  • Davido celebrates Wizkid

    Nigerian musician David Adeleke aka Davido posted a heartfelt message to celebrate the birthday of Afropop star Ayodeji Balogun aka Wizkid.

    Davido, who is currently in Paris ahead of the Afro Punk concert, shared the message on his Twitter handle @iam_davido, as Wizkid turned 28, on Monday,.

    He wrote, “Happy birthday brother!! @wizkidayo keep soaring! God keep you safe! Your children go see you live long. Amen Gbefun!”

    The ‘Assurance’ crooner also took to his Instagram page @davidooficial to share a video of himself dancing to Wizkid’s hit song ‘Soco’.

    He captioned it, “Happy birthday @wizkidayo!!! Keep soaring my G.”

    Davido’s celebration of Wizkid birthday is an indication that they have buried the hatchet.

    This is the first birthday celebration that one or both of them have sent open messages to each other as they had a long standing rift which ended in December 2017.

    The supremacy war ended when Davido and Wizkid appeared and performed in each other’s shows to showcase their reconciliation.

    Meanwhile, fans of the two star artists have expressed their gratitude over the open love shown in the message, with some fans pleading for a collaboration.

    @Onyeoma_Donald tweeted, “What about a collaboration between the two of you as birthday gift? RT if you agree.”

    @King_naks wrote, “Amen. Strong prayer from the brother. Good heart. Live long and let love lead. Looking forward to your collaboration.”

    @Gfsoloking said, “Amen! That’s brotherly love. Free yourself from hate.”

    @Iam_sleekchick tweeted, “OBO, we want a collaboration from the two of you. Start making preparations and release it on your birthday.”

    However, more birthday messages continue to pour in for Wizkid from fellow celebrities and fans alike.

    The singer, who started recording music at age 11, has been featured in the 2018 Guinness World Record for his contribution to Drake’s hit song ‘’One Dance’.

    He recently became the first African singer to walk the runway for international fashion brand Dolce and Gabbana alongside supermodel, Naomi Campbell.

  • Davido hints at marriage with lover

    After singing ‘Assurance’ for and presenting a sports car to his girlfriend Chioma to mark her birthday, hip hop superstar Davido has revealed he wants to spend the rest of his life with her.

    Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Davido posted a picture of Chioma, who goes by the name ChefChi, on Instagram.

    “The Love of my life,” Davido who has been blazing on the global music scene captioned the picture.

    “Can’t wait to spend forever with you.”

    Expectedly, the post attracted loads of response from his fans. As at Sunday evening, it had over 11,000 comments and over 383,000 likes.

    Davido already has two daughters from two different baby mamas.

  • Davido wins Best International Act at the 2018 bet awards

    On Sunday, BET Networks recognized an exceptional lineup of artists, entertainers, cultural provocateurs and inspiring humanitarians across over 19 categories at the 18th Annual BET Awards. The ceremony, hosted by Academy and Grammy-award winner, Jamie Foxx, aired live from the Microsoft Theater at L.A. LIVE.

    This year’s broadcast celebrates 18 years of impactful performances from the hottest names in the business and appearances from entertainment’s most talked-about players. More than ever, the BET Awards continues to tackle and support culturally and socially relevant narratives and conversations, setting the standard for one of the most intently unconventional, news-provoking and talked-about broadcasts.

    Nigerian musician Davido, won the award for “Best International Act” beating fellow nominees Tiwa Savage, Booba(France), Cassper Nyovest (South Africa),Dadju (France), Distruction Boyz (South Africa), Fally Ipupa (DR Congo), J Hus (UK), Niska (France), Stefflon Don (UK) and Stormzy(UK). During his acceptance speech, Davido sent his condolences to D’banj and also urged American artistes to collaborate with their counterparts in Africa.

    “And as I go on, I wanna talk about Africa. My continent

    has been so blessed to influence many cultures,” he said.

    “Come to Africa, eat the food, wear the clothes. Get ready for me, let’s collaborate. My album drops this year. J. Cole. Yo Quay, I’m waiting on that verse Quay.”

    Nicki Minaj took over the BET stage with a fierce version of her current single, “Chun Li.” She later re-appeared alongside 2 Chainz and Big Sean as featured artists onYG’s performance of “Big Bank.”

    Meek Mill delivered a powerful performance of his first new song since being released from prison, “Stay Woke,” addressing the abhorrent inequalities in the criminal justice system, and included vivid imagery of police violence and mass incarceration.

    Presenters included the entertainment industry’s top black actors, artists, and entrepreneurs including Michael B. Jordan, Kevin Hart, T.I., L.L. Cool J, Bobby Brown, Tyra Banks, Tyler Perry and Questlove.

  • 2018: Davido Wins Best International Act @ BET Award

    Nigeria’s celebrated music performer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has won the BET (Black Entertainment Television) Awards as “Best International Act.”

    Davido edged out his Nigerian contemporary, Tiwa Savage, Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Stormzy (UK), Fally Ipupa (DR Congo), and others to cop the highly coveted award.

    However, Davido in his acceptance speech sent out condolences to Dbanj over the loss of his son.

    He also thanked BET for the award and used the medium to promote the African culture.

    “Come to Africa, eat the food, wear the clothes. Get ready for me, let’s collaborate. My album drops this year. J. Cole. Yo Quay, I’m waiting on that verse Quay.”

