince  Dapo Abiodun.

The women who  stormed the Secretariat of the state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abeokuta, the state capital, bearing  placards with inscriptions hailing the APC NWC under the leadership of the Adams Oshiomhole, said “the party has spoken on Ogun and Dapo Abiodun is the answer,” urging party members to bury their differences and support the candidate to emerge victorious in 2019.

Some of the inscriptions on placards, read : ” The Party has spoken, Dapo Abiodun is our man, “We kick against imposition,  Dapo Abiodun is the answer, women in politics say Dapo Abiodun is the one.”

Addressing reporters during the peaceful rally, the President, Mrs Abosede Akande, disclosed that the group  worked hard enough to return the progressives in government in Ogun State since 2011, vowing that they would repeat the same feat for Abiodun candidature in 2019.

Banking on members having their Permanent Voter Card(PVC), they would reject any inducement and vote for Abiodun, expressing the confidence that the candidate would put women into consideration and not turn his back on them if elected into office.

He said:  “We want Dapo Abiodun to be our Governor, God has done it for us. The suffering is so much in the State. We want Dapo Abiodun to be the Governor. We are going to vote en-mass for  Abiodun.

“We will reject money for vote, we have our PVC’s to vote for Dapo Abiodun, we support the NWC decision and we are also giving our support to Adams Oshiomhole.”

Earlier leaders of the  All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikenne Local Government of Ogun of State  urged Governor Ibikunle Amosun to support the popular choice of Prince Dapo Abiodun as governorship candidate of the party for 2019 gubernatorial election and not scuttle the chances of the party retaining power in the state beyond 2019.

The APC leaders who described the oil magnate and real estate player as a seasoned administrator, selfless politician and highly successful manager of men and resources, said Abiodun remained the best man to consolidate on many giant strides the governor had recorded in the last seven years.

Honourable Idowu Solaru who addressed the men’s rally in Ikenne, the home town of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, noted that Amosun raised the bar of governance, especially in the areas of infrastructure in the state and appealed to him to throw his weight behind Prince Dapo Abiodun.

“Prince Dapo Abiodun who we are very proud of as one of our distinguished sons in Ikenne local government is undoubtedly very qualified for the tasks ahead. He has the competence and capacity to take the state to greater height.

“He remain the best man to continue the mission to rebuild beyond May 2019. We are here to identify with the mandate freely given to our son and to as well beg the governor to let his candidature be, it is for the good of our party and the people of Ogun state,”  he said.

Also, Emmanuel Ayodele lauded President Muammadu Buhari, Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibajo and National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole for ensuring that the will of general members of the party in the state to pick a governorship candidate of their desire prevailed.

Oyenuga described Prince Abiodun as the best foot APC must put forward for 2019 governorship challenge in the state urging the governor to please eschew any sort of bitterness, accept general wish of the party members as a good democrat and give his support to the billionaire business mogul to take over from him.

  • ACO to Amosun: Imbibe spirit of sportsmanship, embrace Abiodun

The media team of prince Abiodun Campaign Organisation (ACO) has urged Governor Ibikunle Amosun to allow the supremacy of the party to prevail regarding the candidature of Prince Dapo Abiodun as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ogun state as declared by the Muhammed Indabawa – led primary Committee for the state.
ACO also advised Amosun to face the reality that his preferred man, Hon. Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade, has  lost the party’s ticket and thus imbibes the spirit of sportsmanship and party politics demands that losers accept their losses and join hands with Abiodun to serve the larger interest of the party and the good people of Ogun state.
The media team  in a statement by Olamide Lawal,  he claimed  that the national leaders of APC, including President Muhammadu Buhari, have convened series of meetings to appease Amosun to move on and accept the rightful winner of the party’s ticket, alleging however,  that the governor in his own volition refuses to yield to the party’s directives to accept the decision of the National Working Committee(NWC) in line with the constitution of APC.
The statement reads: “We have again received a news credited to the governor of Ogun state, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun where he vows that he has not accepted Prince Dapo Abiodun as the winner of the APC gubernatorial primary.
“It is no more news to the good people of Ogun state that Prince Dapo Abiodun is the APC gubernatorial candidate in the State having polled the highest number of votes in a freely and fairly contested direct primary election as announced by the Electoral Panel sent in by the National Working Committee of the party.
“The committee was led by Mr Muhammed Indabawa, a retired commissioner of Police with a distinguished record of service. With the general elections fast approaching, the governor has failed to unite the party in preparation for the huge task ahead.
“This is because his preferred successor lost the party’s ticket. The spirit of sportsmanship and party politics demands that losers accept their losses and join hands with the winner to serve the larger interest of the party and the society.

