  • Davido supports uncle’s gubernatorial campaign

    Who says having a superstar for a nephew doesn’t have its perk? Well, Senator Dr Ademola Adeleke must be enjoying the free publicity he is getting from his nephew megastar as he flagged off his campaign to Osun governor on Tuesday.

    With elections set to hold on September 22, Davido took to his Instagram account to share the poster of his uncle, who was elected into the Nigerian senate to represent Osun West senatorial zone last year after another of his uncle, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who held that position, died in April 2017.

    “Osun will be great again,” Davido captioned the campaign poster of his unlce, who is running under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

    Davido who recently won African Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards Festival and released a new song, ‘Aje’ in collaboration with Peruzzi, Yonda and FreshVDM supported his uncle when he vied for the senatorial seat last year.

    Famed as the ‘dancing senator’ after several videos of him dancing went viral, Senator Aemola Adeleke is the father of Sina Rambo and B Red who are both cousins of Davido and also hip hop musicians.

  • Davido shines at VGMA 2018

    It seems Nigerian Pop Star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido is having the best of times. A few hours after he was unveiled as the artiste with the most nominations for this year’s Headies Awards, the Nigerian singer emerged as one of the biggest winners at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) 2018.

    Held Saturday night the VGMA which took place at the Accra International Conference Centre saw the Nigerian superstar take home the coveted ‘Best African Artiste of the year’, beating the likes of Wizkid, Tiwa Savage and Olamide alongside other super stars from Africa like Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C and Toofan.

    Other notable winners at the VGMA 2018 wereSarkodie, who bagged two awards for ‘Hiplife/Hip-hop artiste of the year’ and ‘Best Rapper of the year’ alongside Kidi who was recently nominated by the Headies in its ‘Rookie of the year’ category, who got the ‘Highlife Song of the Year’ for his single, ‘Odo’.

    Although it’s just the second quarter of the year, Davido seems to be having a great year so far. Earlier on, he had won the ‘African Artiste of the Year’ at the Soundcity MVP Awards.

    Also, in the recently released nominees list of the 12th edition of the Headies, Davido leads with six nominations, closely followed by Simi, Wizkid and Olamide with five nominations each.

    His songs, ‘If’ and ‘Fia’ were both nominated for the ‘Best Pop Single’ category while the video for his track, ‘Like Dat’ was nominated in the ‘Best Music Video’ category.

    Other categories in which he is nominated are Artiste of the Year, and Song of the Year (‘If’, ‘Fia’)

    Speaking on the recent announcement, The national president of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Iyalode Alaba Lawson has urged the Federal Government to turn the country’s 198 million population into an asset. by the NPC, Lawson said that Nigeria’s Population is now estimated to be million thus making our country as the 7th largest in the world.

    “Population could be an asset, but if not planned it equally poses a lot of challenges in various areas like provision of infrastructure, adequate health care system and service; an appropriate educational system and employment for the populace,” she said.

    “Therefore, in meeting these challenges,the NACCIMA national President said it require proper planning by Government at all levels and close collaboration with other stakeholders.

    She disclosed that NACCIMA as the voice of business and a national body engaged in promoting activities of the private sectors in all major sectors is ready to work with Governments at all levels to ensure that the Nigerian population becomes an asset.

     

  • Davido gets massive welcome in Canada

    It was a tumultuous crowd that welcomed Davido as he performed his first show on the Canadian leg of his 30 Billion World Tour in Montreal, Quebec on Friday.

    The FIA crooner had posted a video of his performance on Instagram. Captioning the video, he wrote, ‘MONTREAL THANK YOU! First day of Canada tour was LITTY!’

    Singing to a packed auditorium, Davido put up an impressive show which left the crowd singing his songs after him.

    On Saturday, Davido performed at The Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto and on Sunday, he performed at Winnipeg.

    When celebrities are not good with themselves, they either confront each other headlong at the slightest opportunity or simple avoid each other.

    This was the case between two Nigerian rave singers, Davido and Wizkid until they mend fences last December when they played at each other’s concert.

    Wizkid had announced on his Twitter page on Wednesday, about a new pet, saying it wasn’t what everyone was expecting. It turned out that the new addition to Wizkid’s home was a goat.

    To underscore the fact that both artistes are really getting along, Davido threw a jibe at Wizkid’s acquisition of a goat as new pet. It’s no longer news that Wizkid has gotten for himself a goat as a pet and Davido had a hilarious reaction to this latest development.

