    It’s amazing witnessing Grammy, says Davido

    Grammy-nominated artist, Davido has reacted to his nomination at the 66th Grammy awards saying it is amazing witnessing and being a part of the awards ceremony.

    “It’s an amazing thing to witness and be a part of,” he said. “It’s been at a peak, reaching mainstream the past few years that I don’t think it’s ever been at before.”

    On his goals and focus for the year, Davido said he wants to work more on new music, while staying positive.

    “Working on more new music, doing more shows, and staying positive are my plans and goals for this year. I want to go for something that would transcend the ‘here and now’ fads. When people listen back to it 20 years later, I want it to hit them the same as people listening to it now.”

    The 33-year-old father of four secured three nominations at the Grammys with songs from his sixth album, ‘Timeless.’

    Grammy-nominated singer Davido has flaunted his newly customised gold necklace and diamond teeth. 

    Davido, via Instagram, showed off his white diamond teeth, after which he flaunted a sparkling gold necklace.

    The gold necklace was also encrusted with a short note which reads: “To everything, there is a season and a time to every surprise in heaven. Timeless LCND.”

    What my father told me before Grammys night – Davido

    Grammy-nominated singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has disclosed what his father, Adedeji Adeleke, said to him before the commencement of the just concluded 66th Grammy Awards ceremony.

    The Nation reported that the 2024 Grammy Awards was held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 4, 2024. 

    Davido, who is a first time Grammy nominee, failed to secure any of the three categories he was nominated for, as all Nigerian nominees lost out.

    However, speaking during a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the singer said his father told him that he remains a legend regardless of the night’s outcome. 

    He insisted that being nominated for the just concluded 66th edition of the Grammys Awards is enough to make him proud of himself.

    He said: “Being nominated alone is enough to make me proud of myself. I just want my song to be heard on the radio once or twice in the beginning, but for it to transcend to this is just amazing and God’s doing.

    “I was on the phone with my dad yesterday and he was like ‘Son no matter what happens, you are still a legend’. So yeah, he is a big fan.”

    Grammy-nominated singer Davido has finally reacted hours after losing three nominations at the 66th edition of the Grammy Awards on February 4.

    In a post shared on X, Davido expressed love for everyone and vowed to continue to deliver good music to his fans.

    Grammy: Davido deserves award for peace sake, says Cynthia Morgan

    Rapper Madrina formerly known as Cynthia Morgan has reacted to her colleague Davido’s loss at the recently concluded 66th Grammy Award show.

    The DMW boss failed to secure any of his three Grammy nominations, including the Best African Music Performance award, which went to 22-year-old South African singer Tyla.

    Reacting to Davido’s defeat, Cynthia took to her Instagram page to convey her sympathy and suggested that the Grammy organizers should have awarded him at least one trophy for the sake of peace in the country.

    She wrote: “Not a fan of you but I feel say them for just give you one make we forget peace for this country. Better luck next time my former fave @davido.”

    Special Spesh, Davido’s hypeman, has responded to his boss’s loss at the recently concluded 66th Grammy Awards.

    The Nation reported that the awards took place on Sunday, February 4, at the Crypto Com Arena, where Davido missed out on winning in his three nominated categories.

    Recall that Davido was nominated for Best Global Music Performance, Album of the Year, and Best African Music Performance. Unfortunately, Davido’s “Unavailable” lost to the emerging singer Tyla, whose “Water” emerged as the Best African Music Performance.

    In the aftermath of the event, Special Spesh took to his Instagram Story to express his frustration with the overall outcome of the ceremony.

    He vowed not to allow Afrobeats, Afro-fusion, or anything African to be diminished in any way.

    He noted: “We won’t give you the power to dùmb Afrobeats down or Afro-fusion or anything African.

    “That’s (White) Americans problem! When things start to take over and get massive they always want a part, then try to have a say then try to control.”

    Popular transgender, Idris Okuneye, best known as Bobrisky has expressed admiration for Grammy-nominated singer, Davido despite failing to bag a Grammy award on Sunday. 

    The Nation reported that Davido lost his three nominations at the just concluded event. 

    Davido had nominations as: Best Global Music award for his song Feel; Best African Music Performance for his song Unavailable and Best Global Music Album for his album Timeless. 