“There have been efforts on the part of state and national leaders of the party to forge a common front in preparation for the victory of the party at the general elections but the governor has consistently made attempts to frustrate the reconciliatory efforts of the party leaders because he wants to install his successor by all means.
“It is on record that national leaders of the party including President Muhammadu Buhari, have convened series of meetings to appease the governor to move on and accept the rightful winner of the party’s ticket.
“The governor in his own volition and wishes, refuses to yield to the party’s directives to accept the decision of the NWC in line with the constitution of the party, APC.
We cannot turn down the people’s will having elected Dapo Abiodun as their flag bearer and it is time we move on in preaching the gospel of Dapo Abiodun to the good people of Ogun state who have all been yearning to see him in the exalted seat.
“Abiodun as an entrepreneur who has provided over 10,000 direct and 250,000 indirect jobs to the people has become the toast of many residents of Ogun state and they can’t wait to have him as their next governor.
“The acumen of Abiodun in building and maintaining businesses for over  three decades has become a selling point which many citizens of the state have seen as a means that can move the state forward and increase its IGR for more infrastructural development, human capital development and better living conditions of the people.
“It is in this view that we call on all stakeholders in Ogun state to join hands and let’s move our dear state forward so as to secure a better future for the coming generations.”
  • Olugbemiga Abiodun’s memory lingers on

The memory of the late Olugbemiga Abiodun aka DJ Olu,the son of  oil magnate and Ogun State governorship  candidate, Dapo Abiodun has refused to fade away even as family, friends and associates  still celebrated him even in death.

Dapo Abiodun and family in a tribute to the departed soul, organized a remembrance service at Emmanuel Chapel, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Ajay Ajimobi, one of the daughters of Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi, also took to her Instastories to remember her late boyfriend DJ Olu. According to Ajay, it would have been their three years anniversary as a couple.  She shared a photo of them practising their pre-wedding photoshoot.

The late Olu was in a romantic relationship with Ajay, the last daughter of the Oyo State Governor and was also quite close with her family members, frequently spending time with them all at their home in Lekki, Ibadan and London.

Besides his entertainment exploits, the late Olu was in the final stages of completing a state-of-the-art car wash in his neighborhood, Victoria Garden City (VGC). It was later commissioned by his dad to celebrate him posthumously.

  • Group demands Oshiomole’s resignation, Buhari to call Osinbajo to order

A coalition of  Civil Society groups, known as the Pro-Democracy Alliance has demanded for the immediate resignation of Comrade Adams Oshiomole, as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as it also asked on President Muhammadu Buhari to call Vice Yemi Osinbajo to order, over what the group described as their ‘undemocratic’ roles in the conduct of the Ogun State Gubernatorial primary of the APC, which the group affirmed was won, by Honorable Abdulkadri Adekunle Akinlade.
The group at a Press Conference addressed in Lagos on Thursday, blasted the national chairman, Comrade Oshiomole, for orchestrating a ‘show of shame’ in disregard of the democratic decision of members of the APC, in the State, who on Tuesday, overwhelmingly voted for Honorable Akinlade as the party’s flag bearer in the forthcoming 2019 governorship election in the State.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Comrade Olusegun Soyoye accompanied by other leaders of the group said it is sad, that those who were entrusted with positions of high responsibility such as the National Chairman and even the Vice President of the country, have proven to be incapable, while also employing every undemocratic means, to undermine the democratic decision of the people of Ogun State, by desperately attempting to foist an aspirant, who came in 3rd position, Mr. Dapo Abiodun, on the party, through illegal means.

The group further said the infamous role of the APC National Chairman, who is in active connivance with VP Yemi Osinbajo, clearly negates  the principles upon which the APC as a party, was formed and pursuant to which it has become a party of choice to Nigerians, particularly the people of Ogun State.
“For the purpose of clarity, and we wish to inform you that we active monitored the Ogun State gubernatorial primary on Tuesday 2nd October, 2018, where members of the APC in the State voted Honorable Abdul-kadri Akinlade with a total of 190,987 votes, Mr Jimi Lawal in second position with 5,046 votes, Dapo Abiodun with  3,648 votes, among others. We were therefore taken aback, when on Wednesday, the  Muhammad Ndabawa-led electoral committee sent to Ogun State by the National Working Committee(NWC) of the All Progressives Congress(APC), which has made itself unavailable since arriving the State, rose from the comfort of their Hotel rooms, to announce Mr. Dapo Abiodun, as the winner of the Ogun State governorship primaries, without any election, held to the contrary, in any part of Ogun State, on Wednesday. We condemn this shenanigan of a very few, who are out to hijack an otherwise peaceful and successful primaries, just for reasons of personal aggrandisement, as we hereby call on members of APC and all lovers of democracy, to resist it”
The group therefore called on the President, Muhammadu Buhari, and other well meaning members of the party to direct Comrade Oshiomole and Vice President Osinbajo, to immediately hands off their interference in the outcome of the Ogun gubernatorial primary, and respect the choice of members of the party, over whom should be its flag bearer.
  • Ogun APC: Aspirant urges members to insist on direct primary