    The OBO crooner posted the photo of the goat that has amused everyone with the caption “Wizkid don buy goat lmao.”

    The conversation had since shifted from the weird kind of pet to Davido’s reaction, and one could tell that fans are happy that the two acts are getting along well.

    With three professionals from the arts and culture sector on the list of 50 Nigerians whose activities in 2017 had influenced on the country, the creative industry, again, stresses its relevance in building a strong nation.

    Among such influencers listed are top moguls like Aliko Dangote, a well-known industrialist and Africa’s richest businessman. Also on top of the list is President Muhammadu Buhari leading other politicians such as Nyesom Wike, Bukola Saraki, Ayodele Fayose and Bola Ahmed Tinubu, among other political giants who had influence on the year in review.

    Davido releases locations, dates for `30bn Africa tour

    David Adeleke a.k.a Davido, has released dates for his latest “30 billion Africa tour, ” after expressing excitement on his social media platform successes recorded from his two hit singles, “If” and Fall”

    The two songs, ‘If’ and ‘fall’ have gone diamond and platinum respectively.

    Davido who just completed a “UK tour” which included performances in Birmingham, Manchester and London said the tour will include to five different countries.

    The current Best African Act (MOBO) revealed the different countries in a picture to his fans on Twitter and Instagram.

    He wrote in a caption, “30 billion Africa tour starts next month!! What countries will you be attending” #30BillionAfricantour!! We are not stopping. New music comes too”.

    30 billion Africa tour will kick off on March, 3rd, 2018 in Kigali, Rwanda.

    The music star will showcase his talent to Central Africa when he will be performing in Kinshasa and Brazzaville respectively.

    West African cities, Niamey and Dakar will also have the opportunity to see the music star perform some of his hottest hits.

    If Wednesday’s Instagram post of afro singer Davido is anything to go by, all expressions indicate that he is set to drop another song with South African hip hop star, Cassper Nyovest. After a very successful 2017, he started 2018 on a good note with a new single, DOE, and Larry Gaga.

    However, the FIA crooner posted that he was in South Africa to discuss the video shoot of ‘Baba’, a song in which the South African artiste featured Davido.

    ‘Pulled up at Mufasa crib last night to discuss our video shoot coming up and ended up making another smash @casspernyovest,’ was the expression displayed on his Instagram page

    The Nigerian Singer and Songwriter was recently in Haiti where he was given a star’s welcome, performing his hit songs to a crowd that sang along with him.

    Wave-making Nigerian singers; Davido, Wizkid and Tiwa Savage have made the list of top 50 footballers and entertainers on the African Social Media Power Report, released on Friday, January 26, 2018.

    Senegalese rapper Akon and Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah are the two most followed Africans on the social media channels – Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

    The Power 50 that has a combined following of almost 400million, was compiled by Lagos-based sports communication company, CampsBay Media.

    “In a world where social media continues to play a big role, the influence of African entertainers and footballers, the crème of popular culture on our continent, continues to fascinate and that is why we have compiled this list,” said Lolade Adewuyi, chief strategist at CampsBay Media.

    “We have tried as much as possible to gather the top African pop and sport stars into the list in order to show their influence across the three key social media platforms of Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. We hope that the Power Report will be an annual ranking to gauge their growing impact as well as enable market planners and researchers to see the possibilities inherent in their influence.”

    Personalities from 12 countries are represented on the list with the top 10 places filled by Akon, Salah, footballer Didier Drogba, Moroccan stand-up comedian Gad el Maleh, South African comedian and TV show host Trevor Noah, Cameroonian footballer Samuel Eto’o, Moroccan actor Jamel Debbouze, Nigerian singer Davido and South African actress Charlize Theron.

    On the African Social Media Power Report: Top 50 are 13 actors/actresses, 14 singers, nine rappers, eight footballers, four comedians and two music producers/DJs.

    Announcing the song and video on his Instagram page, Davido, who recently made the top 10 list of African footballers and entertainers with most followers on social media wrote; ‘Is it cuz I chop like king yeaaaa! NEW @larrygaaga X OBO ‘DOE’ out worldwide.’

    ‘Doe’ was produced by Fresh and the video was shot and directed by Clarence Peters of Capital Dreams.
