    Delay is not denial – Davido rejoices over Grammy nominations

    Afrobeats artist, David Adeleke aka Davido, is in ecstasy as he finally bagged Grammy Nominations.

    The ‘Feel’ crooner bagged a total of three nominations in the 66th Grammys.

    His fourth studio album, ‘Timeless’ was nominated in the Best Global Music Album category while ‘Unavailable’ and ‘Feel’ were nominated in the Best African Music Performance and Best Global Music Performance categories, respectively.

    Celebrating his achievement, the elated singer wrote via his X handle, “3 nominations at the Grammys! Delay is not denial!”

    Davido will contest with his compatriots, Burna Boy and Arooj Aftab, Silvana Estrada, Béla Fleck, Falu, and Gaurav Shah for the Best Global Music Performance gong.

    He would also lock horns with Burna Boy, Susana Baca, Shakti, and Bokante in the Best Global Music Album category.

    In the Best African Music Performance category, he will face off with familiar names like, Asake, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, and South Africa’s Tyla.

    In anticipation of the 2024 Grammy Awards, some Nigerian singers and songwriters have made the list of those nominated for the prestigious award.

    The likes of Davido, Burna Boy, Olamide, and Ayra Starr have received Grammy nominations.

    According to reports, specific songs by these artists qualified for the nominations after being submitted to the event organisers.

    The following songs are confirmed nominees for the Grammy Awards:

    – “Amapiano” by ASAKE & Olamide

    – “City Boys” by Burna Boy

    – “UNAVAILABLE” by Davido Featuring Musa Keys

    – “Rush” by Ayra Starr

    – “Water” by Tyla

    Report also shows that Davido, Burna Boy, and a few others are nominated in more than two to three categories.

    Additionally, these nominations signal the introduction of three new categories:

    – Best Pop Dance Recording.

    – Best African Music Performance.

    – Best Alternative Jazz Album.

    The Grammy Awards are scheduled for February 4, 2024, at the Arena in Los Angeles.

    Blessing CEO apologises to Davido over online debt saga

    Controversial relationship expert, Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has unreservedly apologised to afrobeats singer, Davido for incessantly ridiculing him over an alleged N4.5 million debt.

    The Nation reported that Blessing CEO had called out the singer a week ago on social media, alleging that he owed Lagos celebrity auto dealer, Ikechukwu Ogbona, better known as IVD Motors, N4.5 million for a car he allegedly purchased for his logistics manager, Israel DMW.

    In response, IVD stated on Instagram that Davido wasn’t owing him a dime, thereby retracting Blessing claims.

    Reacting to the development in a post on his official account, Davido, who has been facing a series of debt accusations online, warned that no one should beg him when the retaliation begins.

    On Monday, the self-proclaimed relationship expert was brought in for questioning by the police over Davido’s petition against her.

    Barely 24 hours after leaving the police station, Blessing shared a video on her Instagram page on Tuesday, tendering a public apology to the singer for calling him out.

    Davido: Singer Portable clarifies song collaboration with Dammy Krane

    Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola Oyegbile, popularly known as Portable, has explained the purpose of his recent song created with Dammy Krane.

    He stated that the song was not intended as a diss track directed at Davido, contrary to people’s assumption.

    Recall that reports emerged on social media that Portable and Dammy Krane had recorded a diss track against Davido during their studio session.

    Reacting to the rumours via a video message making the rounds on X, Portable explained that his studio session with Krane was strictly business and had nothing to do with his beef with Davido.

    The ‘Zazoo’ singer added that the song he recorded with Dammy Krane was a prayer song.

    Speaking in Pidgin, he said: “Dammy Krane sing with me una say we insult Davido. It was strictly business. Music is business.

    “Now, because of say Dammy Krane dey fight with Davido make we no sing together? Uncle Dammy Krane and uncle Davido make una forgive each other.”

    Singer Victor AD has finally broken the silence over what transpired between him and Davido that led to the crash of their friendship.

    He spoke on the speculations that he wrote Davido’s hit song ‘Jowo.’

    Recall that a report went viral on the X app a few months ago, claiming Victor AD said Davido “stole” his hit song ‘Jowo’ from him during a studio session.

    Debunking the rumour in an interview with Naija FM, Victor AD clarified that he didn’t write the song.

    He said the rumours almost ruined his relationship with Davido.

    Victor AD said: “From nowhere, someone speculating that Victor AD wrote ‘Jowo.’ I’m not social media-savvy. Most times, before I notice happenings on social media, it would be two days after the matter has trended.

    “My manager actually called my attention to the ‘Jowo’ controversy on social media but I didn’t take it seriously. Later on, I said let me just check the trend on social media. Then a few hours later, I saw Davido’s message. He was like, ‘Whatsup na? Wettin dey sup with this whole ‘Jowo’ thing?’. And I said I didn’t know anything about it.

    “I told him that based on the love and respect I have for him I can’t do something that will tarnish his image. I’m not even the type of person that will claim what I’m not. Why would I be seeking credit for what I didn’t do?”

    Since the incident, Davido and Victor AD are no longer following each other on social media.

    The duo collaborated on ‘Tire You’ before their relationship grew cold after rumours that Victor AD accused Davido of song theft.

    Sensational artist, David Adeleke aka Davido, took to his Instagram page to pay tribute to his late three-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke who tragically passed on a year ago.

    The toddler reportedly drowned in a pool at the singer’s Banana Island residence on Monday, October 31, 2022.

    Honoring his son, Davido shared a mourning emoji on Tuesday, keeping the memory of his beloved son alive.

    Many found comfort in that Davido and his wife received a double blessing from the heavens as a silver lining to the loss of Ifeanyi.

    Amaju Pinnick reportedly sues Davido, demands N2.3billion with apology

    Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Amaju Pinnick has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Davido for an alleged breach of contract.

    The Nation reported that Amaju had last month, called out publicly the lackadaisical attitude of superstar singer, Davido, while also being angered by the failure of the singer to show up at his event in Warri.

    He said despite paying him an exorbitant amount of $94,600 and booking a private jet for his crew, he still failed to show up.

    The Nation learnt that the organisers of the concert have filed a lawsuit seeking N2.3 billion against Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) Limited.

    Amaju filed the lawsuit under the name Brownhill Investment Company Limited, asking for N150 million as legal and professional fees and an additional N30 million as the cost of filing the suit.

    To add to it, he is seeking an injunction to prevent Davido from performing at any show or event in Nigeria until he refunds the payment he received.

    Award-winning singer, David Adeleke aka Davido, has gushed over the sportsmanship spirit of Cameroonian ex-UFC champion, Francis Ngannou in his boxing debut.

    Ngannou lost a controversial decision against WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury in the pair’s boxing match on Saturday night in Saudi Arabia, despite knocking down the Briton in Round 3.

    The Cameroonian continued to outbox Fury for much of the bout only to be denied a victory when the scorecards were read aloud.

    Reacting, Davido insisted that Francis won the match.