    Reacting to the development, Bobrisky wrote: ‘I’m super proud of you David. I’m your biggest fan. I’m sure your lawyer Prince tells you dis always.

    South Africa’s Tyla has won the Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammy Awards.

    Tyla, who won with the hit song “Water”, beat a line-up of Nigerian artistes that includes Davido, Burna boy, Asake and Ayra Starr.

    Tyla rose to international fame with the release of her 2023 single “Water”, which entered the top ten in sixteen countries including the United Kingdom and United States.

    “Water” was the first song by a South African soloist to enter the US Billboard Hot 100 in 55 years.

    Tyla becomes the eleventh South African to win a Grammy Award.

    Singer Davido has lost all three categories where he got nominations for the 66th Grammy Awards.

    The Nation reported that Davido’s song ‘Feel’ was nominated for the Best Global Music Performance category, ‘ Timeless’ was nominated for the Album of the Year category and his ‘Unavailable’ was nominated for Best African Music Performance.

    Bagging three nominations as a debut, Davido, however, was unable to win any of the nominations.

    Davido, in an interview with Billboard’s Tetris Kelly at the Pre-Grammy show, just before the show started said he would go into a wild celebration if he clinches the award for the Best African Music Performance category.

    Davido had stated: “I am just happy that we all get to shine. What if there was no (African) category? So, at the end of the day, we should all be happy that we have this category, something to call our own. Whoever wins, it’s okay. If I win, we are celebrating. We go crazy.”

    However, female South African rapper, Tyla, won the award for her song ‘Water.’

    Davido during the interview added that the African Music Category at the premier global music award was long overdue.

    The five Nigerian music stars, Burna Boy, Davido, Olamide, Ayra Starr, and Asake, who bagged a total of nine nominations at the 2024 Grammy awards have lost out in the four nominated categories.

    Burna Boy, who lead the list with four nominations including Best Melodic Rap Performance for his song, ‘Sittin’ on Top of the World’ featuring 21 Savage; Best Global Music Performance for the song, ‘Alone;’ Best African Music Performance for the song ‘City Boys;’ and Best Global Music Album for his seventh album, ‘I Told Them,’ lost in the four categories.

    Davido followed with three nominations including Best Global Music Performance for the song, ‘Feel,’ Best African Music Performance for the song, ‘Unavailable’ featuring Musa Keys, and Best Global Music Album for his fourth studio album, ‘Timeless.’

    Olamide, Asake and Ayra Starr all got nominated in the newly created category, Best African Music Performance for their songs, ‘Amapiano,’ and ‘Rush’ respectively.

    However, in the Best Global Music Performance, Burna Boy’s ‘Alone’ and Davido’s ‘Feel’ lost to Béla Fleck, Edgar Meyer, Zakir Hussain, and Rakesh Chaurasia, who all collaborated for the song, ‘Pashto.’

    In the Best Global Music Album category, Burna Boy’s ‘I Told Them’ and Davido’s ‘Timeless’ lost again to ‘This Moment’ by Shakti comprising Shankar Mahadevan, Selvaganesh Vinayakram, Ganesh Rajagopalan, and Ustad Zakhir Hussain.

    The Best Melodic Rap Performance category also saw Burna Boy’s collaboration with 21 Savage ‘Sittin’ on Top of the World’ losing to Lil Durk and J Cole’s ‘All My Life.’

    Burna Boy, Davido, Olamide, Asake and Ayra Starr were all floored by 22-year-old South African singing sensation, Tyla Laura Seethal, whose song, ‘Water’ won the category.

    Meanwhile, Davido, who had openly confessed to praying to win the Grammy award recently said in an interview that he’s deserving of 20 Grammys considering all he had churned out over the years.

    “Shout-out to the Recording Academy. This is my first nomination ever. So it’s crazy to get three at once. We worked really hard on this album [‘Timeless’]. I was just really patient. So, if you ask me if I deserve Grammys in the past, I already need 20 Grammys. But, like I said, God’s timing is the best. We will see what happens.”

    However, Burna Boy made history as the first Afrobeats performer ever to play at the Grammys at the 2024 edition. He performed one of hit singles, ‘Sittin on Top of the World’ alongside Brandy and 21 Savage.
