Davido’s marriage not a good example to emulate – Burna Boy

Afrobeats singer Burna Boy has spoken on Davido’s marriage, stating that it’s not a good example to follow.

This came after a fan urged him to emulate Davido by getting married soon.

Burna Boy’s response was in reference to Davido’s ongoing child custody battle with first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, and the recent controversy surrounding his late son, Ifeanyi.

Burna Boy seemed to suggest that Davido’s marital issues and personal struggles make his marriage an unappealing example to follow.

Instead, he agreed with a fan who suggested Adekunle Gold’s marriage as a better example to aspire to.

The Grammy-winning singer then wrote on his X page: “‘Odogwu too wise’ who no hear go feel.”

Taking to the comment section, an X user with the handle, @BadLieutenant urged Burna Boy to emulate his colleague, Davido by getting married.

The user wrote: “Burna Boy, you should start planning for your future by getting married and starting a family. OBO has already set an example. You’re over 33 now, and you need to understand that you’re not getting any younger.”

A heated custody dispute has emerged between music sensation Davido and ex-partner Sophia Momodu over their daughter Imade.

As reported by The Nation, Davido is seeking joint custody and unrestricted access to the child, but Momodu is resisting, citing the singer’s frequent travels and personal life as reasons he is unfit to care for Imade.

In a court filing, Momodu raised concerns about Davido’s ability to provide a stable environment, referencing the tragic death of his son Ifeanyi at his home under controversial circumstances.

Momodu had argued: “The Applicant is an artist who always travels around the world as mandated by his career and cannot possibly be with our daughter at crucial times. The Applicant is married to another woman, and they live together. The proper upbringing of our daughter by another cannot be guaranteed.

“The fact that the Applicant lost his son in his house in rather unfortunate and questionable circumstances shows that our daughter cannot be placed in the custody of the Applicant.”

Davido responded with an emotional outburst, expressing hurt over Momodu’s mention of his son’s death and vowing to continue fighting for his daughter’s custody.

“Imade will grow up to see that I fought for her. As for now, you can have her.

“P.S.: She won’t be a child forever. Enjoy Imade Aurora Adeleke! Your father loves you!”

The case has shed light on the complicated history between the two, with Momodu alleging that Davido stopped supporting their daughter after their relationship ended in 2022.

Davido: Imo govt debunks insecurity claims, says state is safe

The Imo state government on Thursday, June 27, dismissed claims that the state is overwhelmed by insecurity, calling the narrative untrue and misleading.

According to Onwuasoanya Jones, the special adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on public communication, the state remains safe and secure for events, including the recent cultural marriage ceremony of Davido and Chioma.

The statement read: “The narrative that the cultural marriage ceremony was held in Lagos because of insecurity in Imo State or the Southeast is not correct.

“Imo State, especially the axis where this marriage ceremony could have been held, if Davido chose to hold the ceremony in Nkwere or Owerri, are among the safest places in the Southeast.”

Jones emphasised that the state government has made significant strides in collaboration with security agencies to rid the state of criminal and terrorist elements, resulting in a drastic drop in crime and violent disturbances.

“The idea of holding cultural marriage ceremonies at cities other than the homestead of the bride is a cultural trend that has been evolving for over one decade now.”

The government assured that Imo State is safe and secure for all and that Governor Hope Uzodimma remains committed to building a safe and secure state for all.

She suggested that these individuals are often judged and criticised, while Davido’s wedding is being celebrated.
