    The best way a man can train his children is to allow them to do things by themselves so they can experience life on their own terms. Learning from their mistakes, they can become better people and believe more in themselves.

    Billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola has done just that and this has made him, not just an astute business tycoon, but also a proud father. His daughter, Ifeoluwa Otedola, has carved a niche for herself in the entertainment industry and has become one of the most sought after disco jockeys in Nigeria. Widely known as DJ Cuppy, Ifeoluwa, has always been a source of pride to her father, and despite her choice of career, Otedola has stood by her unconditionally.

    On Tuesday, May 10, 2016, DJ Cuppy reached another milestone which caused her doting father to brim with pride and glow with joy. Ifeoluwa took to her Instagram page to share the news of her graduation with her fans and followers. The celebrity DJ is now an M.Sc degree holder from the New York University Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development.

    DJ Cuppy already has a degree in Business and Economics, which she bagged from King’s College London in July 2014. After two years of hard work, she is now a M.Sc degree holder.

    IN line with her tour of Africa’s charity concerts, Nigerian songwriter and disc jockey, DJ Cuppy has taken her shows to Nairobi, Kenya and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

    The roadshow is part of her ‘Cuppy Takes Africa’ tour. The stop in Nairobi was solely based on Charity work at the Kibera School for Girls. The school is the first free primary school for girls in the community. In Dar es Salaam, she visited a charity community center in Kigamboni Community Center, which provides free nursery and primary education for children without access to public schools.

    The ambitious month-long tour started on August 1st 2015 in Lagos Nigeria followed by Senegal, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda is hence the sixth country in her tour and will be preceded by Uganda and South Africa.

    She says the tour aims to give back to the community in each country, as she is passionate about the education of Africa’s future leaders.

    Through the generous support of the Dangote Foundation, she will visit and donate support organizations such as schools, orphanage and women centers in every country she tours.

    In Kenya, Cuppy is said to have visited the Kibera School For Girls with her team and sponsors, The Dangote Foundation and Guaranty Trust Bank.

    Kibera is the largest slum in Africa, located three miles from the center of downtown Nairobi and home to an estimated 1 million people. The school addresses gender inequality, gives free nursery and primary education to girls and also focuses on community empowerments and health.

    In Tanzania Cuppy visited the Kigamboni Community Center(KCC). The center addresses the issues of poverty and the lack of access to education and other learning opportunities for the youth in Kigamboni. KCC provides free nursery and primary education for children without access to public schools; it also provides a social education, talent development classes and a vocational training programme. The ‘Cuppy Takes Africa’ tour chose this center because of its dedication to fostering talent and creating access to education to its community.

    It was a rare mix of personalities at the Federal Palace, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, as daughter of millionaire Femi Otedola, DJ Cuppy, kicked off her concert of 8-country tour in Lagos.

    Tagged ‘Cuppy Takes Africa’, the much publicised show witnessed the convergence of music lovers, fashion buffs, business moguls and others who added glitz to the ceremony.

    Guests at the show include Femi Otedola, Aliko Dangote, Segun Agbaje, Donald Duke, Ali Baba and Temi Otedola among others.

    The concert which aims to appreciate DJs and Producers in the music industry, featured DJ Neo who kicked off the concert. Others are DJ Nana, Leriq, DJ Olu, Spellz, DJ Obi, Ikon, DJ Caise, Pheelz, Legendury Beatz, DJ Hazan and Young John who had Lil Kesh perform on his set.

    Cuppy, who rounded off the show, performed on two sets, both of which included dance choreographies and an electrifying blend of native and international music mash ups.

    In between both sets, a brief interview session held for DJ Jimmy Jatt, who could not attend the concert, and was screened for the crowd – a special way of showing appreciation to the legendary DJ Jimmy Jatt by the burgeoning DJ Cuppy.

    Also, a special tribute was paid in another video to appreciate the support of Dangote Foundation, which sponsored the charity visit to St Peters Primary School, Epe, Lagos, earlier in the week.

    Another sponsor, Guaranty Trust Bank also had its officials at the show.

    Cuppy and her team have seven more countries to visit after last Saturday’s outing. The countries are Senegal, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda and South Africa.

    In Forbes Woman Africa, one of the magazines from Forbes, Florence Otedola aka Dj Cuppy speaks on her experience pursuing a career in a field that has been mostly male-dominated for the past years.

    Cuppy started exploring music at 17, playing at London’s top nightclubs and fashion week events.

    Last year in July 2014, following her graduation from King’s College London, Cuppy released her mixtape, House Of Cuppy. The compilation features remixes of chart-topping Nigerian records and launched her brand House of Cuppy was launched in London, Lagos and New York.

    She was also appointed as an official Nigerian Tourism Ambassador by the Honorable Minister for Culture and Tourism.

    Oil magnate and business mogul, Femi Otedola, is a very happy man at the moment. It is not about his bulging bank accounts or the appreciating stock of Forte Oil. It is about the success story of his daughter, Ife a.k.a. DJ Cuppy, who graduated from one of the world’s most prestigious institutions, King’s College, London, on Monday.

    Otedola is no doubt a proud father on account of the new feat attained by his brilliant daughter, who as a student is already making a lot of impact in the music and entertainment industry. And what is more, Ife graduated with a Second Class Upper in Business Management.

    And the 21-year old disc jockey is not relenting on her oars. She has already secured admission into New York University for her Master’s degree programme. She will be moving to the United States in a matter of weeks to get busy again with lectures.
