El-Kanemi Warriors duo of Rafael Boumsong and Bomai Bukar will make their return to the team’s line-up when they face Kwara United in matchday 31 Globacom Premier league tie today after a week on the sidelines due to injuries.

The club leading goal scorers sustained the injuries during the team’s 1-0 win against Kaduna United in a week 29 league game in Maiduguri. Bukar scored the only goal of the game before he picked-up the injury.

The club’s Technical Adviser, Zachary Baraje told SportingLife that the players have started training and they are available for selection in today’s game.

“I am happy that our two attackers are back from injury and they will be in action for our next home game against Kwara United,” Baraje said.

“We missed their services in our last match against ABS but I have to thank my players for that away draw in Ilorin. We will keep on with our programmes till the end of the season.”

  • El Kanemi Warriors get second win

El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri recorded only their second win in the Nigeria Professional Football League, when they humbled Shooting Stars of Ibadan 2-0 in a Matchday 8 tie.

The travelling woes of the Ibadan side seem to continue, as they conceded the two goals with less than 30 minutes played.

Bamai Bukar scored the first goal for the Maiduguri side after just two minutes, when his header off a corner kick caught Laide Okanlanwon, in goal for Shooting Stars, napping.

The Oluyole Warriors fought back, but the efforts yielded no goals.

There was a bit of controversy in the 28th minute, when El Kanemi went on score the second goal through Babalo, with Laide Okanlanwon, Shooting Stars goalkeeper, on the turf, and the assistant referees’ flag up.

The assistant referee, who was hounded by Shooting Stars players to disallow the goal, will later insist that the flag he raised was just to call the attention of the referee to the fallen goalkeeper, and not to disallow the goal.

The Oluyole Warriors battled back gamely in the second half, and had the lions share of the possession, but it all came to nothing.

Shooting Stars have now lost all four of their games away from home, and have won all four played on front of their fans. El Kanemi Warriors increased their points haul to nine with the victory.
