Don Jazzy as victim of cyber bullying

IT seems celebrated Nigerian beat maker, Michael Collins, aka Don Jazzy, has been bullied by a fan on Twitter, following his silence on the subject of the purported threat issued to Igbo residents in Lagos by Oba Rilwan Akiolu.

A follower who tweets with the handle, @iam_SkySwag besieged the Mavin Record boss’ page with messages accusing Jazzy of complacency in the whole Igbo threat saga.

“@DonJazzy, you think cause you now associate with Fashola, that will now make you to play deaf ear to things like these? I mean what Oba said. Smh,” he said.

“Sometimes I ask if you are really from Igbo…all these Oba of Lagos and Igbo stuff. You just sit on top and pretend nothing happened,” said another.

A worried Don Jazzy however defied that medium, preferring a statement on his Instagram. He said: “I am a Nigerian first and an Igbo man second. Fashola has treated everyone in Lagos fairly as far as I know and I am proud to be associated with him. #mentor

“As a wise/civilized/respectful Igbo man, I will not desecrate the stool of royalty, even tho I totally frown at that recording. But I will tell you for free that we all have the freedom to choose whom to vote for & no one can force you or me to vote as he/she pleases. #IDJA.”

  • Doxy takes shots at Olamide in new single

Doxy takes shots at Olamide in new single

HE might be new to the Nigerian music industry, but budding rapper and freestylist, Dolapo Oyatomi Junior, aka Doxy says that he is ready to run with the big guns. He made this known in his new track titled Baby, in which he takes shots at indigenous rappers, Olamide and Phyno.

Explaining the rationale behind the move, the young artiste said that Olamide and Phyno, two artistes he respects so much in the rap game “are just too good and I want to rap just like them, but the truth is that Doxy can’t be Olamide or Phyno, just like Olamide can’t be Phyno and Phyno can’t be Olamide,” he said.

The song, Baby, according to the artiste, is all about everyone minding their business because people are gifted differently. He noted that this is one of the laws in the music industry, just like his previous track, My Business.

“Only a deep rap artiste can understand the whole words. The chorus, “I love you, hun Baby, I never wanna let you go,” means loving the gift God has given me and I will never let it go due to the love I have for it. God has given me a gift just as He has given Olamide, Phyno and other great artistes. I have to make good use of it.I know I’m different. I would love to work with both artistes. I also look forward to working with the likes of MI, Vector, Ice-Prince, Don Jazzy, D Banj, Banky W, Praiz, Davido, Wizkid, Samklef, Reminisce and other great artistes.

Season of ‘Naira rain’ on brand ambassadors

THERE are those who believe that drama is the best form of art. But the drama that greeted brand endorsements this year was far removed from mere artistry when Hafeez Ayetoro, better known as Saka, switched brand loyalty.

Saka’s move from MTN to Etisalat sent a satirical jolt to the brand and entertainment world with the line, I don port, thereby becoming something of an anthem.

A couple of artistes also smiled to the banks, as celebs put pen to papers with different brands.

Among those who joined the telecom world as ambassadors are Wande Coal, Naeto C, MI, Lynxxx, Waje, Omawumi, Bez, Flavour and Burna Boy.

D’banj was welcomed back to the Globacom family.

It will be recalled that he once had a spat with the outfit over sing-on fees.

Singers Sasha P, Ice Prince, Olamide, Seyi Shay also signed deals with Etisalat.

While the likes of Don Jazzy, D’Prince, Tiwa Savage, Praiz, Kcee, Iyanya Mbuk, Mike Anyasodo and Chidinma joined the list of MTN ambassadors, actress Stephanie Okereke signed an endorsement deal with a foreign sanitary company.

Others like singer Emma Nyra and BBA-The Chase housemate, Beverly Osu, got endorsement deals from foreign beauty companies.