    The win makes it a second for the Nigerian multiple award winner; the first was in 2014.

    This comes shortly after he was spotted with American record producer, DJ Khaled, in the U.S.

    The event was highlighted with a slew of performances from some of the finest international acts like J.Cole, Nicki Minaj, Migos, Snoop Dogg among others.

    The BET Awards celebrates achievements in entertainment and honours music, sports, television, and movies.

    The 18th ceremony was held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday and hosted by Jamie Foxx.

  • Davido wins BET Best International Act Award 2018

    Nigerian singer Davido has won the Best International Act at the 2018 BET Award.
    The pop singer won the award on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at an event which held at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.

    To win the award, the ”Assurance” singer beat fellow nominees, Tiwa Savage, Booba (France), Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Dadju (France), Distruction Boyz (South Africa), Fally Ipupa (DR Congo), J Hus(UK), Niska (France), Stefflon Don (UK) and Stormzy

    It was the first time any Nigerian will receive the BET award on the main stage, with hundreds of celebrity audience cheering.

    Davido used the opportunity to condole D’Banj, who lost his son on Sunday, and he also urged more foreign stars to collaborate with Nigerians/Africans, calling out names like J.Cole and Migos.

  • Swazzi features Davido in ‘Je Ko Balance’

    Enugu State-born artiste, Okolo Miracle Obiechina, otherwise called Swazzi has featured Davido in his latest single titled ‘Je Ko Balance.’

    Swazzi said the FIA singer surprised him with the feature

    “I never planned on featuring Davido on the song when I was making it,” he said.

    “I recorded the full song in 24hrs with my producer and played it to a friend to tell me what he thinks about it, he then collected the song and played it to Davido and he loved it and voiced on it the following day. When I heard David voiced on the song I was so excited cos I didn’t see that coming said Swazzi.”

    ‘Je Ko Balance’, featuring Davido is out on all music platforms and also on Swazzis YouTube channel “officialswazzi” and @officialswazzi on Instagram.

    Swazzi who has worked with stars like Olamide, Cabo Snoop, Reminisce and Dj Coublon said works are in progress for the visuals of ‘Je Ko Balance.’

    “You know Davido has been on tour, so he hasn’t been around that much for the shoot, but we already talked about the shoot. So we are shooting soon.”

    On what stands him out in the industry, the Afro-highlife singer said, “I’m bringing loads of new vibes to the industry that will make me stand out, from the way I sing, to the way I dress and also the fact that I add Swahili, French and Portuguese to my song makes me stand out already.”

    Popular Nigerian singers, Davido and Wizkid have made the list of the 2018 Forbes Africa under 30 individuals that are making waves in their industries across the continent.

    The list is divided into three: Creative, Technology and Business.

    Other celebrities across Africa that made the list are Sarkodie, Nasty C, Cassper Nyovest, Falz, Yemi Alade, Beverly Naya, and Sonia Irabor among others.

    Also, fashion entrepreneurs Adebayo Oke-Lawal of Orange Culture and Tania Omotayo of Ziva Lagos; beauty entrepreneurs Anita Adetola Adetoye of Anita Brows, Joyce Jacob were also named.

    In its fourth edition, the analysts described the list as “our authentic and most definitive list of Africa’s most promising young change-makers.”

    They say they are, for the first time, inspired by the growing number of young men and women entrepreneurs, hence they have expanded it to bring 30 game-changers, all under the age of 30, in each of the three sectors – business, technology and creative.

    The 90 in total are challenging conventions and rewriting the rules for the next generation of entrepreneurs, creatives and tech gurus.

    “We put in months of rigorous research, sifting through over 600 nominations, vetting them for weeks, verifying and investigating them. We favored entrepreneurs with fresh ideas and took into account their business size, revenue, location, potential, struggles, social impact and resilience. A panel of judges then debated the final 90. You may not know many of their names now and they may not be richest people in Africa, but they could be the billionaires of tomorrow gracing our future covers. This compilation is exciting, inspiring and offers a sneak peek into Africa’s future,” said the researchers.

  • Davido’s “Assurance” Hits Number One on Naija Top Ten – MTV Base

    Buzzing Nigerian street-hop artiste; Mr Real makes an appearance on this week’s episode of MTV Base’s Official Naija Top Ten countdown show. The singer who came up in the last quarter of 2017 off the wave of the shaku-shaku rave has been on an applaudable run.

    As always, the top ten chart sees some reshuffling; Wizkid’s “SOCO” which had been on the number one spot for four weeks took a fall to the second spot; making room for Davido’s “Assurance”. Wizkid’s fall to the second spot also caused Mayorkun’s “Bobo” to make a decline to the third spot while Patoranking’s new single “Suh Different” made a debut on the tenth spot.

    This weeks chart also accommodates Kizz Daniels “4Dayz”, Timaya’s “Ah Blem Blem”, Mr Real’s ‘Legbegbe” and an array of banging records.

  • Infinix, Davido strike deal

    An original equipment manufacturer (OEM), Infinix Mobility, and music sensation, Davido, have sealed a deal.

    The deal which was sealed in Lagos will make the musical star born David Adedeji Adeleke, the brand ambassador for the OEM.
