    Moyes targets Imoh Ezekiel

Real Sociedad manager, David Moyes, was at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne on Sunday to run the rule over 21-year-old Standard Liege forward, Imoh Ezekiel, in the team 4-0 win over Kortrijk.

Since returning to Standard Liege Ezekiel has scored goals in 11 games he failed to hit the target on Sunday despite playing for the entire duration of the match, sl10.ng reports.

Moyes is looking for a striker to improve his team’s forward line next season.

And Spanish sources said that the Super Eagles striker fits the bill of the type of striker the former Manchester United manager is on the look-out for.

However, Sociedad manager will have to fend off interest from Club Brugge and Anderlecht of Belgium, with the latter viewed as favourites to Ezekiel’s signature in the summer.

    Manchester Utd sacks Moyes

… Appoints Giggs as interim boss

David Moyes has been sacked by Manchester United with immediate effect.

Chief executive Ed Woodward arrived at Carrington at 8am on Tuesday morning to inform the Scot face-to-face of the news.

Moyes had already been informed of his fate and thanked club staff at the training complex in anticipation of his departure. The players were not present at the time.

A tweet on the club’s official Twitter account reads: ‘BREAKING: Manchester United announces that David Moyes has left the club. The club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role.’

It emerged on Monday that United’s owners, the Glazer family, had lost patience with Moyes after a dismal season that has seen the reigning Barclays Premier League champions slump to seventh in the table.

The final straw was Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Everton, their 11th in the Barclays Premier League this season, and a result that left the title holders 13 points off the Champions League places.

Meanwhile, the club has revealed that Ryan Giggs will assume first-team responsibilities as interim coach until a permanent successor to Moyes is appointed.

Giggs, who has made a record 962 appearances for United and was widely expected to end his playing career this summer, will negotiate the final three matches of the season.

A club statement reads: “Following the departure of David Moyes as manager, Manchester United has announced that Ryan Giggs, the club’s most decorated player, will assume responsibility for the first team until a permanent appointment can be made.

“The club will make no further comment on this process until it is concluded.”

Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp had been installed as the early favourite to succeed Moyes, but has since ruled out the possibility of leaving the Bundesliga giants this summer.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone and Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti are both also thought to be in contention, but Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal is the new front-runner for the post.

Van Gaal is also wanted by Tottenham to succeed Tim Sherwood, but Goal reported last week that the Dutchman was taking his time to weigh up his options amid speculation linking him with United.

  • Osaze’s Stoke beat Man U for first time in EPL

Osaze’s Stoke beat Man U for first time in EPL

    By Uchenna Ajah

Nigeria’s Osaze Odemwingie was in action for 90 minutes as Stoke City handed Manchester United their first ever defeat in the Premier League, with David Moyes and his men losing 2-1 at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

Charlie Adam scored a brace in the encounter but United were the first to create a chance when Wayne Rooney let fly from 35 yards out, however his shot was saved by Asmir Begovic at the bottom left-hand corner of the goal.

Rooney had another great chance a few minutes later when Patrice Evra produced a teasing cross, which allowed the England striker to get an effort off towards goal, though the ball crept just too wide to the left of the post.

Robin van Persie was next to try his luck just before the half-hour mark when he got onto the end of a headed pass from Phil Jones, though his effort was blocked on its way to goal.

In a half of few chances, Stoke tried their luck just before the break as Erik Pieters let fly with an effort that flew high and wide of David de Gea’s goal.

United found themselves a goal behind in the 38th minute when Charlie Adam lashed in a delivery towards goal, which perhaps took a slight deflection off of Michael Carrick to elude de Gea and give the hosts the lead.

However, van Persie pulled the visitors level just after the break when he latched onto Juan Mata’s through ball before tucking his finish into the bottom corner.

Parity didn’t last too long, though, as Adam restored Stoke’s lead with a standout individual effort, which saw the midfielder nail a long range effort into the top corner.

Lone frontman Peter Crouch could have extended the hosts’ lead, but he was only able to head straight at de Gea with the goal gaping in front of him, while Tom Cleverley wasted a perfect opportunity to equalise in the closing stages as he sent his shot over following a scramble inside the box.

    Man U: Moyes replaces Ferguson

Manchester United Football Club has confirmed Everton’s manager, David Moyes as Alex Ferguson successor. He is given a six year contract.

“When we discussed the candidates that we felt had the right attributes we unanimously agreed on David Moyes.  David is a man of great integrity with a strong work ethic,” Sir Alex Ferguson told the club’s official website.

“I’ve admired his work for a long time and approached him as far back as 1998 to discuss the position of Assistant Manager here. He was a young man then at the start of his career and has since gone on to do a magnificent job at Everton. There is no question he has all the qualities we expect of a manager at this Club.”

Moyes will leave Everton at the end of the season.

  • David Moyes happy to be patient with Naismith

Everton manager David Moyes has revealed he is happy to be patient with the form of striker Steven Naismith.

The Scotland striker scored his first goal for Everton in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League last month, which came almost a year to do the day since he damaged his cruciate knee ligaments, for the second time in his career, while playing for Rangers.

And Moyes believes it is crucial that both he and the club must be patient on the striker’s return to regular first team football.

He told Everton’s official website: “I do think the goal was important because Steven is coming back from a cruciate injury.

“I spoke to Walter Smith at the time and he said it took him a while to come back. Now he has had his second cruciate so we are still waiting on him a little but he did well in the game, scored his goal and it will give him that extra confidence.

“He will be a good, steady Everton player over time.”

Moyes went on to reassure Everton fans that he believes Naismith can eventually provide the Goodison Park club with an extra dimension to their attacking options.

“He is a forward player who is used to playing in that area and scoring goals,” he added.

“We have got different players who offer us different options. When you have Leon Osman, Steven Pienaar, Kevin Mirallas and Steven Naismith there will be a style you have to play with those players.

“But we also have Nikica Jelavic and Marouane Fellaini who give us something different as well. That gives us variation in our play.”
