I date to have a good time, not to marry – BBNaija’s Doyin

Big Brother Naija star Doyin has shared her unconventional approach to relationships and marriage.

In a recent interview with media personality Olufemi Daniel, Doyin revealed that she dates for companionship, not necessarily for marriage.

“I never really date to get married; I date to have a good time. I date because I enjoy your company; I date for companionship, whether it leads to marriage or not,” Doyin said.

When asked about s3x, she clarified that it’s a part of companionship, but not the primary reason she dates.

“I mean, s3x is part of companionship, isn’t it? But it’s not the main reason I’m dating. I date for companionship, not for marriage, so if it doesn’t lead to marriage, I’m fine; we had a good time. But if it does okay, I’m fine with doing a life partnership if a marriage doesn’t come up”, she said.

Doyin’s stance challenges the traditional view of marriage as the ultimate goal in relationships, instead, she prioritises emotional connection and a lifetime partnership, whether or not it’s legally recognised.

“At the end of the day, what is marriage really? Is it about signing papers? It’s not important to me, and I’m not trying to talk down on constitutional marriage.

“Companionship is important to me, so I would like to have a lifetime of companionship, whether we’re married or not. I just want to have someone who is my person for the rest of my life, so it’s not important to me that we have to be legally married,” she concluded.

Ladies ready for marriage, kids without money – Doyin

Big Brother Naija reality star, Doyin has shared her opinion on financial independence for women, stating that single ladies should prioritise having their own money over love and marriage.

According to her, relying solely on a man is the biggest mistake a woman can make.

Doyin emphasised the importance of financial security and independence before considering marriage or having children.

She wrote on Snapchat: “The biggest mistake you can make as a young lady is depending completely on a man. Attaining independence should be the first thing on your mind… before love, marriage, or kids. Money first!

“If you don’t have your own money, a reasonable amount of money saved up, you’re NOT ready for marriage and most definitely NOT ready to have kids. You need your own money!!

“Even when you have your money sef, after marriage just have one child first and watch what type of father he is before you start giving birth like a chicken. Only have the number of kids you can afford to cater for on your own. Life happens.

“Don’t ever believe that lie of divorce is not an option because it is. We don’t pray for it but life happens. There is no better back up plan than having your own money, not your husband’s money, your own money”.

Your partner isn’t responsible for your needs before marriage – Doyin tells ladies

Reality TV star, Doyinsola Anuoluwapo David, popularly known as Doyin, has advised ladies against being entitled to their partners’ money until they are married.

Doyin noted that whatever a man does for a woman in a relationship is out of generosity not because he is obligated to do so.

She stated this while responding to a female fan who solicited her advice after her boyfriend dumped her for calling him “stingy.”

Sharing the screenshot of the message via her Instagram story, she wrote: “I don’t think he’s stingy because he doesn’t randomly give you money. If you have a man that gives to you when you ask then you’re lucky to have a responsible man but he doesn’t owe you random money just because you are his girlfriend.

“Until a man has married you, he is not obligated to be responsible for you….whatever he does is out of the generosity of his heart but you should never feel entitled to his money.

“Don’t let the internet deceive you, it’s nice to have a man who is intentional with his generosity but it’s not your birthright. There is nothing genetically programmed in a man that makes it easier for him to make money than a woman.

“It’s not easy to make money, so no one wants to keep spending ‘randomly’. If you need random money, please get a job.”

The two, who became enemies after Vee Iye dated Venita’s cousin, Neo Akpofure, have been throwing shots at each other.

Reigniting their feud, Venita liked a shady post about Vee Iye where a Twitter user suggested that Vee Iye was using her relationship for clout.

This allegation followed a video Vee Iye shared on her Instagram page where she was seen all booed up with a mystery man.

Venita took to Twitter to like that shady comment and Vee Iye had characteristically retorted back, calling her a fool at 40.

Venita Akpofure, who wasn’t ready to trade words with her, expressed that the past should stay exactly where it belongs.

Reacting via her Instagram page, Doyin explained that given the high rate of paternity fraud, men are right to request for DNA testing.

She wrote: “It’s not a bad thing for your partner to request a DNA test. If he wants to take care of a child that isn’t his, let it be his decision to do that intentionally not because he thinks he’s the father. The rate of paternity fraud is too high for you to think emotionally if your partner asks for a DNA test. It’s a painful request but it’s understandable.”