The All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has advised APC members to insist on their right to select by themselves through direct primary, the party candidate for the 2019 governorship polls in the state.

Abiodun who hails from Iperu town in Ogun East Senatorial district, urged party faithful to fight for their freedom, allow their votes to count and not let indirect primaries to prevail where they can have their say.

The Oil magnate gave the advice during a tour to Abeokuta South, Imeko Afon and Yewa North local governments with members of the party at the weekend.

Abiodun appealed to party members across the state not to give up on their clamour for direct primaries as recommended by the national leadership of the party, assuring them that there is no going back until the will of the people prevails.

The aspirant recalled that he has supported Governor Ibikunle Amosun to achieve his ambition to govern the state, but wondered why Amosun is unwilling to reciprocate same gesture.

“I was one of the people who went to plead for the incumbent governor to be allowed to govern the state in 2007 but we failed, after that election we realise we didn’t do stomach infrastructure then we try again in 2011 with 11 state house of Assembly members around the state which I personally financed.

“I wonder where I’ve wronged the governor with my ambition, with all the support I gave him then, not that he gave me any post or my loyaliest which I never questioned him for,” Abiodun said.

He said the plan to elect flag bearers of the party through the delegate system as an indirect admittance of failure on the part of the outgoing governor adding that a government that is really in touch with the people would not be afraid of putting its fate in the hands of the electorates.

He promised to return the party to the people if he is elected the APC aspirant to run along with other parties’ aspirants for 2019.

“I promise to return the party to the people because the party belong to the people and not individual or a family party that some people feels they should have control ”

He also urge the party faithfuls to use the ongoing continuous membership registration of our great party via the internet to drive the membership of the party.

Dapo Abiodun’s guber ambition hit by DJ Olu’s death

For the family of billionaire businessman, Dapo Abiodun, the past few days are like an eclipse on a scene of warmth and sunshine plunging the family into sorrow and deep pains. Since the winds of mortality cruelly blew out the shining candle that was Olugbemiga Abiodun a.k.a. DJ Olu, a few days ago, they have been trying to come to terms with their loss while also dealing with the fallout of the ugly development.

It will be recalled that since DJ Olu, one of popular musician Davido’s official DJs, and a friend were found dead in a car in mysterious circumstances, rumours have been flying around about the possible cause of the tragedy. With the police allegedly recovering some illegal substances from the car, the family of the Hayden Oil boss has come out to appeal that all insinuations be disregarded until the official autopsy is made public.

Before tragedy struck last week, debonair billionaire Dapo Abiodun had set machinery in motion in his plan to become the next governor of Ogun State. It remains to be seen whether DJ Olu’s demise and the controversy surrounding it would hurt or derail his ambition.

    Who is after Dapo Abiodun?

MANY society watchers recently woke up to the news that Heyden Oil boss, Dapo Abiodun, had been fingered as one of the people responsible for the purported collapse of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi’s marriage with Olori Wuraola after a social media website had gone to town with the false story that the extravagant wedding contracted nearly one and a half years ago had ended in bitter separation. On the heels of that piece of juicy gossip, rumours began to fly around that Olori Wuraola was involved in ‘unpublishable’ misdeeds with several men, including Dapo Abiodun.

Not surprisingly, the Heyden Oil boss, reputed for steadfast integrity, became the recipient of frantic phone calls from friends and detractors alike. While some wanted to know the truth behind the allegations, others used the chance to drag his name in the mud, portraying him as a man bereft of decency. In a twist of the Shakespearean play, A Comedy of Errors, it was later discovered that the whole brouhaha stemmed from a case of mistaken identity as the Dapo Abiodun that was being touted was a completely different one from the Ijebu Ode born businessman and politician whose impeccable pedigree on the social scene is well known.
