    Fenerbahce marksman Emmanuel Emenike has rubbished reports quoting him to have said that he was unhappy in Russia.

    In the interview, the Nigeria international complained that he stayed in a glass cage, had problems communicating and was living in solitude.

    “I would like to say at once that all reports in Turkish newspapers to the effect that I was miserable in Moscow – not true.

    “I never said that. Moreover, I had grown to love Russia and its capital city and its people.

    “Playing in Spartak Moscow I became a footballer, which is spoken not only in Turkey or Russia, but throughout Europe.

    “Thank god for what I turned out to be in this club,”says Emmanuel Emenike to Sportbox.ru.

    But the African Cup of Nations top scorer has admitted that it took him a long time adapting to the hustle and bustle of the Russian capital.

    Emeneke told the Russian website: “What surprised me the most in Moscow? At first I could not get used to the frantic pace, but then resigned to it.

    “Like all the people who come for the first time in the capital of Russia, I was surprised by the traffic jams.”

    Finally, the Super Eagle advised the Russian authorities to curb incidents of racism at their stadiums and the Premier League teams to sign more colored players.

    Super Eagles Assistant Coach, Daniel Amokachi, has said the team cannot afford to be without striker Emmanuel Emenike at this year’s World Cup in Brazil.
    “Emenike is one of the key players in our team. We missed him at the FIFA Confederations Cup and his absence was felt,” Amokachi told MTNFootball.com.
    “We will need his service seriously at the World Cup. He is on terrific form and it is impossible to stop him from scoring goals.”
    The Fenerbache striker was top scorer with four goals as Nigeria won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa and his goals also propelled the African champions to a fifth World Cup.
    The 26-year-old centre-forward is powerful, direct and knows his way to goal. He has scored nine goals in 19 matches for Nigeria.
    Emenike was voted seventh best player in Africa for 2013 and was named in CAF Dream XI for 2013.

    Responding, Emenike expressed gratitude to Globacom for signing him as a brand ambassador and promised to continue to work hard with his team mates to make sure Nigeria excelled at the World Cup.

    “I thank Globacom for considering me a worthy ammbasador. I will continue to do my best for Nigeria and work hard in ensuring that we get good results in Brazil,” Emenike said.

    The Fenerbache of Turkey striker also said he is not disappointed for not making the final top three of the CAF Africa Player of the Year.

    “I am not worried about the award and I am not disappointed that I was not listed among the top three finalists. All the remaining three players are good for the award and I wish them best of luck.”

    Also commenting, the President General , Nigeria Supporters’ Club Worldwide, Rafiu Oladipo described the signing of Emenike as a Glo brand ambassador as a dream come true and prayed that he would be in good health to bang in goals for the Super Eagles at the World Cup.

    “Emenike would score goals for Nigeria like Rashidi Yekini did. The Super Eagles will play at least up to the semi finals,” Oladipo said, adding “I thank Glo for supporting everything good. Emenike, watch it! By the grace of God, Glo will increase your value if you excel at the World Cup”, Ladipo said.

    Emmanuel Emenike: Team play key to Fenerbahce’s success

    Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike believes the success recorded by Fenerbahce in the first half of the 2013/14 Super Lig season is as a result of team play.

    The Yellow Canaries finished the first half of the Super Lig season in top spot, seven points clear off second placed Kasimpasa.

    Emenike in an interview with the club’s TV channel revealed that the collective performance of his team-mates including himself has been instrumental to the club’s impressive run so far in the league.

    “The foundation of success is team play. So it is not correct to say that it is just my success instead its a team success. I think we have done an important job in the first half of the season. Fenerbahce is a great team and the important thing is that we always aim to prevail in every game,” Emenike stated.

    The Nigerian international ,who has had an impressive 2013 year, helping Nigeria to the Nations Cup triumph in South Africa earlier in the year, has been a massive addition to the Ersun Yanal led Fenerbahce side since joining the club for Russian side Spartak Moscow in the summer.

    The powerful and prolific forward has made 10 starts from 15 appearances for the Turkish side and has found the back of the net in seven occasions

    Fenerbahce finished the first half of the 2013/14 season with 38 points from 16 league games, recording 12 victories, two draws and two losses while scoring 38 times and conceding 18.

    Super Eagles and Fenerbahce striker Emmanuel Emenike was on target as his side suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat to Joseph Akpala’s Karabükspor away from home yesterday.

    Both Nigerians started for their respective sides but while Akapla was taken off for Simsek inside the three minutes added time after 90 minutes, Emenike who was on target in the first half to increase his season’s tally to six from 15 league games played the entire duration of the encounter.

    The home side shot into an early lead with just 13 minutes of play which handed them full control of the game with Akpala and his front gang constantly putting the visitors on the back foot.

    Fenerbahce however regained their composure to justifying why they are league leaders and were back on level terms when the prolific Nigerian international slot home from with a stunning effort to restore parity on the 40th minute mark.

    Both sides headed for the dugout at half time on level terms but on resuming the second half, Ex-Fenerbahce striker Ilhan Parlak scored the deciding goal to end the Yellow Canaries unbeaten run in their last 14 league fixtures.

    The home side, who have now extended their unbeaten run to eight matches, have climbed to seventh spot with 26 points while Emenike and his gang remain in top spot with 38 points after 16 games.

    Meanwhile, Super Eagles skipper Joseph Yobo who has been linked with a move to Isaac Promise’s Antalyaspor was again not listed for the encounter.

    Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike has told only MTNFootball.com he will aim to do more for country and club in the coming year.

    Emenike was AFCON 2013 top scorer with four goals and led Nigeria to book a place at the 2014 FIFA World Cup with four goals in the qualifiers.

    Fenerbache are top of the Turkish league going into the new year and there is also the World Cup in Brazil in June.

    The striker was also listed among the best 100 players in the world for 2013 by English tabloid The Guardian.

    “It is a great feeling for me to be ranked among the best 100 players in the world where the likes on Lionel Messi, Ronaldo and others featured, I really feel excited to be on that list,” Emenike told MTNFootball.com.

    “I am not being carried away, I need to work harder. I know I really need to do more than what I am doing at the moment. It has been a great year in my life and career, it has been full of successes for me.

    “It is a year I can’t forget in a hurry, but I am looking forward to have a far better year in 2014.

    “I don’t want to be specific in terms of the honours or what I wish to achieve next year, but I wish to achieve more with Nigeria and my club. I still have a lot to give and only time will speak for me, I will not rush.”

    The powerfully-built 26-year-old is also on the list of players vying for African Footballer of the Year 2013 alongside compatriots Mikel Obi, Ahmed Musa and Vincent Enyeama, and he told MTNFootball.com all the players listed by CAF deserve to win the award.

    “Individual honour is not the priority. My first priority when I am on the field for my country and club is collective victory. If my team-mates work for me to score goals, or I do same for my mates to score, it is all for the team’s success because football is a team game, like a family affair,” he insisted.

    Emmanuel Emenike has promised to keep scoring goals for Turkish club Fenerbahce after he scored his sixth goal on Friday.

    Nigeria international striker Emenike was on target in his team’s 4-0 spanking of Akhisar Belediyespor.

    “It’s always good feeling to score goals. I will keep working hard to get as many goals as I can for my team to get to our target which is the league title,” Emenike told MTNFootball.com

    Emenike opened scoring in the 43rd minute. He was later replaced by Mehmet Topuz in the 78th minute.

    Fenerbahce remains top of Turkish Super League with 38 points from 15 matches. The club is now 11 points clear of second-placed Kasimpasa.

    Emenike beats Oboabona in Turkey

    Emmanuel Emenike’s Fenerbahce emerged victorious when two Super Eagles players clashed in the Turkish Super League yesterday, as his Fenerbahce defeated Godfrey Oboabona’s Rizespor 2-1.

    Cameroonian striker, Leonard Kweuke gave Rizespor, who wereplaying at home, the lead after just 11 minutes.

    But the experienced visitors struck back in the injury time of the first half through Cristian Baroni, as both sides ended the half tied.

    But another Cameroonian international, Pierre Webo, who had come on as a 70th minute substitute, scored what proved to be the winner with seven minutes left.

    The win meant Fenerbahce pulled eight points clear at the top of the Lig with 35 points, while Rizespor slumped to 13th with 15 points.

    Emenike and Oboabona both played the full 90 minutes.

    CAF awards: Mikel, Enyeama, Emenike, seven others listed

    Super Eagles stars Mikel Obi and Emmanuel Emenike are still in the race for the 2013 CAF African footballer of the Year after the top 10 nominees were named on Thursday.

    Other Nigeria stars in the top 10 are goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and Ahmed Musa, MTNFootball.com reports.

    All the four players were involved as Nigeria won a third Africa Cup of Nations in February and also qualified for a fifth FIFA World Cup.

    Cote d’Ivoire’s Yaya Toure, who won the prestigious award last year, is also still in contention as his compatriot Didier Drogba.

    Other players in the shortlist are Asamoah Gyan (Ghana), Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang (Gabon), Mohamed Aboutrika (Egypt), and Jonathan Pitroipa (Burkina Faso).

    The nominees for the best African Player based on the continent have also been whittled down to five.

    They are – Sunday Mba (Nigeria), Aboutrika, Ahmed Fathy (Egypt), Rainford Kalaba (Zambia) and Treso Mputu Mabi (DR Congo).

    Aboutrika won last year’s version of this award.

    The CAF Awards will be staged in Lagos on January 9, 2014.
